At First I was like Okay this might actually be a good drugstore primer for my super oily skin, but I spoke too soon. It might soak up oil but makes my makeup look a little cakey but the biggest problem is it makes it ball up, it makes anything you put on top of it completely un blendable.

I kinda get the bad reviews for this. Seeing as dries faster than Revlon Colorstay in a Nascar race, I get how this couldn't be everyone's favorite. I however, really like it.
I find that the best way to use this is in a small amount over a small area. I pat it in quickly and let it set. I don't use this as an all-over primer, just the areas where I get oily as the rest of my skin is very dry. I also add one of my favorite primers (either Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro 002 or NYX Photo Perfecting Primer) and it helps smooth out my skin and the Mattifying Make-up Base. This keeps me oil-free for several hours, and when it finally does give out, I'm left with a dewy look, which I like. I'd repurchase, but given how little I use, I don't think I'll have to for awhile.

I have only been using his for one day so I may have to update it later. I just had to say that I have very oily skin. 2-3 hours into my day and my skins is eating my makeup like acid. I put this stuff on and did my makeup at 6:45 am. At 1 pm I came back from lunch, looked at my face in the restroom expecting to have to do major touch up. I'd did not. I was barely showing any signs of oilies. I just dusted a little powder and went on my way. That is amazing.

I’ve only dipped my toe into the world of primers, but I’m strongly suspecting that silicone-based primers do not work for my skin. This stuff applies easily, and it works as far as keeping my skin not oily and making my makeup last longer. But the day or two after I’ve used it my skin breaks out like crazy. I still use it occasionally for very special occasions but it’s certainly not an everyday product for me.

Horrible product. I am extremely oily, and during the first 30 min this primer does mattify. However, after 2h I am more shiny than without any primer at all. I will say more, after 2 hours I am more shiny than if I had used a greasy moisturiser as a base! Do not buy this product, horrible.

At first I hated this product. It was pasty and thick and difficult to work with. But I've been able to make it work. I simply blend it with my moisturizer and pat it on. It works wonderfully now and though I'm not totally in love, it does the job. It keeps my notoriously oily skin from looking like an oil slick at the end of the day. It's the only primer I've found that actually keeps oil at bay from 7am-midnight.

when u first apply it , it feels like it is going to keep you matte. but it doesnt. it dries out so quickly so you should be very quick when applying it. also you cant apply anything rubbing with your fingers like liquid foundation on top of this primer as the primer rubs off your skin when applying anything else with fingers. i still look shiny after using that. it doesnt do any magic. wont buy it again. cheap and useless.

You are better off using some chalk on your skin. This product is one of the worst products that I have ever seen. It dries up the skin and it does not spread well. I tried it on my hand and my hand looked dry and weird. I used it on my face and I could not even tolerate it for a minute. If you are oily and want to use a primer, go for the gel kind. These white stuff will make your skin oilier and can clog your pores. A no no for me.

This product does what it claims, but it is incredibly difficult to work with. The product comes out of the tube like a thick paste---thicker than toothpaste and needs to be worked with in small sections. Too much rubbing or product in one area will cause it to ball up or become streaky, leaving you with patchy white areas. The best method I have found is to squeeze out a small amount and work between fingertips to warm up the product a bit, then pat on areas where you tend to get oily. Applying to other areas of the face may cause dryness by the end of the day.
While this product does control my oily t-zone, it does not fill in my nose pores quite as good as Revlon photoready perfecting primer. Blending foundation on top of this is a bit of a chore---not smooth and easy like other silicone primers. This has some "grip" to it.
I can't use this when in a rush as it just takes too many steps to achieve a natural look. This isnt worth the time to return (only cost me $5) but I would not repurchase or recommend to anyone. Putting on your face makeup should not take so much effort.

I'm surprised this product doesn't have positive reviews. I actually like this primer. It doesn't let my makeup soak in. It just sit on top of my skin, which btw you need to apply this a certain way or else it'll ball up. It's really matte and my makeup stays fine. I don't break out with this and makeup stays.

This was dry and cakey, very hard to smooth out no matter how I applied it or what I wore it under. After 3 hours my face looked pastey and makeup had kind of a cracked effect instead of smooth and matte. Despite washing thoroughly I broke out badly after.

