This is literaly the worst shampoo I've ever used- and I've used a lot! It made my hair feel so greasy, even more greasy than before washing it. It did not give me volume watsoever and it seemed to irritate my scalp. The smell is not that bad but its not great. Definitely not worth the price, there are much better shampoos for cheaper!

This is my HG shampoo. My hair is generally normal and wavy, nothing too problematic or crazy, although I notice that too many sulfates (read: drugstore shampoos) make me shed more than usual. Also, I usually wash my hair every other day.
A reviewer before me said it perfectly: this gives me "Bentley" hair. Socialite hair. Fresh-cut celebrity hair. This shampoo strengthens the individual strand instead of actually volumizing your entire head; I wouldn't recommend it to those lacking volume or fine-haired girls whatsoever. It just plumps up my strands and smooths them. No frizz and it dries incredibly! I will continue buyin this, no doubt, although I did invest in a huge bottle + pump since its a better deal.

I bought this at the ULTA liter sale along with the conditioner. I was looking for something the gave body to my fine, shoulder length hair, which it did give me some but also caused a lot of breakage. After shampooing it left a film on my hair that I thought the conditioner would help but was still there after using the conditioner. It was hard to comb through before blowing out my hair and I felt it took extra time to get it dry as well. For me neither the shampoo or conditioner worked for what I wanted. I returned after using for 3 weeks.

This does not give me zoomed-up Ferrari volume, which I expected at this price. It does, however, give me sophisticated, subdued, socialite hair. Bentley hair. Smooth and radiant, always looks like it was cut yesterday, my curls look like they just slid off an iron instead of running rampant all around my head.I have more volume at the scalp, yes, but it's a restrained, tasteful volume.

I like this shampoo, but it is stupid expensive, especially when used with the equally spendy conditioner.

Very mediocre product. I really can't wait to use up this shampoo.. although I don't really want to because it makes my hair greasy within a day! This stuff gives me no volume and makes my hair a lot more greasy than other shampoos. Will not repurchase. Conditioner isn't that much better either.

Just bought this yesterday and the reason I bought it is because of how wonderful it smelled! Really!!! After reading some reviews, I couldn't believe that some people hated the smell of it. I just loved it so much! So I really hope I'd like the shampoo and it wouldn't make my hair fall out, like it was mentioned in some reviews...

My hair is thin and gets oily in one day (yey, happy me... :/).
As my hair isnt that dry, and that I make sure I cut my hair regulary, Im not really in need of a heavy moisturizing Shampoo. This isnt heavy in any way but it isnt drying either. Its very well balanced for my type of hair.

If your hair is dry or damaged I dont think this will work though.

My thin scandinavian hair loves this in conjuction with the conditioner in the same line!

Would buy again!

UPDATE! -----------------------------------------------------------
as other reviews stated: this range makes my hair very weighed down, greasy and just blah.

i use shu uemura moroto range right now and its not even comparable

I saw all of the negative reviews for this shampoo and I had to write my own.
I think this shampoo is fantastic for one reason: it makes my super fine, super oily hair feel light, clean and abundant.
I think that they key is your hair type. Don't use this if you need any moisture at all. This is for the flat hair gals only.
I've spent tons of money trying different shampoos and this is the only one I've ever stuck with for more then a bottle or two.
The smell I find very strong and slightly offensive but that's because it's loaded with chemicals just like all other non-organic shampoos. But at least this one works.

Having tried a few other Joico shampoos in the past I assumed this would work well like those had. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Just using it once made my scalp incredibly itchy and left my hair feeling both dry and gunked up. And then there's the smell of the shampoo. In a word i'd call it horrendous. It smelled very chemical-like, as if I had just colored my hair. Really the only positive thing I can say about it is that it didn't take much to get a good lather, but that isn't exactly enough of a redeeming quality to ever use this stuff again.

BEWARE!!!!! After using this shampoo for a while, I noticed a lot of my hair was falling out and my scalp was burning. I never thought a shampoo could make that happen. I stopped using it and a week later my hair was shedding like normal and my scalp was no longer irritated!

This has to be the worst shampoo I've ever bought! I have very fine curly hair and I hoped this shampoo could give me the volume I needed. Instead, it messed up my curls, didn't give me any volume AT ALL and the worst part is that it made my hair fall! It really messed up my hair, I hate this product.

I have never really hated a shampoo before. I am always more fixated on conditioners. But in the last two weeks I have managed to buy TWO shampoos that have turned my hair into straw. The conditioners worked with all other shampoo's I have, but the shampoo's worked with NONE of the conditioners, not even the one it was designed to be paired with. I purchased this at a Liter sale event at Beauty Brands on the suggestion of the sales girl. I was looking for a bodifying shampoo/conditioner that would not leave my fine damaged hair feeling stripped. These come in attractive metallic frosty greenish bottles with pump dispensers (one lippy for that, nothing like trying to handle a liter size bottle of shampoo in the shower with a flip top! I am just not that coordinated in the morning and those suckers hurt when they slip and land on your foot!). The shampoo lathers well, no complaints there. And those are the last nice things I can say about it. While I was lathering, the strange texture it started giving my hair was readily apparent. How can your hair be soaking wet and begin to feel dry and crispy? Strange, I know, but that is what happened. I assume it was the thickening action, and kept on going. I followed with the conditioner, and as I rinsed I was surprised to find my hair in snarls, usually at this point it is pretty smooth. I tried to run a wet comb through it, and it got stuck only 3 inches from my scalp. By stuck I mean I had to leave the comb in my hair for the rest of the shower and work it out in the mirror so I could see what I was doing. it was stuck like glue, not so much in a tangle. That is how gummy my hair was. My hair felt like wet straw and was stiff. I tried to dry it with a blow dryer and my usual Garnier Fructise Root lifter, but my hair became so tangled and gummy that I had to stop and get back in the shower to rewash it with my old shampoo and conditioner. I would not use this on my worst enemy. Was not super expensive since it was a liter sale, but $.01 would have been too much to spend on such a defective product. The conditioner is OK when used with a different shampoo, smells amazing, but the shampoo is a complete failure. Took me three days to get rid of all the greasy, gummy feeling on my hair. And then we go to the next crap shampoo purchase....what did I do to offend the Shampoo Gods? sobs....

