I can't comment on the overall effectiveness of this cleanser as it really irritated my skin from the first use. My skin is quite sensitive with both eczema and acne and unfortunately it really stung as I applied it and I woke up the following morning with angry patches of eczema. So, maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't recommend this if you are concerned about sensitivity (despite what it claims on the packaging!)

I love this stuff. I never had proper beauty routine, because everything I tried felt so wrong. I would either feel too oily after, or too dry. So after my sister in law recommendation who has seriously gorgeous skin, I bought this cleanser. Pharmacist was telling me such a good things, so I decided I can look over the price. As soon as I started using it, I knew this is it. It cleans so well, but at the same time it is it is very gentle on the skin. My skin feels perfectly clean, but no ugly tight feeling afterwards. My skin is never oily anymore. I wish it is cheaper, but for what it is offering it is worth it.

This is an excellent gentle cleanser for sensitive skin. The soft "rose" fragrance does not irritate my acne-prone skin at all. It doesn't strip your skin or leave a waxy finish the way some sensitive-skin cleansers do. I normally stay away from senstive-skin cleansers because they often do not contain ingredients such as AHAs which exfoliate and prevent acne and blocked pores, so my initial reaction to this cleanser was that it wasn't "exfoliating" enough to thoroughly clean my face. However, using this product, I now realise that I don't have to always use AHAs to wash my face and that it is good to give my face a break once in a while however bad my skin is. The only down side of this product is that it doesn't remove makeup very well, so I have to wash my face 3 to 4 times to get all of my makeup off. Also, if you have combination or oily skin, this cleanser will not help in controlling shine.

I love this. I used to use their Extremely Gentle cleanser, which I liked (more than Cetaphil, which has more SLS in it and felt waxy) and got through several bottles. But, I prefer this. I like the pump, but I wish you could lock it closed for travel. It smells nice. I have very sensitive skin that doesn't usually tolerate scented products but this seems fine. It removes make up quite well (although I do use my Bioderma to remove my eye make up, unless I'm feeling lazy that is), but doesn't strip the skin. My skin looks clear and calm. I like how the packaging looks. And I've never ever bought an Avene product that I didn't at least LIKE, if not love. The whole line is great!

I wouldn't recommend this product for really sensitive skin since it has fragrance in it. But surprisingly enough, it works for me AND it doesn't break me out :)
I have sensitive, combination, acne prone skin and I didn't react to the product. The only drawback is the heavy scent. It smells good, but it's very prominent. Anyways I would buy again since it removes makeup and dirt well.

I bougth this the other week. Though i was afraid it would clog my pores (because its not a product for acne prone skin) it didnt! I love the smell, and the feeling of it hydrates my skin.

I finally realized that my acne prone skin doesnt need products that are drying but hydrating! my skin havent looked better in six months!! im so thrilled!

Well I have to say im so disappointed with this. I have used avene products in the past and thought i'd give this one a go. I've only used it twice and its been relegated to the back of the bathroom cabinet. It stung and my skin was so dry and tight afterwards. It doesn't smell particularly nice. It felt nice and creamy when I was massaging it in (despite the stinging) so I was expecting good things from it but I woke up this morning with 2 huge spots on my chin. I've just swapped from EL which I dont like either - I thought this would calm my skin after the EL. Big mistake

I love this cleanser because it's super gentle, doesn't irritate, has a subtle smell and leaves my skin feeling soft. Im on to my 3rd bottle.

The only thing I dont like is that it doesnt foam and the packaging looks and feels a bit boring and cheapo

This product was an outrage! I am very dissapointed with the product. To start with the packaging is the worst i have seen, the cheep cardboard to contain the despicable cream is weak making it hard to get at the product.

When i normally purchase products i like to see what is in the product also how to use it,the box itself was very confusing as there is many lauanges to decifer from,When i eventually came to the correct instructions it was very basic so left me to figure out how to use the product on own.

Once the product was applied i was a little dissapointed as i felt no sudden affect. The cream then started to sting which was to be expected,I Then caught a look of myself in the mirror and found a gargantouous red mark on my face the dissbelife was imence.

I am very upset and shocked as i had great expections for the product i would like a reply to put to bed my concerns to rest.

Not a good product!!!!

This is the best cleanser I have used so far. It's so soft and kind to my super sensitive skin, that I cannot stop touching my cheeks after every wash.It doesn't lather a lot, and I prefer it like that. Also, there is almost no scent, so, that intensifies my trust in it. I have tried many expensive cleansers (Estee Lauder, Shu Uemura, Clinique, Lancome... the list could go on and on), but none delivered such results. No irritation, and my occasional acne spots become less red. And it's so economical. I will never stop buying it!

