This is a coarse sea salt scrub in an oil base with aromatherapy benefits. For the best exfoliation, massage it onto dry or just slightly damp skin...don't try to apply this with the shower on full blast because the salt crystals dissolve and wash away quickly. The oil base helps to buffer the coarseness of the salt so it's not irritating or too scratchy on the skin. The problem I have with this scrub is the fragrance. It's pleasant in small quantities, but the steam in my shower amplifies it to the point where I find it hard to breathe. The aroma is supposed to be relaxing, but I find it more invigorating - there's a herbal-citrusy zest to it. If it wasn't for the respiratory irritation I experienced with this, I would repurchase. I'll go back to my original fave - Fresh Brown Sugar body scrub.

This is my favorite body scrub. I love the smell - kind of earthy and sweet but not too sweet. Most importantly the scrub granules are the right size and texture for a good body exfoliation. I use it on dry skin before showering. I just repurchased after using my first jar.

the softness this producted yielded was very nice... but i could not stand the smell after rinsing off the scrub... it smelled like rancid olive oil. When i returned the product, the SA told me it may have been the smell of patchouli in the product that i was turned off by. :(

I've always wanted to try out Origins skincare for the body and I was looking to buy a good scrub. After doing the math, this one is actually cheaper per ounce then any that they sell ($2.12 per oz). Even cheaper then the limited edition two-pack of the Incredible Spreadable Scrub™ ($2.20 per oz). You get a HUGE amount of scrub for your money, which I like!
The container is more about looks and for show, then it is useful. It has a rubber ring that acts as a seal, to keep the product from drying out. However; you have to make sure that you wipe off any tiny pieces of salt that can stick around the edges or it won't seal right. Mine came with some kind of wooden whisk, I'm not sure what that's for? (Wood absorbs things: oils, color & scents) Thankfully, I had picked up a plastic B&BW scoop a while back, on clearance and I still hadn't used it. If you can deal with the container and the fact that it can be messy, you will be rewarded! I am not taking a Lippie off because of the container, unless it gives me serious problems. This scrub is awesome and that's coming from a cleansing-sugar-scrub-lover:)
The scrub itself is something I would expect to not only find, but to be used in a Day-Spa or similar! It has a very strong scent, that I can only describe it as "herbal". (Maybe some of the Perfumistas can help on that?) The scent that lingers, both on my skin and in the shower is just amazing! I've only used it once and my bathroom smells like a spa! It doesn't take much product either. I used my little scooper for my entire upper body, then I took out another scoop for my legs. I'm not into salt scrubs, usually, but I do like this one. The salt exfoliates nicely, it doesn't dissolve as fast as my beloved sugar scrubs and the oils carry it further, so I need less product. It is packed with oils, to the point that I felt like I needed to re-wash my chest and decolletage because I was afraid it would break me out. That's my only problem with scrubs in oils, I don't feel clean. I feel the need to wash before because they don't contain cleanser AND after because the oil is heavy. I haven't been using a scrub on my legs because shaving has been enough exfoliation, but with the cold weather coming, I'm finding dry patches. When I was in the shower, I thought for sure I wasn't going to keep this product...until I got out! My legs are incredibly soft, not dry or rough patches, at all! I didn't even shave! lol! (I wouldn't shave & use this scrub on the same day) My arms were also silky soft and lightly scented! I am in love with this product! If you skin tends to be dry, you could probably use this all year round. For me, I think it's better suited for cold weather and I'm hoping it will last me all Winter long. I will be buying it again, either when I run out or next Fall/Winter. Oh yes, I will spend the $45 because it is worth it:)
UPDATE:11/06/07 I'm taking a lippie off. The black rubber ring that acts as a seal on this container decided to pick a fight with me--while my hands are slicked up from the scrub--standing naked in my shower! I'm seriously trying to figure out something else to put this in. Origins needs to do the same--this container is going to the downful of this scrub:(

I am a body scrub junky, this is a Great scrub, smells clean, doesn't dissolve too quickly, good scrubbing grains not too harsh. A bit on the expensive side, but will repurchase.

Expensive-yes. Fantastic-yes!! Bought this after a demo by a SA at the origins store. Their salt scrub in the glass jar is too harsh for my skin, but this is heavenly. It scrubs, but also disintegrates on your skin. Smells very earthy and clean. Made my skin so incredibly soft. I also bought the Dr.Weils lotion because it went so nicely with the scrub.

I am...in awe.
I'd been looking for the perfect body scrub for six months and I finally found it at Origins. Before I begin, let me say this body scrub is $48. Ridiculous? I agree. Worth every penny? Oh yes.
I was skeptical. Even after I used it on my hands AND feet at the Origins store. But I bought it because the scent of matcha tea just took it's hold on me. And my abused feet, always peeling at the heels and soles, looked so beautiful and felt so soft afterward.
I use the scrub just twice a week. I'm not lying when I say the scent will stay on your skin for two days, the softness will last a little longer. I prefer salt scrubs over sugar ones. I like the roughness. I like the oils that don't wash away completely, leaving your skin glowing and soft and smelling so good.
I have a small gripe. it doesn't come with a scoop or stirrer or anything, they will try to sell you one for a $1. Luckily, I had one left over from another scrub. Also, the rubber ring around the jar that seals in the moisture and keeps water out popped off the jar the third time I opened it. In all the jars I've used it my lifetime, I've never had that happened, let alone on a product this expensive, so I give it a 2 for package quality.
But truth be told, I am perfectly satisfied with this scrub. I'm making sure it lasts me a while, definitely through the harsh New York winter. It cost more than most of my utility bills, though, so I won't buy it again.
