Beautyful quintet: very nice and classy colours for a daily office look. The powder is velvety and goes on very easily. The colours are not too pigmented and add a beautiful wash of colour. The 5 colours can be used alone or in different combinations (there is a leaflet that explains how to make the best out of the palette). The central brown is matte whilst the warm brown, golden peach, pinky stone, coppery gold are slightly shimmery (not glittery). If you are looking for a superpigmented shocking colour this is not for you. But if you want a very classy and good quality powder this is the choice. I prefer this palette to Chanel Kaska Beige, but i think Giorgio Armani makes much better make up. The price is steep (£40) but you get 5 colours, beautiful packaging with mirror and it lasts for ages. Love it paired with my dior addict lipstic in nude 333. Would not repurchase as I do not use 2 of the colours in the quintet.

Quite pretty eyeshadows but not "colourful" enough. They are actually too sheer and discreet. However, its velvety texture is consistent to the dior quality.

I used to work in a cosmetics department right next to the Dior counter, so I had plenty of time to play with all the eye shadows. This one was by far my favorite. I could make it work for any season. I will say that it is best for very fair women (or men! I did use this on a guy once, LOL!). Used on olive tones, you need a primer- something like Clinique's Touch Base in Canvas. I have hazel eyes and this made them pop like nothing else. The colors are very buildable- not too heavy for daytime, and, if you use a wet brush, can be perfectly dramatic for evening. P.S. Natalie Portman was wearing this on the cover of Vogue recently- HOT!

This is the only quint from Dior that I've ever returned. I love them all but this one is not as pigmented and the light colors kind of look the same on my lids. It looks gorgeous in the pan though and I bought it online so...couldn't really tell.

This retails for $58 plus tax in Canada. The colours have been described well by other reviewers so I won't say anything about that.
When I first got this, I was unsure if I liked it. The colours are beautiful, but very sheer and they creased on me after a few hours. I tried this with UDPP on my eyelids first and now I love Sunset Cafe! Still quite sheer, but a nice wash of colour and didn't crease even after 12 hours of wear. There's just something about these shades that makes my eyes glow, and most eyeshadows do not do that for me.

5 fabulous and wearable shades. The colors are really pretty, very smooth, pigmented enough to make your eyes look amazing but discreet enough to be worn on an everyday basis. My favorite quad ever!

This is fabulous! I love Dior quints and have been wearing them for years, but recently, many of the colors are just too iridescent for me (for this reason, I decided against buying either of the quints in the Summer 2010 collection, although they are beautiful).
The colors look brighter in the pan than they do on my lids, where they are very, very flattering. There is some shimmer, but it's subtle.
Other reviewers have described the colors very well, so I'll just add that this quint does remind me of a tropical sunset, as the name implies. A great choice for summer, and a terrific match for the coral lip and cheek colors which are so trendy right now.

I absolutely adore this quint! It is completely worth the money. I am an NW25 with dark hair and eyes and every shade is wearable and beautiful on me. My eyes really stand out when I wear it. I tend to look better in cooler shades so I was pretty surprised that this worked out so well for me. The shades have been detailed below so I won't get into that. The texture and pigmentation is wonderful for all of the shades as well. This quad has the typical glowiness that every other Dior quint I've tried has had. If you are looking for a new summery palette, give this one a go, you won't be dissapointed.

I own 3 Dior quints: this one which I purchased the summer of 2007; Pure Dreams which was my first and is no longer available; and Night Butterfly which I bought in July 2009. The colors in Sunset Cafe are (starting from center and going clockwise) warm brown; golden peach; pinky stone; coppery gold; and golden taupe-brown. These colors look exquisite with my blue eyes and go great with my NW20 skin (Dior quints tends to cater to cool-toned gals while Chanel quads better suit warmer-toned femmes). They are shimmery but not iridescent.
I have used these shadows expressly in the spring and summer but today I decided to mix them with the black/charcoal gray and burgundy of the Night Butterfly, and the look was stunning. If you are wondering which quint to try and want a great quint going into spring and summer (and even into fall), Sunset Cafe is the one for you. I am glad that I bought it, and it stands out as the one very different range of shades among the Dior quints which have begun to look too similar to one another. For the price, 5 quality eyeshadows are worth it, and I'm worth it too.

This is my favorite of the Dior Quints and I consider it to be the best. I have almost all of them. (I think Incognito is the worst.....no color payoff whatsoever) However it might not be flattering universally, it will be stunning on many types of complexions.
If you are looking for a golden bronze look, this is your palette. Beautiful on blondes. The golden peach is to die for. This color should be used on the lid. The pink gold color is good for the inner corner, the deep bronze for liner and the outer V, the gunmetal shade in the crease (this cool toned shade really intensifies the warmth of the golden colors!) and just a bit of the iridescent white-pink-purple shade on the browbone.
If you want to intensify the look, you can use UDPP or TF Shadow Insurance. MAC Rubenesque paint pot is what you would want as a colored base. Another fabulous option is to wet your brush with eye drops before applying the color. (Try it...!!!)

