LOVE this mascara! I got the trial size from lancome (not the curved wand one)...but it is AMAZING and finely defines my lashes like no other! I especially like using it for my bottom lashes because it finely separates and distinctly defines each bottom lash and makes them look superb! I also like double coating with this mascara to give it more volume (since this is not really a voluminous mascara...I can see why people might not like it). But it definitely gives me the exact look that I want--natural and defined with a edge! LOVE it! It's expensive as heck but i might consider someday buying the full size...=)

I'm not sure as to why this product gets so much hate. I actually love it. I've been using it for about a month and it's performed the same as day one. I get long well defined lashes with a decent amount of volume. It also holds a curl really well. When I use primer the curl is even easier to create without the use of a traditional lash curler. For reference I have short Asian stick straight lashes that don't normally see a difference with most mascaras. I will be repurchasing unless I can find a cheaper alternative. One lippie off for the price, otherwise it would get a full five.

Horrible. Wish I would have read the reviews before buying this. This makes my eyes water like crazy, and since it's not at all water or smudge proof, I end up with racoon eyes. This is one of the worst mascaras I've used. Sadly, I bought it from a store out of town, so I can't return it or I would.

What a joke! I bought this product due to the great reviews it got so I bought it only soon to realize I couldn't be more dissatisfied with this terrible product. My main issue is this mascara gets clumpy! I put it on and right away I needed to separate my lashes because they were all stuck together. Poor product for the amount paid. It has potential to be good if you worked at it but you will find way better mascaras out there for the same price or less that work great instead of you doing the job for it.

I had to really fight with this mascara to get it on due to the very clumpy formula which created gluey lashes. If you give yourself a good 5 minutes to declump and unstick your lashes it is sort of nice after that. This mascara stays put and holds the curl, but I have tried many mascaras that work MUCH better than this. The tube is pretty but the product just doesn't measure up. I just didn't like it.

The quality was not impressive at all. This mascara smudges and flakes off of my lashes. It will not last long and it is hard to handle with. It will eventually start to clump, this is one product that I will surly not repurchase.

-Smudges easily and runs
-Very difficult application due to the brush shape
-Messy application
-Defines eyelashes very well

Conclusion: poor product, not worth it. If you can find the same mascara with the straight wand, it might be worth it, but otherwise, not worth it.

Definicils Mascara by Lancome has been a fave of mine for years. I'm raving over the pro version and have to say that not one day has gone by that I've worn it that I haven't been compliemented on how gorgeous my lashes are. They're ok but even I'm super in love with them since switching from Dior Show back to Lancome. I also have to say that using EGM's (Earthen Glow Minerals') lash growth serum actually worked. I saw results bigtime within a month, actually before that but significant...1 month. Too bad their websites down at the time I'm writing this but ladies search for either a free sample give away at Nordie's or Sak's or browse up Ebay for a tube of Lancome's mascara.

love love love loveeee this mascara, the color is great, the brush is great everything is great. its brush is curved which is great for holding a curl and getting to every lash. it seperates all my lashed and gives a bunch of length and volume. there is a faint smell but it doesnt bother me and its not like a bad smell, just like normal mascara. it also lasts a long time, it doesnt dry out easily which is good for people like me who arent always careful

Ive been through -alot- of mascaras, more mascaras than I can even count or remember the names of.
Dont know if this is HG material, but, since I havent found anything better yet, Ill let it be my daily.
I get aaaalmost as much size, length, and curl as I want, but it doesnt layer well and goes very clumpy.

Blah. I really really wanted this mascara to work. I applies to heavy for me. WAY TO HEAVY. The colour I have is kinda charcoal-ish. It takes a looong time to dry. The tube is sleek and black, and looks very nice. I think I bought this for like $30. Unless you want too look like a spider I suggest you don't get this. Waste of money.

Years ago, about 25 or so, I used just one mascara, Cover Girl Professional with the curved brush. That formula is long gone and the brush in the most recent version ain't what it used to be. Neither are my lashes, although they are still straight and long and fairly thick (they used to be furry). I decided to try this thin curved brush mascara from Lancome. It's pricey, but I gulped and bought it. The formula tends to be thin, not runny, but not gloppy, gluey. I always rub the wand against the top of the tube to clear off excess product and then push the stuff back into the tube when I'm done. (I used to wipe on a tissue decades ago and boy did I go through the mascara fast, plus some tissue fibers always got onto the brush).

One coat of this mascara does it for me. The effect from this mascara on my lashes is curled, defined, and long, but in a very obvious way. It is not a bad look, certainly not spikey, clumpy, or spidery. It's just not a soft, natural look for me. This look is due to the fact that the mascara doesn't separate each lash at its base and I'm used to this effect.

