I use in the morning before my makeup to heal my chapped lips, generally only during the winter months. This stuff works I can say almost as good as carmax, and I love the consistency much more. Highly recommend.

I have used this product for the last 8 years. I have one in my make up drawer and one in my winter coat pocket (I live in the Windy City-the cold temps and dry air wreak havoc on my lips in the winter months-of which there are far too many!).
I use Benefiance in the morning after I put on my moisturizer and before I put on all my other makeup. I've found that waiting about 10 minutes before applying any other lip product (liner/lipstick/lip stain or gloss) really softens my lip and makes any other product look much better. I also use a coating at night, before bed.
The product has "Marine Collagen" listed as an active ingredient. I had to look up what that was, as I knew it was not the same collagen I was familiar with. This is what came up when I entered "topical marine collagen" into a search engine:
"We can fight signs of aging by utilizing the collagen extracted from marine sources, such as codfish. This type of collagen, unlike that that comes from animals, has a smaller molecular structure which can be absorbed by human skin. This makes it perfect as a topical formula, since it can penetrate the outer layers of the skin and increase the collagen levels below the surface where it's needed.
Increasing collagen levels will return elasticity and mobility to the skin. This in turn plumps up existing lines and wrinkles and prevents new ones from forming. Marine collagen is used in combination with polypeptides in skin care formulas, to allow it to penetrate the skin, as well as encouraging the body's natural collagen production to be increased. Therefore the benefits are two fold, adding collagen and increasing the production of collagen."
This explains why this product does such a good job at keeping the lips soft and smooth. I cannot say that I noticed any anti-aging or plumping benefits, but there certainty have not been any noticeable wrinkling above my lip line (and I am "of-the-age that that could be happening).
This product comes in a tube that has a slanted applicator tip with a small hole in it. This allows the user to easily control how much product comes out of the tube. It's also much more sanitary to use than a balm that comes in a lipstick-tube style. The only downfall in the packaging is that the tube has gold lettering and detail-work on it that, over time, flakes off.
So yes, while the cost is high ($35) I will continue to buy this product. Shiseido recommends replacing this product every 3 months; I am never even halfway through a tube by that point; I've found a tube lasts me nearly a year.

This definitely works for me: feels light and not sticky, stays put, hydrates my lips well, minimizes the appearance of lines, lightens, and definitely prevents flaking and chapping. After only a couple of days of use I already noticed my lip color and suppleness improve. The smart and hygenic packaging is much better than other lip balms I have tried. This is definitely a keeper.

This is one product which I know genuinely works. When I go to winter countries, my lips always crack and peel, becoming painfully dry. Applying a layer of this lip treatment soothes my painful lips instantly and helps them recover, preventing further moisture loss.
As I live in Singapore, a tropical country, I have no need to applying this treatment regularly, but when I do, it soothes out the lines on my lips and is a fantastic lip balm! Best of all, it does not leave a thick stick layer of residue, like bodyshop lip treatments do, when I try to wipe it off my lips. I apply a thick layer of it on my lips before I sleep and I'll wake up with plump hydrated pretty pink lips!
Love it!

I've been using this lip treatment for the past few months now and it's quite moisturizing and the plumping effects are great! However, I'm not sure if its anti-aging properties are working well. Also, it's quite expensive at $30-40 per tube! For my full reivew: http://jealousofmyskin.com/shiseido-benefiance/

A collagen lip treatment that smooths out the lips. It doesn't hydrate very well though.

This is a very nice lip treatment--if I were to give it a grade I'd put it in the B+ range (or perhaps up to an A- if I'm feeling more generous). It has a very convenient applicator, and doesn't have any noticeable scent (unlike the La Mer lip balm which, quite frankly, I don't care for because of the mint smell). I didn't notice any of the benefits this supposedly has, but it is always a nice complement to my lip colors. I have some lipsticks that are very drying, but sometimes manage to salvage those with this lip treatment underneath. With moisturizing lipsticks, a little of this helps them become even silkier and smoother. It also has a nice consistency in staying put, unlike the Kiehl's which I found a bit runny and too slick. However, it's also not the miracle worker it claims to be either, and there's nothing about it that "wows" me so much that I want to shout about it from the rooftops, or give it that perfect five score. To me this is like that perfectly nice, respectable guy you date who you find nothing "wrong" with, yet somehow don't feel that special chemistry for and don't want to marry. I'm still looking for my HG lip treatment.

Love this luxury lip balm. It keeps my lips moist, gives a nice sheen, does not contain SPF. It also helps dissolve dry, peeling skin. Great for night or day. There's nothing much to add except that the hygienic packaging & glossy effect are a plus.

