I love Romeo. Smells like one of this sultry summer twilights, you know, the smell of fragrant magenta stocks, green grapes, honeysuckle, moths round about, mad crickets etc. Beautiful, sexy, sensual, deep and mysterious, like a dark, indigo velvet.

I have to say that while this is not my type of scent, it is very well done. To me, Romeo Gigli is a classic green floral scent that isn't overwhelming. It lasted a decent amount of time, with a pleasing note of jasmine. Unlike other classic scents, if there is oakmoss or galbanum it politely sits in the background without claiming center stage. Fantastic bottle!

The bottle is exquisite, an art production. The fragrance?... it is interesting. Romeo Gigli straddles between the orangeblossom family and the clovey/carnation family -- similar, in many ways, to the balancing act of White Shoulders. There's a warmed chypre underneath, and a flash of spice, which can become bitter and overpowering if oversprayed. I don't get the 80's association initially, but on drydown, if not worn judiciously, I can see how this could be headache in a bottle. Sprayed lightly, it is elegant, elusive, and quite lovely. The bottle is so exquisite that this could be a nice present, but only if offered with a warning to wear 1/2 as much or less than recipient usually uses. It isn't in the Norma Kamali Incense realm, but it is definately in the Opium EDP/Giorgio realm -- a light hand is imperative.

Received my sample today and i totally agree with ChristyleighAnkrom's review, smell sticky sweet floral, so 80's and tarty (not in a good way). it reminds of Ted Lapidus Creation and Giorgio Beverly hills.

I got a sample of this with a purchase and I must say it's really a nice light scent. I wear Amarige body veil as my 'all over' and just a dab of this behind each ear. Huggers always ask what I'm wearing! LOL!

I got a mini of the version that was discontinued. Can't say there's anything special about it. Not a bad scent but just boring. Smells like something from the 80s. The main reason I got it was for the bottle. Beautiful green with a top that swirls. Looks similar to a Hersey's Kiss as someone described. The bottle is a keeper but I can't say the scent would be.

This is a pretty, soft, very feminine scent. I wear it out at night with jeans and heels, it matches that vibe - casual, but too sweet and noticeable for day wear (to me). A soft, easy-to-wear floral, not a big, perfume-y scent. At the same time, not too young and silly, it's got enough chops to be elegant.

This smells close -- but sadly not close enough -- to a beloved d/c fragrance from the seventies -- Eau De Love. What can I say? To me, this is like hanging on a clothesline for three sunny days in April -- that fresh, that clean, that smile inducing. Not a serious fragrance, but a very happy one.

I was 19 when I first met this lovely little scent, working the perfume counter at a dept store over Xmas. How I adored it then, but never got around to repurchasing after my first bottle. Then a sweet MUAer sent me a sample of Callaghan Lilith, which is very similar (Callaghan being Gigli's fashion diffusion line and all...) and I screamed, "Romeo! Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo!" RG is different than Lilith in that it's almost more grownup and more serious, less fizzy and fun. It opens with a lovely harmonious accord of sunwarmed grass, rose, carnation, a small sweet just a touch tart berry, and a lovely suggestion of cedar. Then as it evolves, the rose deepens but never screams its presence, the woods become more pronounced, and the grass holds it all together in a fresh round accord. If it was a shape it would be a perfect circle, just round and smooth and even all over. It's plain gorgeous, never vulgar, and not your garden variety dept store floral. So imagine how much I appreciate the irony that when I first met Romeo, it was at a dept store fragrance counter... Life is funny, isn't it?

I purchased this about ten years ago, and quickly regretted it. Very strong, and WAY too sickly sweet. Headache in a pretty bottle.

I received my sample today after reading the reviews here. I know that fragrance is personal..and not everyone can like the same scent. That is the case for me with Romeo Gigli. Initially I liked it..so I doused myself with it..after about an hour I am ready to take a shower. To me it smells like a bad version for Giorgio Beverly hills. It has an 80's feel to it when I smell it...It's just too much...it's like big hair and 1 inch thick eyeliner...yuck. Sorry guys..but this scent is something I won't be purchasing again. Anyone wanna swap?? Lol

I first smelled this in Nordstrom back in March and loved it. It was among the few fragrances that I desired in my collection at the time. I recently noticed that it was on sale at Sephora so I purchased it. This is a very fresh scent and will be perfect when the weather's warmer.

(Review refers to RG scent introduced in 2003/slim, clear bottle - later referred to as "Profumi") This is a truly refreshing, sensual and beautifully-blended fragrance. The slightly sweet green tea note stands out at first, but eventually settles down to its perfect harmony with lotus flowers, vanilla and a touch of exotic fruit notes. Not even the slightest touch of sharpness, bitterness or cloying sweetness has ever developed on my skin from this scent. There's also a spray deodorant version available, but it's not a must-own item. It contains a stronger licorice note, but the scent disappears almost instantly on the skin. I made sure to re-purchase the EDP and lotion before they disappear from the shelves, as today's annoying, fickle department stores, unfortunately, only care about fads and huge advertising dollars, rather than scents this classy and unique.

I am so heartbroken! I got my RG in the mail yesterday without ever having smelled it. I bought it because of the great reviews here and prayed it would smell good. I opened it (cute little bottle) and sprayed it on and YUMMMMM!! But a few minutes later it dried down to a sort of pungent, rotten raspberry smell. To those of you fortunate enough to wear this, rest assured, you smell great when you wear it! This is one of the best smelling perfumes I've ever smelled. Too bad it changes on me.

I bought the original version in 1993 and it was my signature scent! I had repurchased so many times that I had lost count. When it was discontinued, my heart broke and honestly until now, I've not found another scent that I love as much.

I'm so happy to find a fragrance that I uneqivocally like! Of course, it's discontinued...but can still be found at various sites on the net.
Sweet fresh mango, woodsy-green notes over light incense....this is a lovely, refreshingly complex and somewhat unusual scent that I have enjoyed all day. Not too floral, not too sweet or cloying, but lovely, feminine and sweet.

First, there are actually 2 different fragrances that are named Romeo Gigli, one that came out in 1990 I believe, that came in a unique bottle shaped like a hershey's kiss with a frosted swirl in the pointed cap-this is the one all these reviews are referring to, I believe, which has since been discontinued. I did own it and enjoy wearing it-it was orange blossom based, warm and sort of oriental-ish. There is a newer fragrance by the same designer, also named Romeo Gigli, that I bought last summer in Nordtrom's, where I think it had exclusive distribution for a while. This is a citrus-y scent also, but with other notes giving it a fresh, watery quality, with a vanilla base. I don't generally like vanilla, but this latest Romeo Gigli incarnation I absolutely fell in love with. It is very fresh and light, without as much staying power as I would like, but if you get the lotion, that helps. Both are pricey, and it is now available at Sephora too. It comes in a clear bottle with a clear plastic stopper that is somewhat reminiscent of Estee Lauder's pleasures, inscribed with a sonnet from Romeo and Juliet. Very nice, fresh fragrance for summer.

Romeo Gigli I was dissappointed when they discontinued this one, however you can still find it. The bottle is pretty cool , the swirl like cap. The shape of the bottle is very unique. Men seem to love this one. Get's noticed , with lots of compliments. IMHO , it was a more casual fragrance (wore it with jeans ). On me I noted the woodsy/ moss/ fresh cut grass scent mixed with mag champa incense. HIPPIE SCENT!!!!! LOL Light fruity floral (smells like passion fruit or mango & jasmine ). It's a Winner!!!! I will probably buy this again . The price is moderate $35.00. It's worth it!!!!
