I've struggled with acne for over 10 years and this has been one of the best prescription products I have tried. I have literally tried everything. Differin has not only helped my acne but I noticed it helps the acne scars fade.

Love this product so much! It has done wonder on my skin. During high school, I used to have relatively clear skin, with a pimple here and there. Once I reached college, my skin broke out horribly which I attribute to lack of sleep + stress. There would be many of these little bumps all over my cheeks that wouldn't go away. That's for the better days. At my worst, it would be redness + clear liquid oozing out of these little bumps, that would usually occur around my week. I still shiver when thinking back. Then, I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me differin at night and benzaclin in the morning. She said that the reason I keep having those horrible breakouts was because of clogged pores and that differin would help. Right now, I don't break out anymore, except the occasional pimple, which goes away relatively fast. My skin is now in a good enough condition to go out without applying concealer!

this product has helped my skin sooooo MUCH! the price was around 60 dollars and after 2 months i have used a quarter of the product. the way that it helps to clear the skin is by drying out the pimple so definetely be prepared for dry skin, i had really oily skin before using this and now i hardly EVER get oily.... HOPE I HELPED <3

This is the best acne treatment my dermatologist ever prescribed me. It doesn't irritate my skin, no bothersome peeling or dryness. I only use a little bit at a time and the tube is huge, so each tube lasts me a least a year (been using this for about 4 years). It goes on clear so I can wear it during the day without notice. It controls my shine too, which is wonderful because I have oily skin. It's EFFECTIVE! With daily use (and a little benzaclin at night) I have seen s significant improvement with my acne. My doctor said it would clear up my blackheads, but it hasn't done much in that department, but it has kept them at bay and they are less noticeable. It's weird though... the regular differin gel (.2% I think) over-dried my skin, hmm. But this sure doesn't! This is a GREAT acne treatment and I'd highly recommend it to people of all ages suffering from mild - moderate acne. Oh, and the price is steep, but if you have insurance it's not tooooo bad (plus it lasts a looooong time so it's worth every penny).

I have been on differin gel for 3 months and all I can say is that I am a bit "so-so" with this product because I recieved it as a free sample from my dermatologist. I had extremely horrible acne and I decided to go to the dermatologist she tried all kinds of generic retinols and decided to give me differin. She said that differin 0.3 is very strong and that my skin would possibily peel. I tried this with my benzaclin and it works wonders fro the skin. Differin is actually another form of stable retinol that stays on the skin better and does not become unstable after a certain amount of time.

When I first used differin my skin did not peel or burn and that is probably because I have very oily skin. So after about 3 months I notice that my blackheads were going away and that my acne would come up every now and then. It depends on each individual if their skin is suitable for this product and if you are using differin for the first time or any form of retinol you will break out because the product is opening up your pores and your skin is being encouraged to regenerate.

I'm 21 and I was previously using retin a micro 0.1 for my acne/oily prone skin. Retin a tore my skin up! Even if I mixed a tiny bit with moisturizer it would still aggravate my skin. Anyways, this product is amazing! I use the generic adapalene gel 0.1% and I have been getting a lot of compliments on my skin. Several older women at work asked me of I was a volunteer or underage. Even my co workers were asking me what I was using. The point is that this makes your skin beautiful fast, and painless. Just make sure that you wear SPF 50+ sunscreen and reapply because you don't want sun damage. I only pay $5 for my copay cause I'm under the age limit.

This stuff is amazing! I've been using it for about a year now and it's kept my skin consistently clear. Granted, I did take accutane about 2 years ago (30 mgs twice a day for 6 months.) so I contribute a lot of the clear skin to that - but the differin faded my acne scars a lot! There was a really dark purple/red mark on my left cheek from a cystic pimple I had years ago, and with daily use of Differin it's now completely gone. :) I experienced no dryness/itchiness but then again, my skin could handle accutane with minimal irritation. I got this for about $40 with my insurance... So worth it!

