Applicator: Rubber bristles. This style of applicator evenly coats your lashes, as well as define & separate enough during application that you don't need to comb afterwards. I haven't used a mascara with a traditional brush wand since I tried rubber bristles, as I find they just clump chunks of lashes together and require lots of combing to separate.

Easy to Hold: Yes. The grip on the wand isn't too fat or awkwardly shaped, and is made of a shiny plastic that isn't slippery so is easy to hold on to. The wand isn't as long and thin as some mascaras (eg Maybelline Define-A-Lash) so it's comfortable to use.

Easy to Use: Yes. The stopper in the tube scrapes off enough mascara so you don't end up with an applicator that is goopy with too much product and requires wiping or blotting. The applicator is slim enough that you can get right to the root of your lashes (both top and bottom) without accidentally smearing mascara on your eyelid, waterlines or lashlines. The tapered tip lets you get right to your tiny inner corner lashes, all of the bottom lashes, and coat any lashes that were missed at the outer corner. It is also very easy to scrape extra mascara off the tip so you don't weigh down your inner lashes.

Lashes Achieved: Defined & Volumised. A light application will darken & define your lashes with a little volume, a few more coats will add lots of volume. Doesn't add much length.

Buildable: Yes. You can apply several layers to build up extra definition or volume without clumping, spidery lashes, or too much mascara on the lash tips.

Holds a Curl: As it is waterproof, yes.

Flakes/Smudges: As it is waterproof, no. Though if your lashes get wet (tears, rain or swimming) you will lose the defined look and have clumpy chunks of lashes.

Formula/Consistency: Perfect - not too wet or dry. You can use the mascara straight away without having to wait a few days or weeks for it to dry out to a manageable consistency.

Perfect For: Makeup or mascara beginners; someone who wants a mascara that can give buildable volume; someone who needs a truly waterproof formula.

Recommended: YES.

I always come back to this mascara! It's the only one, high end or drugstore, that doesn't smudge under my eyes. And you can pile on coat after coat without waiting for each coat to dry. I am buying it on eBay now. Why did it have to be discontinued?

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. I used this for years before branching out and trying new products with good reviews on MUA. I pulled this back out of my makeup drawer this morning after months of using the others and I can't for the life of me remember why I was even looking for something different! I have naturally long lashes, but this mascara just makes them look so perfect. It's a true black, seperates my lashes, doesn't smudge or flake on me and keeps my curl all day. I was starting to think I was getting dark under eye circles, now I realize it was just smuding from the other mascaras I was trying. I will never stray again. Welcome back old friend!!

OMG!!! I grabbed this out of my Moms makeup bag this morning, just for a change of pace. I don't really know why I decided to do so, but I am glad I did!! I guess Mom knows best!

*Curl lasted perfectly all day long, I am truly impressed
*The semi-odd brush did an amazing job of separating and fanning out my lashes
*The formula glided on smoothly and I achieved beautiful definition with less effort than other mascaras

I admit, the volume and length were not "ultra dramatic", but... when I see eyelashes I envy, they are not usually fat, pitch black, and reaching eyebrow lengths. I envy lashes that are a defined, gorgeously perfect fan of separated, curled beauty that frames the eye. That is what I accomplished with this mascara today (and all day), and I am floored....!!!

My HG mascara! I have always used DiorShow Waterproof mascara but it has such a high price tag. This does almost exactly what DiorShow does but at an awesome price. Separates, volumizes, lengthens, holds curl. Only complaint kind of annoying to take off. I use avocado oil and it helps.

I have the most impossible lashes to curl on the planet, so i was very very happy to find that this held my curl beautifully. im not quite sure on the exact price because this was given to me, but im fairly certain it was very cheap. Also a plus, it did well in seperation and length. The brush was small and the brisles easily glided through my lashes. on the downside, the actaul waterproof-ness was not impressive. I wore this to the pool, and when i was done swimming, i found that i had nasty raccoon eyes that were difficult to remove. I also wore this in the shower, and the mascara had flaked off and my curl disappeared. Also, it is difficult to remove (I use neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover), and it flakes when in contact with water.

