I bought this when I was looking for a non-shimmery eye shadow(I have enough shimmer for a lifetime). A duo of nice neutral, matte shades- exactly what I'd been looking for.
The dark shade is gorgeous- pigmented, close to matte, neutral yet dark enough to be dramatic if I applied really intensely. But the lighter shade? It doesn't show up at all. I'm sure it would show up on a fair-skinned individual, but since I'm tanned, it blends right in with my skin tone, and you can't tell I have it on. Oh, well. The darker shade makes up for it.
I would repurchase, just for the darker shade.

I love this.
First off, I have tried just about every single nude/everyday drugstore palette there is, everything from Maybelline to Revlon tto Almay Physcian's Formula, Covegirl. I've tried so many palettes/duos/trios, and I think I've finally found my HG!
I am quite fair, and this duo does really suit my skin tone, I use the light shade as a crease shade to add just a bit of definition, and then I use the darker shade and press it into the crease, while lining my eyes and setting my eyeshadow. What I really like about this is that I can also use this to contour my face! The lighter shade mixed with a little bit of the brown shade makes a perfect contour shade for me, and I sometimes do that for touch ups or when I'm in a hurry in the morning and can't be bothered to reach for another product.
It's pigmented, the colors are perfect for me, I love the cute little mirror that comes with it, and it's cheap! What more can you ask for?

The dark shadow in this duo is great. Nice pigment blends easily but the other shade is the same shade as my skin and is pointless and it hardly even shows up on me. I only use the dark shadow with other shadows. I could see people that have fair skin would like the lighter shade also. I wouldn't repurchase this only for the dark shade but if you have a fair complection and your looking for a non shimmery neutral look and find this on sale it would be a good deal since both shades would probably show up on you not just the darker one like me.

This product is pointless on me. The beige does not show up on my skin at all and my skin is not that dark (Mediterranean complexion, not tanned since it is wintertime). The dark brown is similar to every other dark brown but I can use it as a liner.

THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE MOST PIGMENTED DRUGSTORE EYESHADOW!!! Excellent color payoff, minimum fallout, interesting shade combinations. Even some higher end brands don't hold a candle to Loreal Hip shadows!!!

This is my go-to every day shadow. It complements my eyes perfectly. I put the lighter color under my lower lashes as well and it makes my eyes look bigger and brighter. I'm kind of in love with this duo. I can definitely see how this would be just average and comparable to many other products available, but for some reason these two colors are perfect for my skin tone and eyes. If I want to add a little shine I use the goldish-silver metallic in the Electrified duo in inner corners of my eye.

the very first eyeshadow ive completely used up. the lighter shade is barely touched though. it doesnt do much for me. the darker shade is amazing, ive been looking for a deep matte brown for a while now and i plan on stocking up when it goes on sale. perfect for everyday, its my go to shadow.

EDIT: still my alltime favorite brown shadow. i use daily and just found it at cvs for half off! i honesty use this more than my naked palette. def go out and buy this!!! even thought the lighter shade is useless, i would still gladly pay the same price for just the brown shade.

I am a CCC. This shade combo did nothing for me. The lighter shade disappears on me. In my opinion would not do anything for darker skin tones.

ETA: I now really enjoy this combo. It looks great for a more natural look. I have a darker complexion (think Halle Berry) and the lighter shade is difficult to see but it evens out my lids and the darker brown adds dimension to my lids. Really like these.

I love this so much, and I bought it on a whim! I'm usually not a huge fan of matte shades, but these two make the perfect natural looking brown smoky eye for daytime. The lighter brown is just the right colour to even out my lids and blend, I'm NC30 so it just looks like my skin, but if you're lighter than it would show up. Both colours are so wonderfully pigmented, it's amazing for the price. I actually bought it because the name "shady" reminded me of slim shady XD. Love this, love Eminem.

This is your basic neutral duo, with a matte taupe shade, and a satin chocolate brown. The almond shade works great on my skin tone as a an all-over shadow, especially when I don't want anything with shimmer or frost. However, that is all it is good for.

The brown shade works well on my crease, and blends easily with no fallout or streaking. My complaint is that over time, the satin appearance seems to fade and it begins to look greasy----and this is used with a primer.

I hate the bulky, mis-leading packaging, as it is damn near hollow with nothing but a miniature sponge tip applicator hidden below. I will not be shelling out another $9 CDN for this.