This shampoo is nothing special I'm sorry to say. I hardly noticed an increase in volume or hair thickness. The formula smells exactly like pantene and seems to give the same results.

I've been using this product with the conditioner for a week now. I've noticed more of my hair has fallen out and I'm starting to get dandruff! I haven't had dandruff in 4 years. My hair feels and looks oily after several hours. I will definitely not repurchase this item again.

Oily roots, dry ends, color treated bleached/low lights, long hair type. I love this shampoo it does give me noticeable volume. The important thing about this shampoo is it doesnt just give volume, its meant to actually thicken the hair up temporarily. To make it feel like you have more hair, not just lift up the hair you have. Its hard to find a volumizing shampoo that has good ingredients, that wont strip or dry out your hair. This Joico shampoo is no different then their others, it has a good PH balance, the quadramine complex ingredients of proteins meant to make the hair healthy. So the more you use, the more you put into your hair health wise. I really like this because when i rinse the shampoo, my hair doesnt feel like straw. With other volumizing shampoos I get the straw feel, dried out feel. I also love the matchign conditioner, it detangles and rinses clean for more volume. When I first tried this in the salon, the hair stylist was telling me how this thickening shampoo, and line from joico was for more thickening vs volume. She said there was a difference. So if you have really thin hair, this will plump up the hair, and make it feel thicker. Has a nice light clean scent that I love. Simple green packaging. doesnt dry my hair out with every day use like with other volumizing/thickening shampoos. for example matrix amplify dried my hair out soo bad. so not all high end brands are created equal. This does give body adn thicken so 5 stars.

Background: I have fine hair with an oily scalp. My hair is untreated and naturally straight. I don't have much hair and need all the volume i can get. I wash my hair everyday due to the oily nature of my scalp.

Cost: I purchased this at my local Winners for $8.99CAD.

Reasoning: After using up my Biosilk Volumizing shampoo, I decided to try something different and this brand seemed promising.

Reaction: This product is worse than Pantene Pro-V. It made me lose a lot of hair. Usually after you shampoo, you can feel that the roots are squeaky clean. I still felt like there was product in. By mid day my hair would feel greasy and oily. Usually that only happens at the end of the day or 24-hour cycle. Even if I shower at night and get ready in the morning, my head would still feel extremely oily and like I need to wash my hair again. After using this product for 2 weeks and couldn't stand it anymore. I decided to purchase another item instead.

Final Use: Since I don't like to waste products, I'm using this shampoo as a shampoo for my makeup brushes. It leaves the brushes incredibly soft and gets all the dirt out. I guess this shampoo is too moisturizing that's why my scalp always felt like there was build up/greasy feeling by mid-day.

I'm on my second bottle of this stuff so I guess it must be good :). I used to have very thick hair but am on a medication that weakens and makes my hair fall out so I now have fine, delicate hair :( This is the shampoo and conditioner brand my hairdresser uses and obviously my hair always looks great when I come out so I thought I'd give it a shot, but at 14.99 per bottle this stuff is is priced like its liquid gold!!!!! But I have noticed how much nicer and healthier my hair is when I use this. It especially noticeable when I go to style it the next morning, it is a lot more co-operative which is saying something as my hair refuses to hold styles but with this my hair just kind of falls magically into place like I was Snow White! I find that no shampoos/conditioners ever live up to their promises to curl or straighten or volumize, it is the the shamp/cond. that helps the products work. Wold def. recommend! I also love that it's pH balanced <3

I love Joico. I've used the moisture recovery line and this one so far = both very satisfied. As I've read previous reviews here, most people seem to agree that it added some volume. Definitely true, and compared to all those other million product selection out there... this gave a consistent body lift to my hair. Also, by the way... I have thin asian hair so volume is hard to come by. I find the scemt lasting a bit longer compared to recovery line which is a plus. Lathering is pretty good considering its a salon line... most of the salon products give less lather build which is supposedly better for your hair because they have safer ingredients. I read in some article that the chemical for lathering is not really that good and strips out too much of your natural oils. Anyway.. Joico Body Luxe delivers reliable results. The volume stays throughout the day after styling my hair (with no added product) plus theres none of that greasy root or dry ends business that we have to deal with. Theres one ingredient that remains rather questionable though... "human hair keratin"?!? whats up with that?

Whatever... it works and I'm happy =) I will definitely repurchase a large bottle to save more money. Joico is not the cheapest hair product. By the way, you can purchase 2 bottles as a Shampoo and Conditioner set at certain hair specialty stores. Its more affordable that way.

I would MAYBE buy this again. It does give some volume, better than all the drug store brands. but it is way too expensive for the amount of volume you get.
