Dry time was slow but I sort of expected that from the formula and amount of coats it took to apply (three). The real failure comes from the way it chips, even with Seche Vite as a top coat.

NW10-15 (neutral-cool toned, very fair), blue eyes, Color season is True Summer, Baumann Skin Type is OSPW.

This is a nice orange polish. I prefer other corals though, such as L'Oreal Tangerine Crush, Revlon Make Mine Mango, and Barielle Berry Go Round.

I forgot how much i really do like these nail polishes. This color is great, all year round. I hate having to put thought into my nails on somedays, I want something that i can throw on and know its not too much or seasonal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PRICE & AVAILABILITY ~~~~~~~~~~~~
The New York Color Cosmetics Long Wear Nail Enamel can be found in some drugstores like Rite Aid & CVS as well as some mass discount stores like KMart, Walmart & Target. The price is great, super cheap. These cost $1.. Yes one dollar thats why i collected almost every shade. I love nail polish & its cheap but it works good!
~~~~~~ SHADE & FORMULA & PERFORMANCE ~~~~~
The New York Color Long Wear Enamel is a great basic nail polish. Times Square Tangerine is a great color. Its a mid tone coral with a tangerine undertone. Its a great step from your basic red. This gives a nice pop of color to the nails. Yet its not too bright or shocking so it can be worn with any outfit. This is a great color year round but i esp reach for it during the spring and summer months. I dont like reds for some reason, i feel like they make me look paler but this is close enough for me. Its a great color. The performance on these polishes are great as well. I am rough on my hands so no matter what base/top coat i use, i dont get more than a few days out of any polish so these hold up with my China Glaze and OPI. They do chip easier but w/ a good base/top coat, they are good. I switch up my polish alot so i dont score these too low. These wear for around 4-5 days before chipping. Which works well for me. Times Square Tangerine #112 is a great fun color. I suggests using a base coat & then using one to two layers to enhance opacity. The color is pigmented but i like to ensure my nails are coated well which also helps with chipping. Not too much or too little. i have a few different polishes that seem to eat at my nails & make them brittle, these $1 polishes surprisingly have never done that. I dont have any problems w/ these. They also remove easily. Which is a major plus for me as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~ PACKAGING ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The New York Color Cosmetics Long Wearing Nail Enamels come in your standard hard glass bottle. They are see through allowing you to see the color inside. A plus, I always want to see what the polish looks like. There is black writing/labeling. The shade name is located under the NYC logo. Big enough so you can see. The ingredients & such are located on the back of the bottle. The lid & handle/brush is gray silver which twists on & off easily. No hassles opening or shutting. The brush is your basic. Nothing horrible or amazing. The brush picks up the enamel easily & allowing you to coat the nail easily. The formula also is thick but not too thick. The brush is decent. Just like those that cost alot more.
Overall, if you are looking for a nice basic coral orange color or are too afraid or sick of the reds, def give this a shot. If you are like me & like to switch up your polishes alot & dont want to spend a fortune on your polish collection, these are pretty great polishes i must say. I will and have repurchased these & will def pick up another Times Square Tangerine since its great year round! Really have enjoyed it!
If you are looking for a classic color that reminds you of the show "mad men" then I would recommend this color. Love the color on my toes and I couldn't pass it up for a buck. Love Love
I don't normally wear nail polish, but when I saw this while grocery shopping for only 60 cents, I decided to buy it. I put two coats and it lsok opaque and pretty nice bright orange. I am satisfied with this product nd would love to try another color from the line.
I bought this color last year and never got around to using it until recently when I saw displays of orange shades everywhere. It is suppose to be the in color this spring 2012. I have been on this kick where I change my nail color pretty much every 2 days or so just for fun. I do a neat & tidy yet somewhat quick two coats then slap on a coat of SV on top. I did a two coater of this in my dimly lit room then when I went out into the kitchen & noticed that it was not opaque with just the two coats. Bummer. I only have time and patience for polishes I can use in just one or two coats so I will not be buying this shade again and probably not anymore of the NYC line since they test on animals. (and the packaging isnt cute at all.)
