Very very good mascara. It curls, lengthens and lengthens, this is almost HG mascara for me but could be tweaked a bit to be even better! The primer is white and I thought that it was mouldy but it actually isn't! The primer is very useful and you can use it for other black mascaras as well. The black end is also very good and volumising. This definitely could hold a curl without clumping if you don't apply too much. Overall this is something you should try! :)

Not a fan of this product at all. The wand makes it very hard for application and tends to smudge on my upper lids. It doesn't have lasting power either.

i found this in my junk drawer and its not bad. but its 2 sided so the mascara side has less product. :( but it gives my lashes good curls and makes them look fuller. it clumps but i just brush the clumps out. and they might of discontinued it because at walgreens, target, cvs, and other stores they just have the other versions of this mascara.

I got this on clearance at CVS, and the price is the main reason I got it. I don't use lash primers, especially when they are coupled with the mascara in one product, since that means I get less actual mascara. But this was dirt cheap, so I gave it a go. Overall, it's an average mascara. Nice curl and definition, when you prime first and apply mascara to dried primed lashes. But it clumps easily, contains little product, and the curled wand is bothersome. Not a favorite.

I bought this on special (the search for HG mascara is on) so for me it was quite cheap. Having never used a mascara/eyelash primer before it took a bit of fidling around to get used to this product. Okay a lot of fiddling around. I don't mind this product and I actually use it if I'm going out to a day time event and want light eye make up.

Pros: Once you get used to the exact time and how to put on the primer and then the mascara it's not a bad little mascara. Not the best but not the worst. Good product easy to apply and staying power is not bad. I've worn it on several hot days and it hasn't smudged or budged.

Cons: Unless you know how to use it, it can be a bit of fidling around. There's not much product in either if the tubes so you would really have to like it to buy it again.

The way that I use the product is in this order. Curl the lashes on one side, apply primer, then apply mascara while primer is still damp (not wet), curl lashes again. Repeat on other side.

I find that if I concentrate on one side at a time then it usually works out fine. I've only had to comb out small clumps once with this product so I find that it dosen't clump as much as other products I've used.

Very average. the lengthening and volumising is quite good but it barely curls my eyelashes. The bad thing is it clumps like mad. i paid $20 for it and i could probs buy something much cheaper that does something better.

I love this! Ive got short straight lashes thats impossible to curl.
I use 3 coats of the primer, and let it dry between every coat. It gives my lashes curl and length. I dont use the black mascara on the other end of the primer. I always use a mascara with a wet formula (colossal mascara right now). It doesnt flake or smudge during the day.
My lashes look longer and fuller.
Def my HG primer. Will buy again!

This is an extremely average mascara.
If you're looking for a very natural look, with a formula that isn't too dry or too wet, that will give a bit off seperation, definition, and a bit volume (no length here) then this is the mascara for you.
However I only wear this mascara on very relaxed days or when I want to put on more makeup than usual as not to overwell my face.
The only major issue with this mascara is that it will clump IF you wait too long between the 1st and 2nd step, and other than a little lift, this isn't much of a curling mascara, you'll still need the eyelash curler; honestly the curved wand is nothing more than a sales gimmick, also it's best to apply this mascara with your head back as it leaves a huge mess on the lids otherwise.

I really like this mascara, I keep coming back to it! I feel like my eyelashes have grown because of this....It lasts all day for me. No flaking or smudging! I will continue to repurchase as long as it's on the market. It hasn't irritated me, like some other mascaras. And it holds up the curl!

First, I'll list the pros of this mascara:

-Easily available at the drugstore.
-Very black.
-Contains a primer.
-Fantastic packaging.
-Decent price.

Now, onto the cons:

-Clumps instantly.
-Left my lashes stick straight, rather than curled.
-Very waxy, found myself scrubbing my eyes to get the product off even with a makeup remover.
-Bristles of the wand on the primer side were left on my lashes.

I expected a lot out of this mascara, because I hate curling my lashes, but I would much rather curl my lashes than deal with this horrible product. I applied the primer first, as it says on the tube, from roots to tips, then applied the mascara and instantly saw my lashes clump together. Once I tried to take the mascara off, it took me a good twenty minutes to get the product off even with a waterproof makeup remover. I would not recommend this product to anyone, it was horrible. The only reason I have it now is for the primer.

