Well where should I start? I had read a lot about this scent and decided to try it today. My husband wanted to buy it online right away when he saw me so excited about it. But I said I wanted to smell it first. We drove an hour in the evening to find a store where I could smell it and hopefully buy it. We found one shop that had the perfume in the end. The seller girl could not stop telling wonderful things about it while she was busy finding it to let me try. I did spray it on myself and on a piece of paper and I was just incredibly disappointed. I could not believe how cheap and fake this smelled. It smells like badly watered fake fragrances and I have not smelled anything that cheap even in the supermarket. It is unbelievable that they put a price tag of 1100 Norwegian Krone on it which is equal to 188 US dollars. I have smelled room sprays that smell more sophisticated than this one. I honestly think that the company that makes a product which is maybe worth 2 dollars and gets to sell it over 100 must be made of marketing geniuses. I think I want to give them at least four stars for their success, while the scent itself deserves barely a half... I am so glad that I insisted on trying before paying for it. My regret would have lasted quite a while if I had not!

Edit: It does deserve that one star for staying power, though. After five hours and a long shower, the scent is still there on my wrists. Ladies who cannot smell it on themselves must be so lucky.

I bought 6 mL of this to try out. I would describe the smell on me as wood-like. Not cheap wood though, but like expensive dark wood, sandal - quite a natural scent. There is also something in this smelling dusty, and also a tiny bit of something like machine oil/gasoline. That's is - nothing more in there. Minimal sweetness, no sourness, no powderiness on me, no flower smell. It smells just like it smells right out of the bottle, minus the alcohol, so this doesn't change on me. The smell to me is very light, while other people may almost not notice it at all, which I actually like. It stays close to the skin. I have also applied it under other perfumes to warm them up, which also works well, for example with Chanel eau Vert.
.
I said I would buy this again because I like the feeling of olfactory-wise being near a wood-workshop, but if that doesn't appeal to you... at least don't buy the full bottle - try a sample.
.
The silage isn't that great, but this has very good lasting power - on clothes you might be able to smell it even a week later!
.
I do agree that this scent is very very very overpriced - it's so simple - ONE ingredient, and it's not an expensive one either. I have rated the smell only though: it's not annoying to me, it's very long lasting. I have no clue why it's so expensive though. I also have two big samples of Molecule 02 and 03 - all are very simple, and again, very overpriced. I would recommend trusting the reviewer over me.

A lot of people wear this one, and I´ve tried it on myself. I do like the smell, but people and advertisers say, that it "brings out your own scent", that I dont believe. My collegue wears it, it smells great, but it smells the exact same way when my sister wears it and when I myself tried it on. Very nice perfume, but not as unique as I inicially thought. And as with all perfumes, I get a bit tired of the scent, when many people wear it:(

"Molecule 01 is the first of its kind to pay homage to just one of these hidden delights—the not so sexy sounding Iso E Super. You know it as a sweet sandalwood/cedar-like smell…"

Well, maybe I do. But not in this form. I couldn't smell the sample at all with my nose shoved into my arm -- but it drifted around me in a cloud of chemical Spring Breeze detergent scent, sickly and headache-inducing. Wouldn't wash off, either. Horrible.

Lovely scent, Very clean, woodsy, musky and ridiculously long lasting. There are some perfumes that has these particular notes in it. Light Blue (Dolce and Gabbana), Voyage (D'Hermes) and Yellow Diamond (Versace). Even though I like these fragrances it just seems that (on me) the woodsy, musky notes wouldn't come out as brightly. I am glad to have found this.
Please do not apply too much because if u do you'll end up smelling like gasoline. Take it from me. It may seem light to you but it actually travels and has great sillage. Plus, you'll only appreciate this fragrance when you get it in wafts.

My signature scent - I absolutely adore this!
It's very woodsy and nice, not offensive in any way, and the scent is so good on me. Sometimes I get immune to the scent, and I switch to another perfume for a while, but this is my favorite.
My primary complains are the price and the fact that the bottle doesn't come with a lid.

I was so intrigued by this and eager to try it because of all the hype. Well, I can't say that I'm disappointed, since this fragrance is exactly as described: a subtle, woody aroma that is "more of a feeling than a fragrance", according to the creator. It's supposed to smell quite differently on everyone. On me it smells clean, woody, and lightly coconutty, which I really enjoy. This is a true "your skin but better fragrance" and very inoffensive. My very fragrance-sensitive father even liked it and sprayed some on his neck. He actually smelled it from across the room and said it smelled really good, which surprised me because it's rather subtle, but clearly not as subtle as one might think. However, if you enjoy very strong fragrances this may not be for you. If I hadn't done any research, had never read the description, and hadn't known what to expect, I would be seriously disappointed. But if you have fragrance sensitivities and/or are partial to very understated, sexy, warm scents, this may be perfect for you. Either way, I do think it's overpriced.

I love this smell. The first 20 min. it's gone, but then it starts to waft up around you, very exiting. It's warm, woody and soft. Love it, love it, love it! Really lasts all day, even the next day i smell it on my clothes. I'll gonna get another bottle for christmas!

I was so ready to call this a scam. I smelled nothing, NOTHING at Scent Bar, and assumed they (and everyone in LA) was crazy when they told me it was their "top seller."

Then one of the store people told me to step outside to smell it, and I got a whiff of something very woodsy and nice indeed.

