Unfortunately, this product dried out portions of my face, leaving me with flaky skin on my nose. Just wasn't right for me.

This is my favorite cleanser to use for washing my face. It has a light, fluffy, creamy texture, a very mild scent and it does the job. It's just a wonderful product. My skin feels supple and refreshed after using it.

I have only been using this for a few days but so far I really like it. I am following this with the hydrating fresning toner.lotion. It leaves my face soft and the smallest amount foams up nicely so it should last a long time. Pricewise I did not think it was that expensive compared to other brands. WIll update my review if it causes any breakouts.

I love this cleanser and I have used them all cetaphil right on up to La Mer. This is great for my skin, very soothing. IT has aloe to soothe and reduce redness jojoba oil & hyaluronic acid for moisture. This is the first cleanser I have used that leaves my skin looking better than before I washed it.
And removes all of my facial makeup (I wear a lot of it, I am a makeup artist)
And a few notes, your cleanser should leave you a little tight after washing. You have just stripped all of the dirt, oil and makeup sitting on your skin. It you like to feel moist immediately after washing off your makeup switch to the Softening Milk Cleanser. The orange beads are Hylarounic Acid, which draws water into your skin. The cleanser does not exfoliate. The Freshing Lotions (toners) exfoliate with fruit acids. Also to avoid excess residue make sure you are barely squeezing any product out onto the palm of your had (less than a pea size) and using on a damp face. You should never use your foaming cleansers to remove your eye makeup. This area is already lacking in oil glands and does not need to be deep cleansed. The Softening milk cleanser is the only Cleanser that is suggested for uses around your eyes.

I LOVE this cleanser! my skin is normal /oily/dry in some spots. This removes all makeup and excess oil, but dosent dry out my skin. Oily and dry spots are pretty much gone. The orange beads in this are NOT to exfoliate. THey are beads a type of moisturizer that burst when you rub them THe price really isnt bad because you literelly only need a pea sized amount. This bottle should last a very long time. This is total HG material for me! If your oily, dont be afraid of this one! EDIT: I think this cleanser may be slightly drying. Its probably better suited towards more oily skins

my SA gave me a trial pack with NARS skincare samples in it.As soon as I heard they're produced by Shiseido labs,I knew they're not going to be any good because no Shiseido product actually work for me.This is no exception. It's almost like soap. The smell, the dryness it gives, everything about it reminds me of soap.I heard it retails $35 ! What a rip off for such a terrible product!

Good cleanser. Very important: use only a very small amount - we're talking a small pea size bit - and be sure to apply to very (dripping) wet skin. Do that, and it lathers very creamily and beautifully, covers face and neck, and it won't dry out your skin. Also rinse scrupulously - I use a face cloth, just splashing won't get this off. Use too much it dries like mad. This does have a few tiny granules, but they weren't irritating - and I'm sensitive to that stuff. In fact my skin is dry, sensitive and - eh-hem - maturing! This is good for removing face makeup, do not use on eyes, for heaven's sake! The packaging is annoying - bizarrely heavy cap, we're talking if you drop it you will smash bones in your feet or a tiled floor. Also the hole in the top of the tube is very large, so easy to get far too much product - be careful!!! I wouldn't want to use this every day, but for days when skin feels particularly grubby or i've been wearing foundation, this is good.

I was in Paris last tuesday so I popped by at the NARS counter... I bought a blush (Desire) and the SA asked me what I used on my face. Then she started talking about the skincare line.
Now I have quite sensitive skin and am acne prone. Right now I am full of cystic acne (the big hard ones that hurt and won't go away fast).
I told this to the SA because she was talking about the hydrating creams and frankly I was scared of trying them.
But I thought I might give them a go with a cleansing product since I needed to buy one anyway. So she proposed this as a makeup remover/cleanser/mask. She tried it on my hand sprayed water on it and washed it off.. my skin felt smooth so I decided to buy it.
I came back home and tried it immediately. First of all... DO NOT try this on your eyes... I didn't read the instructions as it seemed she had explained it long enough to me... Since she had said it removed makeup I assumed it removed eye make up too... It stinged like a MF!!
Anyway I continued and used it on the rest of my face. I sure takes away foundation and all... and you don't need a lot... But when I rinsed I'm sorry my skin was not smooth... I didn't even feel all that clean...
I hate to diss NARS cos I love the brand.. but I don't think the skincare is worth it. For me anyway... It might work for very oily skin.
And maybe the SA's should explain the products better... I was almost blinded by this stuff cos the girl told me it removed makeup...
EDITED:
I tried this again last night and although it still is quite drying for me on it's own, if I use it in combination with another cleanser and an eye makeup remover it does leave my skin quite pure and clean. But I'll only use this once a week when I actually have time to go through the entire routine.

