I got this in a swap and I'm glad I did. I had been wanting to try red lipstick, and this is a great one. It looks great on fair skin. I feel comfortable wearing this in public and not feeling like I'm wearing too much makeup. I know some people said that had problems with dryness, but I actually thought the formula was quite creamy. I also like the packaging, it's so cute.

This is a beautiful color, aptly described by other reviewers as poppy red, or a playful bright red with a touch of pink coral. It applies easily, but other than that, the formula is pretty awful. It dries out terribly and leaves your lips parched and crackly. I've also tried plantlove lipstick in Yellowstone, and it wasn't nearly so bad, but unfortunately, the beautiful color Maria is a no buy.

This is the red lipstick that I've been looking for! I wanted a red lipstick and I had decided to try Chanel in Barcelona red because of all the great reviews it got. Unfortunately, it looked too dark on me and I realized I needed a brighter shade of red. I tried a lot of brands and they were either too orange, too pink, or too brown. Also, I am asian with medium skin and fairly full lips, so I needed a red lipstick that was sheer so I didn't look like a clown. This lipstick does the trick. It's very creamy, and its sheer, so you can layer it to get the saturation you want. The color does look very bright red in the tube, but because of its sheerness, it really doesn't make me look too scary. I think the packaging is cute and I like that it's eco-friendly. At $20, it is a bit pricey, but I would definately buy again.

I usually can't do red lip color in any variety. I'm fair skinned and I always think I look ridiculously waxy toned with red lips. For some reason, this works on me and is very flattering. I've seen this at Sephora and passed it by the last few times I've shopped there. It's gorgeously vivid and eye catching in the display, but I don't have Maria Menounas' coloring in any shape or form. But yesterday I was feeling daring and tried it on at Sephora and had to have it. It's like a beautifully playful poppy red. Not too deep, not brick red, not too orange, and not too pink. Perfect for my skin tone. It looks fresh and pretty and eye catching. The finish is more towards the sheer side....anything opaque would probably look overdone. I didn't think it was drying at all...it felt very creamy. Needless to say, the packaging is fantastic. I wish more m/u companies would strive towards environmentally friendly designs. Also, $2.00 of the purchase price goes to charity...so I think this was one of my better cosmetic purchases.

This didn't go on smoothly at all and it dried out my lips!! HATE IT!

I love this lipstick for summer. I almost didn't buy this because it looked like a scary tomato red in the tube which I usually never wear because I am too pale to pull this kind of shade off... However when I tried it on it looked like a bright red (not scary bright- but nice summery bright) with hint of pink/coral with no shimmer. It is really pigmented and to soften the color a bit I put a gloss over- I used Lorac Lava Flow Mocktail over it and it looked great! It is rather expensive ($20). The tube is cute. I haven't planted the box yet. For reference I'm blonde blue eyes Stila B/20 Watts/ BB Porcelain.
Update- I planted the box and nothing grew :\

When I first heard about the Cargo Plantlove lipstick shade designed by Maria Menounas, I checked Sephora online and sure enough - it was sold out. Weeks later, it's back in stock and is the lipstick featured on the Sephora homepage right now (go check it out while it's still up!). It's a gorgeous creamy red with a touch of coral. No shimmer. The color payoff is fabulous and flattering for my NC15 skin. However, this lipstick is a bit drying, which is why I am giving it 4 lippies instead of 5.
So why should you check out Maria lipstick? I'll be honest - I didn't buy this lipstick to save the environment or to spread wildflower seeds. Cargo Plantlove's Maria lipstick was what I thought the Limited Edition Lancome Behnaz Red would look like had I gotten my hands on it! (There's a review with a pic somewhere in Productville.) My search for a dupe is now over!!!!
A word of caution: Cute packaging, but I'm not sure if I can trust the recycled corn tube enough to toss this red shade in my purse, so I will be storing it carefully in a cosmetics bag.
UPDATE: Okay, as much I as loved this lipstick, it was just waaaaay too drying. Someone said it had castor oil in it? It dried out my lips and made them flake within an hour of application. Major disappointment. Changing the rating to 1 overall.
