After discovering Dr. Hauschka's regular rose day cream, I was 100% pleased, however I found that the regular formulation was a bit much for summer. That's when I decided to try the Rose day cream LIGHT which became the perfect addition to my skincare routine. These two rose creams from Dr. Hauschka are a dream on sensitive skin and because one is lighter than the other, they compliment each other perfectly so you have your year-round skin care routine all taken care of! For a full review on both creams, check out my blog dedicated to those looking for skincare and makeup solutions for very sensitive skin: www.sensitastic.blogspot.com

I am a big fan of Dr. Hauschka's Rose Day Cream. Last time I ran out of it, I went to purchase more but found that my local bio-store only had the Rose Day Cream Light in stock. I figured it was better than nothing, so I bought it.
.
It was indeed better than nothing, but it was certainly not better than the original rose cream. It was a bit lighter, yes, but not nearly as smooth and nourishing. I didn't get the same silky-smooth finish, and couldn't wait until I ran out so I could buy the Rose Day Cream.
.
This cream was fine, but as long as the original is available I won't be purchasing this one again.

Love this product, it's brilliant. It is a very soothing moisturiser for my combination skin. I haven't experienced any breakouts from using it, which is always a good sign. It does a great job at hydrating my skin and sits very well under make up. My only gripe would be that I wish it contained sun protection as I don't like having to layer lots of products on my skin.

So, I have to admit that I was feeling a bit depressed when I purchased this itme. My rationale for purchase was that 1) I'd tried and love DH products in the past, and 2) I needed to have a little Madonna in my life. I figured DH rose day cream was the closest I could get to affording something that the Material Girl uses (or claims to use), so decided to go for it. Silly, I know, but oh so true.
Like I said, I've use DH in the past. Products I've used include the Normalizing Day Oil (didn't like - too oily), the foundation (too greasy), and the face powder (fabulous). I purchased the light version of the Rose Day cream due to my oily skin. I was hesitant at first because there is a bit of hype surrounding this particular product and the price can be off putting.
The smell is fabulous, if you like roses (which I do). If you are anti-rose scent then this product will not appeal to you. The scent is quite pronounced so that's a biggie. I apply this after cleansing in the morning and I was concerned that it would be too oily and greasy like other DH products. It wasn't. I've been quite pleased so far with the light Rose Day Cream and, quite frankly, my skin looks better. I've been using it for a week so far and can see that it hydrates without being overly greasy and it serves as a great primer for my makeup.
A few downsides include the price (but a little goes a LONG way) and the fact it does not at all reduce the appearance of pores. If you're looking for something that has a pore minimizing effect, this product is not a fit. I'd recommend going with another product outside of the DH line for reducing the appearance of pores. For all of us gals with oily skin, pore size is a constant battle. :-) Overall, I'd buy the light Rose Day cream again. It's good, but not life changing.

AWFUL. I couldn't work out why this irritated my skin - made it red and parched and then I saw it had straight alcohol really high up on the ingredients list. WTF?!!!! Don't go there people. This is rose day cream LIGHT and not the regular version, which is fine.

I've been using this for about 2 weeks - I have very red/clogged skin on one side of my face which looks like rosacea but is actually something called ulerythema ophyrgenes. I thought I'd write this for those with acne flare ups/rosacea. I've been given a really strong retinoid by dermatologist called Airol which has made my skin flake, peel and look even more raw red (it's supposed to get better with time!) I had bought the rose cream light before using the Airol, which I've only been using for 3 days. Before I was using a much milder retinoid - it didn't work and I still had red rough sandpapery skin on one side of my face. The rose cream light really soothed and calmed it, it feels cooling on application. I was worried about the oils in the cream and I might yet have a reaction. To be honest I do have more spots than before, but the effect it's had is that other people keep telling me I look great! It makes my skin feel velvety and calm. A week or so ago two of my best friends told me separately that my skin looks worse with make up trying to cover my skin - whatever I use you can still see it. So I bravely stopped wearing it! I only use the rose light cream and an eye cream and although you can see that my skin is not great and is red one one side, it gives me a glow or something and takes away the roughness, at least for most of the day until I have to reapply. Every friend I've seen has told me I look great, without me saying anything. So I will update - obviously if it causes major breakouts I will discontinue, but somehow it's doing something positive for my skin, though I'm sure my dermatologist would freak if she knew I was using a moisturiser full of oils!

