I've been using this for 2 months, but I didn't notice any 'lightening' effects. However, my face does feels moisturized. It's just that there's NO lightening effects.
Overall Review:
-Very Moisturizing
-NO lightening/brightening effects after using it for 2 months
-Will not repurchase 'cos I'm currently using Garnier's Aqua Defense Essence & I'm very satisfied with this product. :)

Though I am not certain of its whitening properties, it is fairly moisturising and pleasant to use. I have combination skin (oily T-zone, and dry patches on certain areas from frequent benzoyl peroxide usage) and I use this daily alongside minimal amounts of Cetaphil to keep my face balanced.
This did not break me out; kept my T-zone very tame in terms of oiliness; and is my after-shower light moisturiser before any makeup goes on. It has served me well in my battle against acne and I will definitely buy it again. :)

Biggest crap in the name of a moisturizer. All it does is bring the natural oil from the entire body to the face.

I used this product a few years ago when I was still a teenager, I remember throwing it out even when I am not done with the whole bottle yet but I don't remember why.
NOW I DO! This cream smells pleasant enough, it takes a long time for the white cast to seep into your skin. First day, I saw a slight difference, my skin was dewy. Turns out it was not, it was oil! Thinking it was my foundation, I skipped makeup totally but the same thing happened! That's not all. After so long of trying to clear my outbreaks, pimples started popping up and I remember why I threw it out!
NEVER EVER BUY THIS PRODUCT. Though relatively inexpensive, I would suggest buying some other moisturizer from the drugstore. I am so angry! Now, got to soothe my poor skin.

please not that i only use this at night
pros: this does work (in my case, i could see the difference after one use) my father has super dark skin and my mum is super fair so my skin is prone to hyperpigmentation especially when i'm outdoors. This is my go-to cure for my sun tanned skin.
Cons: I dont use this consistently but i used it for 14 days in a row. It becomes ineffective by the seventh day so yeah. So use it only when you need it. It doesn't work as a moisturiser. If you use it during the day, it is obvious and it becomes flaky and makes all your bad spots look apparent but thats just because of its weird texture, it wont break you out. I prefer buying the tube version of the product for hygenic reasons. This stuff does make you a teeny bit oily (a lot during the day).
Overall, i'd reccomend this product to be ONLY used at night. It works, try it :)

It moisturizes well while giving a matte finish. However, my face becomes really oily after a couple of hours. Also, it did not really lighten my acne marks.

DON'T EVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING THIS PRODUCT! First off, its oily as heck just as sunscreens are. Second, the stuff leave a purplish white cast that sunscreens with SPF 70+ do. Its gross and doesn't even hydrate. Plus its super expensive for the amount. I usually don't mercilessly hate products, but this is terrible. Should be discontinued. Could give a 0 if I could, but i'll just give it a lippie [minimum]
Will never ever repurchase.

I'm glad that this product is suitable for some of you. I, however, reacted VERY badly to this product. I received a few sample tubes of this product, and I decided to try it out. I have acne-prone, combination oily skin, and I usually use Biore UV "milk" line of sunscreens, which keeps my skin matte for almost 8 hours on end.
Garnier Light Whiten and Protect moisturizing cream on the other hand, does NOT absorb well on my skin. Rather, it remains extremely oily and tacky from the time of application up until I wash it off my face. The fragrance starts out pleasant enough, but is a bit cloying after a while. I used this product for a couple of days on my face and neck, and I have broken out BIG TIME. My cheeks, which usually remain pretty clear of acne, is now full of tiny zits. I know my hormonal cycle pretty well, and I know that I'm not supposed to be breaking out at this time of the month, so I can attribute this pimple-galore to Garnier.
Will definitely NOT use again. May probably use it on my elbows and knees as a moisturizer so that I don't waste the product. But I'll never use it on my face again.

I never thought I would like this that much, but I did! This is a light yet very moisturising cream that is easy and pleasant to use. Plus, it has SPF (could be higher though)... The only downside is the smell.... Lovely, but too overpowering for a face cream... And that's the only reason I won't buy again.

I was really amazed at the comments others had given for this product. Because for me, it worked best! once i started using it, i'm not sure if the skin color has lightened or not but the skin tone has improved a lot. it has become more even, and it feels so light. it doesn't feel like wearing something on my face. and it was not at all oily for me. my skin is of combination type and i used to get it very oily in my T zone. but after using it, even after 8 hours, my face looks fresh and it's a great change for me. i had tried out other brands in the past and they all were oily and heavy. and this one seemed so good for me. and it's for the third time i'm buying this product. and i'm sure that i will continue to use it.

This product leaves my face oily for a long time. Will not ever buy or use this (even if it's free). It is greasy and the smell lingers on my face.

