Background information: I have a combination skin with oily t-zone. I do not have an acne problem, but do get the occasional pimple now and then. When I do get pimples, it is the big inflamed ones that seems to be under the skin. I try as long as I can to leave it alone and let it dry out. These are difficult to handle because you cannot really squeeze them and it takes a long time for it to dry out. If I try to squeeze the pimple, nothing comes out and it only makes the problem worse. Worst case scenarios I have to use a needle to pop a hole in the pimple, so that the pimple goo can come out and does not inflame the area further (this is the most gentle way of popping a pimple, do not use your fingers). I use cotton swabs to squeeze the goo out.
I use this product during the night, which is excellent before and after the pimple has been popped. When I feel that a pimple might be coming, I apply it on that area. I keep applying until the pimple is not too tender, and if the pimple does not seem to disappear I will try and pop it. After popping there will always be some residue left. So I apply this product in order to prevent a new breakout on the same area. With this routine, I usually get rid off the pimple quite fast without scarring. I do get some discolouration for a while, but that might be due to my skin type. I have Asian skin, where discolouration and melanin production sit deeper in the skin, and therefore takes longer time to fade.
I find this product to be soothing, disinfecting and drying out the pimple. I am quite satisfied and will most likely repurchase.

I have been using this for the past 2 months and my skin looks better. My pores are far less congested, my skin is calmer clearer and my acne scars are fading. I use this every night, with one night break. You need to be generous with this, about a large quarter size for my whole face. I have sensitive skin and this does not cause any irritations. It does not clear or help cystic blemishes thou , but for regular blemishes and congested skin this is great!

First off I’d like to share a bit of background on my skin-
I’ve got oily t-zone and I’m EXTREMELY acne prone. I’ve been suffering from acne for years. I’ve tried just about every product (low to high end brands) I’ve found decent results with proactiv, clarisonic, and philosophy. BUT nothing that changed my skin drastically. I’ve been dealing with acne since puberty but it got increasingly so much worse about the last two years. My skin was covered in cyst acne (hurt so badly) I couldn’t go a day without breaking out. It was so weird. I did everything that was recommended but my skin just wasn’t doing what I wished for. When the acne scaring got really bad, to the point my whole forehead was utterly covered in scaring I really felt it was time to move on and try new products and see what other brands can do for not only fixing the acne scaring but to stop me from breaking out as much as possible. I was researching and came across this and Neutrogena’s Acne Control 3-in-1 Treatment. I was leaning towards the cheap Neutrogena since this was 40 bucks more. The reason I ended up choosing this was because I tried Neutrogena’s acne cleanser and toner in the past and let me just say not a good idea. I have Dermalogica’s clearing mattifier which Ive been using for 3 years and I love it. So I figured take the splurge and keep my fingers crossed. I've tried many overnight treatments in my past and most were severely drying, so I really had no clue as to what this would do to my skin. Down below is the day to day update that ive had saved on my computer for weeks. Figured since it has been around 2 wks since I’ve starting using it’s a good time to upload my results so far.
FIRST DAY: woke up with improvements, I’d like to use the word drastic but hey it wasn’t completely gone (but I didn’t expect that since my skin was doing so bad). I could definitely see scaring fading and acne healing. Plus it was the cleanest my skin has felt in years. Even being a user of the clarisonic.
SECOND DAY: I was in awe!!!! Now I must use the word DRASTIC! My skin did a complete 360 and its amazing. I’m so happy I purchased and went with this expensive product. My acne scars are way down and the actually acne itself is down tremendously. Also I have not got a pimple since…very unlikely for my skin!!! I’m use to breaking out every day
THIRD DAY: I’m lost with words….is this really me im looking at?? WOW! Scars are basically all gone now. Acnes basically all gone. Face feels cleaner than ever!
…Same improvements continued each day. :) At the end of wk 1 I actually got my monthly breakout. This time however it was less and it took about 2-3 nights to clear up and get back on my track to clear skin. Once I did get those under control my skin continued to improve and progressed really fast. I’m just so happy about my skin and this fab product. I must recommend this to everybody. I can’t imagine my life without this. Clear skin is truly sexy skin and I can’t believe I finally have found this little miracle. It does more than it says! I best stop rambling sorry guys I’m just so in love! HG! 4ever&always.