I have a notorious oily skin, and for the first three hours, it did a good job in making my face looks matte. After that, i'm back being busy with my blot paper.
The texture is very thick and dries really fast on my face so i have to apply it on section by section, also it feels really thick instead of velvety smooth (made me feel like i'm wearing layers of foundation, when in fact i only wear tinted moisturizer).
Even though it didn't made my skin break, i would not recommend it for people with super oily skin like myself.

I believe this primer is breaking me out but I am not 100% sure. As for creating a smooth canvas for makeup, it is so-so. It did help my foundation spread better but it didn't completely mattify my face. Within two hours, oil broke through the foundation. It is relatively cheap and can be found at Target. I will try this one more time before I change the rank.

This is the first face primer I have tried so I really didn't know what to expect. I was surprised it was so thick and gritty feeling - but I think this is a good primer so far because I don't need to blot my face for excess oil as often as before and I apply a lot less blotting powder now. This primer doesn't go on smooth from the bottle - instead I put a dab in the palm of my hand and using my other hand, I dab little amounts all over my face and then gently smooth over. Like previous posters before me, it leaves a white residue in your hairline and hair, so be careful where you put this!
The price is good compared to other primers I have researched and since you don't need to use a lot of it, it lasts a long time... I got this for $14.00 CDN at Shoppers Drug Mart.
UPDATE: Pretty sure this stuff is making me break out on my forehead.

This is an incredible mattifying primer for under ten bucks. You also get a ton of product for that price.
It does tend to 'ball up' if you apply too much or if you don't blend it well enough. I have to apply in sections with my fingers (a brush won't work!!!) and quickly blend in. Avoid going too close to the hairline if you use it on your forehead because it will look flaky.
Never had a problem with applying my foundation over it, as long as you don't use a lot of product.
I wore this under my MAC foundation to a wedding in 95 degree humid weather and didn't have to blot even once. Amazing!

i wouldn't buy this product again. it's very chalky and dries to a horrible finish and foundation doesn't glide on after application. leaves a white paste like consistency on my face. not a very good makeup base and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Wow! I love this product! I have "mature" skin so I was a little worried with the reviews about it being drying and chalky.....but it works perfect for me! I still have oily skin even though I'm older and it controls the oil and helps tighten the skin and cover the fine lines! I used the Boots mousse makeup over it and my makeup stayed perfect all day! No touchups no creasing it stayed exactly as it was applied! That for me is a miracle! I'm going out to buy more so I'm sure to have it when I go to Greece! Thx Boots!

My face, especially my nose, gets EXTREMELY oily. This primer is the only thing that has stopped the oil and the shine. Though I wouldn't use it as a primer, since you can't apply it on your skin like a typical primer.
After I apply liquid foundation, I squeeze a tiny amount onto my two index fingers, rub them together, and pat the oiliest parts of my face. Then I apply loose powder like I normally would.
I also looove to use these on my eyes. This works wonderfully to stop my eye makeup from creasing. You have to be careful not to use too much, though, otherwise it'll leave dry, unwanted visible whiteness.
You can use this ONLY on oily parts. If you apply this to a part of your face that doesn't get oily, it will get unpleasantly dry. And yes, it is... a strange white consistency, but that's why you use just a tiny bit.
Unfortunately, it's only available at Target. That's not so bad since it takes quite a long time to get through one. Overall I am pleased with this product and will continue to buy it.

I got a generous sample of this at Target from a Boots rep.
I wanted to give this a try because I am super oily and the reviews said that it does mattify pretty well (which it does).
However, this product immediately broke me out and when I researched the ingredients, one of them was a 4 on the scale of 0 to 5 as far as causing acne. So I am glad I didn't spend $10 on it and stopped using it quickly.

I found this on clearance at Shopper's for $3! I have used it a few times and it smooths very well. I read all the reviews here once I got home. It works with my mineral make up and Smashbox Halo. Will update once I have used longer. I just use it on the lines and oily parts of my face and pat gently rather than rub. I am not sure if this is being discontinued, but I will see if they have more at another Shopper's! I bought the last one!
