I bought this shampoo after seeing lots of websites and models mentioning the product. I'm always looking for a slightly cheaper, but good quality shampoo that does amazing things for my hair. I've been unlucky so far, with only the (expensive) Keratese range taming my hair (it tends to catch static and tangle and the tops more than I would like it to). I gave this a go, I wanted to like it, but unfortunately, it isn't really working with my hair. It made my scalp quite itchy, left build-up, and worst of all, it made my hair super frizzy! However, it apparently reduced dandruff (my mom pointed this out, but I don't think so). I think the dandruff reduction may also be helped by a natural oil I'm using for my hair... so I'm not too sure about this either.
This is an ok shampoo that didn't live up to it's expectation.

I have been using silicone free products for about four months and decided to get a clarifying shampoo to use after the occasional use if a silicone based oil. This is fab, admittedly after rinsing the shampoo off, my hair felt a bit squeaky and dry, but one the lemon clarifying conditioner was applied it felt lovely. Once dry it was soft fluffy and shiny. Plus it smells Devine, love it!

This is my HG shampoo! I've been using natural, sulfate-free products for about three years and during that time I've tried many shampoos. I have Asian hair that has a tendency to fall flat but is very easy to take care of.
I've been using this shampoo for a week now and it leaves my hair so smooth, fluffy, shiny, and fresh smelling. A lot shampoos tend to leave a coating which makes my hair tangle but this one leaves nothing behind and my hair feels so light and I can easy run my fingers through my hair without even the need to comb after taking a shower.
I also use conditioner only about once a month on my ends and this shampoo has not dried my hair at all. My hair is at its best when it is completely clean and not weighed down.

This smelled divine and did a squeaky clean job on my hair and scalp. It is incredibly drying, though. So for my thick, coarse hair this was not a good choice.

This shampoo just didn't work for me. I've been using sulphate free shampoos for over 4 years now and this is definitely one of the worst ones I've tried. My hair is well past my shoulders, oily, but my scalp is sensitive and I've had about 5 keratin treatments in the past 3 years so I've tried many different sulphate free shampoos. I've never colored my hair but this shampoo, for some strange reason, made my naturally dark brown hair lighter. It left a heavy residue after washing (which is quite odd for a clarifying shampoo) and because of that I'd have to wash my hair again after less than 24 hours. I think the only good thing about it is it's smell; it has a very lemony scent which I adore. But overall, not only did this product not do what is meant to do but it made my hair worse. Would not repurchase but I'd be open to trying other products from this brand.

I was SO disappointed in this product. It smells AMAZING, but my scalp broke out in sores. I had gone from only shampooing my waist length hair in conditioner and decided to try this because it was in a co-op and smelled wonderful. I looked up the ingredients and was disappointed with what I found. I have had reactions to chemical shampoos ever since i went to plain organic conditioners. Don't risk it with this one if you're sensitive to chemicals.

DRIES OUT HAIR! My blond highlights didn't like this at all....my hair felt like straw afterwards...amazingly gorgeous scent of lemons but better for dishes than hair as it's just too drying and contains some chemicals so it's not as organic as all that.
If you have colored hair, avoid this one.

I do not think this is the best clarifying shampoo for my dyed blonde hair. I like the fact this product is organic-ish but thats about it. I prefer john frieda 'go blonder' shampoo.

I bought this because I was looking for a clarifying shampoo for occasional use. My hair is pretty normal and I don't put products in it, but because it is long, it takes oil from my scalp a long time to get to the ends and moisturize them. So, I wash my hair less often than many people in order to keep the ends moisturized, and this occasionally leads to a bit of oiliness on my scalp. I like a number of Avalon products (the biotin shampoo is very nice!) and I found this on sale, so I thought it would be a good choice for eliminating occasional oiliness or a bit of buildup. But I was so wrong! The scent is wonderful, but the product really does not clarify. In fact, it seems to do the opposite -- it made my scalp very flaky, which is something that has happened to me only a few times in my life. A very disappointing product.

I like this shampoo. First off, I am very concerned about avoiding harsh chemicals in my daily hygiene routine, but finding affordable chemical-free shampoo is very difficult! Even though a lot of products are self-advertised as 'natural', if you look at the content they really aren't all that natural, often starting with sodium lauryl sulfate, a chemical that help the product create a lather. This product has an ok rating in terms of the safety of its chemical content (see EWG's Skin Deep website). It smells really good and is much cheaper than alternatives such as Glossy Locks or Living Nature.
Update: this shampoo contains coco-betaine which is not safe.

I bought it because it smelled heavenly. I have a thing for citrus scents. Furthermore, I thought this shampoo would work great on my hair (oily scalp).
Well, it didn't. It lathered all right for me. I made sure my hair was sufficiently wet and I really worked the shampoo into my hair. The problem was that the shampoo did not wash out properly. There was residue and buildup on my scalp, which left my scalp itchy.
I've since tossed it. It gets 3 lippies instead of 2 because of the lemon fragrance.