i recently bought a few bottles of NYC nail polishes and this times square tangerine is one of them. despite my rather vast nail polish collection, I dont have a good orange and I wanted one for summer (yep I live in the Northern Hemisphere and it's summer here!). the colour is a creamy bright carrot-juice orange. the formula is creamy and dries fast. the polish is opaque in one coat but i put two on out of habit. the lasting power is great since it stayed on for nearly 5 days with only chips at the finger tips. I love it and will buy more NYC nail polish for sure to the dismay of my wallet lol!
This was my go-to orange for years. It's not the best formula (a little streaky, needs a few coats to get the right opaqueness), but for the price, it's certainly not bad. This shade of orange also looked great with my skin tone, very summery but not too loud.
STREAKY. This is a disappointment. This is neither creamy nor the pretty and smooth orange that it is advertised to be. I applied this to my toes and wiped it right off. It was obvious that this was going to take a good three coats to get the creamy effect that it advertises. I really don't think I will be purchasing anymore NYC nail polishes.
This is a great color and only cost .99 cent where I live. It bright against my dark skintone not traffic cone neon but not greyed out either just right. It applied evenly and super smooth it a cream finish and I needed two coats for it to be even. It a great all around color.
I only needed one coat for a nice opaque color, but I added another coat.
I am impressed with how smooth it looks. I just put it on, and I'm expecting to last a rather long time compared to other polishes, if I don't scratch it off myself. (I tend to play with my fingernails a lot.)
The color is not as it looks in the bottle. It is more of a red orange than a red. Remember Crayola crayon in scarlet? I'd say this polish is a scarlet.
Two coats of this and you have a bright and pigmented orange! Honestly, I never thought I'd wear neon orange on my nails until I tried this. I got this for only a dollar and the color and quality rival that of more expensive brands. With a base and top coat, this will last you a week with minimal chipping, but you can go without a base/top and still get pretty good wear. It isn't super long wearing, but for a dollar, I really don't mind.
Despite me anticipating that this color would be some kind of bright neon orange and well, it isn't - I am pretty much all about it anyway.
I picked this up on a whim because I needed to meet $10 to use my Ulta coupon. I would have to say that compared to the bottle – this translates into a more reddish tone on the nails, but it’s still an unmistakable eye-catching red orange. Not an orangey red or warm red, but a flat out red orange. Nothing day glo or neon about it so I guess this is possibly an office safe color, but again, it is pretty darn bright.
I’m not too familiar with N.Y.C. nailpolishes, but can I say that I’ve been wearing this for nearly a week (with base and top coat) and it has yet to chip! That’s kind of a whole new record because I’m not especially easy on my nails. Some minor cracking has occurred but it’s not discernible to the naked eye. I also used this as my pedicure and it’s still looking nearly brand new.
I think it only took two rather generous coats to attain maximum crème coverage. There’s absolutely no shimmer in this but it does take nicely to supreme glossiness with a good top coat.
I wish I had picked up this nailpolish during the summer or something, would’ve been so perfect for those months! Well there’s next year!
$.99 can’t be beat, especially for a superbly performing nailpolish.
I have compared this to neon orange polishes and it isn't neon bright but it is still quite bright
A creamy streakfree lucious orange colour - a dream on toenails in the summer!
Also lovely and cheap
I picked this up after hearing great things about N.Y.C. cosmetics so I figured I could try a few cheap things and if they didn't work, oh well! I LOVE this color. I have this on my toes right now. It's the perfect orange shade for spring and summer and it only took two coats which is great considering the price of this polish! I put "yes" for buying this product again, but I have honestly never finished a bottle of nail polish in my entire history of polishing my nails.
For me this is a matte bright orange. It's one of my absolute favorite nail polishes! It has no shimmer in it and comes out opaque and smooth on one stroke, although it can be a little thick and goopy. Looks great with multifaceted glitter pressed on top of it!
I love this color! It usually takes me about three coats to get it to the candy colored orange that I like. It can appear streaky, but applying several coats and a top coat helps a lot. However, I prefer Wet N' Wild version of this color, it is the same color, but on Wet N' Wild, the color shows up more than in the NYC version.
