This is an OK powder foundation for short-terme wear, because it turns orange very easily. I only use this during a shoot where the MU is washed away quickly. I do not consider this as a versatile product as Smashbox says, because it is very easy for this to become too powdery. Even if they had some gorgeous neutral colors, this does not live up to its claims. The only thing I like from this fdn-powder-all-in-one is that the compact it comes with is a long sleek thin box, and that it includes a huge mirror.

Pros:
Great on it's own and as a setting powder
Doesn't look cakey
Cons:
Looks terrible if you apply it with a dense brush
This product has never made me look orange. I love it as my setting powder because it provides a little bit more coverage and makes my face look matte and flawless. I like using a large fluffy brush with this product and I would NOT recommend using the sponge that comes with the product because of hygienic and application reasons.

I purchased this with hopes of applying it dry and wet. Wet sponge and this product...big no no! Works great as a powder to dust off shine with a brush. I hate the sponge. The fact that it is not a versatile as it seems--a tad bit overpriced for me.

I agree with all the reviewers who turned orange. I looked like I had a fake tan which wouldn't bother me if the color matched lol I didn't like the coverage either. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it.

like others i noticed this turning orange especially using it over smashbox liquid foundation. bums me out cuz i didn't notice it until recently, then came here and read the reviews (wish i would have read them b4 buying!) packaging isn't bad, but the product sucks so who cares about the packaging?

After applying this product, my face was saying "wrong tan, big time." It's not heavy or cakey, if it's dull looking, but becomes a fake tan on my skin. Also, I had to really dig in with a wet sponge to use it wet, which was so hard. I was hooked into its claim for versatility, but I feel cheated after trying it out. As a powder, it's okay, I only wish it wasn't orangey.

Goes on powdery, but after a while melts in. Very good colour match for me, I have trouble finding yellow enough foundation (The L1-L2 shade is about NC 20-25). I recommend using a flocked sponge or puff to apply this rather than the sponge that it comes with it for medium coverage. The sponge neither picks up the powder nor transfers the powder well. DID NOT work with a wet sponge, even though thats one of its selling points! Does a good job at controlling shine. My first one lasted me only 2.5 months, which isn't very long, so I find it expensive. Doesn't work for me in the winter, causes flakiness as most powders will.

I really love this foundation. I really wanted another powder foundation to alternate with my dior forever compact. I have a fair complexion and I use this in f1-f2. I am about an nc 20-25 so I can also see how this can be too dark for some complexions. I hate powders that have talc in it because it feels dry on my skin. I liked how this one was talc-free, and also paraben free! It feels nice on and it really smooths and evens out my skin tone. In comparison to the dior one, the finish one this is more natural. The dior one is more brightening. And I feel that the smashbox powder gives me a more polished look. It gives good coverage but it still looks natural, not heavy or cakey. I also love the case! it's sleek and black and comes with a large mirror inside.
edit:
after using it a for a few months I don't think it's that great anymore. The texture and coverage is perfect, but like other people have said, the color is just off.....especially for people with fairer skin. It just seems a little too dark or yellow. I think it does oxidize on my face I would not recommend.

This turned orangey on me. Also broke me out. Didn't cover that much even when used with the #19 Smashbox brush (it's supposed to provide medium coverage but that wasn't the case. I use this brush with my Hourglass Oxygen Powder Foundation and it works great). Also, this is $42 CAD and at first I thought 'this is less expensive than my Hourglass foundation' but apparently it's not because this foundation is less in quantity than the Hourglass (by half of the quantity of the Hourglass one). Also, during the day this became blotchy and didn't fade well. Not impressed with it.

This is fast becoming my go-to foundation for all seasons. It covers well without a powdery, cakey look. Works well with concealers and the mirror on the lid is large enough to use for on-the-go fixups. My only issue with this foundation would be the difficulty I have had in using it wet for greater coverage. The instructions say to use it damp with the sponge or brush which, I assume, means dampening the said tool before swirling over the product. I have never seen a product so bent on resisting damp brushes and sponges. It simply settles down further into the pan, and refuses to apply. There is no other way to describe it. :-)
However, used dry, this works great! Whether or not I use a foundation underneath, or a concealer, I always end up with natural-looking, even-toned skin. What more could a girl want?
ps. I have tried using this with the smashbox healthy FX foundation, and I find that this fixes the creamy product and makes it last just a bit longer without drying out my skin.

Ok, let me just start by saying this product alone is not good. If you use this in conjunction with the healthy FX liquid foundation from Smashbox, it is great! This makes me kind of sad, though...because I end up spending $80 for foundation simply because I have to use the two products together. Also, I wish they would make lighter shades. I am fair, but not as fair as Nicole Kidman, and I struggle with this and I have the lightest shade available in both the FX and this. Why I like it is because it does seem to adjust. It works well with the liquid FX and it makes me look complete/finished. I hate that I like the combo of the two. Unless I find something better, I will probably continue to use these. I like that the FX has SPF and then I dust this over top. When I used StudioFix from MAC, I am without SPF and that is not good! So, use caution with this product. Like I said, I do not like this at all when it is used on its own. I feel like a sucker for falling into this trap of using two expensive products. This is very VERY pricey at about $36-38 here in USA. The FX liquid is about the same price-$36-38. AGH!