This is my favorite mascara. I absolutely love mascara and like to try new ones but I always come back to this. My lashes are pretty long but not thick and they are stick straight. This is one of the few mascaras I've found that holds my curl all day. It gives me great length and volume as well. I like that I can slap on a coat of this and run out the door with it still looking good or I can take my time and really build it up to where my lashes look fake. I hope Cover Girl never discontinues this because I will probably use this forever, unless "The One" comes along and sweeps me off my feet. The only bad thing about this is it smudges on my lower lashline when it's really hot and humid outside. If I'm wearing this, I use a different mascara on the bottom.

I love how this mascara made my eyelashes look. However, by the end of the day it was under my eyes making me look like a raccoon. It was such a disappointment, because I loved how it looked on me, but it didn't work well enough.

I tried this as a replacement to the beloved, discontinued Max Factor Volume Couture Waterproof. The formula is not EXACTLY the same as MFVCW, but only the last few ingredients differ slightly. The applicator is the same. I recently put this to the test, as I had stockpiled two tubes of the MFVCW. I wore MFVCW on one eye and CGVEW on the other. After wearing them all day, and sleeping through the night with the mascara on, and showering the next morning with it on, both mascaras had similar flaking. I repeated this test the next day, switching eyes, with similar results. So, this is really the best replacement for MFVCW! I wish it came with a spoolie applicator instead of the plastic brush applicator. I will now be checking all CG waterproof mascaras for the same formula with a spoolie applicator. I will say that any user must be aware that this mascara is the most difficult to remove, and must be removed with a mascara remover that is designed to remove waterproof mascara, such as Sonia Kashuk Remove from Target. : - )

I think I really would repurchase this mascara. I'm not terribly disappointed with it like I usually am with drugstore mascaras. I got this in black brown waterproof. It does take elbow grease to get this stuff off though. I used my aveda purifying gel to start the process then about 3 applications of eye makeup remover. But it is waterproof after all. I will try the regular formula next time to compare. I curled my lashes with my plastic thingamajig first (which I dont do often) then applied the mascara (at first I was put off by the weird brush but it turned out to apply evenly & nicely which was a surprise). By the end of the day my lashes were still curled & none of the mascara budged or flaked. I loathe when mascara flakes so this was awesome that it didnt especially since I wear contacts once in awhile. Overall I am pleasantly surprised by this mascara. Possible drugstore HG. My only real HG is Lancome Definicils but I just hate dishing out $20 for mascara.

I'm really iffy on this mascara. I ran out of my tube of Full n Soft waterproof, so decided to try this out (I've never used the "Exact" mascaras from CG, so decided to start with Volume Exact). It's definitely a good everyday mascara for girls who want a full fan of lashes everyday (like me). I really liked the brush, slightly angled, it gives good access to every lash.

The waterproof is also very long-lasting, always a plus. I do notice that it smudged a bit though, but no flakes so that was good. Also, I ran out of makeup remover and have to use cleansing wipes. Usually they get my mascara off fine but not this one! The formula left little clumps of mascara on my lashes after TWO wipes -- I didn't want to try to pull them off or force it off because, well, they're my lashes! So that was very frustrating. I'll probably try this mascara next time I'm at the waterpark and see if it lasts in the water.

This is my HG Mascara. I have this in the black-brown color and have repurchase 5 times. When I use this with my Shu-Uemura eye lash curler amazing things happen. I am asian and my eyelashes have a tendency to be straight and not curl. The combination of this with the Shu Uemura gives me a glamorous doll like look. Love it!

