I am actually quite disappointed with this product, even though I generally like Dermalogica's products.
I think I bought the one with a new formula which is in a tube. The tube packaging is quite ok (hygienic and practical), except from the fact that the tip of the tube broke off the other day, leaving it inside the screw cap. Now, it cannot be capped.
The reason why I am disappointed with this product is not due to its acne-treating qualities, but because it does not hold up to what the product promises. You are supposed to pat a small amount the treatment on the acne (don't pop the acne!), blend it out and then you can use it under the make-up. This way, you can treat the acne during the day without anybody noticing, which should be genius for busy young women.
Here are the reasons why it does not work (at least for me): First of all, the colour is too orange, making it difficult to blend with the skin. I have tried to put concealer over it, but the product dries quickly, making it rub off when I apply the concealer. Second of all, the patting and blending of the product. After applying a tiny amount, you are supposed to wait five seconds and pat so that the product blends into the skin. The problem with the patting is that the product does not stay on the acne, but easily gets transferred to my finger, leaving nothing on the acne.
I have been quite frustrated with the product, and I went back to my dermatologist who sold me the product and explained my problems with it. They could not see that I was doing anything wrong when applying and suggested that I could return the product. I kept the product though, since it is still good at combating acne. But I only use it when I am home, after work. Which is a shame, since that was not the reason why I bought this product. I wanted what the product promised, which is a acne-treatment that can work during the day and under makeup.

This is ridiculously orange - I do not know how it matches peoples skin tone naturally. I have very very pale skin and for this reason I have only been able to use this at night. It works fairly well to dry out those pesky spots, but possibly a little too well as I then have to deal with the dry scabby skin where the blemish was.

I love dermalogica in general but only 2 lippies for the awful colour!

I tried a sample of the new formulation and I'm so glad I didn't buy it because it was awful. It smelled terrible and was just so orange. Unless you've got a horrible fake tan, there is no way this will match your skin tone. It was also cakey and difficult to apply.

I tried the new formulation (bought March 2012) and I thought it was awful. It was a really orangey product and looked absolutely ridiculous. I'm pretty fair (Warm Ivory in Bobbi Brown foundation) but not ghostly. You would need to be wearing some serious fake tan for this to match your skin. It didn't cover spots any better than my Laura Mercier Secret Concealer. I have no idea if it clears spots because I couldn't wear it long enough to find out, which I know is not helpful in a review, but the priority here is that is discretely covers the spot, surely. This was like a big, orange signpost.

MEH......this spot treatment gives me mixed feelings. It doesn't cover any redness for me, so the concealing part is ineffective with my zits, and it takes a while to reduce a pimple. I notice a faster effect when i combine it with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, but hey the spot treatment is probably riding on their coat tails!

Note: I've only ever used the "new" formula.

This is a very fast acting spot treatment. For me, if I apply the treatment to a spot in the morning, leave my face make-up free, and apply maybe once in the afternoon, the majority of the pimple will be gone by evening, even my cystic acne. Usually will be gone in 24 hours for me. However, the tint is incredibly unflattering on my NC15 skin.

This is the fastest acting and best spot treatment I've used, however the tint is really putting me off. It's nothing concealer can't fix, but the point is to be able to use this as a concealer itself, with or without makeup. If they improve the tint available, I'd definitely buy again.

I certainly haven't found a product like this before.
I like cosmetics that don't have too much crap in it but of course, I want it to be effective.
This is one such product.
It contains all the awesome, natural pimple fighting ingredients in a liquid form. I use the tip of the stopper to put a drop of the treatment onto the back of my hand (where you put liquid foundation before applying it to the skin). I find that letting it dry out a little before applying it to the face makes it easier to use and control as a concealer.
I was skeptical about the colour initially - it looks quite chalky. To my pleasant surprise, it blends in quite nicely to my very medium, neutral coloured skin!
I love the smell, it makes me think of 'clean'. It reminds me of a past favourite cleanser Sothys Purifying Lotion which really helped me initially when my acne got really bad.
And how could I forget - the most amazing part about this product is that it reduced a cystic looking pimple without HOURS of first application. I am so impressed!

i agree that its not really a concealer but rather leaves a orange mark but it is really good regardless.
i simply put concealer over and it really helps with breakouts and keeps the spot matt and just better.
i really like it

When I read all the positive reviews of this "dream" product, I was compelled to run out and purchase it. Dermalogica is an amazing line that I've used for years however...
I applied the spot treatment at night because the color was way too dark for my fair skin tone. It also didn't conceal anything, just looked like an orange spot on my skin. But, I wasn't looking for a concealer and I was prepared for the dark color. It def helped the huge blemish I had developed on my forehead, but I did not get the magical results I had hoped for. It did help shrink the size a bit, but not the redness. Thankfully, it wasn't too drying (no flakiness.) I did not notice the sulfur smell others complained about.
I will continue to use this treatment as I feel new blemishes starting and see if it's more effective as a preventative.

