This stuff is amazing. It's expensive compared to its drugstore rivals but it's totally worth it (comes in a really good bottle too). I just wish I'd found it earlier! I have never been able to use even 2.5% bp regularly without major irritation and I was always afraid it would damage my skin so I pretty much avoided bp to the point where I had to go on accutane (i have basically tried every acne treatment out there, be it prescription or home remedy). It is a cream rather than a gel and I think there must be something about this stuff's ph or formulation or something that makes it so gentle.
Anyways, the way I used this stuff is usually every other day I applied a thin layer of it in the areas that I was prone to breaking out over my serum and lotion in the morning, then I applied SPF, and then makeup. I was very skeptical when an esthetician recommended this routine (I was so afraid that it would ruin my skin) but it worked so well that I only saw her one more time--to buy this. I experienced no irritation, you can't tell it's there, and the best thing is it's like kryptonite to acne!
So it was often able to clear me in 3 days , but I am now at the point where I don't actually need to use it regularly anymore; i also use retin a and spiro so I only need this as an occasional spot treatment now. I'd say if you have bad acne you should give this stuff the full month and you should expect to break out regardless....believe me I've had periods of BAD acne over the years and all I can tell you is to consider a multi-treatment approach (maybe add a chemical exfoliant) and be very patient because the only way to get rid of acne is to breakout. Your skin has to get all the crap out in order to be clear and unfortunately, the only way to do that is to breakout--I'm sorry, I know that's not what anyone wants to hear.

I use the 10% because I have extra stubborn acne with cystic acne on my cheeks. Before using Jan Marini, I was using Proactiv, which dried my face out like crazy. Their 2.5% peroxide lotion dried my face out worse than this 10% lotion does! It might be because I use this peroxide after I use the bioclear cleanser and apply the bioclear cream and Factor-A plus cream, but it really does its job to prevent zits and clear up blackheads without drying skin out. I would recommend starting out with 5% if your acne is not severe because that is what the sales reps recommended for me when I was buying this, but I knew my skin was too stubborn for the 5%. If that doesn't work, then I would move up to 10%. Just throwing a warning out there though, be very cautious when buying this (or any kind of face product) on sites like Amazon. I bought a couple Jan Marini products on Amazon one time because I was too cheap to pay full price, but what I ended up buying was knockoffs and my face paid for it for weeks until I solved the problem. I would at least suggest to buy the first bottle on the Jan Marini site and keep it to compare to any other ones purchased through Amazon.

I would give this 3.8 if I could. Seriously, I've been using it for 5 months or so. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just takes forever, the same thing if I just leave my face alone. I don't have mild acne to start with. I break out with new pimples everyday, really sux, and it affects my social life since I was 19 yrs old. I'm 27 now. My acne is more towards moderate to persistent acne. I also have tough skin. I have BP 5% one. I'd like to go up 10% if I don't find this to work anymore on me. I don't have 100% result yet with Jan marini products. My med spa recommended the Bioglycolic cleanser, Bioglycolic Night Cream (kinda rare), and the sunscreen. But, I told him, I'm still breaking out after 1 1/2 months of facial with him. So, he upgraded me with Acne Gel 1% and BP 5%. JM works after I have facial for a maximum of 2 months. But, then I break out like crazy again. The thing that I like of this BP is non drying on me. It's diff from regular BP out there which can be flaky and drying. This is fine for, I can apply it night time, during the day when I'm just lounging at home or 3 times a day. It's watery texture, that's why it's non drying.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this has stopped doing anything to my skin. Even if I apply a large amount, all it seems to do is make the top layer of skin dry and flaky. I won't buy again.
This has worked incredibly at clearing my skin up! I use the 10%, and at first I used it twice a day. But that was incredibly drying, so now I use it once at night. I use about a pea sized amount for my chin, nose, forehead, and any spot, and by the morning everything is so much smoother, and in a couple days whatever had been bugging me is gone. My facialist told me to keep using this even after my skin is clear, but I probably will just keep it for breakouts. I've heard of people becoming immune to benzoyl peroxide, and I REALLY don't want that to happen to me.

These products are my hard-hitters in the acne battle. I use these only as a last resort since they are hard on the skin and cause redness and drying. They work though. I tend to use them to clear up any acne I have and then put them away again until I need them. I don't try to use these as preventative measures since they really are for the purpose of killing bacteria on the skin's surface.

The BEST product you can EVER use to get out from spots!!!!
They disappear in a night!!!!! Even you just feel bump is coming apply this and will never grow....ABCOLUTLY AMAZING
I use 5 % when only 1-3 bumps and apply ONLY on the bump/spot. If i have several then just tiny amount on the affected areas.DO NOT APPLY ALL THE TIME in case you don;t need it and ONLY on areas which need it is STRONG!!!
10% is ONLY for cystic acne or really problematic acne skin