This mascara was good for volume but it clumped a lot and got dry/flaky. Its too bad because it did do a decent job at volume and length.

Silly Girls ;)........ all mascara primers will flake off if: You do not apply the regular mascara immediately after application of primer. The primer needs to be still sorda kinda wet....then it shouldn't clump as easily!

I actually like this stuff!

I have blonde see thru lashes which are thin and short.
So since I have 2 boys, I need a mascara to amp up the volume and length fast!
I first add curl by using my ELF curler...which is awesome for a $1.00. Just do not press too hard with it, since it is like a automatic one and does the job for you. Also,be careful cuz the silicone is very soft on this one! But therefore you get your lashes to curl up pretty easily and fast! Yay!
These are my mascara's that I like to rotate with:
"Benefit Bad Gal"(fave its formula is perfect for me and very buildable for a natural or dramatic look)
"MAC Studio Lash"(pretty wet at first and I can only use 2 thick coats because the hard plastic brush starts to actually pull off the mascara!)
"MAC Zoomlash"(since its a very very very wet formula..I have to wipe off the brush really really really good on the sides and can be spidery if you don't do that....but then the results are good)
"Lancome's Hypnose"(thicker formula for fast results)
"lancome's Hypnose Drama"(wetter than the original and can get spidery if applying over 2 coats)
"Clinique High Impact"( buildable for an above average day looking lashes)
"LashBlast"(which is pretty wet at first, though not as wet as Zoomlash,so during the first week or so upon opening it for the first time, I have to turn on my overhead fan on and it then it dries a lil quicker while still going on creamy and it is a very creamy buildable formula for me)

So, as you can see.... I am a crazy mascara addict and
this one does its job great for me.
The Very Black is very black. ;)
So, its no problem going over the white primer.
The formula is "not very wet" like say MAC's Zoomlash yet its "not thick/drier" like Lancome's Hypnose.
Its in the middle. The wand is a smaller than your typical brush with a curve. I find that gets my inner lashes pretty easily.

You can get the false effect with going slowly!!!
Wiggle at base and pull up slowly and zig zag a lil.

I also, sometimes only apply primer from the "middle of the lashes upward" This way clumping is not really an issue with any brand of primer.
I love drama eyes and pale lips "daily"....and I have tried most mascaras that are below the $25.00 dollar range.
So, for the cheap price of $3.00 on Ebay....this shiz is pretty good!

i really like this mascara. it evens out my lashes when i put it on, and is the only mascara that does not run on my eyes. i do use an old mascara to take out the clumps that appear, but i usually dont need a comb or old mascara brush. it keeps my lashes curled most of the day. this lasted me from january, only because i only need one layer. overall, i give this mascara 4 lippies (:

I'm returning this mascara today :[ It clumps, looks GROSS, and flakes.

After one swipe of the black (after the primer), my lashes stuck together, were all clumpy, and didn't have a curl AT ALL.

Avoid avoid avoid.

I liked this mascara. It is double ended, which means less product, but the products work well together. The #1 side is primer that you brush on and then the #2 side is the actual mascara. It definitely adds volume to my lashes, but with a name like XXL Curl Power, I expected more of a curl. Didn't curl my lashes, but overall I liked it. I think i would buy it again. Also, it wasn't hard to remove with makeup remover either.

I got this mascara on clearance at CVS so the price was amazing! I Love how it comes witht he primer in the same package. Depending on the intensity I want I can use the primer or not. I can reach all of my lashes which I can't do with those new silicone brushes. No mascara is the miracle we want it to be but this is the cloest I've ever come! Yes, it says curling and it does but just a little bit. I find that if I hold the wand at the end of the lashes for a few seconds I get a fairly decent curl. If you can find it... buy it!

I love this product! It lengthens my lashes tremendously and I get beautiful volume. It also curls them. First time I put it on wasn't all that, but after times you start to know ways to make it look better.

Complete crap. My eyelashes are stick straight and tend to look kind of funny when I curl them, so I was on the hunt for something like my Lancome Hypnose mascara that would hold curl but was cheaper. This did absolutely nothing to my eyelashes curling-wise. They were still straight as an arrow. Biggest gimmick ever. Funny enough, the old formulation of XXL Extensions(new one sucks) actually gave my eyelashes a really nice curl and great length too. I absolutely love Maybelline mascaras but I feel like this is one of the worst ones.
