This is my favourite loose powder I have tried so far... I paired this with the Armani matte silk foundation, which is the favourite of my foundations, they work together so well to give me the best finish I could ever ask for. If I moisturised well before I put on makeup, I can get away with not touching up until mid afternoon, sometimes I won't bother, it'll turn into a dewy finish which is not greasy. The only thing I have against it is the packaging. I took it on a trip one time and I must have not closed lid thing inside properly and I am not one for the powder puffs... so half the product ended up in the top half of the tub... so I have to be careful so I don't drop the tub or put on too much powder... but the finish is just so worth it...!

I am using # 1 (this only comes in # 1 or # 2) and I love this. I was looking high and low for a setting powder to just put a bit over my foundation and I kept getting super disappointed in everything I found. I made three trips to the mall to return all sorts of stuff from Dior to Chanel to YSL. Nothing suited me. I then decided that I'm going to have to go back to mineral powders because they seem to be the only thing that works on my skin. I guess because they are so finely milled?? I really don't know why, but they really look the best on me. Also probably because this doesn't contain talc as someone already mentioned. Talc and my skin do not mix.

I had tried the LM Illuminating Mineral powder in Candlelight in the summer and I love it, but it is just too shimmery for winter and every day use especially to wear at the office so I just wanted a simple setting powder and that is exactly what this is. It is perfect and exactly what I was looking for.

It feels so soft and velvety. I apply it with a big fluffy brush or a kabuki brush and you just need a small amount to dust over your face. It doesn't have a color (well technically it is white for # 1, but once you put it on it is translucent) and it just looks and feels amazing. It doesn't look like a powder or anything it just makes your skin look flawless and smooth. It doesn't feel like anything is on your face either which I like. I have no idea why some people said it made them look white, they clearly were not applying it properly and using way way too much. I mean I thought that I put on a lot and it doesn't even make me look white (I try to cover my rosy cheeks).

It doesn't break me out, which I love about mineral make up to begin with. It will last forever because there is so much in the tub that it comes in. Even if you are clumsy like me and end up spilling some.

So if I ever run out of this I will definitely re-purchase forever and ever. Oh I also mix it a little bit with the Candlelight to give me just a hint of shimmer and it is PERFECT! :) I swear you have to try it.

Laura Mercier makes several loose setting powders and this is the cheapest at 32 USD. And they all pretty much do the same thing.

The high price tag is totally worth it for one of the best products on the market. This comes in a basic loose powder container, but it does not come with a powder puff of its own, you have to buy the 12 dollar LM one if you want the best results. (The puff is totally worth it, make the skin look flawless.)

I haven't tried a lot of loose powders, but this one is the best. I often have the issue that my powder looks, we'll, powdery but this doesn't give that appearance if pressed into the skin with a puff then blended with a kabuki. The powder itself is white but doesn't leave a white cast to the skin, it just blends seamlessly into the face.

I would definitely say try this out if you have the extra money, but if you have dry skin I dont think its necessary.

I really like this stuff! I always have the problem with my powders looking too heavy and well...powdery on top of my foundation. This stuff doesn'tdo that!
I have combo-oily skin and I want something that's going to look pretty even, flawless and not let my pinky cheeks show through!
This helps set my makeup all day, controls oil, doesn't get thick or sticky and all in all just a really great setting powder! I use it with my ecotools finishing brush and you really don't need that much!
LOVEE

I have this powder in shade2 and it lasts a long time for the price. I use it over the tinted moisturizer and it doesn't change the color, just makes it last longer and gives me a smooth complexion. It is the best powder I have used, will definetly repurchase when I run out although I've had it for quite a while already!

I had my eye on this after loving the mineral foundation but I was truely sceptical about its ability to control oil and shine that I keep reading about in the reviews here. But I caved and went and got it. Its TRUE the oil control is amazing! There are a couple of things to bear in mind though - it is VERY fine and even when the sifter is shut the powder manages to escape from the pot into the top and lid, plus a light hand is key - use a soft puff to gentle press a TINY amount onto oily areas, a brush seems to apply too much and takes away that lovely healthy mineral finish.

I no longer need to blot my makeup with this. Great stuff!

EDIT: I have stopped using this over winter as I find it makes my skin look dull, tends to go a bit cakey and finds any flakiness. Best for oilier summer skin.

I've finally found a replacement for BE mineral veil that DOESN'T contain cornstarch or talc. I have been on the search for a long time trying to find a finishing powder that did not contain those two ingredients (they aren't good for acne prone skin like mine), also this doesn't contain any shimmer which is great as any powder I found that didn't have those ingredients had shimmer in them instead making my face look like a glitter ball. This powder set my makeup nicely I stayed oil free through out 4hrs (after that I got home and showered) and also it didn't dry my skin out at all either which is great considering most powders I tried in the past that kept oil at bay also dried my face out. Also mainly it has that nice soft focus effect on my skin that BE mineral veil had, there was no chalkiness just a nice soft focus effect which is great for disguising large pores. This is now my HG finishing powder that I know I'll be using for years to come.
EDIT: After the first couple uses I went back to b.e. mineral veil, I found that initially yes this looks great, so good that it could replace b.e. mineral veil for me, however after using it a few times I found unlike b.e. mineral veil I can't re-apply this stuff to much otherwise it becomes noticeable, be mineral veil has a way of mixing with your natural oils as you wear it, and the more I reapply the more it starts filling my pores in without looking noticeable, which is ultimately what I aim for with my makeup.