Ladies, it has been a long time coming but I am back on differin .3% I gave up on her but my sorry butt came running back. Basically in October of '11 I decided to come of Minocycline; however I needed to keep the acne at bay, so I started to use the bottle of Differin (.1%) that I attempted to use back in April of '11 but my skin was too sensitive as it was too drying to use in conjunction with the tetracycline pills (I had then later switched to Minocycline as state d above)....So as the weeks flew by my skin had been getting better and better then after 8 weeeks in December I upped the strength to Differin .3% A braveheart I am! After a week of using Differin .3% in DECEMBER....BAM! It's like I woke up one morning and my skin was PORELESS! SMOOTH! GLOWING! AND EVEN-TONED! As the weeks went by into January it got even better; people had been complimenting on how lovely my skin looked and asked me what I had been using on my skin..by mid January the oiliness of my skin had fully reduced by 50 percent!...My mom even commented on how firm my cheeks had gotten after using Differin and im only in my early twenties! Wow all I asked for was for less pimples and I got the whole works I never anticipated this to happen, I just thought it would maintain what Minocycline had done but I got soo much more..So I decided to do a detox to cleans my body of any free radicals that would contribute to premature aging; unfortunately, the toxins came out through my skin and all the pimples came rushing back I was completely mortified. I hid from people and was depressed..imagine your skin looking so great and then KABOOM you wake up one morning with miserable skin, redness, and pimples all over. So I thought I needed a stronger retinoid (instead of just coming of the stupid pills that had caused it in the first place as if Differin had stopped working. Silly me right?). So I chose Tazorac BIG mistake this thing left me with scars all over my skin due to the excessive amount of peeling which ate up all the healthy skin making it raw; my face would literally bleed from soo much peeling, when I woke up I would wash off sheeeeets of skin, daily. I looked extremely pale and the redness and burning was unbearable. I went from a glowing princess to an ugly newborn pup..I literally looked like that... :( I wanted to cryyy...My skin was left in discoloration with scars and all. TAZORAC .1 percent is horrible...ugh I hate it, even its name sounds like something that would do serious damage! It should be called RAZORAC cause it just cuts up the skin too pieces. So now I'm back on Differin .3% and lesson learned.. never leave the Differin :) I love it and I'm happy again...it's going to take some weeks to get back what I had but I'm in it for the win!...Good luck you guys!

I was on this for about a year and a half. At the beginning I did NOT experience a purging phase or really any dryness to speak of. It did improve my skin significantly (took a long time to work - about 5 months!), and for a short time I was almost completely clear. But, the breakouts started appearing again along with the occasional large, painful cyst, after about a year on the cream. Considering my extensive and well-researched routine, of which this was one of the main components, I decided that wasn't acceptable. So I went back to my derm and she has upgraded me to Tretinoin (generic Retin-A). We'll see if this makes a difference. Overall not a bad product, but not strong enough for me,

My dermatologist suggested using this 0.3% cream since 0.1% didn’t work for me. (0.1% absolutely did nothing on my skin) I should have known…. Since 0.1% didn’t work for me why did I think that 0.3% work for me? I guess I was hopeful and desperate to look for something that works on my pimples. It only worked somewhat on pimples (new ones, not old ones…. ) but it irritated my healthy skin area more than usual (He told me to put the cream all over my face to prevent new one coming.) This cost me about $200 and the result was just red skin with pimples. I wish this worked. I’m so tired of my skin problem…

This was a very painful purchase for me as I have a deductible and it's over $200 out of pocket. If you've never tried it before, ask your dermatologist for samples to see if it works. The is one of the only acne treatments that works for me. I went through a round of Accutane about 5 years ago and the acne has been returning. I used Differin in the .1 strength and it didn't help, but .3 works great for me. I ran out about a year and a half ago and have tried just about very acne product out there - AcneFree, LaRoche Posay, Neutrogena, etc. I finally realized I have spent way more on OTC brands when I should just suck it up and buy the Differin. In any case, this works well for me, and I see a noticeable difference in a week. I use Cetaphil and Purpose facewash and then follow up the treatment with Cetaphil moisturizer. I also use a glycolic acid treatment from makeupartistschoice.com once a week which really helps. The really good thing about this product is it will last me at least a couple of years. You only need a very small amount.