I love this cleanser. For years I'd always stayed away from cream cleansers because I'm combination to oily, and I thought I needed something that lathered and stripped. When I made the switch to Mario Badescu, I was hooked on more gentle, non-foaming cleansers - my skin isn't stripped and therefore doesn't make even more oil to compensate for what I've desperately scrubbed away. Despite the outrageous price tag, I tried this - crossing my fingers the entire time that I'd hate it - but I love the clean feeling. It's rich, yes, but it's perfect for this February Canadian weather. I love that it contains aloe, and the citrusy scent doesn't bother me at all. Somewhere on the packaging, though, it states: "Packaged for Shiseido for Nars." I will get to that point when I'll refuse to pay $40 or so for a cleanser, especially when my MB, at a little over $20, still gives me the same, desired clean feeling. So maybe then I'll just close my eyes, use Shiseido's cream cleanser, and tell my particular, sensitive skin it's Nars.

Rich, reamy texture, slight citrus scent. Non-drying and removes makeup well, was great for my super dry skin that was brought on by the winter weather. Loved how it pampered my skin. However, now that I've moved to where its hot and humid I don't think I would consider repurchasing because it's probably too rich.

I received a large sample of this and thought it had a nice orangy scent to it and since the name says "Gentle Cream Cleanser" I figured it would be okay for my very sensitive face... wrong!! I used this once and my face felt nice afterwards with a slight tingly feeling... then a few hours later I realized that the tingly feeling was because my skin was having a reaction to it and when I woke up the next morning I had bumps all over my face and it was swollen and red. I would have shelled out the $$ for this product if it didn't make my skin react, but after this experience I can't say I will be buying anything from the NARS skincare line. Better to stick to a product line that focuses on skincare! However, it isn't the product that is bad, just the way I reacted to it so I am giving it a 3.

NARS gives out sample pack to promote their skincare> But as a matter of fact, it keeps people away!
By seeing the name of the product, I thought it is gentle and the MUA did telling me it is suitable for dry skin.
And I could tell, it's nothing different from aother balancing gel cleanser!
The only difference is this one is thicker. They are nearly the same.
I'd never buy it since it is too drying - even I used it during this humid, warm climate. I can't imagine if I try it in winter.

I received a large sample of this cleanser from the NARS counter. For some reason, the SA recommended it for my oily, blemish-prone skin. The cleanser had a pleasant, creamy texture, and a little went a long way, which could ALMOST justify it's $32 price tag. However, its citrusy fragrance reminded me of a mix between Orange Glo and Goo-Gone (both of which are household cleansers available at Wal-Mart). It stung my face a little, perhaps due to the citrus or the botanical extracts. And when I rinsed the cleanser off, it left a bizarre waxy film on my face and hands. Despite all these drawbacks, I quite liked the cleanser (which sounds silly considering it burned and smelled funny, I know). But the outrageous price tag would prevent me from buying it over other, comparable and more affordable cleansers.

This is the BEST cleanser I've ever used. It completely removes makeup and leave my skin feeling very clean and soft. Great orange scent. I highly recommend this product!
EDIT 7/05: Still using it, still love it, still my HG cleanser.

After returning the NARS foaming cleanser (see my review) I exchanged it for this one. This is only marginally better... nothing at all special about it and it costs over $30. Love NARS makeup but am SOOO disappointed by their skincare line.

This worked very nicely on my normal to oily combo skin. I did not find this difficult to spread, I just splash some water on my face and it goes on beautifully. This did not break me out.

PROS: pleasant citrus smell, cleans well without stripping CONS: wasteful packaging (lids are very heavy and use a lot of plastic) COMMENTS: thick and creamy, non-foaming, contains jojoba beads; 4.2 oz sells for $32 ($2 more than the balancing foaming cleanser); worked fine even with my combo-to-oily skin
