I LOVE my GHD! I will never use a different flat iron, no matter what praises I hear. I have tried a few before my GHD, and they just do NOT do the job that the GHD does. At first I thought, it's just a hair straightener, what so great? It's anything but JUST a hair straightener. I have extremely curly, textured hair that frizzes just at the mere mention of the word "humidity". With the GHD and a bit of serum that is not an issue at all!
Yes, it is expensive, but I honestly think it is worth the price, and you will get a lot of use out of it!

These are the only straighteners I've ever owned - for about 10 years now. I only use them once a week, as my hair is naturally fairly straight. They're fantastic and I would immediately repurchase if anything happened to them. They leave my hair shiny, heat up in about 30 secs (great as I sometimes run late) and the effects last until I next wash my hair. They even stop my hair frizzing in the rain.

My first one was a chi and I loved it, until it broke. I got about 2 years out of it.This just gets the job done quicker and is less damaging on my hair because it straightens my stubborn tidal wave situation with just a single quick pass thru on the troubled sections of my hair and lasts for days on end. I still do use the Chi silk infusion ( genious marketing strategy of Farouk CHi to include a sample size of that stuff with his flat iron) and some Moroccanoil to heat protect it. Love my Ghd, still going strong after about 2 years.

Best hair irons ever. I have the 1-inch and 2-inch and plan to buy the 1/2-inch. They are pricey, but hair irons are not the place to try and save money, because you will end up wasting it every time. These irons work, even when I had my stubborn curls, and the hair stayed straight so long as I put a little lock-in product on and don't expose my hair to too much moisture (i.e., rain). I also use these irons to finish my hair now that I've had it chemically straightened. Cannot recommend this brand of irons highly enough.

Pricey, but awesome if you use a hair iron often. I have thick, long, dry hair. I have keratined my naturally curly hair and currently have about 5 inches re growth. I flat iron almost daily (damage heaven) no iron will prevent damage if you use it often no matter what. This is no different. There is no magical- no -damage iron. This will reduce damage only in that you only need one pass. No snags on hair. It heats up super quick. Has no settings. I considered this for a while and finally got it on a flash sale site so it was about 140$ for the 2 inch. Best iron i have out of chi, sedu, maxiglide and some other over years cant remember. The others arent bad and i still use the 1 inch Sedu very rarely, but this is the best for sure.

I have a love-hate relationship with this flat iron. It's a hair salon standard flat iron, but you really should be careful of not buying a counterfeit as the market is flooded with these. The counterfeit models are of really poor quality, but cheap. The original GHD which you can verify on the official website is heaven-sent, but it will cost you around $200 which i.m.o. is a bit expensive. Try and find a good deal at Sephora, Folica or Amazon for under $150 and it's a no-brainer.

These straigtners have a cult status for a reason. I have just purchased my second pair. My first pair lasted me for 7-8 years. They are well worth the money, if anybody is in doubt don't be they will be one of the best purchases you will ever make. They do everything, curly, straight, wavy whatever you feel like on the day. Go ahead you wouldn't regret this purchase.

In Australia these straighteners retail for AUS$330 - they are a very expensive product! I am glad I spent the money, I don't think there is a better straightener on the market. The original one I purchased, probably 4 years ago, stopped working after about 6 months, but under warranty was replaced by GHD. I've had no problems with the replacement and have had it for several years now. I would be wary about purchasing on the internet as there are a lot of fakes and you don't get the GHD warranty, I definitely recommend buying from a trusted retailer as it is a expensive purchase! Great product!

Pros: Easy to use, heats up very quickly, flexibility that you can turn on/off the iron on the actual iron, long cord, styles quickly, comes with possibility for differents electrical plugs (In EU).
Cons: VERY expensive, standard verion does not come with a storing pouch.

It is really well worth the money though and I would happily re-purchase :-)

Love this bad boy. Heats up in seconds. It hasn't damaged my hair as much as my previous (Sedu) flat iron had. It only takes a few passes to get my crazy curly hair silky and pin-straight. Makes styling my hair much quicker. Love it entirely. Well, except for the price tag.

First of all, I dont want to diss the actual performance of the GHD styler, but rather in the 20 months that I have owned my ghd styler, it has broken down on me twice. First time something malfunctioned in the wiring... within a few weeks GHD sent me a new one. A few weeks ago, the wire again started acting faulty, as in I would have to hold the styler in a certain position the whole time while straightening my hair if I wanted it to keep itself turned on. Then the lower plate started smoking.

I dont think I use my GHD in an abusive manner, especially as I've had other brands of straighteners like CHI and helen of troy and they have lasted me for years. I even use cheap brands for curling irons and hair dryers and they outlast my GHD. Not impressed at all with GHD... I thought its supposed to be the top of the notch brand when it comes to straightening and mine have broken down twice. What a waste of money.

I used the GHD 1 inch flat iron (the original) all throughout high school and college and had no problem with it. I have very coarse and thick hair, too. When my GHD finally conked out after about 6 or 7 years, I thought, well of course I'm going to get the same flat iron since my original served me so well! Wrong. I got the new GHD for a whopping $185 and it just did not perform as well. It took me several swipes over the same piece of hair to get my hair straight. Instead of cutting my hair prep time, it nearly doubled it. I remembered the lady at Sephora who had helped me mentioned that GHD makes another iron that was slightly higher in price and went to a higher temperature so I went for that one and paid a whopping $225 plus tax! I thought that this one would definitely work. For over $200, this flat iron would surely make my hair look like silk! Eh. Wrong again! Ladies, if you have coarse hair, look the other way. This flat iron with its one temperature setting is just not up for the task. I give it 2 stars because I'm sure it works for people with looser curls or thinner hair and the new beeping feature it has is pretty cool. But for $225---you gotta be versatile, and this iron, unfortunately, is not. Go for the Sedu if you have 3b to 4Z curls and kinks. You won't be disappointed.