So I'll use this tube up and go on in search of the best mascara, along with 90% of the female population. I won't repurchase.

This is one of the oldest and highest rated mascaras of all time, or so the advertising for this product goes.

Is it really?

[Pros] Excellent definition/separation of my lashes. I have sparse, asian lashes and this mascara's forumula (I bought waterproof), definitely held a curl, separated my lashes, and lengthened. My biggest surprise was how much it lengthened my lashes. There, it excelled all other mascaras I've ever used. I was shocked to find that my lashes looked a LOT longer. The wand, although traditional looking, was actually very easy, and agile to use. I also loved that this mascara did not flake much on me! I wore it all day, cried in it etc. and there was minimal raccoon eyes. For me, this was a big step up from drugstore brands like LashExact, GreatLash etc. b/c although those other brands lengthened and volumized, they also gave me raccoon eyes and were hard to wash off at night. Not so w/ Lancome.

[Con] The price. This was by far the most expensive mascara I've ever bought ($30 dollars where I live). At the end of the day, I feel it was worth the buy, but it might be too much money for an everyday mascara for many girls.

Overall though, definitely worth the hype. It's my favourite mascara by far, and you can definitely see the difference from drugstore brands. However, for the price, thrifty shoppers might want to opt for a cheaper alternative like LashExact.

i found this lying around somewhere and i immediately tried it as i had ran out of my HG mascara , [ Maybelline Full & Soft ]
i found that this curls my lashes even more, so thats a plus.
it definetly lengthens, but i'm not sure if i like maybelline's better or this.
i do know that if i find this around i will definetly repurchase as it does not flake or irritate my eyes. :]

I love this mascara. So far this is the one I like the most, even though the difference between this one and the rest of my mascaras is not very significant. But still, it's the nearest-to-perfect mascara I've tried on. It lengthens, curls, gives volume, separates my lashes - overall absolutely "high definition". With one layer it gives decent volume, and it's totally layer-able for a more dramatic look without getting clumpy or anything. The formula is more liquidy than some other mascaras, but not like horribly liquidy - it actually dries pretty fast and so far I have no problem with the formula at all. Of course since this is not the waterproof, if u get water to ur eyes, or cry, it smudges. The wand is very use-friendly - the right size and length for my hand to control. 5 stars !!!

Update on Oct 25, 2012

Now after 3 years, I still reach for this mascara frequently (not THE one back in 2009, of course) whenever I want an easy way to vamp up my lashes. Even though this is not the most lengthening, nor the most volumizing, nor the most dramatic, Definicils goes to a considerable extent of every aspect you need in a mascara - this is the most well-rounded of the bunch!
This is the mascara that survives the challenge of time and still wins over new products. I do count on this baby! Highly recommended!

Very liquidy formula that smudges easily. It did definitely separate my lashes, but I felt this wasn't adequate exchange for messiness. This product also made my lashes look sort of spidery and limp. However, I used it as a primer before benefit's badgal lash, and was very pleased with the results.

Will not purchase again...and will possibly return.

This is actually a very good mascara that looks great. I am an eyeliner whore, so I never go without but one of the few times I did, I was wearing this mascara and nothing else and my eyes stood out in pictures. The one flaw I would associate this product with is smudging! I don't know what it is about Lancome mascaras but they all smudge terribly on me. It helps a little when you use the primer but you shouldn't have to do all that for a HE mascara. I would buy this again, though.

I'm really starting to like this mascara. I got it unboxed at DF&CCO for only $10. they had both the normal wand and the pro/curved wand so i grabbed the pro wand.

I love the wand, it's curved and somehow it's able to grab my lashes much better and easier (especially the corner lashes) than regular wands. The formula is very soft but not liquidy, and the amount deposite is very very nice even on one or two swipes (i'm so used to swiping more). It fattened AND lengthened my lashes. The wand is also able to separate my lashes fairly well, enough so that i don't need to use a lash comb. So far it looks a lot like i'm wearing Imju Fiberwig, except it doesn't have the heavy feeling or difficult application that comes with Fiberwig. Also love the very sleek packaging as well.

this is becoming my go to black mascara for every day and night out look. I just hope they have a LOT of unboxed Pro tubes so I can nab another later when i run out XD

NOTE: if it's becoming a bit stiff, try running it under hot water for a bit before applying. chances are with the current cold winter, it's harder for the mascara (and even the lipgloss) staying fluid. i def need to do this a bit
