Mostly waterproof but did smudge a bit when swimming. Good volume and quite a good mascara for the price.

This beats Maybelline's Full N Soft by FAR. My lashes seem to work better with the more classic brush wands like the one this has. The wand seems shorter than most, which I think helps with my application of this. The mascara can be a little clumpy at first, but you just have to keep running over and separating. Very waterproof, classy packaging - I would def buy this if I ever needed a reliable thing for my lashes on-the-go or something. The formula is dry (which I like), but just something to keep in mind. Good mascara. Not so great for the bottom lashes as it is clumpy

Being a general fan of Maybelline mascaras, I decided to give this product a try and was thoroughly disappointed. My eyelashes are fine, and this mascara made them incredibly clumpy. I'm not sure whether this was because of the brush or the mascara itself, but it looked terrible. Using an eyelash brush didn't help either. This is one of the few mascaras I definitely would NOT repurchase or recommend.

Very Black was Gray? ~ I have used L'Oreal Voluminous mascara for 15 years and have been in love with it. Recently, I had to start wearing a prescription sunscreen so my skin is now more oily than it would be normally. I noticed that my precious Voluminous had started smudging on my bottom lashes ..so I tried the Volum Express Waterproof instead .. first thing I noticed is that their "Very Black" is very lightly pigmented and is almost gray on the brush? It was no comparison to the L'Oreal Voluminous .. the coverage is thinner and lighter and I had to use 2 times the amount to barely get some color on my lashes.

I think this is a mediocre mascara, and I would recommend this to beginners in makeup, because this is a simple all around decent mascara. But it does smudge underneath my eyes and it doesn't hold the curl that well. Overall, I would repurchase again (it's $5 at target) but only after looking for some better drugstore mascaras.

It was time for a new mascara and I could no longer find my beloved waterproof Full n' Soft in black/brown, so I decided to grab this. I'm glad I did!
It is indeed waterproof (which is a must for me to keep my lashes curled). It also goes on easily and makes my lashes look nice and full without clumping or flaking. I can apply one swipe for a more natural look or build it up for a dramatic evening look.
All around good purchase.

*Update*
I didn't notice until awhile later, but this mascara does tend to flake. :( I should've known it was too good to be true! I'll keep using it for now, but the perfect mascara search continues.

This is now sold as "The Classic Volum'Express" in a navy tube with silver writing. I'm a drugstore mascara whore so I have tried most of them out there and this is one of the better ones out there. It gives excellent volume and pretty good length with one or two coats and clumps very little, despite having one of the old-school brushes (not plastic). It holds the curl in my naturally stick-straight lashes too. My biggest issue is that it smudges under my eyes. All Maybelline mascaras, waterproof or not, smudge on me which drives me absolutely crazy since I like the results they give. Other than that, this is a really good mascara that I will keep in my rotation (yes, I have about 6 mascaras open at any given time---judge me). It's cheap too, like $5 or $6 USD depending where you go.

I've been trying to find a replacement waterproof mascara after my favourite GOSH Lift 'N Shape WP was discontinued. Most of the mascaras I've tried recently have been pretty bad, mostly in that they flake tremendously or look cakey and chalky. I bought this one in Very Black and it hasn't been too bad so far. It doesn't give a really dramatic look and takes a few coats to really show up but it's fairly easy to apply and holds the curl pretty well. My main complaints with it are that it isn't a deep black (I would say a plain black, but not Very Black as advertised, since it doesn't look as black next to my MAC Liquidlast eyeliner in Point Black), and there is some minor flaking at times, though not in large grainy chunks like some others such as CG Professional Lash WP. I haven't been using this mascara for very long so maybe it will flake more once the formula starts drying up a bit, so I don't want to jump to conclusions on that yet. I might keep looking or see if I can get Great Lash WP to work for me without causing lash breakage (I think the breakage happens during removal because the lashes are so stiff and it's incredibly hard to remove, so maybe a different removal method will allow me to use it without damaging my poor eyelashes again). *Sigh*

This is my go to night mascara. I have longer lashes but less volume and this is wonderful. friends have commented and asked how i got my eyeliner to look so good and clean. I wasn't wearing eyeliner it was just the mascara! :)

I use the great last in soft black for days and volum in the darkest black at night :)

Also the brush is great because it's not made out of rubber/laytex mix like most other volum brushes. I am allergic to laytex and those kinds make me tear up and my eyes burn all day long.