Best OTC acne product I have tried, ever. Nothing cleared my skin like this besides Accutane, and even that was accompanied with horrible side effects. The Overnight Clearing Gel has done me no wrong. The absolute most important piece of information I can give about this product is to not be stingy with it. Yes, its a bit pricey, but you really need about a nickel-quarter size worth of gel for each quadrant of your face. It will be really wet, but will dry after 10 minutes. Sleep. Wake up with calmed, not dry, even-toned skin. Watch the redness of pimples, post-acne scars, and that of the general areas of the face go away. You will also find that break-outs are subdued with continued use of this. Stopping new pimples & decreasing appearance of present and past pimples makes this gel quite an efficient, and fast product. Really give this a chance, slather it on, and really watch it work!

This product improved the appearance of my blackheads and a small area of congestion on my cheek area but then it caused my nose to become red and sensitive and break out. I have only been using it a week but it has really irritated my skin. The lady at the counter said I did not need a moisteriser with this product, but it is so drying. I am going to use it occasionally on small areas to clear congestion, not all over my face as the instructions say. Try a sample first before you buy, it's pricey.

I recently got fed up with buying different products for acne, and I never really realized that I should be using things for adult skin instead of teenage skin, even though I'm only 20. I was on birth control a few years ago, for about a year or so and my face was pretty much flawless. I had acne through high school then one day it kinda just cleared then I'd get the random spot here and there. I stopped taking birth control last year after I realized it was making me depressed. Last summer my skin was clear then all of a sudden I broke out like crazy on my lower cheek, jawline and neck. It was after I had got broken up with by my boyfriend and basically had to start my life all over, I was stressed and working all the time, and a few months ago I had shingles. That is painful.
Anyways, I heard Dermalogica was good and I was like well it's a professional brand so I'll try it and just return it if it doesn't work. I bought the MediBac Clearing Adult Acne Kit and it came with sample sizes. I tried the overnight clearing gel, and literally saw no change in the morning. A day later after using it again, I noticed that some bumps that were coming up the day before were completely gone. I do have ones that are like under the skin though that haven't went away yet, and I've been using the system day and night for a couple weeks now. I'm pleased with the results because I don't have any new breakouts, and the bumps I have aren't getting worse. I only gave this product a 4 because I feel like I need to try things daily for a whole month before it will show any difference. I'm just not looking foreward to paying full price for a bottle if it doesn't work wonders on my skin.

Price - expensive, but it lasts for months. I used mine every day for over 3 months and still have half a bottle. The bottle is easy to control how much you put in your hand. It smells fine without a medicine odor. A little goes a long way - I used about 2 pea-sized drops, but apply it sparingly. I put it in my palm and dab it in small dots across my forehead, cheeks, one on the nose, one on the chin, and spread it about my face in light upward motions as instructed in the Dermalogica directions. Many seem to have positive results on this site... I did not notice enough of a difference to fight my acne. Yes, it made a difference, but my acne was too stubborn. It also had no effect whatsoever on blackheads. It had no effect on the painful hormone-related acne I have been struggling with. It did control most of the other little whitehead and red above-surface acne. Hope this helps.

I began using this product 2 months ago because at the time I was using Benzamycin which was doing a good job at clearing my skin, but really drying it out despite the use of a good oil-free moisturizer. Anyhow, I used the overnight clearing gel for about 3 weeks to no avail. In contrast, it broke me out badly, to the point that when I went for my facial, my esthetician said that she could even feel bumps underneath my skin surface. I stopped using it immediately (that was about 5 weeks ago). Since then, I started using my Benzamycin again, but this time I also began to use a toner from Clarins, some glycolic acid/salicylic acid pads I bought at dermstore.com (use every time I do my routine - morning and night), began taking fish oil gel capsules (2x day) and a multivitamin, and I drink chamomile tea like crazy (apparently this helps normalize your blood sugar levels, which in turn mitigates hormonal fluctuations which were a major issue for my skin). I've always used an oil-free sunscreen and over the last two years have been using a tinted moisturizer. Anyhow, now my skin looks great!! Hence, although I only used the dermalogica product for 3 weeks, I couldn't stand to use it longer, so i'm not sure if it would have helped with longer use - but it certainly ruined me for the time I was using it. Personally, I won't be using the dermalogica product ever again.

this really clears up clog pores. You can see the results in a few days' time, though for pimples that have already come up, you might need a stronger product. This is more of a preventive measure for skin prone to oiliness and acne. However, i don't think it can be used as a long-term daily treatment. After some time, it seems to make my skin sting a little, like it has become more sensitive. I intend to give the product and my skin a break in a while.