i love this stuff! I have tried literally everything to get rid of my acne and nothing ever worked. So my doctor prescribed me this for my face and it has worked wonders. It does dry and irritate your face at first while it's still getting used to it, but in a week or so it started to actually clear everything up.

quick history: i am 17 with a lot of little bumps (not exactly white heads) all over my forehead, and very prone to small breakouts that do not go away in my t-zone. my dermatologist prescribed this to me about 4 months ago, along with a benzoyl peroxide face wash. i love it!! the first two weeks were pretty rough. it dried my skin out completely (i have oily skin - it has returned to normal now). keep with it for at least three weeks, using it twice a week because you have to ease into this product. after a couple weeks if your skin is pretty much back to normal, up it to as many times a week as your skin can handle (but do it slowly!), and remember to always wear sunscreen when using this. anyways, i love this. it cleared up all those little bumps and acne breakouts. am routine: 8% benzoyl peroxide wash and DML lotion (every three days exfoliate with st. ives) pm routine: 8% benzoyl peroxide wash and CeraVe pm lotion (every other night the 0.3% differin). if my skin is extra dry and flaky i use eucerin intensive repair lotion and some vaseline.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVVVEEE THIS!!!!! I have really super sensitive, dry-normal skin & this has worked miracles for me :) Got rid of all of my breakouts and prevented future ones as well! I have been using this for a little over 2 months now and it is totally my HG... Before I was getting minor breakouts and the occasional underground pimple- later found out that Cetaphil caused this- and now my skin is almost completely clear. The only downside is the price- I paid $77 I think but it completely depends on your amount of insurance. It also does dry my skin out even more than usual but I've found a great moisturizer to combat the dryness.
Products I use:
AM
Cleanser- Philosophy "Purity Made Simple"
Moisturizer- Aveeno "Ultra Calming Moisturizer" & pure Aloe Vera gel before Aveeno moisturizer
PM
Same cleanser, moisturizer & the Aloe Vera gel
To Heal Scarring- Extra-strength Zincofax... It heals scarring soo well & also helps w/ dryness/peeling
Treatment- Differin 0.3%

I use this every single day and have for a few years. At first I used it to control acne but now I just use it for the overall quality and texture of my skin. Using this daily helps to resurface and keep my skin looking smooth and flawless. It will also prevent the little lines on my face from getting any bigger! It is quite pricy so I use just a very tiny dab all of my face.

Differin is one of the (many) products that I use to treat my bad teenage acne. It certainly does help to keep acne under control, although for me it never cleared my skin up totally. Another pro is that it doesn't stain clothing or towels like benzoyl peroxide does. The most major con is that it costs a lot for me - like seventy dollars for each tube!!!! But overall, I would recommend it.

It works well on developing, itchy, swelling pimples and prevents it from fully forming. However if you have acne that is already formed it won't be much help. It causes you to break out before your skin heals. It also causes sensitivity to the sun and dryness as well. This will only last a few days but it does help with the tiny acne spots.

My HG acne treatment!!
AT FIRST-Prior to using this product,I've struggled with acne since I was about 12. My skin would fluctuate greatly from a few random pimples to cystic ruptures that would scar my face. My skin had always made me self conscious and I always cursed my friends with perfect skin, because they never knew the continuous struggle people with acne face.
When I entered my early 20’s my skin went from unpredictable to my cheeks covered with persistent medium-sized pimples that would never come to a head and large, painful cystic pimples mainly cluttering all around my cheeks. Some pimples were sticking out and some were deep cysts underneath that would take weeks to months to finally go away and most times leaving me with dark marks or hyperpigmentation that took months to fade. This was the worst my skin had ever been. But, how could that be? I’m not a teenager anymore but at this point I have tried everything OTC including some persriptions,retin-a,benzamycin,sulfur wash to name a few..even I had already tried Differin but this time I followed directions lol I was 14 and I was applying WAY to much back then and becameto irritated to continue..