I remember I used this product a few years back because I was interested in getting fairer skin and the product promised fairer skin in 28 days.
When I was using it, I remember the formula did not blend well onto my skin, there was a white residue after I tried to massage the moisturizer onto my face. The white residue would also transfer onto my hands if I happen to rub my face, it is almost like my face did not absorb the moisturizer at all and it was a turn off for me and I ended up using this moisturizer for night use only.
Just early this year when I was visiting a relative, I passed by a beauty shop selling the Garnier Light at a discounted price. It was advertised as "Singapore's best selling whitening cream" and I gave into temptation purchasing it again. So decided to give it another try... I mean, if it is Singapore's best selling whitening cream, then it should work well for me too!
I regret even purchasing it again. I notice that the white residue is still there even with me using a bit of the product! I read reviews from the net that massaging it slowly onto the skin will produce better whitening effects but I have yet to see any results.
Another thing to take note as some have mentioned is that the moisturizer makes my face very oily! I have combination skin and whenever I use Garnier White, my T-zone is very very oily! Normally my T-zone is slightly oily with my Body Shop moisturizer but with Garnier White, my T-zone gets oily twice as fast. (pore-clogging perhaps?)
In the end, I only use this product after I use the facial mask from Body Shop.
Honestly a disappointing purchase and I don't think I will purchase it again even if it is discounted. I do believe it would work better for people with normal to dry skin.

I bought a small jar to try it after I heard my cousin praising it so much. I didnt get it to get a more fair complexion as I believe I dont believe in such products. Im glad I didnt waste money on a big jar, because I dont like this moisturizer at all! I clogged my pores as result small whiteheads! And any product that is pore clogging is a big no for me. It feels oily, it doesnt absorb into skin, it stays on the skin along with white cast. White patches under my jawline! I just dont like it and will never buy it again.

My skin is oily and prone to acne. I bought this cream because I was excited about the idea to whiten and protect my skin from sun. But...in reality, this cream clogged my pores. I would not recommend it for a skin prone to pore clogging.

I used to like this product when I bought the small tube version but during the time, I only wear it occasionally. I decided to start using the moisturizer more frequently, so I hunted down a bigger version of it and was dissapointed to find that the only packaging available was in the jar which I find as hygienic because it goes under my nail sometimes. The price was reasonable price.
The smell is neutral. It's a thick cream which I find satisfying on my fingers. I find that as a whitening cream, this does work but slowly.
The initial reaction after wearing this and some makeup, "Hey, my face does look fairer". However, I start to wonder if it is because the lotion leaves a white lotion-like residue when applied causing your face to look "radiant". The moisturizer does not blend in to skin, even when I apply very little. and leave it on for 15 minutes before applying make up. It felt like wearing a foundation which I felt, defeats the purpose.
What's worst is that, it tend to ball up and leaving an even annoying residue. I have combination skin, this product actually make my faced shinier after a few hours. It felt heavy on my face even when I'm not wearing make up on my skin. I also noticed that it blocks my pores, causing acne on my chin and my nose areas.
I've stopped using this and my skin felt nicer. I definitely am not going to use this product again.

I needed a very moisturising mosturizer as my skin was very dry from the acne products I was using from my dermatologist. I was going to go for one from Nivea which I have repurchased twice and liked, but it wasen't oil free. I then considered this product as
1) I thought while moisturising my face, it can lighten it too.
2) Its suppose to be Singapore's best selling whitening cream as adverstised on the packaging.
3) I managed to locate a shop that was selling it for 40% off!
So, I bought the cream and have been using it for days now. I have observed the following:
It is OILY so I wouldn't recommand it for anyone who has oily skin. I have combination skin and wouldn't have liked this normally, but for my very dry skin now, this works well in moisturising it.
Its however OIL FREE though, I have read the ingrediants on the product before purchase.
I purchased in the pot version, and I understand some people have concerns about the hygiene, so I recommand the using of cotton buds when getting product out of the jar, I never use my fingers.
As for the whitening effects, I have yet to see it, I shall update on it at a later time.
Price- For 40% off its orginal price, I will repurchase, otherwise, I will give it a pass the next time.
Final Verdit- This product is more for drier skin conditions, and will probably not suit people with oily/combi skins.

I bought this product in the 20ml tube because i think it would be more sanitary than the pot. I dont like contaminating germs into my skin products so I think its better if a product comes in a tube or pump. Been using this product for quite ahwhile. This is the only product i've tried that didn't make me break out more cause i have oily skin and using moisturizer just aggravates my skin condition. However, this product really comes light and it easily penetrates into my skin. Except, don't apply it on your delicate eye area cause as it says in the packaging.

ive been using this for almost 3months maybe? its quite good. i like getting moisturizers that contains SPF coz im too lazy to use sunscreen and moisturizer seperately. and since im in asia, the weather here is quite sunny so i need my daily sun protection :) im using the fragrance-free version.
my face felt smoother after aweeks use. it does brighten up the skin tone abit. not too obvious but it does. also i noticed sloooowly my acne scars are fading. best part, it does not irritate my current acne or cause more breakout. no pore clogging. (i exfoliate everynight btw). my face does get oily after 5hours or so but thats not really a problem to me. but this product, eventhough face gets oily, it doesnt give me that ultra gross greasy look like other moisturizers. currently satisfied with this product!

The main purpose of this cream is to lighten your complexion, so yes it does do it's job. It does brighten your skin when you put it on but the long-term effects - although present - aren't significant. It spreads easily so you only need a teeny bit. I have a slight problem with it though, it leaves my skin greasy and my nose developed whiteheads and some pimples around my T-zone. I'm worried that this product is blocking my pores so I wouldn't repurchase it again. However I don't like discarding products without finishing them so from time to time I use it as a night moisturizer (on good skin days) and when I wake up in the morning, I'm glad to see my skin bright and glowing.