The cons first: price! at the current exchange rate, at $35usd, this would be about $70nzd plus tax, shipping etc... It has a taste, which seeps into my mouth if I drink water. Other than that, nothing.
The texture is divine, dense, rich, not sticky and lasts well. This is another HG lip product next to my Kose Vague lip balm which I have used for several years. It has a menthol sensation, very subtle and not intrusive at all. This stuff stays put and does not run.
Apart from being a nice treatment this is like lip version of Shiseido The Makeup Mascara base -- turns dull useless lip colours into beautiful shades and finishes. I have pigmented lip colour, so many rose beige, pink rose and sheer toned colours are lost against my lips. However, many are salvaged if used on top of the lip treatment.

I wanted to love this, but sadly there is something in this which my lips do not like.
I purchased this due to the fantastic reviews and applied this during the day and at night before bed. It applied beautiful and my lips felt protected and comforted.... but....
Every time I use this I wake up with incredibly flaky, peely and dry lips I've tried it several times over a few months and given it a break too. Each time I use it the same thing happens. If you have sensitive lips like mine - you may want to check out any irritating ingredients in this first.

This is my HG lip balm. ive tried it all.. kiehls, dermalogica, elizabeth arden, clarins, la mer. i love and adore this lip balm, it does no wrong.
worn alone, it looks glossy and gives a healthy sheen, giving your lips an illusion of fullness. if you intend to wear it under a lip colour, id recommend putting the lip treamtent on at least 10mins prior to application, so it gives time for it to "sink" in.
this is just the best lip balm ever, because it boosts moisture in no time, and soothes cracked lips and softens. it doesnt smell unpleasant at all and the consistency of the balm is just right. not too thick nor runny. i feel like my search for lip balm is finally over, ive found the perfect one! i just wish the packaging was a bit prettier.

I really love this product and got my mom hooked on it as well. My lips are very dry and crack and peal all the time. This is the only lip treatment that has solved me problem. Sure it's expensive but it's worth it. As far as the plumping, it's a subtle type of result that take at least two weeks of twice daily use to see the difference. It won't give you fish lips but a nice plump filled out look. In regards to the lines around your mouth, this works wonders and keeps lipsticks from creeping up into your lines.

Wonderful lip product. It's saved my lips from dryness and cracking in Colorado weather. It is extremely expensive for a glorified lip balm, but you only need a little bit, and it actually improves my lip texture and makes any lip makeup I wear (lipstick, gloss, pencil) look smoother. I keep one on my nightstand and one downstairs, so I'll never have to look for to find it.

This is a great lip treatment for night time. For day, it's too shiny. It softens my lips. It is long lasting. It lasts about 4 hours. But I'm not so sure whether or not it reduces fine lines. That's why I gave only 4 stars.

My lips have a tendency to be dry and peel often if I am not careful--I exfoliate, daily moisturize with lip fusion XL and am discriminating with the types of lip color I use. Most of the time, they still peel. I have used the full correction lip treatment for a week now and have not had any dry lips--none...even with my most matte lipstick (MAC is usually a killer in this department). It is a fantastic primer for lipstick and looks good (glossy but not overly sticky) when applied throughout the day. This was a great discovery for me and I highly recommend it for those who have lips with a tendency towards dryness.

I was having a "desert lips day" today and was caught outside without a lip balm, so I rushed to Sephora and tried this on. Itīs thick, but feels a bit tacky like a lip gloss leaving lips looking shiny as well. It sits on top of the lips and doesnīt really absorb, but it soothes some of the dryness away. It really provides no benefits to the lips or skin, but the formula is elegant and better than 90% of lip balms out there.

I really like this. Since i've been on accutane my lips (as anyone on the 'tane can tell you) have been flaking off like mad. When i use this my lips don't flake at all no kidding. Once i tried to go without and just slather lots of lipbalm on, i could really feel the difference. Not as soft, and still some flaking.

I bought this because it supposedly plumps, smooths, and hydrates/moisturizes your lips. Well, unfortunately I didn't notice it do any of those things drastically, anyways. I suppose my lips may be a bit smoother and softer, but hardly at all. I wouldn't reccomend using this as a lip balm, because it's not very moisturizing. I didn't notice any fragrance/taste to this, unlike the previous reviewer. I do like how it comes in a tube and the slant-tip applicator is smooth and doesn't snag on your lips, like some cheap applicators can. I do like this product somewhat, it's definately not that I don't like it, because I can't really think of anything negative to say about this product, except for maybe the price, because for a lip treatment, it's pricey (although not the most expensive I've seen). I won't repurchase because I find my lips need a lot more moisture than this product seems to be able to provide.

A nourishing and smoothing lip treatment (contains retinol). That's what Shiseido says about it. It's a bit sticky (think of Lancome's Jucy Tubes), has a light fragrance. I woudn't buy full size (got a sample), though, too greasy and messy and didn't seem to prevent dryness, just covers lips under a heavy film.
