This is a great option for those of us who cannot tolerate silicones but have fine hair that is weighed down by oils. It does have petrolatum and mineral oil but with the polymers, PVP and acrylates, the heaviness that might occur is somewhat mediated. It has the same texture as silicone serums without the silicones.

This is a light gel with a small amount of clear/silver shimmer gel and only a slight amount of hold. I use this as a finishing product after I fluff out my curls a bit. It solves the flyaway/frizz/dry ends issue for me. I use just a pea amount and rub it in my hands then sort of smooth it through my hair, twist sections, etc.

You get a huge amount of this for the price-- 6.75 oz tube for around $6 US which beats almost every silicone serum I've seen or the few I've used. It's a little tough to carry around but I don't mind decanting as I haven't been able to find any other product like this-- definately at this low price.

Ingredients: water, petrolatum, PVP, propylene glycol, mineral oil, octylacrylamide/acrylates/butylaminoethyl, methacrylate copolymer, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-20, paraffin, alcohol denat., copernicia cerafera wax, cetyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylparaben, carbomer, fragrance, aminomethyl propanol, PEG-90M, hydrolyzed rice protein

Got this on sale at Shoppers as a replacement for Brilliant Brunette Satin Shine.

Scent is fresh as opposed to cloying.

Provides soft control and shine.

Would be easy to overdo since the formula is a bit on the thin side.

Won't replace Satin Shine, but good overall.

This gloss polish is a good alternative to John Frieda Shine Shock. Neither give actual shine, but both leave my hair super soft and manageable. Both require just a little bit to cover my whole head of fine brown hair. The Charles Worthington is a big tube, so it'll last a long time. I probably won't buy it again because I'm happy with John Frieda, but if I couldn't find it (or if it got discontinued), I'd switch to this.
