Top notes: violet, rose and green tea.
Heart notes:Turkish Rose and magnolia.
Base notes: Cedar and musk accords.

I think it's the green tea and cedar that stop this rose scent from becoming too powdery/old lady-like. It is a versatile scent which would suit most ages. Very easy to wear, I find it has moderate sillage and lasts for about half a day before I need a small top-up.

I've also realised that this perfume has slipped under the rader somewhat as none of my friends, family etc have ever owned a bottle although as soon as I wore it they all complimented it and asked what it was.

I'd shop around, in some places you can get a 100ml EDP bottle for around £20 on sale whereas typically it'd sell for £57.

The only thing I'm less than impressed with is the packaging. The bottle has a clean, simple which is fine as I believe it suits this uncomplicated perfume but I really don't like how heavy/bulky the bottle is.

I don't understand the raves here. To me, it is headache-inducing. It smells very generic like the cheap Playboy perfumes. It has no depth, the scent doesn't change but worst of all, it doesn't last. Stella by Stella McCartney is a much better rose scent. I agree with one of the reviews here saying that is a fresh, floral, fruity fragrance, not a true rose scent. You are better off buying the cheap Playboy perfumes.

Beautiful, beautiful rose scent!

Paul Smith Rose is a true rose scent (described in other reviews) but on me it reminded me of the Body Shop Moroccan Rose. I love the smell of the Moroccan Rose shower gel and body butter, but the perfume was awful. This one is perfect for layering with my shower gel and body butter.

Even on it's own it is a beautiful fragrance - not too overpowering, not sugary sweet, long lasting and soft enough to wear to work without being offensive.

But I think the biggest plus for me is that this fragrance is not readily available in Australia. I tried 8 different department stores over 3 cities and none of them had it in stock. Some people had never even heard of it!

Yessss! I finally found true rose scent!!!

It's hard to find pure rose scent nowadays but Paul Smith Rose is fresh, true rose petal, lovely,no musk,no spice,no powder,no soap, but a little green.

This is the masterpiece of naturally rose scent, without synthetic.I can inhale deeply like it's rose soliflore.

Rose in a bottle,well done!

OMG, this is my newest perfume obsession! I love it so much I wear it even when i'm not going out..I love smelling myself with this on :) I'm not good at describing perfume at all, i might say this perfume is great, some might disagree. Unlike one of the reviewer before me, I gotta say this is probably the closest to the real rose smelled perfume out there. I love rose perfume, and I don't really care if it makes me smell like an old lady or not because rose is classy and timeless. I love my Crabtree and Evelyn Rosewater Eau Fraiche because for me it smells exactly like rose, but it has no staying power at all..The other day i was about to purchase Rumeur by Lanvin but when I saw this on the display I really wanted to try it (the SA was not there so I couldnt try it) but finally, while still holding rumeur on my hand, i tried this on the paper thingy. I instantly put down my rumeur and brought this to the cashier instead. It's very expensive in Asia cost about US$120 (damn expensive right) but I fell for it the second I smelled it. It makes me smells like roses and the first day I wore it to school, my friends and teachers were literally trying to find the scent and smelling me, lol..I'm not a big fan of the bottle though..too simple for such an extraordinary product, plus it's a freaking heavy glass bottle for me to carry around in my purse and I don't know on others but this doesn't last longer than 4 or 5 hours tops..my body has this weird habit of vanishing scents, they're just gone (the only ones that last were cool water, lancome miracle and tbs white musk perfume oil) Would i repurchase? YES in a heartbeat! expensive, damn it is..but it's something that will make u want to smell ur own body all the time, it doesn't give you a headache like some other perfumes because it's so light, airy and beautiful. Try it, if it works with ur pheromones then u're lucky!

