i don't use sample packets usually but i decided to give this a try one night, not expecting much at all...was i surprised after! i was never excited over a mask because i never experienced an immediate result like this one. so i went ahead and ordered it the next day! yes, it is expensive...but it is worth it for me. i love how this clay mask does not dry on the face like other clay or mud masks. it stays creamy throughout the recommended 10 to 12 min. i tend to stay away from mud masks because i dont like the tight feeling when it dries so this is unique. i do feel slight burning and tingling sensation since i have sensitive skin but it does not irritate my skin at all. i feel that this really detoxifies my pores, therefore brightens my skin, i notice less white heads (i am prone to getting white heads because i dont have large pores and it tends to clog up), texture is much improved, more even and soft. i use it once a week and i recommend jumping in the shower to remove the mask because it gets messy and it is not easy to rub off. i use muslin cloth in the shower to gently but effectively remove the mask. it stains the cloth so designate one cloth for this mask use!

I'm a huge fan of Chantecaille's cosmetics & the jasmine and lily healing mask. The detox clay mask, however, made my skin red in spots -- with a rash, immediately caused a pimple and is messy. I used cotton swabs to remove it, as recommended, but it still gets all over. Would not buy this product; had a sample packet. There are plenty of similar masks out there that cost less.

Over-priced product which did not have great results and it has hydrogenated castor oil in it which I don't think works for acne prone skin.

I, too, LOVE this mask. I have generally good skin but changed my skincare regime a couple months ago which caused all sorts of problems - redness, larger pores, bad texture, etc. Well, I got a sample of this mask along with some other Chantecaille products and within a week my face was back to normal and after the 2nd week my skin looked even better. These products ARE very expensive, but to me the extra cost is worth the great results. I definitely recommend giving this product and this brand a shot.

This is my first product review. I felt compelled to leave a review because of this mask's mediocre rating. I just don't understand the negative reviews at all. This is one of the best masks I have ever used. After using it my skins feels and looks dramatically different.
The first time I used it, I did notice a slight burning or tingling sensation but no more than any other purifying mask I had used prior. After a few uses, I don't even feel it anymore.
Most purifying masks I have tried dry on your face and tighten leaving an unpleasant feeling. This mask stays creamy on your face but still gets the job done.
Does this mask stain your washcloth? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No. Since the mask stays so creamy, you don't need to scrub it off like you would other masks. I can literally rinse 85% of this mask off my face with getting my hands wet and rubbing gently rinsing. The other 14% I use a washcloth to get off... and on those nights, I just use a dark washcloth. For the last 1%, I use a cotton pad with my toner to sweep across my face which is usually left slightly grey.
I have found that using this mask once a week along with my other skin care regimen has helped my minor break outs clear up faster than normal and help prevent a new blemish from showing.
I have combination skin. I normally can't wear a moisturizer with sunscreen because I break out. After using this product I decided to try and introduce a sunscreen into my skin care regimen since I know it is so important. Over the past few months, i have only had one new blemish form. Normally I would break out within days of starting. I Know that this mask is the sole reason I can now handle the added sunscreen.
If you are looking for some kind of ultra luxury experience that leaves you feeling like you just left the pampering spa, this is probably not it. It's not meant to be. It's a serious treatment to address pore size and detoxify your skin. This product does that and more with texture that no other mask has, which is something I expect from a luxury skin care brand.

Received a couple of sample packages of this mask from my friendly Barney's representative and it was spectacular! My pores were super clean and my face was soft and my skin was bright. Splurged and bought a full sized product and am still loving it (9months later). The jar is made of glass so be careful.

I've received a few sample packets of this mask from my Neiman's sales rep, and I'm simply gushing over this wonderful product! It is very expensive for a mask, but it leaves my skin absolutely glowing! I will definitely be purchasing the full sized jar.

I consider scrubs and clay masks as pivotal steps in my skin care routine. This often involves splurging on these products. I decided to try Chantecaille clay mask because it does not dry up, thereby giving an unpleasant feeling of tightness and has got all-natural ingredients such natural ingredients as rosemary, peppermint oil and essence of honey to detoxify skin. Overall I would say that the above product leaves up to advertisement claims: it deeply cleanses skin, removes blackheads and helps to heal blemishes. The mask does not give me any burning sensation or redness. There is a tolerable tingling.
The cons of using this product are as follows. A toner should be used to remove any lingering traces of clay. It is messy to use.