Bought this yesterday and so far so good!
I'm pretty sure I have hyper-sensitive skin - last week I used a primer for the first time and broke out into horrible, painful blind pimples on my cheeks - not ideal! I have always been on the search for a moisturizer that is suitable for sensitive skin as all the products I used were just 'okay'. I used philosophy's hope in a jar before which is my favourite, but due to extreme shipping costs to South Africa (where I live) had to give this up :(
So I scoured the internet and I remember celebrities praising Dr Hauschka. And hey, if with all that money it's good enough for them then surely it can't be half bad? Today is day one of using the Rose Day Cream Light (decided on this one as I wasn't too keen on the Rose Day Cream texture and shine) and it feels really comfortable. It is now 3pm and my make up is still in place (YAY!), my skin feels moisturized and not irritated like i want to go home and wash my face immediately.
Like the packaging as I feel you could get every last drop out of the tube. You also only need a small amount warmed between your hands so it should last for a couple of months seeing as Dr Hauschka has a 'no night cream' policy. I am going to purchase the facial toner today and try the 'no night cream' approach tonight.
Will report back in a few weeks with (hopefully) great results.
x
UPDATE:
Since posting the above I have fallen in love with this moisturizer. ALL of my blind pimples have cleared up and I havne't had one painful one since using this cream. When I have gotten the odd breakout it has cleared up within a day from using this magnificent moisturizer. It is lightweight on my face - perfect for the summer time here in South Africa at the moment. I think I will switch to the original Rose Day Cream in winter as my skin normally dries up during that season.
This tube has lasted me about 2 months. It is pricey but I feel it is totally worth it as for the first time I have the option to not wear any foundation. It is perfect for sensitive and dry skin at the same time. It also seems to be the perfect base for make up which is a huge bonus.
I have also been following Dr Hauschka's philosophy of no night cream. The first week was REALLY hard as I adjusted but it has gotten a lot better. I still sometimes feel dry but then all I do is spritz some more of the toner on. I think I might treat myself to their dry skin mask over the holidays and see if that improves the tightness for me in the evenings. But the no night cream definitely has it's benefits, I feel my skin is more clean in the morning and I have definitely had 90% less breakouts than before.
This is liquid gold to me - will be using this product for a very long time.
FINAL UPDATE:
So it's been 3 months since starting to use this product and just want to say that I have totally gotten used to the no night cream policy. My skin is no longer yearning for moisturizer at night and I wake up in the morning with my face feeling light and clean, no heaviness like when I used to use night cream. Dr Hauschka is now my HG range of skincare and I don't suspect I'll stop using it any time soon - just wish they made an SPF cream!

After I became pregnant my skin began to really tease. One morning when I stood up I had small red spots all over your face and it got worse the next day. Purchased as this cream and after a few days was all red stains away. So there is no doubt that it is really good for sensitive skin and it also provides plenty of moisture. The only drawback is the smell, the more smells of rotten roses.

I previously tried the regular 'rose day cream' which I found to be a little too rich and heavy for my combination to oily skin. This 'light' version is pretty close to perfect for me. This gives my skin just the right amount of moisture to feel completely hydrated without leaving my skin feeling greasy and sticky. I don't have perfect skin, still have the odd spots here and there, yet i've had so many compliments about my face since i've been using this (even with the spots)- and this moisturiser gives my skin the confidence to go without makeup. I don't like the smell as much as Weleda's Wild Rose facial lotion but this absorbed better into the skin and makes a better base for my make-up. The only reason this moisturiser is not my HG, is because it does not contain a SPF sunscreen (cos i'm lazy and always forget to put mine on).

I am a little disappointed with this product. I love the fact that it absorbs really fast, leaves no shine or grease and makes my skin feel a little velvety-smooth when I apply it. However, it does clog the pores a little too, and I have developed little tiny whiteheads during the 3 weeks I have been using this. However DH recommends not using moisturizer in the night while sleeping, so I guess this cream is created for day use and should preferably be cleansed off before going to bed. I did use this in the night time and do not love the morning result of tiny white bumps. Overall, my skin looked and felt better BEFORE I started using this cream. It is an expensive cream too for that skinny tube. Since I am have been wanting to try this cream for 2 years, I know now this is not for me and I can move on to other products.

