This review is a tribute, a homage if you will, to a little know (and now defunct) MU company that does not get enough word of mouth, Nixie Cosmetics. These eyeshadows are beautiful in texture (almost a cream-to-powder like texture); they apply smoothly, like silk; blend incredibly well with little or no fallout; have outstanding staying powder (which I attribute to their creamy texture); and come in over 200 colors with various finishes – most of the colors are MAC dupes and the consistency of their eyeshadows is better than MAC’s veluxe pearl eyeshadows. One of the best features of Nixie Cosmetic’s Mineral Eyeshadows is that they are larger than both MAC & Stila eyeshadows (36mm pro-pan) but only cost $12.50 each. IMHO, Nixie eyeshadows are some of the best I have tried and I place them right up there with Il Makiage, Chantecaille, Laura Mercier, Lancome, NARS, Bobbi Brown, and Stila eyeshadows – they are that good!

I wish I had written a review of Nixie Cosmetic’s awesome mineral eyeshadows sooner but better late than never. Nixie Cosmetics’ presence in the makeup world is very much needed for they are touted as the second coming of MAC – a moniker they truly deserve and I for one will continue to purchase there superior quality products for many years to come.

After searching far and wide for an inexpensive palette for my stila shadows, I stumbled upon nixie. I bought the palette - which was pretty good value and was just a little bigger than my stila pans - and threw in a stardust mineral eyeshadow for good measure. The shadow is fantastic. Smooth like a mac veluxe pearl and beautifully pigmented. I've been wearing it for 8 hours now (with UDPP) and it hasn't budged.

Stardust is a silvery beige, a little like stila cloud.

I would highly recommend this brand. Not only is the shadow great but the pans are bigger than mac and only cost AU$15 for a refill. Aussies, check out www.themakeupfoundation.com.au to order online.

NOTE: be sure to check the nixie website for more accurate description of the colours.

I'm one of those people who probably won't often give 5's for overall rating, so yeah, I definitely think well of these products. I however have to admit that I'm writing a review for the nix'ie blushes. But if the eyeshadows are in any way as pigmented as the blushes, they must be VERY pigmented lol. So yeah, the blushes themselves have a huge color pay off so test your brush on your hand to make sure you have the amount of pigment you want before applying to your face. In my opinion, this is a good thing, that way you can use them as eyeshadows or whatever you want also.

I do have to say, though... I (and many people) prefer MATTE blushes more than shimmery ones... though a little luminosity is usually okay... but the ones that do have the iridescence almost seem TOO shimmery. (for makeup artistry) Matte ones are more ideal because you can use a luminizing powder to add the shimmer if you want. So nixie people, make the shimmer shades of blush in exact matte shades too.

Last thing, the 6 well palette. It's cute small and compact. I like them. (at the current moment) that is the largest palette offered, and in the case of eyeshadows, it's just not worth it. It's perfect for the blushes, but I wish they had larger one's similar to the way mac has the 15 well palette. So I'm probably just gonna stick to Mac for economically sound makeup kit products. The pallets are see through on the top, which is good so you can see what products you have without having to open the palette. Just an FYI for anyone considering the palette, the holes for the pans are bigger than the pans so they don't "snugly" fit into the holes, but they are still magnetic so there is nothing to fear when it comes to thinking they might fall out. I do like how on the Pro Eyeshadows/blush/bronzer, it says on the bottom of them what they are so when you run out, it will be easy to repurchase shades you like.

Anyways, my spiel is over.

Nixie is very similar to MAC in colors but I think Nixie has better texture, better color payoff, and lasts like 3x longer than MAC. You get more product for your money too...like quite a bit more....Nixie will last 16 hours on me (it will probably last even longer but I had to sleep...so Nixied lasted longer than me!). I ordered an empty palette for $9 and then 6 colors (5 shadows and 1 blush) from camerareadycosmetics.com. I got it in like 2 days and I live in Michigan and they are in California. Here's a pic of my palette, open and then closed. Colors are as follows: L to R top row: Revolution, Chocolate, Femme. Then L to R bottom row: Manhattan, Star Dust and Envy (which is a blush)
I highly, highly recommend Nixie over MAC any day!

This brand has been circulating quite a buzz so you know I had to give it a try. All I can say is watch out MAC because Nixie is about to take over. I got a pro palette with 6 pro pans and I love it. Pigmentation is very good and the lasting power is excellent (definitely better than my MAC). The cost of the pans are slightly higher than MAC however they are a lot larger so it's completely justified. They blend well and have a lot of colors to choose from. I would like to see them in more stores so I do not have to keep ordering online but I will definitely be repurchasing!

I just recently learned of this line and have fallen in love with it. I find their quality to be exceptional and their prices reasonable as well. I have made 3 orders now and have about 12 of the eye shadows. They are very smooth and pigmented. Last longer on my eyes than Mac does and also are a much larger size for the price which is $12.50 each. I do use UDPP and still find them better than Mac for me at least.
The color range is wonderful too. There are so many different choices it is hard to decide which ones to get. The color swatches are off as usual on the web but they give a pretty good general idea of the colors.
Overall I am very happy to have found this line and will definately be buying more in the future.
If your looking for a new line to try or just want to try some really great e/s give this one a try.

I must say that I'm highly satisfied with Nixie brand eyeshadows. They're easily blendable, and with nearly 200 colors to choose from you'll be able to find pretty much any color you're looking for.

The shadows have a very rich color pay-off, it looks the same on as it does in the pan. Not to mention I love the fact that the Nixie website actually has accurate swatches -- definitely more than I can say for most cosmetics brands!

I do use a base with my eyeshadows, so I'm not sure how they are without one, but it lasts for me all day, even in heat and humidity and me running around like a chicken with my head cut off!

Speaking of chicken, my favorite thing about Nixie is the fact that it is a CRUELTY FREE product. I wish more products and brands were!

I've received many compliments on my eyes when I wear Nixie eyeshadow, and have recommended it to many of my friends and family. I couldn't be happier with it, and since I've purchased it I haven't worn anything else!

Like the other reviewers, I love my Nixie shadows. I ordered 6 pro pans and a palette. Nixie shipped the same day. The shadow pans are large (slightly larger than Stila) and the shadows are nicely pigmented. Very smooth and silky application. They do remind me of the old MAC shadows. With about 200 colors to pick from everyone should be able to find what they're looking for. The swatches on the website are true to life. I will be purchasing more Nixie shadows. I am also planning to try their pigments and cream blushes also.

I have a pic in my profile of my Nixie palette, next to a MAC 4 pan.

I totally agree with the other reviews and in my opinion Nixie eyeshadows for the most part are better than MAC.

I love nixie shadows! I have 6 different shades in a pro palette and I love it! The shadows are so much higher quality than MAC's. You get more for your money cause the shadows are huge! It'll last you a long time. Plus, easy to blend different colors together. Its my new favorite brand!

I have one eyeshadow from Nixie called Electric Blue. It is an, as you can imagine, electric, vivid bright blue. The color itself isn't all that complex, as it is a matte, but the color payoff and texture really makeup for any simplicity in my opinion. I actually bought this for the color pay off since I figured, "When would I ever find another matte blue so pretty and so smooth?" The lasting power is great, especially over UDPP. This is the non pro e/s in a pot and it retails for $15.
