I got this from Ebay since the Matte2 collection has been discontinued (the matte2 formula goes on sooo smoothly with so much color payoff). This is a lavender grey color that looks amazing. Can be used as a liner or shadow. I'd repurchase in a heartbeat!

This is the first of the Matte2 formula I've tried. Was lovely to use in crease with some other purple shadows for a daytime smokey eye.

Found it easy to blend, nicely pigmented, beautiful colour. Only problem is that halfway through the day it tended to lose a little of the depth of colour. Worn with UDPP as a base. Still all in all a very nice shadow and good if you are looking for a darkish purple with no shimmer.

Purples look great with brown eyes and Poison Pen is my perfect purple. It is a true purple color and really makes my brown eyes pop! Got lucky and swapped for this because it is dc'ed.

I had been lemming this for sooo looong. One fine day, I found it at my new CCO. The angels did sing. Another matte2. I love matte2 shadows, they are just so wonderful. Creamy, pigmented, blendable. This color is a blue based purple with a bit of gray. It is dupable with Urban Decay's Cult. I did this look with Poison Pen in the crease:

This is one of my most used MAC purple shades. It strikes the perfect balance of being deep enough to be a great crease shade .. but not so deep it turns black or looks over-powering on the eye. What I love is the absence of any black undertones. It's a matte texture, so it applies with great pigmentation and blends like a dream. Huge rave for this one!!

Definitely one of my fav MAC shades! The matte2's are that creamy, pigmented, blendable, longwearing formula -PoisonPen is no exception. I'm ppp/cool and this is a med-dark true purple. No red tones from this shade. It works on many skintones as well, so don't let the color/ pot put you off. Color stays true all day until you take it off.

I've worn this color w/many other shades -works great w/ PenNPink (matte2), Sweet Lust, Yogurt, LovelyLilly. For a more purple eye: Digit is gorgeous, Violet or VizAViolet pigm. Contrast e/s is nice for deepest shade. Works well w/ greys, cooler taupes, some greens, neutral browns, dk blue.

I also got this at the CCO and I mostly got it because of it's name, but it's also a great colour! It's very smooth and well pigmented that's easy to apply. It is a dark, matte purple that I think looks great with my brown eyes.

Ugh , i LOVE this eyeshadow to bits! I am absolutely in love with purple, this is a beautiful dark lavender colour. AMAZING for the crease. This is a matte squared eyeshadow, so that is why i love it even more. Super easy to blend, the texture is amazingly smooth and soft, ugh i just love it soooo much!

My favorite Mac e/s thus far!The texture of this matte is perfect, very silky with tons of pigment-blends like a dream. It is a deep purple with a gray mixed in so it goes with nearly every neutral e/s.Overall 10 stars! This is d/c'd so I hope they bring it back in another collection so I can stock up! I got mine at the CCO for around $10.

awesome flat, matte, mid-toned purple... great for a smokey eye. the texture is awesome, soft but not too much, and yes agree w/ others about the color payoff.... and the color is pretty vivid on the first application. definitely blendable too... a great shadow by mac, too bad it's dc'd... i got this at my local CCO for $10. if u happen to catch it there, grab it u won't regret it

omg! I am so glad I got this off ebay. I cannot believe this baby was discontinued. Unimaginably smooth and workable (matte2 love) matte soft purple. I can't and won't wear any other purple. Sometimes this isn't dirty enough for me and if so, I'll mix in a little copperplate. If you have blue eyes, they will turn bright turquoise, as in, caribbean sea turquoise. This would also look good if you had amber eyes. This will look good if you have eyes. I am buying 849 backups as we speak. This is a must have.

God knows why stupid MAC discontinued this beautiful shade so fast! At first it looked very cool toned to me but once I tried it on outer V slightly through outer crease I was pleasantly surprised because it didn't clash with my coloring at all. I'm NW20/neutral but I still try to stay away extremely cool toned makeup. Well lucky me Poison Pen is amazing on me! It's such a great alternative to your usual black shadow to emphasize crease and add some depth to outer corners. Works amazing for purple and/or plummy smokey eye makeup. As a matte2 finish e/s, goes on like silk and blends perfectly with other shades. Here is my favorite combination with Poison Pen: Painterly p/p as base, Whistle on inner part of lids, Cork in crease (I love browns and earth tones with purples/plums), Poison Pen on outer V through outer crease blended with Cork, Trax on middle part of lids and blended in crease to add a little sparkle to the look, Pink Opal pigment to highlight browbone (when I don't want a shimmery look, I replace this one with Blanc Type), Smolder to line lower lash line (smudged with Poison Pen).

Gorgeous middling purple shade. Buildable, yet subtle, but still noticeably purple.
The Matte2 line is fantastic. I think it's MAC's best-ever texture (well, that & Starflash perhaps...!).
Mixes well with blacks, browns, violets, blues...I was happy to have a Matte2 in a colour as all the others I have are neutral (Blanc Type, Typographic, Copperplate).

If you haven't tried any shades from the Matte2 collection....you MUST! They have such an amazing, creamy, almost buttery-soft texture. This color is extremely pigmented....I barely touch the surface of the pan with my brush, and there's plenty of color! It's a gorgeous, gray-based smokey purple shade which makes for a beautiful purple smokey eye. You'll just need a deeper shade (I've been using graphology) to define the crease, and it's an amazing look. It looks great on all skin tones, and blends really well. Love it!

This a matte2 formula and is a lovely, soft mid-to-deep toned purple with no detectable red tones.. Instead, I find more of a cool gray undertone. It applies beautifully with a dreamy, smooth texture and blends very easily with any crease brush. I like this best applied to my crease and especially love it combined with Beautiful Iris on the lid/lower lashline and Seedy Pearl to Highlight. It truly makes my green eyes pop! For reference, I'm 41, NW10-15, dark blonde hair and green eyes.

This dark purple, matte2 eyeshadow runs for $14 dollars at your MAC counter or store and a bit less at the CCO depending on the store.
The color pay off on this isn't as extreme as you would expect from looking at the pan. It doesn't go on very dark with one swipe but it is buildable to get however dark of a color you want.
I love MAC packaging as well as UD. This one comes in the normal chic black eyeshadow container.
Pros: It's matte and perfect for a purple smokey eye and it's very blendable and easy to work with.
Cons: Honestly, I can't find something bad to say about the product or the color.

This is a lovely matte dark purple. Unlike Pen 'n' Pink, this is definitely a winner!