I bought this on a whim because:
1. it was in the clearance bin at ulta so it was $2 or less
2. I heard some people say that this mascara is similar to Mac Factor's volume couture which I really liked, but sadly is discontinued.
This mascara holds my curl all day which is awesome because I have straight asian lashes that point down. It also gives my lashes a lot of volume and they look fuller looking in addition to that it makes my lashes look 2x longer. The con that I don't like about this, it smudges! I apply this in the morning around 6 and go to school, around 10 or 11 I notice that I have some mascara smudges underneath my eye area. To this day I haven't found a mascara that hasn't smudged on me at all, so my search continues. Overall I do like this mascara, but it does smudge so I do have to do a bit of cleanup.

This is my everyday mascara. It doesn't give me volume its more of a defined look on me with this mascara. I have pin straight thin lashes. I use this with a curler and my lashes look great for the day or at night when I'm not looking for a big lash look.

So far this has not smudged or flaked on me and I've been using this for months. Definitely worth a try!

For the past year or so I had been hopelessly devoted to Max Factor's Volume Couture (WP) Mascara until I received the sad news that it was no longer being produced in the US. I stocked up on what little I could find left of it in stores, but decided that I also needed to find a permanent replacement to prepare for when my arsenal eventually ran out.

I first tried L'Oreal's Voluminous mascara after hearing and reading such rave reviews (not just on MUA, but also from people whom I spoke to in the cosmetic industry), but found that it was a grave disappointment (see my review on this product). Then, two MUAers were kind enough to tip me off to CG's Volume Exact (WP formula) just last week and ladies, I think I'm in love.

As reported by my fellow two MUAers, CG Volume Exact is produced by Proctor and Gamble (the same company that manufactured MF's Volume Couture) and was released around the same time, so it seemed probable that they would be similar formulations, just packaged under different brand names. I am happy to report that such seems to be the case. Just like MF's Volume Couture, CG Volume exact delivers long, defined, flirty lashes that hold a curl ALL day long with zero clumping and no smudging beneath the eyes. It provides the effect of false lashes, but in a more convenient, natural, day-to-day way.

Being a contact lens wearer who is prone to itchy, dry, watery eyes, it's important for me to use eye products that won't irritate me. So far I have not had any problems with CG Volume Exact, but since it's only been a week since I began using it, if that changes, I will definitely update this review.

To summarize, if you're a MF Volume Couture devotee on the lookout for a suitable (if not exact) replacement, Cover Girl Volume Exact (WP) may just be your answer.

I don't know why its rating is so low. I know, it's very very difficult to remove it. However, it's my HG. It gives me volume & length, and it doesn't smuge or irritate my eyes. And it's soooooo cheap. Before this, I always thought the Japanese macaras were best but now I don't wanna spend a penny on any Japanese mascaras anymore. Remove it with a good makeup cleansing oil or whatever and u will love it.

this mascara is really cheap in comparison to other mascras here in NZ, i got it on a by one get 1 half pirce promotion which means it was even cheaper. its a very good as it gave me a lot of volume n lenth without the clumps. dis means dat dis mascara is very easy to layer bcoz there isnt a lot of clumps at all. it is also very good to use on lower lashes so def a rebuy for me. However it is nt as good as colossal which is totally orgasmic!!!! so if u r goin 2 try a mascara, try colossal but dis one is a close second!

Since I don't wear mascara often, I needed something that would be dirt cheap but give me good results. Cover Girl's Volume Exact does just that. I was initially bewildered when I first bought it and the brush was outside of the mascara tube, which I thought was a very minor inconvienience to have to put it in yourself, but it's probably for obvious health/safety reasons I've overlooked. Anyways, when I first put it on, I was taken back at how nicely the mascara gave me good volume, and seperated my lashes at the same time. Though I needed to comb with a brush, it happens with all the mascaras I buy, so no big deal. I was also extremely glad about the price. Only $5.00 at my local walmart and compared to what I shelled out at sephora or SDM? This is awesome. The staying power-Good. I splashed my face vigourously with water a couple of hours after I put this on, and nothing came off. Surprised because usually my oily face will dislodge my mascara. All in all, if you want a waterproof, voluminizing mascara at a no-guilt price, VolumeExact is what you're looking for.