Spotted this perfume at the department store a while back and thought I would give it a spritz. Fell in love with this edgy but feminine fragrance straight away. Decent price for a simple but long-lasting perfume. Would definitely purchase again! xx

I've always been impressed with Paul Smith fragrances and i'm really surprised Paul Smith Rose did not make it to the United States. Obviously, it's a rose scent. A very nice rose scent that has a very nice note of green tea. I could detect the tea note when i first sprayed it on. Staying power is exceptional and it gives great sillage. I was in a hamburger/hotdog place yesterday and i went up to the counter to place my order. I walked around the restaurant for a couple of minutes and then went back up to pick up my order and i could still smell the fragrance lingering around the counter area i was just standing at. I like the bottle too. It has a nice cool, sleek look to it.

When I smelled this perfume for the 1st time I was expecting a really "grandma" kinda rose smell, but I was really surprised when the scent was really warm and fresh...with a note of lemon? Staying power is great, like this perfume alot!!!
Got summer edition already....

Ugh! You guys! I'm looking for a true rose scent & based on the reviews here, I bought this.
Rose? No. Light, flowery & citrusy yes. Is it going back? You betcha! This fragrance does not resemble rose in the least.

This perfume has great staying power. Not a lot of perfume stays on long for me, but this one does. That is one of the reasons why I love it so much.
The rose scent is very dominant. If you are looking for a floral & woody scent, give this one a try.

I would never have even tried a scent named Rose had I not received a sample of Annick Goutal's Ce Soir ou Jamais from Neiman Marcus which I found super interesting and sophisticated, but haven't ante'd up to buy a FB yet... In any case, that experience whetted my appetite and left me open to trying this Paul Smith Rose EDP when I was in London duty free and looking for something less "mass market" (at least to me who lives in Switzerland...) I was also intrigued to try Paul Smith's take on the classic rose since I had liked his Floral EDP (bought very cheaply in the US at Marshall's) which I would call a true-to-name modern clean floral. Similarly, this rose scent is lovely! equally sophisticated as Annick Goutal, but not as "intense." The AG to me demands "an occasion" whereas this is just a comfortable, highly wearable, beautiful rose scent. The drydown lacks the intensity and richness of the AG, which if I recall correctly has 160 different notes and took 10 years to complete! That being said, the Paul Smith Rose EDP has depth and they share turkish rose and violet notes. The Paul Smith Rose also has a lovely magnolia middle note which reminds me of my childhood in Virginia.

BTW, the "Paul Smith Rose" is a one-of-a-kind rose created for Paul Smith and the odor is captured not by harvesting, crushing and distilling the blossoms, as is usually the case, but by a technology called ScentTrek, where the living flower is isolated in a glass bell and special equipment ‘inhales’ the scent molecules, which are then analysed and recreated in a laboratory. (from paulsmith.co.uk) This is the first time I have heard of that technique, but I do not detect anything "synthetic" about this juice.

This is a must for Rose lovers, and I am still considering the AG.

Top Notes; Paul Smith Rose, Green Tea
Heart Notes; Violet Flowers, Magnolia, Turkish Rose Oil
Base Notes; Soft Musky Base, Cedar Wood

A beautiful clean crisp rose, not too sweet or cloying. Lasts reasonably well in EDT. I like the packaging - the box is, well, rosy, but the bottle is simple and unfussy.

It's that rare thing, a fragrance that would be appropriate for a young girl as well as a mature woman.

I bought my first rose fragrance on a school trip to Paris when I was 16. It was a basic rose fragrance from sephora. I fell in love with it. It became my signiature scent and I recieved compliments every time I wore it! Whenever I went abroad I bought bottles of the stuff (it was only about 20 euros) but on my last trip to sephora I found that they had discontinued the line! I was actually devestated. Not only did I love the scent but it also reminded me of so many happy memories( my first time in Paris, first time falling in love.... ) Since then I've been searching for another rose scent that gives me the same feeling.

