I was once young and foolish (not that I stopped being foolish now that I'm older.. wheeen will I never leaaarn??? Anyway, I digress) and I saw this golden tube of joy in a "Vogue" spread on current beauty favourites of a MUA. I'm not a sucker for pretty packaging and I don't tend to fall for high-end classy products... But this time.. I did. I got my mother to get this for me from the duty free shop when she went away. When I got it on my hands for the first time it was a holy grail moment. I saw myself living the miracle..No more visible pores! I put it on and my skin was so velvety, so matte and pretty! But as I was applying it, it started to clump into a mass. Let me describe it better. You know, when you use a rubber eraser to erase a pencil and small rubery residue falls from the eraser? That was what was left on my face and my hands. Rubbery residue! I tried to apply less, I tried to apply more.. My skin didn't seem to agree with the consistency of the product. Sometimes I got it to stay on but an hour later I would see the thing pushing itself out of my pores, being fairly visible from a close distance. I tried it with various foundations like Estee Lauder, Mac and L'oreal ones, but nothing worked.. I never gave up on using it, but it would fail me every time. Very dissapointed.

This product is fantastic. I have been using it for years as it does what it's supposed to do. Keeps a brilliant matt finish come rain, shine, hot or cold. Excellent product.

This is the 2nd primer I've owned, the first being the Napoleon auto-pilot one. I thought my NP was good but I had to wait a while for it to sink in. This YSL one is AMAAAAZING! Totally different to my other one. I love the smell and my Clarins Everlasting foundation glides so well overtop! Since it's more on the pricier side I would just wear this in the weekends as during the week I wear a BB cream and setting powder.

Matt Touch is an excellent primer if you have oily skin or any oily T-zone. I would not recommend it for anyone with normal or dry skin because it's oil absorbing and slightly drying. I have an oily T-zone, especially my forehead and nose, and this product works great. I use it after my serum and moisturizer have had a few minutes to sink in. I use a decent amount of it on my T-zone before appying powder foundation. It really, really helps the foundation last and prevents it from sinking into my pores. It also controls oil, not completely, but significantly better than if you wore nothing. It has not caused me to breakout so unless I find something better, I will continue to purchase this product.

Really adorable product for refining pores.... But where are all the fair shades???? I got this in nr 04, which is far, far to dark for me (I'm a NW 15/NC 15 during winter)... I can't believe that the nordic countries only offers 6 shades in this and the 04 is the lightest!!!

This is really, really I big minus - not offering a wide range of shades especially in northern Europe where people really are pale!! And therefore I'll give this product only 2 lippies.

:(

I was so excited to try this product- the first primer I had ever used! I have combination skin, and during the middle of the day I tend to get a bit shiny around my t-zone. One good thing about this primer- it seemed to make my skin more matte and my makeup lasted longer. But that was not worth it since this broke my skin out horribly! I am a teenager, and so prone to some spots, but I started getting them in places I had never even got spots before! I stopped using it, and my skin is almost back to normal. I am so annoyed that I bought this product, something so expensive, that I can no longer use. This has inspired me to ALWAYS use testers from now on, and I advise that if you want to try this product, you should too

I've used this for 2-3 months, and had I written my review during the first 2 months, I would have given it a 5.
I am oily, leaning towards combination lately, and this primer was doing the best job amongst all other primers I'd tried: made my face smooth, mattified for a long time, it was everything I was looking for in a primer.
However, after the 2 months, I felt my skin getting weird. I started noticing a rough surface, and my face started feeling irritated and got these itchy little bumps on my cheeks.
I thought it was my face wash, changed it. Then I thought it was my moisturizer, changed that too. The irritation continued, and it became difficult putting on foundation, it was looking so bad. Plus the itchy bumps were annoying and unattractive. Finally I eliminated the YSL primer from my routine, and things started clearing up! It's been 3 weeks since then, I still have the rough texture but I haven't been getting the itchy bumps, so obviously that was the culprit :(
So if you are not sensitive to any ingredient in this primer, I'd say go for it, it really works. But if you are, stay away!

REPURCHASING!!!! Love this primer. I bought this in February and it's now the end of August and I'm about to repurchase. A little goes a long way too.

Pros
- makes skin incredibly smooth
- doesn't break me out
- makes skin matte, but not too matte as in drying the heck out of my face
- I don't think this has all the added gunk that some primers do. I had an allergic reaction to MUFE's primer .... really makes you wonder what in the world are they putting in some of this stuff.

I use this after my moisturizer and notice that as I'm applying this the "sheen" from my moisturizer goes away making my skin matte. Not the creepy kind of matte that makes your face dry, but this honestly makes it look as if I have normal skin instead of oily/combo. It stays that way throughout the day too I do still use powder during the day, but I think this works as promised and am happy with the results. Great job YSL!

This is hands down the best primer I have ever tried. And believe me when I tell you I have tried them ALL. Before this, my favorites were: Bare Escentuals, Pure Luxe eraser, Fynrinnae velvet gel silica, Avon Magix perfector. Revlon Photo finish, Lorac, and finally MAC prep and prime.

