I am a HUGE fan of Julie Hewett. HUGE!!! The products are always well pigmented and are so healthy! Those who like the natural stuff (Burts, etc.) have to try Julie Hewett's line of cosmetics.

The camellia oil/balm is a natural ingredient Julie uses in many of her cream/emoillant based products. It is a natural rehydrater of your skins oils and is a great ultra violet protector. I hate using a lot of things out of a pot (for hygienic reasons) but nothing weird ever grows or have grown in my 2 pots of camellia balm I own (one in nude and one in rose).

As a darker skin tone, the rose still complements my skin and lips. Its a light tint but makes your lips glow without looking too glossy or big. The nude I use on myself and everyone else for wrinkles, scars, rashes, etc. It controls hyperpigmentation and it also counteracts against some types of inflammation. The nude is multi-purpose all over balm. I grabbed my nude pot of camellia balm and placed it on a bad bumpy rash I had on my neck. It immediately soothed it faster than the Cortaid did and left the skin in that area feeling smooth after the rash went away.

Not to mention your lips will feel uber smooth even after a few days afterwards even with no use. The rose tint goes well over lipstick (especially pink colors) and can help tone down a bright red lipstick color.

This product beats many of the other natural or organic products out there because of their consistency. It goes on feeling really good on the lips or skin as it tends to absorb and your makeup doesn't feel awkward despite you looking very good!

I can't rave more about this panacea in a pot!

My only complaint about this is the lack of SPF. Other than that I love everything about it for daytime use. Gorgeous packaging, feels great on my lips, doesn't make them more dry and is perfect before applying lipstick.

I liked the idea of this being an organic lip balm. I use so much on my lips, I really wanted to switch to something more natural. The texture is thin, and really doesn't have much staying power. Also, it doesn't seem to make my lips any softer. The color selection is also disappointing. I bought the rose shade, thinking it was the safest (except the clear) and it is just BAD. The pink is an almost 80's frosty color on my lips. It is too expensive to toss, so I try to layer it over a lip pencil on apply it under another gloss. I won't repurchase.

The Cameilla Balm was for me a disappointment. It actually made my lips worse. Still, it takes care of blemishes and acne scars, love it!

I really love this balm. I use it every morning to prep for whatever lip product I'm wearing that day or just wear it alone. I is quite sheer and glossy and I love that. I have it in stick form which has lasted me 4+ months. When I run out I'm trying one of the tinted ones in pot form..I can't wait!

Product - A petrolatum-free blend of organic oils touted to save the lips and skin. The original shade, now called Natural, is a peachy orange colored balm which wears with no noticeable color or tint. Has a light, pleasant orange/citrus scent. Melts to an oil and spreads quickly on the skin, so be careful not to overapply. Feels very lightweight. Leaves a slight oily sheen on the skin, so I apply this only at night. I have to put something on my lips every night without fail or they revert back into a chapped peeling mess. Results are good - I saw noticeable improvement in the texture of my lips after just a few nights. I also use this on my cuticles and occasionally on my elbows or heels too - I see improvement in those areas too, though less dramatic due to the toughness of the skin there.

Packaging - Offered in a pot ($20), compact/pan ($18), and lipstick tube ($14) packaging. The pot gives the best value for your money. The stick is the most convenient if you're using this primarily on your lips. Now also available in Rose (pink tint) and Ruby (red tint).

Overall - I really like this as a lip treatment and not so much for other uses, so if/when I repurchase I will get the tube form.

UPDATE - Just a note that I have noticed some crystallization of the product (I have the pot form), which does not affect the effectiveness of the product, but the gritty feeling of the crystals (before they eventually melt from body heat) may bother some.

Thisis a pricy lip balm that didn't quite work for me. It goes on nicely, not too waxy, more like a soft oil, with a slight floral scent.. But my very dry lips felt a bit dryer afterwards. It's a very pale pink, but no color showed up on my lips. For the money I much prefer Fresh Rose Balm, which has SPF and is among my HG of moisturizing lip balms.

I love JH products. Have two palettes - cheekies are awesome (Favorites Nude, Peachie and also Bette) and Film Noir lippie - have two of these. But unfortunately this product dries my lips out. Just does. Wanted to love it, thought it would be awesome but not for me.

EDIT: I got a free organic tinted camellia lip balm when I placed another JH order. The color is beautiful. As a lip balm it is not very moisturizing but as an everyday lip color - it's very nice. So, I bumped the rating up one!

I have eczema on the corner of my mouth, and this is the one lip moisturizing product that I have used that has really helped. It hasn't healed it completely or completely cleared it up, but it's done the best of anything I've tried (Avene cold creme, burts bees, anything from the drugstore). Lansinoh at night when I've got cracks + this during the day - my lips have never looked better.

The smell is lovely and non-irritating. I highly reccomend this, in fact I bought a second as a back up.

Also, I put this on before using darker lipsticks and it reduces the flakiness at the corners of my mouth.

Found this drying on my face and lips, maybe I am using it wrong because of all the positive reviews. I would just pat a light layer on lips or dry patches and it made areas more dry.

This stuff is fabulous. I have this in the lipstick tube form, and plan on buying the pot with my next JH order. I am pretty picky about lip balms, I've been using the same tubes of Carmex and Weleda Everon balm for several years now. Camellia balm is downright miraculous in my book. Goes on lightweight with a satin texure, not too slippery and not waxy either. My lips have not been dry or peeling since I started using this. If you use a bit under lipstick and allow it to soak in for a minute, it makes a great primer. I was using MAC's Prep + Prime Lip (same price), but I by far prefer this. Go get some, you won't regret it.

This is a great multi-purpose balm. It's very lightweight, but still gives enough moisture for my lips. Great scent, no taste, not greasy at all. I also use this on my cuticles and it doesn't leave any greasy residue

Love, love, love this stuff. It's not heavy and smothering like so many lip products. It actually feels like it's doing good and not just hiding lip problems. And I agree it's a sensational cuticle product. It's great paired with JH fabulous lipsticks.

I went on a huge Julie Hewett kick a while back, and amassed quite a few of her products. I've always been a huge fan of balms, in particular, Bobbi Brown Soothing Face Balm, which has been sitting in my makeup drawer for going on three years now. The JH Camellia Balm sounded so yummy on the website, and I love multi-purpose products, so it seemed like a good idea to get one. I opted to get the pot, since I love to pat a bit of balm onto my cheeks after applying my blush, and didn't really need another portable (lip) balm stick. The texture of the Camellia Balm is quite thin. It's not runny or anything, but slippy, almost like a dense, smoother and thinner Vaseline. Though it doesn't have the heaviness Vaseline has. It's really quite a pleaseant texture. And one of the reasons I love to use it on my lips. It just glides on, it doesn't sit on top like a traditional thick balm. It's more fluid, not liquidy but very smooth. And it makes an excellent lipstick or gloss primer, as it's not so thick that it just sits there, and not so runny that it slides everywhere and interferes with lipstick or gloss. I think it's the light texture that I find misleading, since I do often pat a bit on my cheeks after blush, but because the formula is so soft and light, it doesn't stick around for the remainder of the day. I think my skin absorbs it. Same if I put it around my cuticles, it's like an invisible moisturizer. It feels nice and soothing, but it's not heavy in the least. I personally like my face balm to be dense and thick, but as a lip treatment, Camellia Balm really is stellar. It also has the prettiest scent, very soft sweet orange, almost tangerine. Nothing fake or cloying. I'd totally buy this product again, it's really very nice.