NC25 Chinese, acne prone skin, early 30s.
Since having done Accutane 5 years ago, the cystic acne is a rare occurance w/ now minimal but regular small red acne bumps along my jawline. Prescribed Tazorac cream was simply too drying and peeling my skin.
Trying the Dermalogica Medibac kit, this was the best product of the bunch. Used daily, this seem to keep my face PROACTIVELY clear and thus reduced forming new bumps. I figured the winning ingredient had to be the 2% salicyclic acid and thus decided to do a comparison w/ the 2% in the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot treatment.
One on each cheek for 2 weeks, and one did not perform better than the other but both were equally effective. Try the test and see if you get similar results and then you can make your purchasing decision.

I have been using this product for two weeks and have noticed my skin is smoother. This product is very gentle and has not irritated my sensitive skin.
I was expecting this to be quite strong as many other spot treatments tend to be. However, it is a very mild gel which is quickly absorbed into the skin.
I have noticed that the blackheads on my nose are much smoother and the spots I normally have around my chin area are a lot smaller and don't seem to be coming back.
I think this is a fantastic preventitive product because the Salicylic Acid helps pores release builtup dirt GRADUALLY. I must stress the word "gradually" here because it is not a strong gel and doesn't have the feeling of immediate results.
In fact, you might even feel that it is not really doing anything. But when I noticed that my nose was smoother and the pimples around my mouth are finally starting to clear up, I realised what a great product this is. For larger pimples, I don't think this product will help as much but as I said, it is great for preventing new pimples from forming or treating existing small ones. It doesn't dry out the skin either, so it it is a nice alternative to products containing benzoyl peroxide.
I would buy this product again.

Gave me a severe red rash. Not sure exactly what the issue is, as I've used other 2% salicylic acid treatments with no ill effects. I would advise to buy the trial size of Dermalogica products before you commit to a full size. They are very pricey and there is no way to tell which are going to work out,

A fantastic preventative treatment - I only use it on the chin area to prevent those pesky hormonal spots. The first of its kind that has ever done the job for me and that I have just rebought. The first bottle is still not empty and has lasted me about 6 months so far, I only need a tiny amount every evening.

I thought it was a little expensive for such a small bottle but, as most of Dermalogica products, it lasts for months! And it was a great investment.
I've just finished my first bottle and I used it EVERY night for 3 months!
Its not super concentrated so its not really good as a spot treatment but its a nice moisturising acne treatment for night time (its hard to find both!)
I have also worn it during the day when i spend the whole day at home and my skin didn't get oily or over-dry
Buying a new one tomorrow :)
Definitely recommend!

I got it to get rid of pimples and it does its job! Its a bit sticky (annoying when sleeping) when it dries and it flakes off but it doesn't really matter because its a night gel.

I use this as a spot treatment primarily because the bottle is so tiny I can't imagine it lasting more than two weeks if I used it on my entire face. So far, I really like it. When I get blemishes, they're really stubborn and they seem to stay on my face for an eternity. I have been using the clearing gel for a couple of days so far, and I've definitely noticed that my blemishes have reduced in size. The main ingredient in this is 2% salicylic acid and I find this particular formula to be soothing to the skin. I prefer salicylic acid spot treatments over benzoyl peroxide that irritates, dries out, and reddens my skin. Although I like this overnight clearing gel quite much, it is rather expensive, so I will try the origins spot treatment next because it's significantly cheaper.

I have bought this twice since I started using it 3 years ago. It is a mild yet effective product which I believe is due to a good balance of sacylic acid and lavender.
I apply it on pimples which do not have a head and it does shrink in size after a day or two. What I love about it is that it does not sting like other products containing sacylic acid so it does not irritate skin that is already inflamed.

For the first 2 weeks of using this product, I didn't notice any difference and was about to give up on it. But I thought since it contains 2% salicylic acid, it should help clear acne. So I decided to put multiple layers (one after another after the bottom layer dries) on areas with pimples, acne, spots and whatever bumps on my face. And I DEFINITELY noticed reduced swelling and some of my small pimples actually went away overnight!!! However, it's not as effective on bumps (those annoying acne that does not have 'heads'). I'm definitely going to re-purchase this (but hopefully I wont have to after this bottle) as it doesn't cause my skin to peel off and is not over drying.

I used this along with the active moist moisturizer and noticed the difference in my skin in a two-three day period.