This cleanser is really gentle! It is a thick gel which removes all my makeup, including my eye makeup (with no stinging at all) easily and leaves my skin moist and calm! Very non irritating and so far no breakouts from it. Avene can be a bit hit and miss for me, but some of their products are really wonderful! *EDIT* Sadly doesnt remove makeup as well I had thought so still looking for a good gentle cleanser.

I was using Avene’s extremely gentle cleanser and loved it but hated the smell, so I thought I’d try this. I love-love-love the smell of this, it’s very similar to Lancome’s Gel Eclat Pearly Foam. It has a very smooth and light gel consistency, peachy colour and feels nice on the skin. It doesn’t foam, but it’s not supposed to so I don’t mind, and a little goes a long way. I also liked how gentle yet effective it was with makeup and contained minimal ingredients. The pump was a bit fiddly and annoying when your hands are wet and it slides around everywhere but otherwise it deposited an okay amount of product. I ended up replacing the pump with the flip top lid of an old bottle of their other gentle cleanser (which I also have a review of) which works a lot better. I think they just wanted to differentiate this from their other cleaner so they put a pump on it but it’s really not necessary or user friendly. I did find it a little drying in areas and am going to use it up in summer when my skin is more oily, I wouldn’t recommend this for dry skin. Overall a nice refreshing cleanser and great for combination sensitive skin.

I'm Asian. As I have sensitive skin, I decided to try Avene products out. I landed myself on this cleanser as I thought it would be gentle enough fir sensitive skin as what the brand claims. However, after few days of using it, my skin dried up. My skin was peeling I felt so bad as the whole bottle was still full. I mean I just bought it at an expensive price and now I found out that I bought the wrong cleanser??Heartache on the $$$$ !! Out of desperation to replenish moisture back into my skin, I bought Avene moisturizing lotion to use. This product is amazing. I love it instantly. It gives you all the moisture you ever need. Simply so good. As for the cleanser, I decided to try it out again but this time I diluted it with water on my palm before applying on my face. Previously, I just rub in the cleanser directly on to the face. Diluting it with water before applying certainly helps if you have a dry sensitive skin like me. This way, the effect was good. I don't feel my skin drying up anymore after cleansing and I can still use the cleanser without discarding it. Luckily save me the heartache of losing $$$$. But I don't think I'll buy again the cleanser as I think it's more suitable for oily skin. Funny, I thought sensitive skin's product had to be mild enough to cater for all types of sensitive skin. But the moisturing lotion is a good buy. With that, my skin is more moisturize. It's like miracle water to me. Definitely repurchasing.

Recently received this product with another purchase. As I use the Avene toner, I thought I'd give it a go. I am pleased with this product. With my sensitive skin, I was concerned about irritation. This product leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.

This was my very first cleanser and it was amazing. This stiff got me started on proper skincare. It was light, gentle, didn't irritate or worsen my sensitive skin, moisturized and cleaned. I've since moved on to try other cleansers, but I would happily go back to add some variety to my routine. The pump bottle made getting product out easy and kept things clean. Love it.

First of all I hate the packaging, because to close it you have to get product out, and that isn't handy at all. That's why I took one lippie out. As for the product itselt: I like it a lot! I gets all of my make-up of except for waterproof and it leaves skin hydrated but not oily. It isn't harsh at all. Would buy again.

I tried in vain to find cheaper products like Simple cleanser and moisturiser but ending up going back to Avene as my skin went into a hellish mess with no reprieve! I found the Cleanance soapless wash to be good but not during this super cold weather. This seemed a good alternative. So far my acne has disappeared again (thanks Simple!) and my skin tone has evened out. I do use this in conjunction with the Skin recovery cream and Thermale water. Occasionally i use the calming serum but not consistently. Nice Pump bottle which locks for safe spill free travelling and looks nice.
Even with these products I will never be spot free but they saved my face. Consequently I am shelling out about £30 for all the products, BUT for the results I will pay as long as I can afford it. If anything changes I will update.

UPDATE: This stopped working and just wasn't cleaning properly, so I stopped using it. I still keep it around for time when I need a really gentle wash but won't re-buy

I really like this. It does smell like Dove soap. I know a lot of people complain about burning, but I felt nothing of the sort. I have pretty tolerant skin though. It took a little while to get used to the lack of bubbles and suds, but this cleansed really well. It also left my skin when dry, soft and hydrated not stripped of oil and tight. I would recommend this to anyone who has the money to buy it, otherwise you might want to try the CeraVe Hydrating cleanser. (Although if it wasn't for money I would continue to buy this, I'm a sucker for French pharmacy brands) With all non-sudsing cleansers I would recommend swiping with a makeup remover first, if you wear makeup to get a totally clean face. Because they're gentler and don't sudse as much, they won't get every last bit of makeup off.