Now I have to say, that in my experience, controlling oil has to be a combination of a good cleanser, good moisturizer and a good primer topped off with the right foundation because I find that no matter which primer I use, it differs depending on the foundation I use.

This primer creates a completely flawless canvas without drying. My make up goes on smooth and stays that way for hours. And my days are extremely long; minimally 12 hours. I have unbelievably, ridiculously, fry an egg on my face oily skin. I will try any product that has the words "Matte" "sebum control" or "oil control". I get sick of blotting all day. I'm 43 years old and I'm still oily. UGH. So yes, this is expensive and no I don't care. I will pay anything for any product that helps control this oil. And this does. Full disclosure: I still use MAC Matte over my foundation. The result: FABULOUS all day!

I wore this for eight hours requiring only one minor touch up; which in and of itself is a first. Add on to the fact that part of that eight hours was spent riding 12 miles on a bicycle in 95 degree weather and I think we have achieved HG

This product works miracles. Keeps my t-zone shine free for 5-6 hrs.
I don't need to blot anymore since I got this. It has a nice consistency and smells lovely. It's expensive at €42 but will definitely repurchase it.

My skin is extremely oily and therefore prone to breakouts. I have tried many different primers to control the oilyness and to make my make up last longer but this is the best one I have tried so far.

This primer dries into a nice matte, velvety finish and keeps my skin matte for hours on end. I use this under mineral make up and my foundation goes on smoothly and lasts longer than it normally does.
I think this primer works even better in combination with a liquid foundation.

I take one lippie of for the price (it's just too expensive) but other than that I'm definitely going to buy this again. Oily girls should give it try!

I bought this product after reading the recommendations for it. It's an amazing product, it mattifies my skin for at least five hours after application. Really happy with this!

I have tried so many products to control the shine on my face, especially on the T-zone. This product worked for me is the best oil control primer that I have ever used. It is still working at the end of the day I will continue to use it and I would also highly recommend it!

I have no idea what is wrong with me, but anything that rates good sucks for me :(
I had high expectations for this. It went on okay, but there is no lasting power to it! Lacked both oil control and foundation lasting power.
Did not do anything to "smooth" skin or pores. Totally NOT worth the price. Mary Kay oil control primer is just as good as this and way cheaper, but I will keep searching for my HG.
Glad Sephora takes returns.

I was really shocked at how well this worked after trying so many primers that don't do anything. My skin is super oily and this definitely helps keep the grease at bay for much longer (I'd say about 3-4 hours) than usual. Normally by lunchtime I have to blot, but not when I use this. It's very similar to Urban Decay's Pore Perfecting primer - the only real difference is that the YSL is ever-so-slightly better at mattifying, whereas the Urban Decay is better at camouflaging large pores. Either way, this is pricey but definitely worth it.

I bought this product a while ago and tried it once but didn't like the way it felt oily on my skin so didnt use it until recently. Complete change of mind about it! There is a HUGE difference when i put this under my makeup! The pores all disappear on your face and my Laneige Dual Foundation just slides on.
This product may feel oily but it is not and it's more of a silky/matte effect. The smell is quite nice and one tube lasts a long time. It is worth the investment.

I read up on the reviews on MUA and Sephora and was very eager (and optimistic) to try this primer. First, its almost impossible for me to find at a store, so I had to order it on sephora.com. It’s also pretty expensive, although you get a big tube I still think its pricey. I wear Everyday Minerals loose powder foundation, and need something to help give me some staying powder (and better coverage) on my oily porous skin. Prior to getting this primer I just put the EM right on my skin sans lotion, which seems to help it last longer. If my skin is dry I need lotion but use it sparingly. The first time I tried it I put a little of this primer all over my face before using my EM, without using lotion first. Big mistake…I am sensitive to silicone, so I avoid anything with silicone in it. I read the ingredients to this and it doesn’t say there is silicone (or silica) in it, but it sure feels like it. Its got lots of slip but feels very dry once you put it on. Too dry in fact. It says its supposed to be slightly moisturizing, but I think it’s the opposite. After about a minute my face got white flakes on it and the primer pilled up. Looked terrible! I didn’t even attempt to put my EM over that as I knew it would make my makeup look cakey. So I rinsed it off, and put on lotion first. Then I reapplied the primer. Helped a bit but I still noticed some dry looking patches where it pilled up again. I put on my EM and an hour later my face was as oily as can be. The second time I used it, I just put it on my forehead and T-Zone. I was still shiny an hour later so this did absolutely nothing for me except make my face look dry, flaky, and then greasy. Also noteworthy: I find the scent of this stuff HORRIBLE! It smells like cheap old lady floral perfume. It goes away after you put it on but c’mon! That’s the best scent they could find for this? Yuck! I’d rather smell chemicals than that retched floral smell. So back to Sephora it goes. At least I can drop it off at the store instead of mailing it back and save myself from spending any more money on it. I know some of you love this but it certainly didn’t work for me….the search continues.