Well, for starters, this smells absolutely lemony!! Like it's freshly squeezed. None of that bad artificial sweet lemon type.. But a refreshing scent. It does lather well on thoroughly wet hair. As I have rather oily hair which definitely needs a daily wash, this cleans my hair well enough. Though not as squeaky clean as I'd like it to be, but it doesn't feel as drying nor tangled given that I do not use conditioner after. No scalp irritation as yet but will update with prolonged usage. I have in hand as well the tea tree scalp treatment shampoo also from Avalon organics line which I feel cleanses more thoroughly.. Giving me that squeaky clean feel to let me know my hair is free from all the gunk and hair oil. Both shampoos are great! I just feel that the tea tree one does a better job at clarifying! Both smell divine and are absolutely value for money considering they are organic shampoo! Will continue to buy if it does not irritate my sensitive yet oily scalp with continued usage! :)

I was going to buy the Lavender because I like the smell better, but I decided on the Lemon because my hair gets quite oily. I really like this shampoo a lot! It cleans well and makes me feel good inside because it doesn't have SLS and other bad chemicals. About the lathering, I have found that you really have to get your hair WET and work the product through the hair vigorously. As I said, my hair gets pretty oily (I wash my hair every 2-3 days) so I sometimes wash it twice. It lathers like a dream the second time. This is a good shampoo and not too bad for the price. It might be more than most of the drugstore brands, but I think it is worth it to have a shampoo that is natural and safe.

I've been using this shampoo, along with the conditioner for a few weeks and my hair hasn't looked better in as far back as I can remember! I have almost waist length, thick, straight hair, and I don't use much product in it so there isn't much to "clarify" to begin with. When used with the conditioner, I have found that my hair gets less tangled/more manageable every day. It also looks thicker and healthier in general, and dries naturally without looking as frizzy as it used to (still some frizz, but I've mistreated my hair for a number of years and can't expect it to look perfect). I will definitely be buying this product again, though I am planning on trying the peppermint variety (nothing wrong with the lemon, but I love the smell of mint and, as mentioned, don't need much clarifying).
Only cons: It's expensive and hard to find where I live.

i really REALLY wanted to love this shampoo. it's lemon scented, organic, SLS/paraben/cruelty free. wasn't too thrilled about the price, $11 for an 11oz bottle at CVS [got the shamp/cond for $16 total online]. the reality is this did not work for me at all. I have medium length fine hair and not a lot of it. I rarely brush it and almost never use product on it so i guess there wasn't much to clarify. I can usually get away with washing my hair every 3-4 days but with this by the 2nd day it looks like i haven't showered in weeks. because it's almost all natural it doesn't lather much so i find myself using way more than i should just make it feel like it's working. such a shame because the scent is amazing!

LOOOVE the scent! LOOOVE the way it removes all gunk from your hair giving you a fresh start to apply your conditioner. I usually use J&J Baby Shampoo b/c I don't want harsh shampoo's and conditioners on my head! But, the Baby Shampoo doesn't remove conditioner build up and other impurities from water and such. I just got this a week ago from Walmart and I love it. The price is HIGH for such a small ass bottle. But, ugh, I have to use this. I use Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Conditioner and my hair is Fine and Straight. Lovely combination. :-D

I bought this from Waitrose on a whim. It clarifies well -- removes build-up from my Kerastase serums and Biolage conditioners -- and is gentler than my Tresemme/ Matrix clarifiers.
Great zesty smell! My first sulphate free shampoo -- I was expecting it to be less effective at removing silicone build up. Nice surprise. Might switch to this clarifier permanently because it doesn't dry out my coarse hair, it seems to actually have left it softer and lighter than most shampoos.

I agree with all the reviewers below me who said that this is the worst Avalon Organics shampoo for oily hair. Unfortunately, I bought this shampoo before I knew about MUA, so I had no reviews to rely on. I thought clarifying meant it would keep the oil off my scalp. Instead, it left my hair greasy and with product build-up (of the shampoo itself) and after a week of using it, I felt like I hadn't washed my hair in a week. I quickly ditched this. Mum picked it up and used it as a laundry wash instead.
Since then, I was scared to try out other Avalon Organics shampoos. I tried out the Lavender Nourishing Shampoo though and it worked wonderfully well. It's now one of my HG shampoos!

Very Strong Lemon Smell! Brings out highlights you didn't know you had! You definitely will need conditioner with this as it is slightly drying. Good clarifying shampoo to remove product build up or color that is too dark.

I am looking for a great organic shampoo/conditioner to use, so I tried this. I love love love the scent; always get great comments on the smell of my hair. Smells delicious. Probably wasn't a great idea to use it on my died hair, since lemon promotes natural highlighting. Made my hair copper colored after I had died it deep brown. The shampoo doesn't lather so great, so I find I need to use quite a bit to get a decent lather. Otherwise, it is alright.. though I find it pricey.. I spent $7 US for a bottle of shampoo and another $7 for the conditioner.. totally like 17 bucks..
