I decided to review this color (Black Plum) because it's still available. My true favorite is sheer blackberry, but I can't find that one in stores anymore. I bought this color as a substitute, and I love it. I prefer sheer lipsticks and stains because I like how light they feel, and that the texture of your lips shows through, and this lipstick doesn't disappoint. The color is a sheer brown berry, which I think complements my skin and eyes well. Although I wish I could still get sheer blackberry (which is more violet,) I am happy to have found this one!

I bought this at Sephora after discovering that Black Raspberry AND Black Honey were sold out. I usually wear pink/berry colors, and I would agree with the reviewer below me who described Black Plum as sheer purplish berry brown -- doesn't sound that nice, but it is...in the tube, at least. On my pigmented lips, it barely shows up -- I might as well be wearing nothing! :-( I am going to get Black Honey from eBay and see if that works out better -- I like the packaging and consistency of Almost Lipstick, so here's hoping! Won't buy this color again though.

I love this AL, as I do the other ALs I have. I didn't realize it was LE, so I think I'll buy a back-up for sure. As much as I like this product in Black Honey, Almost Plum is much more suited to my skin tone. I think BH is a bit more red, while this has more of a violet tone to it (obviously); I really love this layered over a stain (I use Clinique's Cranberry Cream for that), but it's also gorgeous on its own.
I did take off a lippie because you have to reapply, but I think that's sorta the nature of a not-quite-lipstick product.

I wanted to like this. I DO like the color on me better than I like the black honey (I am NW25). But I don't like that it really dries out my lips. I need to wear a gloss over it to keep them conditioned. And as long as I am doing that, I'd rather get a burts bees lip shimmer in fig. It's cheaper.

I LOVE THIS! I always wanted to like Black Honey but it turned really hot pink on me?! Don't know why. Black Plum is perfect on my pigmented lips. It actually looks very brownish plum on me...no hints of berries or pinks in it. It's a great color and I am bummed that it's LE. Oh well. I bought a back up already.

Black Plum (along with Black Raisin and Black Raspberry) is a LE shade for Fall 2007. As the name suggests, Black Plum is sheer reddish-purplish-brown. The color is nearly identical to Black Raspberry (which I also love), only Black Plum is a little warmer and has the *slightest* hint of shimmer. I really like this layered for a more dramatic, evening look, since the little bit of shimmer “dresses it up” a bit. For everyday, I’ll just swipe on a layer or two, and it gives my lips a hint of juicy-looking color and shine. The staying power is definitely not great (1-2 hours), but it reapplies easily. Blotting and layering builds up the intensity and increases the staying power. Since this is a LE shade, I already bought a back-up. A lot of stores I checked are already out of the new Almost Lipstick shades, so get these if/while you still can.

I bought this based on my experience with Black Honey. It's got the same texture (duh), and the colour was closer to my lip colour. It looks very dark in the tube, but don't worry, it's actually really sheer. Black Plum is a very autumny colour, and as the name suggests, plummy. It looks more like a lip stain when I have it on. I love how it's kind of an in-between lippie and gloss, and yet moisturising to the lips. Clinique was having a promotion when I bought it - buy any product from their Fall collection and get a Buttershine lippie (Delovely) for free. Of course, that made it even easier for me to make up my mind. =P Now, should I get a Black Honey for back-up? hmm...

I went to the Clinique counter, thinking I would buy the cult favorite, Black Honey, but ended up carrying away this one instead. It's very dark in the tube, but once on, is a sheer, plum color (violet-burgunday). It functions best as a tinted balm, which is exactly what I was looking for! The consistency of it is also nice -- not too waxy or hard.

On me, this was plum with a hint of brown. Not too dark, went on very sheer. I would imagine this would be my lip color if I had naturally pigmented lips like some of you lucky ladies. I do wish it was creamier, but I guess it is very smooth and none of that sticky feeling. I would definitely repurchase and probably will so I can have a back-up. I also got Black Raisin which has a touch more brown and I'll probably get a back-up of that one. These two are what I always wished Black Honey was on me.

I actually didn't buy this lipstick but I did try it on at Macy's. I thought at first that maybe I could like it so I walked around first. I looked at it in different lighting and throughout different stores in the mall. I came up w/the same conclusion everywhere: It was just way too purple on me. It is a really pretty color just not for me. It made me look dead. I do recommend it for others though. I liked the way it was so moisturizing and not tacky or sticky in the least bit. I eneded up getting the Black Raisin which is a really pretty sort of brownish color. Unfortunately, the Black Raspberry wasn't available.

Nice sheer color for Fall. Similar to Black Raspberry, but with more brown tones to it. Black Raspberry is deeper, more wine colored. Black Plum is also very pretty and natural and moisturizing.