Oh my - I did not like this at all. First of all - it is very chalky and the powder does not seem of high quality - - i.e. it is really not that smooth and can harden up in the compact. Trust me - swipe your finger over Estee Lauder's Doublewear Powder or Guerlain's Parure powder and then try this. See the difference? Very poor quality. Reminds me of Merle Norman's powder foundation which was a definite disappointment. Color selection is very poor and lightest shade is for light/med skin tones - pale skin beware!
This did not smooth over my skin nicely - it left a powdery residue (I used a sponge, I always do for fuller coverage) and did not cover up anything! Did not provide me with a "glowy" look and was quite honestly - pointless. My natural skin looked a lot better.
I do not recommend at all - and to be honest, I have found drugstore formulations that perform higher - although I tend to stick to high-end, or luxury brands.

I LOVE this product!! I bought this before even reading reviews. I go into sephora every now and again to play around with the products. Since I had full makeup on, I usually just put the powders on my hand with an applicator to see how they look. I went into the store several times, and everytime I was drawn to this powder. I would put it on my hand and be in amazement for the rest of the day at how wonderful the match to my skin was, how flawless it made my skin look, and how the color match was almost perfect. I was apprehensive to buy the product because it is $36 for a little swatch. I finally broke down and bought it. I put this on my skin and it looks FLAWLESS!! I brushed some bronzer over it and can't believe how great my makeup looks. My makeup usually blotches half way through the day and looks crappy, but this lasts virtually all day. This is my new HG product for sure!! The only turn off is the price, but the compact it comes in is lovely.
EDIT: I have been using this product for almost a month now, I have had absolutely no weird oxidations with this foundation. My only complaint is I am starting to run out in a month, and I do not use this with a heavy hand!

Decent foundation, but crazy shade changes! Beware, it starts out looking reasonable, then can turn you into Magda from There's Something About Mary. In the store, the palest shade looked great for my yellow-toned, pale skin. I applied it in the morning, looked okay- then an hour or so into it, a sweet coworker actually asked "What did you do to your face?". Thank goodness she said something. The extreme orange spray-tan look in March is embarassing, especially when your neck is snow-coloured. Pale MUAers, watch out!

First let me say that the packaging is great. It's thin enough to fit perfectly in my make up bag. Secondly, I was able to apply it evenly without much effort and it felt really silky on my skin. I love that it didn't feel like I was wearing make up. I had a problem with the color. It was way too orange for me - like fake spray tan orange. I would say the coverage is medium but that only may be because the color I had was too dark. Also, I wouldn't recommend for those of us in warmer climates (FL here). My skin is more oily here and there is a sweat factor. The foundation didn't hold up to light sweating - it practically melted off. Just having my sunglasses on was enough to wear off the foundation on that part of my nose making my skin look splotchy. This product wasn't for me - ah, the search continues...

I was looking to replace my usual Studio Fix, when I stumbled into Sephora. Ok, I "stumble" into Sephora a couple times a week ;). I decided to try something new and bought this in the lightest shade. In fact, they only had the lightest shade and the two darkest in stock. Luckily, the color was doable, although next time, I will go a shade darker. It latest beautifully through the whole day and long after work. I get an oil slick on my forehead after a few hours of Studio Fix, so I was pleasantly surprised with this product. It never built up, oxidized, or slipped off. This is my new HG foundation. I will never go back to Studio Fix. This stuff is like gold! I also loved the packaging, very Nars-like. I used the sponge at first, then switched to a Mac foundation brush.

I am impressed with this product. I am always on the hunt for a good powder compact that is non-comedogenic and looks good after 8 hours. I work long hours and it's important that my makeup also doesn't look like a mud slide on my face at the end of the day. My oily combination skin has proven a challenge for me to find a good product that not only has staying power for me, but also looks good for my Asian skin. So with all that said, I am enoying this multi-functional formulation from Smashbox. It comes with a dense black rectangular sponge that you can use on the powder wet or dry.
You can use this product 5 different ways - with a fan brush for sheer coverage, a loose powder brush for light coverage, or with a kabuki brush for medium coverage. For full coverage, you can achieve with one of several ways: apply with a damp foundation brush and blend out with the sponge, or apply wet or dry with the sponge.
I have used it for full coverage with both a foundation brush and the sponge and it both methods look really good. It has a matte finish that doesn't look cakey, and a little goes a long way. It's very natural-looking on my skin and covers redness and blemishes nicely. This is my favorite compact foundation of the moment! Smashbox impresses yet again!

Finally, a powder foundation that isn't powdery or cakey on me. I've always loved the convenience of a powder type foundation but I could never wear one with success due to my dehydrated skin. Those powder foundations would just suck out all the moisture I hardly have off my skin and make me look 20 years older. Function 5 doesn't do that. It feels so comfortable, never dry, never cakey, never powdery. I apply it using a denser powder brush over a primer. I've tried with various primers from high end to low end. The result you get is the same - beautiful. The coverage is good enough for my "light" days. I have yet to try it wet for more coverage someday.