okay i love this product! i have really abnormally stubborn acne which would stay on my face for up to 1 month before leaving nasty scars on my face. i will apply this on my spots overnight as well as in the day. it dries up my small bumps completely overnight (though my big ones will still remain but they are slightly smaller which is good enough for me since other brands can't even achieve this on my stubborn pimples). it's a bit difficult to blend it perfectly but once i have gotten the hang of it, it conceals my spots really well. but i don't really like the packaging because i had accidentally spilled 1/4 of it. :( even though i still have half a bottle of it left, i am going to place an order for one more of it just because i want to be stocked up with it! :)

this is what i call guilt-free cover up. it heels my zits while delivering fabulous cover up that can be layered on for more coverage. i had dropped the dropper and it broke since it's made of glass so i had to buy a replacement dropper. i wish it could be plastic or something other than glass. it definitely comes at a pretty penny but i can't argue with the results. the main ingredient is sulfur. it dries out my break outs but doesn't make my skin flaky. there is only 1 color but it is versatile and works on a wide range of skin tones. i have light to medium skin and it blends in perfectly. what i love is that this treatment is firstly a spot treatment with the added benefit of being a concealer instead of the other way around. maybe it's just me but it feels like it's better for my skin. but however you put it, my zits are taken care of within a few days.

I'm on my 3rd bottle.Don't follow the instructions and shake well before use, but use the dropper to lift the sediment from the bottom. It'll be too watery otherwise. It blends well w/ my skin tone and works to dry out pimples.

Pros: This product is really effective both covering and healing breakouts. At first i didn't believe that could be concealing for my huge zits and scars but it has really great coverage stays all day long, without causing any clog pores, comedons and etc.. Also I like to see results in my skin, including %5 sulfur and it dries my pimples in a few days.

Cons: I think it's expensive treatment, also I don't like the glass packaging, it's so fragile. You have to shake it well before every application because it's not homogenic. After a few months it starts to dry you can't able to use. Finally, it smells sulfur it could be disturbing for you and people want to kiss you:P

Use this often and it is one of the few products that does actually reduce spots/pimples over night. Sometimes the swelling goes down when it is just a tiny red lump, other times the pimples become larger but after a few days they definitely go down faster than with other products. I like the fact it has a 'concealing' property to it, as it does help to slightly hide the redness as well. very happy with this product and will definitely re buy and recommend. The glass bottle worries me a little as it was quite expensive (approx £20), and I fear it breaking if it fell off the side. I quite like the dropper though, as it helps to give a very small amount when needed.

God-awful packaging aside, its a great lil spot treatment. Doesn't work as a concealor on me (i'm NC42, this is like white paint on me lol) but it does take care of zits. Def need to layer this OVER a moisturizer, coz on its own it's drying even on my slightly oily skin...

With out a doubt- this is the best concealer for acne prone skin out there. Bare with me, it is definitely unique given it's liquid property and choice of ingredients. But that is what makes it so good. Dermalogica took a risk that other companies have not and it paid off, especially for those who suffer from consistent acne.

MY SKIN: I have had acne prone skin since I was 12. It used to be severe, but thanks to Retinol and Glycolic treatments as well as various supplements to balance out hormones- my acne is rather mild. I generally experience mild breakouts around the time of the month. It takes my skin 7-10 days to fully heal up. I have normal skin (not really oily but not dry either).

PROS: (1) offers medium- full coverage (full if it perfectly matches your skin tone, otherwise expect medium if you need to blend it in) (2) the liquid texture blends seamlessly into skin in a way that no powder or cream could without emphasizing lines or pores. (3) the glass bottle with dropper makes it easy to apply. (4) it will treat your acne- I notice larger ones tend to shrink faster then the smaller ones. Since switching to this concealer I noticed it prevents my skin from getting worse while I wear a light dusting of makeup on days I need too.

CONS: (1) Admittedly the smell is not attractive- but I am glad they did not try to cover it up. For one, the scent fades away after 15 minutes. Secondly, it means Dermalogica did not add unnecessary ingredients into this formula, increasing the likelihood that this product will agree with ones skin.

I truly recommend this one for acne prone skin, it's the first that covers my acne, treats it, and is not the cause of further acne. I will definitely stick to this one.

Happy Shopping!

ummm.... first thing - the smell of sulfur!!! smell is horrible and reminds me of the days when i was in chemistry class! (which isn't a good thing!)

i have mixed feelings about this, i feel like it does BUT DOESNT work if that makes sense. i've been using this for almost a week now. after the first few days of trying it (on my forehead) i broke out a little bit. it seems to take a loooonnngggg time for it to actually reduce the size of my pimple although it does reduce redness and pain (for those angry pimples). the "concealing" part of it is useless! its makin me think its less effective with the "concealer".
i dont think i'd buy this one again.... but i will keep trying it, and will update in afew weeks.

This product actually really does work, but I'm not sure why Dermalogica decided to make the product so watery and runny, and then also packaged it in a tiny glass jar with a dropper applicator??!! This makes it almost impossible to use!! I have ended up wasting so much of the product and it seems to drip everywhere when I try to use it gah! Just as well it works quickly in drying out blemishes, so I may repurchase and I find the shade is not too dark or orange on me. Overall it's a pretty good product if you want something to quickly dry out and conceal blemishes.

I ran out of my usual spot treatment and bought this in desperation. I have to be honest - I wasn't expecting much. I was really pleasantly surprised when it got rid of inflamed acne really quickly. I have decent skin but get hormonal acne and sometimes those 1 or 2 spots can really hurt. Well, this is now my go-to treatment. It calms down the redness really quickly and within a day or 2 the pimple is gone. It doesn't leave any marks either, which I am really grateful for. This is the product that got me into the Dermalogica line. I am so glad I tried it!