This one dosn't quite but it is very lovely! It is delicate and very fresh. Quite a simple fragrance, you mostly get the scent of roses though there is also a hint of violet and the green tea adds a clean dimension to the scent. In the drydown you also get a hint of musk but it's very subtle and does not overpower the roses or take away the freshness of the scent. From looking at the ingredients I don't think it is completely all natural but it smells like it is. There is nothing synthetic about it.
I was quite surprised that Paul Smith produced this one. His other fragrances all seem to be extroverted and slightly edgy types (London, Extreme, ect) whereas this one is subtle and romantic with a slightly old fashioned sentiment, though it's freshness makes it very modern.
Because it's so light I was really surprised at it's lasting power. I sprayed it in the morning and could still smell it at 9 in the evening. I do find though that it stays quite close to the skin. I've only worn it a couple of times but so far only my boyfriend has noticed it ( he really likes it). Also it's been sub - zero here and Rose is definatley a spring -summer fragrance. I can't wait to wear it on sunny days in the park! It's definatley a daytime fragrance - a little too light to wear for nights out.
The only thing that stops me from giving it 5/5 is the bottle. As other reviewers have mentioned it's kind of plain looking. Not unique enough for me and it's masculine appearance dosn't match the femenine fragrance.
I'm not in love with it the way I was with my first rose perfume but I like it a lot.

In my opinion, Rose based perfumes are very hard to get right. As much as it the Rose Oil is a staple in original art of perfume making, and blended into many artisan perfumes, to get a Rose perfume that stay true is a task. Having said that, I think no one gets it as right as this one does. Of course, it depends on one's nose and what one roses one has smelled and thus expects to smell in the perfume....but for me, its my ultimate Rose perfume

I bought this one day when I went out without my make up bag and didn't have any perfume . (I didn't have any make up either and spent quite a lot stocking up on that as well!)
I was in a bit of a hurry but I generally like rose fragrance, although I had tried a tester of this before and had been disappointed that it didn't seem to last very long. But I bought it anyway and I have found that it does last a bit longer than I had thought. It seems to get a second wind - disappears a bit then returns!
It's a lovely fresh simple rose fragrance, no complications.

GORGEOUS. Definitely a rose scent (of course), but the scent of green tea + magnolia is quite distinct, and it makes the scent a lot more complex and comforting.

Tried this in the shop today for the first time and OMG I have to have this perfume! I'm in love! Smells just like real roses, really fresh and not sickly sweet and headache inducing like a lot of sweet floral perfumes.
I was scared of smelling like an old lady too, but no it is just perfect. Buying this next for sure!

I am in LOVE with this perfume.

I've always adored rose scents, but they had seemed to fall out of popularity (I suppose) and became very scarce.

I've been here and there, trying out assorted rose-based fragrances, always coming up short in my quest for the perfect one. That is, until I came across Paul Smith Rose.

With the initial spray, one will notice that this is a fresh, vibrant rose-- not a sickly sweet, old-fashioned, powdery rose. I find it really refreshing!

If you've smelled Stella McCartney Rose Absolute, this is similar to it in terms of the initial application-- but a bit better. The scent stays true as long as one is wearing it, as well. It smelled the same many hours later, as it did when I first sprayed it.

There are other notes in it, as well. They seem to be other florals, but I'm not sure what they are, exactly. Regardless, they really work with the rose note.

I gave myself ONE spritz in a duty free shop, and seven hours later, was going through customs in another country.
The customs agent was so intrigued by what I was wearing, and complimented me on it! Indeed, I could still smell it on myself, and it had remained the same as when I initially sprayed it on.

It's an incredible scent, and I'm so happy that I came across it! I know it's going to be a staple in my collection of fragrances as long as it's made!

I found Paul Smith - Rose EDP in a Japanese department store during a recent trip. This starts off with a real, fresh rose scent and morphs relatively quickly into peonies and magnolia as another MUAer has stated so adeptly below. Solid, reasonable sillage and decent staying power. A warm, soothing rose with youthful floral notes that has been working very well for me this spring and summer. The packaging is simple and plain but lovely; I should mention that sometimes I can't put the top back on as easily as I would like.