I have altogether 4 Dior quints at the time (Stylish Move, Pink Idol and Tender Chic along with this) and this is my least favourite what comes to quality. The colours are very pretty but the apricot is way too sheer, the golden is overpowering it when I wear them next to each other. However, I do like the quality af all of these and I feel a breath of luxury every time I use them.

Generally, I don't look into Dior quints, as there are colors I never wear in each. But this is the one powder quad I'm happy to have invested in. The colors go on much more neutral than they appear--a bit lighter I'd say--but that's exactly what I like about it. It's not warm toned on me! In fact. it is a glowy, neutral quad that doesn't look dull, & is not overly shimmery. The shadows do fade a bit by the end of the day, but it wears well.

i will agree with illuminate1, below, that this is sheer. but god is it GORGEOUS!! the tester in the store did it NOOOOO justice. i actually squealed when i opened the case. i would prefer if it was better pigmented (a la NARS), but we can't have it all. my light green eyes and fair skin work well with the palette but i imagine it being very versatile. a tan would really make this one pop. i also want to note that i get a lot more attention than normal from the opposite sex when i use this. dont ask me how!

Well I guess I am going to be one of the few to "ehh" this product.. I am just not impressed with Dior shadows. They look beautiful, not to mention the luxe packaging. But that is where my happiness stops. I try to get a nice look going but its just not showing up! I am no makeup newbie, mind you. I KNOW how to layer and use bases, etc. But when I am using a $55 eyeshadow palette I don't want to work so hard to get it to show up like it does in the pan! I just want to lay down some PP and then whip out a brush and actually SEE the colors. Can't do that with these, they are super-duper sheer and you have to layer for any type of impact. The pretty shimmer you see in the pan? A no-show on the eyes. I am a person of *light* color (dark brown hair & eyes medium skintone) and I just don't think Dior works well with anything my level or darker. I'm taking it back to Nordies.
I would rather have a color show up too much and sheer it out than barely show up and have to build it/pile it on. With Dior, I will stick to the lipsticks/glosses. Now those really ARE nice.

Great colors and goes on very smooth and shimmery. i keep coming back to this compact of colors. i use urban decay's primer and my shadows stays on from morning to night (late) without creasing. i also use dior's eye show base in undressed beige. the combination is so pretty.

This is perhaps the prettiest set of shadows i own, and believe me i own MANY MANY SETS....many....
i thought it would be too warm for me, but nope, just gorgeous. the colors are sort of ethereal..the colors are a sheer, shimmery peach, a duo chrome type beige/pink, a sheer shimmery grayish brown, a gold that is also sheer and shimmery that tends towards a sunshine-y yellow, not a green gold. the color in the middle is an olive/brown, also sheer and shimmery. i never ever wanted this quint, but the SA at Dillard's tried it on me and i fell in love with it. i wear it with diorama lipstick...ok ok ok.. i saw this look on charlize theron so that is what gave me the idea to pair it with diorama l/s...but it is lovely. i recommend for warm and cool coloring...

This is my absolute favourite eyeshadow palette, ever! The very acurately-named sunset shades are so perfectly coordinated, and compliment my fair olive skintone beautifully - they wake up my entire face! I must admit, these shades look dauntingly bright, but on my eyes, they're much more sheer; they're rich, warm, and shimmery, but definitly not fluorescent, like they appear. I love the light, powdery texture of these shadows - it makes for smooth, silky application with excellent staying power. I paid $55 for this (CAN), which works out to be $11 for each shadow pan - quite the deal, especially since Dior's single shadows retail for about $25. These shimmery shades totally make my brown eyes sparkle - this is, hands down, my HG shadow palette!

Hi there, I bought this and then read the reviews! I wasn't sure whether to try it but couldn't resist. I really like this. True it is sheer - the colour pay off isn't great. I find that it looks like a sunset on my eyes and it a real holiday palette. It has day time colour then a nice gentle smoky night look. I am pleased especially when used with UDPP, it lasts all day without me touching it up.
Edit - it was too sheer and I gave it away...

Without actually having the MA apply this to me at the counter, I probably would not have considered this quad because I usually gravitate towards cooler colors. I find that brownish colors have a tendency to go orange on me. I do admit the peachy-orange color in this quint is not my favorite. However, I do like the other 4 colors, and the pinkish-gold color and the bronzey color are two of my favorites.
The other thing that I like about the Dior quints is that they are very silky and pigmented. Also, the compact and the sponge-tip applicators are attractive and useful.
For reference, I am Asian, NC20 with black hair and dark brown eyes.

I love this quint. Gorgeous, wearable palette of warm, neutral shimmery shades...really goes well with my neutral LLL/hazel/brunette coloring...in particular the middle shade which is a bronze with a very slight green tone in it (reminds me of Stila's Golightly...but even better) I bought the new Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect in Stretchy Brown to go with it...it's not really brown at all but a warm rosy nude shade with a pink shimmer to it. Really loving the textures of these newer Dior quints and they last forever on the eye with no creasing at all. Well worth the money, in my opinion. The usual glamorous and luxe Dior packaging, with a nice big mirror inside the compact and sponge tip applicators you can actually use. Love. I would most definately repurchase should I ever run out of it.
