This is a great fantastic product, same like the brunette expressions line, made my hair soft and manageable, also, dont be alarmed by the color it wont change your hair color, I colored my hair always brunette, and I was informed that the midnight expressions makes your hair more moisturized than the brunette line, I highly Love BOTH of these expressions lines, my hair feels softer, shinier and manageable, and BIG PLUS!!!!

Despite the poor reviews, I decided to purchase this (both the shampoo and the conditioner), and I'm glad to say that I do not regret it. While many have been underwhelmed by the results, I have found this line to do what it promises! It leaves my hair very soft, shiny, and full, and most importantly, it does leave it looking deeper and richer in color (this was my main goal). Overall, my hair's looking dark and lush. Love it!

Notes: Each and everyones hair is different. This product may not be right for you but it works for some people. Hope this helps
Pros
-It left my hair soft
-Also made it shinier
Cons
-Frizzy somedays
-Didn't really "enhance" hair colour
-Be careful with the conditioner bottle

Ugh, I'm glad I only got this as a sample...as far as I can tell it's no better than regular Pantene Pro V shampoo but I HATE the smell. It's awful and smells vaguely medicine-y for some reason.

My hair colour is dyed soft black, so I purchased this (without reading reviews here first...big mistake). The first week it made my hair soft, and shiny (combined with the shampoo), but by week 2 my hair felt heavy, dull, and kinda oily, I think it was the buildup. The conditioner is rather watery, has the stereotypical Pantene smell, but I don't believe that it "enhanced" my colour one bit.

Ew. I really wanted to like this stuff. I've been coloring my hair black for years and I blow + flat iron 2-3 times a week, so needless to say my hair is a frizzy, gross mess.
I tried the shampoo and conditioner and it left my hair totally frizzy and dull...and I think it smells weird. Definitely not pleasant.
I should have known better, Pantene is usually crap. Will not repurchase.

I purchased this when my hair was dyed black, thinking it would help extend the color & enhance the shine. It actually did the opposite. It did absolutely nothing for my hair, didn't condition, didn't hydrate, didn't shine it up---NOTHING! The pearly grey color of the conditioner was kind of useless, as it didn't deposit any color particles in my hair (as some other color extenders have been known to do) and now I'm just trying to find some poor shmuck with black hair to take this off my hands. And at $6.99/bottle I find it highly overpriced. Not worth it, imho.

I have used john frieda's brilliant brunette line and found it pretty nice (my hair is very dark brownish, even though I'm asian, but pretty close to black.. but I thought I'd give it a try anyways). I was wondering when the were going to have a line for black hair. There are so many people with black hair, it probably should have been out first. Then I saw this line and wanted to give it a try. At the time I had horrible frizzy, fried hair. It didn't help. After I grew my hair out and cut some of it off, I decided to try again. The results were pretty good. I got fairly nice smooth hair. It doesn't weigh down my hair, and it gives good moisture. I am satisfied with this purchase for the price.

This stuff is horrible! I was hoping that they'd make a John Frieda shampoo and conditioner for black hair, but since they haven't I decided to try this instead. I HATED IT after a week, and wasn't crazy about it to begin with. I'm not a huge fan of pantene products, but this one really takes the cake for worst drugstore shampoo and conditioner I have ever bought. The shampoo always leaves my hair feeling greasy and oily even after I've rinsed it very well. My hair's normal in texture, so that was weird, and I wasn't very happy. If that wasn't bad enough though, the conditioner made my ends FRIZZY and poofy. Suddenly my hair looked like it was in terrible condition, even after a week of no heat styling!! My hair isn't very damaged and I'm not prone to split ends, however I was convinced that my hair must've been subject to summer hair syndrome. Then I went to the salon and got a trim and a wash, and my hair looked WONDERFUL. I thought that maybe it was my hair and that the high-pressure rinser and trim were all I needed, but when I went back to pantene two days later, I had the same problem, with my freshly cut ends! I went out and bought the same redken products that my stylist used, and my hair is light and smooth. Now I know that it was these products, and not just my hair. Also, the smell isn't all that great, and whenever I'd put even a small amount of conditioner into my hair, it would break apart and end up all over my bathtub (the conditioner), and is difficult to clean up. I've never had that sort of problem with a conditioner before. It's cheap enough that you can try it and not be missing out, but I'd stay FAR away!

I actually really like this conditioner. The consistency is wonderful (very easy to spread over hair) and washes out easily yet still feels conditioned. A little goes a long way. The smell is interesting...very citrus (limes), and very strong! It doesn't really bother me but might bother those who are sensitive to fragrance (so 1 lippie off for that). The fragrance lingers in the hair after washing, but it isn't bad...it is actually nice. Never saw the black bits that a previous reviewer talked about, so maybe she got a bad batch. The conditioner's color is a dark gray though. After use, my hair feels soft to the touch and light, not weighed down. Also seemed to make my hair dry faster...strange. Would definitely repurchase.

This Shampoo and Conditioner looked very interesting since it is supposed to add to the beauty of black hair. Since Pantene has excellent products, I figured I'd give it a try. It was the only line of products that repaired my severely damaged hair when I over processed it several years ago. This stuff seemed like it would be exactly what I needed, since I color my hair blue black. I DO NOT recommend the conditioner, it leaves my hair frizzy as though I just walked in the door on a hot stormy night! My hair is not damaged, I definitely don't 'over do it' on my hair. I've learned that lesson a long time ago. THE ONLY OTHER SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER (besides Pantene Ice Shine) that I have tried that would not take the color right out of my hair and leave it sleek was the Suave Professionals line. It's excellent for black hair and while using that I only have to touch up my hair once every two months! I preferred Suave Awapuhi, since it was discontinued I have used Sleek and Smooth. I'm not crazy about the scent. I wanted something that smelled nicer, which is what I expected out of the Pantene Midnight Expressions line. I'm not so crazy about this one though.

I was suckered into this because it's the first shampoo I've ever seen marketed for black (esp asian) hair. I usually use Pantene conditioner anyway so I figured this would be good. However, this stuff is gritty! It comes with little black bits, and it doesn't leave my hair soft at all like my usual pantene, it was so bad that it made my hair feel awful after 2 weeks and I stopped using it! Now I just want to throw it away. What a waste of money...it was more expensive than the normal one too.

I have naturally very very dark brown hair, most would say black. This product is very moisturizing (like other Pantene conditioners I've used in the past), and my hair does seem to have some really nice darker and lighter shimmers since I've been using the shampoo and conditioner together. Definitely a great product!

I have thick, curly, highlighted hair, and this does a great job of leaving my hair feeling like silk! The scent is strong and lingers in my hair well into the following day. I'm not sure how to describe it, though, definitely not sweet. Color-wise, this doesn't deposit color but, like any shampoo designed for color-treated hair, it seems to be great at maintaining my highlights and low-lights. I said I'd re-purchase but I'm not entirely sure, because while the scent doesn't bother me, I'm not crazy about it. That's also why I took one point off.