03/11-My derm prescribed this product as part of an anti-acne regimen: Differin cream .1 + oral antibiotic(doxy or mono) or one that you can handle, topical antibiotic (she gave me clindamycin lotion to offset the dryness that may occur), Cetaphil cleanser, and olay sensitive skin sp 15). She also wanted to put me on b-control but that's not an option for me since I tried that before and my blood pressure rose to levels that could give me a stroke but anyway--- To be completely and utterly honest, the first two weeks were a little rough. Initially, this product did dry out my face and it became more sensitive to skin care products. But since I have oily skin it kind of made it NORMAL from drying it out a little.Adapalene (Differin) has been shown not to break down in sunlight like other Retinoids. Adapalene is actually a synthetic version of Vitamin A. It can make you photosensitive and the sun be sure to use a gentle sunscreen!!! I did get some dryness and flaking and a little discomfort. My skin felt, flaky, tight, irritated, felt raw,and at sometimes felt like I had slight windburn. But all the meanwhile my skin was steadily improving!!! Make sure you do not get this anywhere near or under your eyes btw.Like many of the other reviewers, I did suffer an "initial breakout" of sorts but if you take an oral antibiotic with it,it minimizes with your purging process . Some will purge more then others depending on how many pimples you have under the surface that did not come out yet. My derm also recommended if the purging becomes to much or to painful to use a PEA size every OTHER night,a few nights I did do that but for the most part I would still apply but do what works for you. Sometimes I would wake up and my face would be an absolute oil-slick overnight. I'd wake up in the morning and my face would be completely covered in oil, That has since stopped. I don't know if that was part of the purging process of oil and impurities or what but still my face was steadily improving!! I could quickly see a change in the way the pimples that were forming. During my purging process I got small pimples that quickly went away ,that was already a big difference since I was used to getting huge painful cysts!!!! just small pimples that go away quickly sometimes even over night if I apply to my face and then apply and a good dab on that pimple as a spot treatment as well. I find that differin clears up my acne without giving me down time or looking a mess..I only went through a short time of discomfort and it was so worth it. I love when I get little flakies and new baby skin is waiting for me!! There are no instant results. But with any Retinoid product you have to have patience. It clears the gunk out of your pores, revealing fresher skin and helps with cell turnover. I haven't had any major problems with more breakouts I still do get an occasional stress or hormonal pimple. My skin texture and tone were improving and many of my acne scars were beginning to fade very happy.

10/06/11-Now my skin is clearer than it was back then, I still get an occasional pimple due to stress and hormones. I still have a few old marks from past volcanic pimples that are fading from YEARS of eruptions. My skin's now also really soft and smooth, which was never the case on other topical treatments. I no longer use the oral and topical antibiotics, I only prescription medication I use is the Differin and it has been a godsend for me!! I have since bumped up from the .1 lotion, I now I alternate the .1 gel with the .3 gel nightly and love it. But if you never took Differen I would suggest starting with the .1 lotion and take it slow since the .1 gel seems stronger. Some days I'm even brave enough to go without foundation before I had to cake it on.

This stuff might be pricey, but it is a MIRACLE.
I thought nothing would work for my skin until I started using this. I use it every night and almost all those bumps are completely gone by morning. I use to have them all on my forehead and chin, and now I have 1 or 2 BARELY noticeable bumps. Just make sure you dont put too much on, or it might dry or irritate your skin a little. I didnt have much of a problem with that though. I am soooo glad I have this stuff and would definitely recommend.