I love my GHD flat iron. It's perfect. I'm a very low maintenance hair girl, and have straight hair with just the smallest amount of wave. I usually don't use this all over my hair, just the wavy bits, to make it all uniform and shiny. But if I do make the effort to do an all-over ironing, it makes my hair completely like silk, very shiny and wavy. I love this because it heats up quickly, makes a nice quick chirp to alert you that it's ready, and stays hot. I usually only use this on the days I wash my hair (every 3 days) but I've had it for about 4-5 years and there's no sign of any problem. Even though it's rather expensive, I believe in buying something once that lasts, and I would say this flat iron meets that expectation.

I have had many many straighteners in my life.

Middle School - Cheap target $5 straightener
High School - Revlon straightener and Sharper Image straightener
College - Chi straightener and now the GHD

When I was studying abroad I bought a transmitter to use for my Chi. Unfortunately, it did not work and my Chi died in Shanghai. After I came back to the US I got the GHD after much thought and deliberation. At first I thought about getting the GHD from discounted websites, but I got afraid of the horror stories on all the fakes in the market. So I went to Sephora and got the classic ($185).

The first time I used it I noticed how much better it was than the Chi or any other brands I've used. It straightens my hair in less than five minutes. Granted I have straight Asian hair to begin with. But this makes my hair smooth, silky, and beautiful. It is super expensive, but it makes a huge difference to how you look. Thus feeling prettier and more confident.

I don't know whether to trade this in for the professional or not. They say the plates are newer and creates more shine and less damage.

This is the gold standard in straightening irons. I have used ghd for years and would never, ever use anything else. Prior to ghd I had a Remington which simply did not compare. I have naturally frizzy, dry, kinked, crazy, flyaway hair and my ghds can tame it into sleek submission very quickly! They last years and years, too! My ghds are part of my life!

Seriously I do love them, I almost use them every day. But they broke once... And I didn't get sent them till 2 weeks. But if you buy them ( which you should) then be sure to book an appointment with your hairdresser then be prepared to get told of by them!! Love yoou, sweetlittlelies x

I bought this after reading and watching countless rave reviews, and it does live up to its hype. I have very thick and voluminous hair which turns into a big poofball whether I blow-dry it or air dry it, so I NEED to straighten it if I want to leave it down and for it to look decent.

This is an amazing straight-iron. It heats up in about 10 seconds, and glides smoothly through my hair. Of course, as with all heat stylers, you need to make sure you use heat-protectant spray, because it will burn your hair, leaving a burnt smell if you run it through your sections too many times without it. I really only need to run it through max 3 times depending on how smooth I want my hair. But I think for most people, 2 times should suffice.

Afterwards the results are amazing!! My hair is shiny, silky, and VERY natural looking. It look so much healthier. It does not look dry at all and create the generic stick-straight look other straighteners tend to make. it makes my hair look how it is supposed to look, like when I was younger and had healthy, silky straight hair.

Yes, the price is a bit high, but you get 3-year warranty, and I haven't had any problems with it since I bought it. You need to keep in mind that if you are going to straighten your hair everyday, it's a great investment and totally worth it. I highly recommend this product!

Unbelievably Fast And Perfect Salon Results!

This is my 1st review and I just had to write about this styler......just finished straightening my shoulder length, wavy, frizz-prone hair in about 15 minutes! Results are professional; stick straight shiny hair that's like silk. Just had my hair done at salon 2 weeks ago and it looks exactly the same! Pretty sure my stylist uses the 2" model (not Gold series but last model of GHD).

Unbelievable quality and I was skeptical. I read all reviews on multiple sites and took the plunge. I've used a Toni& Guy before this and I had to make 4 passes+ per section. I had to really work on it for about 30+ minutes and I don't have a lot of hair. Plus the previous straightener never got it silky smooth like this!

Highly recommend! Don't waste your money on others only to wind up buying the GHD professional! My hair is wavy, somewhat frizzy w/ some grey hairs that I highlight regularly, not damaged but certainly not smooth. It seems like this will not really further damage my hair b/c u don't need to make more than 2 passes to achieve glass-like results.

I know it's pricey but well worth the investment. Folica.com is an approved distributor too so u can register the product w/o worry w/ GHD. I purchased during recent Holiday sales and spent $160 total (no tax, no ship charge and over $60 off).

I bought a gift set GHD IV styler and hairdryer. The hair dryer is terrible, it takes forever to dry my hair and seems to be more frizzy. The IV styler I'm a little confused about so Id welcome any comments or suggestions. I have fine wavy hair that is difficult to style, hence the investment in a $240 GHD pack. No matter how I prepare my hair the GHD doesnt seem to 'grip' it. It either drags and pulls hair out or slides right through the section doing absolutely NOTHING in terms of styling. Ive tried large sections, small sections of hair, anti frizz cream, leave in conditioner you name it! I also wanted to create curls and waves but no matter how many times I try gripping the hair turning it 180 (or even 360) degrees and slowly sliding it through at best I get a horrible kink/bend in my hair.
Any ideas? or did I waste $240 on clever marketing?