This review is for Rose Day Cream.
I LOVE this product. I have dry, sensitive skin and I LOVE when my face looks dewy/shiny and smooth. If that's not the look you're going for than don't waste your money on this product. If that is the look you are going for than this cream is worth EVERY PENNY. It doesn't make me break out, it smells wonderfully and makes my skin look amazing!! The only "con" of this product is it's $45 and the tube of cream only lasted me a month...

I really wanted to love Rose Day Cream Light - it made me so glowy the first few days I used it... I was experiencing a lot of dry scaly, patchy skin as a result of dry air and recently coming off of Accutane. I heard a lot of good things about this, and I tend to fall prey to anything "natural". So I find this at Whole Foods, for a whopping $43 and some odd change post tax... better be worth its salt, right? Well, about a week and a half in, my forehead is clustered in tiny clogged pores and small white heads. Did I just say I came off of Accutane? Yeah there went my porcelain looking skin. I am still battling clogged pore from this stuff 2 weeks after ceasing use...stubborn little buggers... I know it has a lot of various oils in, such as peanut oil... I heard a lot of questionable comments on using that on your face - but I guess the slight smell of roses made me really want to give this stuff a chance! The package is so SMALL by the way, for what you're paying. I wish I could find an alternative rose-scented product that didn't cause my face to act this way.

I used Dr. Hauschka several years ago until Sephora stopped carrying them and moved onto other brands since. But I don't know why I ever strayed from this brand to begin with. My skin is extraordinarily dry, especially in the winter and the Rose Day Cream was the only cream I had ever used that kept my skin moist with no flakes whatsoever. The reason I bought the Rose Day Cream Light was that my skin really soaked up the natural oils in the Rose Day Cream but it left my forehead a tad too oily. Luckily, this cream has lived up to my expectations. I apply this in the morning and run around in freezing temperatures all day and not one flake or dry patch appears! And my forehead isn't oily either. I love that it is organic and though it's expensive, I'm willing to pay for it since its the only cream that works for my skin. The packaging tube is good too, more sanitary than a tub. I'm with Dr. Hauschka for life!

My HG moisturiser for the past few years after a long, long search. When I put this on my skin just feels like it's drinking it in. My skin can be quite congested, and I don't get any problems with breakouts from this, plus I've a tendancy towards sensitivity and this works well for me.
Would have given 5 lippies if there was an SPF, but understand this doesn't work with the organic principles of the product.

This was an average moisturizer, but I didn't feel it was worth the high price. It didn't make my skin any healthier or more supple. I prefer evanhealy products, which are based on the same philosophy as Dr. Hauschka but are higher quality for the price. Also, it's impossible to get all the product out of the metal tube without cutting it open.

This product smells great, and while I'm sure it's quite moisturizing, I was distracted from that effect by the massive cropping of acne on my face. Something about this cream triggered an outbreak the likes of which I haven't seen since I was a teenager. So, so, SO not recommended for those people with acne-prone skin.
Incidentally, I started using it as a hand and foot cream, and it's great.

I tried this based on reviews and generally positive impressions of the brand, but I'm not buying it again.
I've got sensitive skin and live in a very windy and cold country so I thought this might be just the product based on other reviews saying it was quite thick and gentle. However, it actually stung my face a bit when applying (most noticeably on a spot where I'd popped a pimple), and didn't really have enough moisture for me. My skin still felt tight and rough in a few spots. The packaging is great in the metal tube, and it smells lovely, it's just not for me.
thankfully I only bought a small sample size but have since moved on to a product that doesn't seem covered on this site, from a German company called Neobio. This works much better for me.

As far as a moisturizer goes, it is average but the best feature - the smell! I am a sucker for the smell of roses and this is 'exactly' what this smells like and not the sickly perfume way either, it really smells like roses. Apparently, every tube has 30 roses that go into making it. The downfall is the smell doesn't last very long, but the little bit I get, especially during a long, dreary winter is definitely worth the hefty price (IMO).

I recent purchase. I love dr hauschka products. I think this cream is the best available out of the range. I thought the quince was great this is even better. my new fave day cream. I apply just a small amount all over my face. absorbs quickly. Light yet hydrating.