The only reason I would buy this product again would be because the lighter color in the duo happens to compliment my skin tone perfectly for use in the crease or on the lid. Otherwise, there really isn't anything too special about this duo to warrant it's price for such little product. The pans appear deep, but you find that it's not the case when you open the bottom up where the applicator is located and realize how shallow they actually are. The lighter color is a medium taupe with the slightest pink undertone, and the brown is a beautiful chocolate with also the slightest pink undertone. I do like that the shadows are very fine and smooth, making for little fall-out and ease with blending, though the lighter color is a bit harder to pick up. I can see how the lighter color may not show up on certain skin tones (it's matte, of course that would be the case with those whose skin is the exact same color), but the good thing is that both colors are well pigmented, especially the brown. The colors themselves are nothing ultra special, though, so unless you're looking for these EXACT colors for whatever reason, you may as well hunt for them elsewhere where you can find them cheaper and/or in larger quantity, for example in NYX shadows.

I actually love the light shade. I mostly use it in the crease before I put a darker color in there and it helps to blend it... and it's also great for blending out harsh edges. I think the lighter the skin you have, the better it shows up. As far as the darker side, I don't seem to reach for it often..it's almost too pigmented to use for everyday, but would work if you were going for a very smoked out look.

Blah. Boring, badly pigmented. the light color doesnt come off at all. the brown is smudgy. If you're going to spend about 8 CAD on a brown eyeshadow, just drop the 12 extra to go for an amazing one from MAC. It's your eyes, the windows to your soul!

Normally at my drugstore this product is about $8 Canadian or more, which is really expensive for a drugstore product this small. My sister bought this for for about $2 Canadian on sale because she knew I wanted some neutral brown shadows. I was honestly pretty disappointed in these shadows, the lighter colour doesn't show up at all, even when I use a primer. The darker colour is ok, though there's a lot of fallout. I like how there's a small compartment on the bottom for the applicator (even though I don't use it) but you can see how much you're actually getting for your money which isn't much. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone because there are better brown shadows out there and I will not repurchase.

Should have listen to the reviews on here. The lighter shade did not show up at all on my eyes...at first. As time went by it turned orange on me(yuck). The darker shade looks pretty close to Revlon's Matte eyeshadow in Rich Sable which I already have and love so I do not need another color just like it.I took this duo back to the store and think I'm going to avoid the rest of the ones I thought I wanted because I have bought several and hated them all except "Gunmetal"and honestly if it weren't for MAC's Greensmoke lustre shadow I would never use that duo.

I love this duo! Great for a simple, classic look. I use a light matte highlight, then the tan colour on the lid with the dark brown in the crease and blend it out well. Then I use a black brown liner and smudge it a bit, and use black volumizing mascara.

i think i my have just bought a lemon of these e/s, but my lighter shade in this duo is all cakey and dry. it's an ok color combo, i bought it for a nude eye. they are both matte shades, a little on the drab side. it's a taupey nude with light pigmentation, and a dark neutral brown. i would not repurchase this particular duo since i have colors that work better, but i do think that it would work for some people who want a neutral eye

This hip duo's are a hit or miss for me. I have about 4 or 5 of the bolder looking duo's so I wanted to get something more neutral that I could wear day to day. These are matte brown shades. The lighter one is really nothing special. It hardly even shows up on me. The darker shade is better, I may use it with other shadows as a crease color. I will probably keep using it just for a basic quick combination but it's nothing special. Perhaps they could have made the lighter matte shade with a little shimmer to give it some life. Overall, it's just OK.

the dark brown shadow is great. its pigmented but the other color is disappointing. i thought it would show up better but when i put it on i couldn't even see it. idk what happened but sucked . the packaging is annoying ! when i try to open the shadow part the bottom part opens up instead. its so hard to open. but i will consider buying a different color duo just because i've heard some good reviews on these... so we'll see.

I bought this duo because I needed neutral colors and they were on a BOGOF sale. I like it okay, but it's not the best. They are both matte. The lighter shade is a little darker than my skintone, so sometimes it looks strange. The darker shade is a really nice, pigmented brown that I love. It's very good in the crease, especially if you are doing a shimmery neutral lid and don't want extra shimmer for the crease. It's also excellent as a shadow liner. I use it almost everyday for work because it's not as extreme as black and it won't smudge with a base. I wouldn't buy it again though, just because I don't like the lighter color all that well.
EDIT: I take that back. Now that I'm a little more tan, the light color looks really great on me. Extra lip for you.