Go maybelline for making great mascaras

This is a really nice product. This is my everyday mascara. 2 coats for a typical day and 3 or more coats for a special event. It really holds the curl of my lashes. It costs less than 6$ here in the Philippines. I would definitely repurchase when i run out of this!

A semi-decent product. If you're a beginner at makeup, this is a good start. If not, don't bother.

This was the first "proper" mascara I bought (in 2004). Before this, I used a plain black waterproof one from Miss Sporty. Then, I decided I want to try something new. Well, obviously, it was easy to impress me. Just piled up a few coats of this, and WOW. Never thought that huge lashes could change a face so much. Of course, my lashes were a bit spidery because of my inexperience, but still...
I loved it, and after trying many other mascaras (drugstore brands and high-end products), I still return to this one.

Pros:

-Great if you have light coloured, not too long, not too full lashes (it provides a truly dramatic change)
-Does not smudge

Cons:

-It does flake a little, unfortunately
-As almost all waterproofs, this is a bit of a hassle to remove (easiest and cheapest with any cooking oil (olive, sunflower, whatever))

I would recommend it to people who are beginning to experiment with (in particular: volumising) mascara, and don't want to spend too much. I think it's a really good starting point, and despite it's cons, a safe staple to return to while experimenting whit other products.

An okay volumizing mascara. However, in my experience, if I apply more than 2-3 coats, it can look spidery and make my lashes stiff. I apply it by holding it at a 45 degree angle, with the tip of the applicator reaching the 1/4 point of my inner eye (3/4 in from the outer eye). Then slowly, wiggle the mascara wand from side-to-side, moving up until you reach NEAR the tips of lashes. If it goes on the tips of the lashes it can look like you're wearing too much mascara, almost to the point of having spidery-lashes. You just have to apply it right the first time, and add a slight 2nd coat if you wish, for it to look good. I would recommend.

The product I have is Classic Volum Express Hydrofuge, in a dark navy blue tube with silver trim. I LOVE it. I have been searching and searching for a good waterproof mascara, and this applies beautifully. It doesn't smudge, flake, or clump, defines my lashes without making them look ridiculously fake, adds length, volume, curl, everything. I have this in the blackest black shade or something like that, and I love that there's a subtle gray/blue tinge to it that keeps it from being too harsh and too stark of a contrast. The actual brush is a little larger than I prefer, but I the wand is relatively short, which still allows me more control than many other mascaras. Overall, I'm really happy that MUA led me to this product and highly recommend it.

I love this mascara. I have used it for over ten years. I have strayed, seduced by false promises and press and sexy lash ads from the cosmetic giants (All the Lancome ones, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Prescriptives, Dior, Chanel, you name it!!! And a mountain of products from the drugstores.)

But I kept coming back. And I don't bother trying anything else anymore because it's simply not worth it, this is my HG for sure.

First I blast a Shu Uemura or Shiseido curler with a hair dryer for 4 seconds, test the heat against my wrist to make sure it's not too hot, curl my lashes for 30 seconds, and brush my mascara on! They hold curl all day, no flaking, running, smearing or irritation at all! Love! For $6! For the record, I am a contact lens wearer and an allergy sufferer.

I bought this at Target, and it works really well. It's waterproof, and it does it's job correctly. It doesn't smeer, leave black smudges around my eyes, or look clumpy. This is a great mascara for anyone who needs a simple mascara and doesnt want to pay 100 dollars for it. I will definately repurchase.

This was my every day mascara and also great for a more dramatic affect at night. It would hold my lashes once I curled them and last all day. It made my lashes both full and long. I would even get complements that I have such long lashes. Sometimes the product however would flake leaving me with black smudges near my face. I'm not sure if this was just because the masara was not as fresh when I bought it. Thats when I knew it was just time to throw it out and buy a new one. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it.