I was really disappointed with this product. A terrible waste of money. It left me a white cast after application, dried out my skin and accentuated fine lines.

This is decent product, very finely milled, and does the job. You get a lot of product out of this jar, and I think it is a worthy investment.

Fab-u-lous! I used BE mineral veil for YEARS! It was great. This is fab! Similar, but better. Highly recommend! Colorless, odorless, & no nasty chemicals or preservative. Much better container too, tho BE recently updated to more travel friendly containers, somewhat similar to LM's.

Beautiful coverage if you can put a little, otherwise you look cakey if you put too much. Good for oily skin for set makeup, truly stay 8+ hours!

I tried this on at the LM counter and it made me look so white! It looked so powdery and was extremely drying because of the talc. I would suggest MUFE HD powder. It only has one ingredient silica and it works way better!

This review is for Laura Mercier Mineral Illuminating Powder in Candlelight. It was a gift and I'm thankful for it. I took away a few lippies based on the following. Overall the best thing about this product is the shimmers. That said, there is a LOT of shimmer going on so a little goes a long way. IMO $32.00 is a little more than a mineral powder should cost that is NOT a foundation but a highlighting powder. The powder is a pinky bronze and it is gorgeous. A little goes a long way. I closed most of the sprinkler holes leaving only one open because the powder is so fine and light it comes out very easly into the tray part of the packaging. I would not buy it again simply because there is so much of it in there and you need so little to get the effect you need. I took a lippie off the packaging because the powder gets everywhere, even with one sprinkler hole exposed. I'm looking forward to wearing this along my cheekbones in winter when I tend to go super pale and my skin feels dry and looks flat in tone.

WOW! I haven been very pleased with the powder products by Laura Mercier and this one is going to be a regular in my stash. The translucent powder, which I have been very happy with, is now replaced with this product.

Mercier's translucent is finely grained and wonderful, but this mineral finishing powder is even finer and offers a beautiful flawless appearance! To feel it, it resembles a fine silk! It's a keeper!

This powder is the best one I have ever use! I wanted to buy LM loosing powder at first, but the BA suggested me buying this one since I have really sensitive skin. I tried it and it looked awesome on my face. My skin looks matt and flawless for a whole day.

This is the BEST powder I've ever use in my life. It's kinda pricy but it's worth the money. I think the pakaging is okay, just like normal powder. Nothing special. About the powder, it's really soft and smooth. It also gives a matte finish. This powder can achieve the flawless skin easily. I would repurchase this product unless I found another product with the same quality but with cheaper price.

UPDATE 05/2010: breakouts. Possibly bismuth oxychloride, though not sure; had issues with that in the past, and the LM products are the first bism. ox. ones I've used in a while. Back to TheBalm Sexy Mama as a finishing powder: no reactions, cheaper, and pressed so more practical.

Lovely delicate fluffy finishing powder. Available in two shades; I'm using the lighter, being pale. Fragrance-free, talc-free, cruelty-free. Contains ingredients of lamb-like gentleness: rice starch and oat flour, copper and zinc gluconate (though NB there is also mica and bismuth oxychloride). And much preferable to the regular LM finishing powder.

PRO #1: It works, so far, for my purposes. Am using this on top of sunscreen and the odd dab of concealer where and as required, just in those areas, not all over the face. Applies like a dream; using a nice soft kabuki brush (currently Eco Tools or The Body Shop). No reactions, stays on well, and because little is needed, it looks like it'll last a good while.

PRO #2: Very fine indeed, like spun air. The finish is just right, neither shiny nor matte, and it's super lightweight. Feels like there's nothing on the skin, looks invisible.

PRO #3: Excellent container: sifter-pot, but with a swivelling middle section that covers the holes in between uses, so you don't spill and lose powder (Lancôme's mineral powder has a similar inside).

CONS: it's pricey (CAD40.00 for 12g), tho' similar price to plenty other powders. Similar result to fine-milled silk powder. For a matter effect, on oilier skin or in warmer weather, try a good rice or arrowroot powder. Also, I prefer pressed powders as they're more practical, especially first thing in the morning when my coordination isn't at its best. [05/2010 Hence returned to Sexy Mama as solves all these cons, as well as the irritation-one.]

INGREDIENTS: aluminum starch, octenylsuccinate, oryza sativa (rice) starch, zinc stearate, silica, pearl powder, avena sative (oat) kernel flour, silver, silybum marianium (milk thistle) extract, vitis vinifera (grape ) extract, copper gluconate, zinc gluconate May contain (+/-): mica (CI 77109), bismuth oxychloride (CI 77163), titanium dioxide (CI 77891), iron oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499).

I never use loose powder but this one has made me a believer that u do not need a pressed powder for matte coverage, not only does this keep my oil at bay but it gives a very airbrushed, soft glow to the face. I have this in shade 2 and i use the tinted moisturizer in caramel. Sets the tinted moisturizer very well and does NOT alter the color in anyway. It is a very light, fine powder as others have mentioned and does not look chalky. I'm very leery about buying powders that have color to them in fear of them changing the color of what i have on or oxidizing but this powder is magical. I havent had the need to touch up and i've had it on for about 7 hrs now with my new hg laura mercier's tinted moisturizer. I do like that i can close the inside so the product doesn't spill bc i do carry it with me. Simply outstanding.