This is ? for a clay mask depending on what you want it to do. It really did not do anything for my pores as far as sucking out the gunk like some of the reviewers said. It did shrink the size somewhat.
It has an offensive smell. Not chemical. Heavily of rosemary. I suggest if you do not like rosemary do not purchase this.
It does not dry and make your skin dry itchy and irritated like a lot of clay masks do. There is one by Caudalie for 1/2 the price, though and it will not stain your washcloth. It performs just as well and you can spot treat blemishes and sleep with it on overnight.
This mask is so black it is blue. I look like an idiot and if I snarl just right in the mirror I look like I'm going off to war. It does stain your EVERYTHING and so I use some sort of toner ( takes a lot and seems wasteful) and large cotton pads to remove this. Not worth ruining my washcloths and having to scrub my basin.
I will not buy this one again. Not because of the mess but because for the $$$ I believe I should save it for H.G. must have's or something that could be.

Although wildly expensive and packed in a messy jar, the product is pretty damn good. This was the easiest mask to put on my skin. I glided on so smoothly and evenly. Waiting was no problem, as I didn't feel any burn like some people do. This mask did not crack or make me feel like my skin was drying. It felt like a spa treatment. Now, my redness is reduced, my skin is neither dry, nor oily, but perfectly in between, and I feel totally relaxed. Merci, Chantecaille.

Hands down the BEST clay mask I have every tried. I've tried Fresh's Umbrian clay mask, Peter Thomas Roth's Sulfur mask, and DDF's sulfur mask. Chantecaille's mask is not drying to the skin. Upon using it, you can instantly feel it affect your pores and problem areas. Washing it off, it left my skin smooth and feeling clean. My pores were smaller also. I made my husband try it also and his skin, though not as sensitive as mine, is a virutal mine of clogged pores and this mask helped significantly. It is also backordered everywhere so if that tells you anything. This is good stuff. Will hunt for more!!

This mask, like any clay mask, cleared a lot of gunk out of my pores, but was super burny! It didn't leave any residual redness or irritation, but now I'm scared of it!

I love this mask. I am a 28yo male who get occasional breakouts and this mask is great at keeping me clear. Even though it doesnt dry it still sucks out the gunk in your pores. The rosemary and honey in this mask also act as an anti-bacterial so no new blemishes occur. Love it

I love Chantecaille, but can't stand this product. It is a basic clay mask. It did nothing that super cheap drugstore masks can't do. What I HATE about this product is the mess it leaves; a filthy thick ring in the sink and it stains towels, washclothes. A mess, an absolute mess. I have never used a mask that did that. So, a messy product, stains things and didn't do anything special... skip it.

This has become my HG mask. I've been using this quite frequently for the pass 3 weeks. about twice a week. I used to have acne, and break-out all over my face, now it's all cleared up. Before I discovered this, I was using pure honey to mask myself. The honey works great, but I feel that it's just "maintaining" my current condition. This clay mask, however, not only maintain what I have, but it also clears my impurities, smooths out EVERYTHING. I put this on generously, browse MUA, and wash it off after 20, 30 min. If you put a decent layer, the mask won't dry up or crack, unlike the other clay masks. Just make sure you put enough, but not slapping the whole jar on, caz this is very pricey. Lastly, take your time and rinse it off gently with warm water. This mask does grab onto your skin fairly well, so make sure you give a little patience, rinse it off with a few extra splashes. Try not to rub~

Boy did my skin glow after using this!!! This is smooth clay mask that applies easily and feels fabulous on - cool, soothing, and gentle, and doesn't cake or tighten like a lot of other clay masks. It's a bit of aromatherapy as well because you can breathe in the rosemary while it's on. It's messy to take down but while it's on you truly feel like your skin is getting a "rest." Once I rinsed everything off, my skin felt good but didn't look any different - but the next day, my skin looked so amazing - I couldn't believe I looked so healthy and radiant after a high-stress, low-rest weekend. One lippie off for the price and packaging - I wish it came in a tube. I cursed myself for using my entire sample packet where really half would have been sufficient (however, you can't store a half-used packet) but now I really want to buy this $75 jar from Chantecaille.

You can feel it pull the impurities out of your skin because it burns! I actually returned it.