Took a sample home and put some on, after a shower (since it didn't seem to have any smell when placed on skin next to another scent.)

Sat back and got ready to start "Facebooking" the usual sarcastic comments.

Then I noticed a wave of what smelled like cedar followed by vetiver curling into pepper and then over to a very nice soapy "fabric softener" type smell, then back again. Of all the perfumes I've sampled this week, simply the best sequence of smells: all clean, organic, earthy with not too much of anything.

That lasted for about 30 minutes, after which "refreshing" it on my skin didn't bring the smell back. (Others have noted the phenomenon where it disappears to the wearer but remains to others.)

In spite of its odd properties, the goodness was impossible to ignore: immediately started pricing full bottles. Seriously odd execution, but seriously fascinating.

Smells exactly like Comet cleanser. Not offensive, but nothing special, in my opinion. This would definitely smell better on a man, there is nothing feminine about it. As for the so-called 'pheromone effect', I think it's BS. I do find it kind of fascinating because I can't seem to smell it 5 minutes after application, yet I can smell it on my clothing after it's been laundered. Weird. Overpriced!

This has gained "cult favorite" status at Luckyscent which is usually reason enough to try it.
This is a true skin scent and is perfect for the person looking for something very understated. However, I wish they added a few more molecules and added to the complexity of the fragrance. It's a nice start (woods, amber, and clean white musk) but seems unfinished.
If it were $30 I would buy tons and layer it with other fragrances. However, at $100+, I want a more cohesive fragrance with better lasting power.

I love how this smells on me, subtle, evocative and woody. As for the "pheremone" effect, well every time I wear it I get compliments and asked what it is I'm wearing. Sadly all these compliments have come from other women and I don't swing that way! Despite that I will continue to wear it as it's a breath of fresh air (can you say that about perfume?) in a world full of sickly, floral, fruity celebriscents

I'm glad to have smelled a sample of this fragrance, because it's helped me to be able to identify Iso E Super when I smell it in various other fragrances.
The fragrance is pleasant, woody, sort of like a sandalwood and cedar mix, but without the weight that those notes usually carry. It's light and somewhat ethereal. There is also a sort of dirt-like or mineral aspect to the fragrance, for me at least. However, I also smell something slightly musty, or maybe even a bit cardboard-esque.
Though I'm pleased to have smelled Iso E Super on its own, I think it's a note that performs best as part of a composition, rather than as the star of its own show, like in Molecule 01. I don't find this fragrance to be interesting or compelling, beyond the satisfaction of what was a somewhat academic curiosity.

This is a great fragrance... but it's deceptive!
Some time after you've put it on you can't smell it on yourself anymore(and I have an extremely good sense of smell -- I can smell things that other people can't, like if there is a cockroach hidding somewhere in a room I can smell it) But other people will! People ask me what I'm wearing more often when I wear this than any other fragrance I've tried... and I'm surprised because I thought the smell had dissipated completely already...
Last week a girl who works in the same space as me but at the opposite side of the room said that she always knows when I'm in the room because of this gorgeous faint smells that waffs over to her. I thought "god, maybe I'm putting on too much" -- (I usually spritz only once or twice) and said so, but she replied "no, it's very subtle, refreshing and pleasant" and then begged me to tell her what it was.

It's a lovely scent! Very fresh, elusive and breezy. Not sweet or cloying at all. I really dislike most perfumes, esp. the heavier ones. I find them totally nauseating and synthetic. But this is the opposite: it so sublte and chic and uplifting. Completely different from most generic, commercial perfumes! Can't wait to try the other Escentrics!

Molecule 01 is probably the most frustrating scent I have ever smelled (or tried to smell, I should say). I flat out adore its sister perfume, Escentric 01, which is 65% ISO E Super and so thought I would love this even more. Well, I was wrong.

Molecule 01 is like spraying my arm with water that is VERY faintly scented with rubbing alcohol and cedar. At first, I thought the bottle that I purchased from Luckyscent had gone off and was advised that the juice needed time to "macerate". I waited a month and still no change. I tried the juice from a 2nd bottle that had been used for a while and it was no different. I cannot smell anything but faint rubbing alcohol and cedarl. And, at 100ml/$135, I am not interested in laying Molecule 01 down like a fine Bordeaux in hopes that it might eventually develop 20 years from now! Hats off to whoever can smell this and the similarly elusive LesNezL’Antimatiere

Here are the alleged "notes": sandalwood and cedar.

oh my -- i am smitten. this is utterly addictive on my skin: woody, warm, delectable, not sweet, not harsh, not fleeting, not strong, sometimes there, sometimes not -- i really can't describe it coherently. i have *rarely* sniffed my own arm this obsessively -- maybe even never. and i really did not believe a single word of all the hype -- but hey, it may all be true.

still: from what i understand this is made of only one molecule (hence the name)-- iso e super -- denat. alcohol and water. the iso e-super can be bought online from perfumer-supply sites (and they even tell you how much you can use). should i ever empty this bottle i just received in a swap (and i just might, at the rate i am even sniffing the *box* that is standing on my desk) i shall attempt to concoct this for myself.

Molecule 01 contains just one molecule, the Iso E Super that's used widely in perfumery (it smells a lot like the cedary, warm base in Ormonde Jayne's wonderful fragrances). This envelps my skin in a warm, sweet cedary haze - it's lovely. One minute it's there, another it's gone. I'm left wondering if the price tag is really justified? I don't know - but do try this out.
