When I first bought this I had tired something else (w/o knowing about this product) which was thicker and matte like. This looked more special and refined in its presentation and I like Sally Hanson products which even as a little girl seemed a little grocery but have found other stuff they have like nail polish better than other grocery store brands. I liked the retinol thing. So when I tried this, I wondered about the smell too. It also at first didn't work like the matte style and was more, if not very refined and light. It didn't match the matte like I said. It also didn't seem to fill in pores (at first), like I thought it would. So, I didn't use it for a while, but rememered how refined it was and through time when using foundation, that if you put a decent, fine, light moisturizer on first, particularily the nose, then the makeup doesn't get into the pores and protects it from the make up. This can be hard to find as lotions are oils, and etc...and eat away at the top layer of skin, and the best skin is untouched skin, like a childs. Anyway, the lotions i had were thick anyway and then tried this again, remembering it was light. I used this the other day, LET IT DRY first a little, gentley put makeup over top, went about my shopping, etc. What happened was !!!!....my skin got super refined and gleamy like flawless skin w/fine sheen on my nose and the skin texture is really excellent, vogue flawless like sheen...and just on my nose, as that is where I only put if, because I have been trying not to put makeup on my face, but hate pores, so only there when going out. I also don't over scrub or over clean my face, because it is not necessary (like child) ( be careful!) It is in to the second night w/leaving it alone. I went looking for my can to look this up to see what others thought and hoped they were still making it. I am about to take a shower and want to apply this all over my face now and neck. I have a problem w/dry skin, calcium in water film (real pain, hard to get soft face skin) and CAN't use ANY lotion I have ever found to put on face to keep from drying because they ALWAYS give me skin, mass (makeup poisoning they call it...not you, but gunk goes into skin and gets pimply, awful mess) but this stuff?!!!! OMG! I found a new face lotion to super refine my skin....had to tell my story so they'll keep making it!!!! If you have my problems, hate regular lotions, give this a chance and wait a day w/it...if there is something to be smelly about I really don't notice. I can't stand how people put perfumes in face creams, this NEVER bothered me at all w/irritated eyes or nose...so i'll never complain, nothing to complain about in the first place..others too pre-picky...like I said NEW FACIAL TONER PROTECTER AND "TRANSFORMER".....off to my shower...if this needs editing will do later or sorry, wrote alot, but what I thought. Another thing I thought I'd add...not sure if there is a drying out situation w/packaging, or keeping pure but because its a spray in a can I wondered if they could put it in a squeeze tip bottle so you don't lose any. Also, I also wondered if the 'can' spray idea also HELPED in its miraculous workings for refinement because I retried this other foam cleansing wash and skin was shinier too and refined, so maybe better in can spray still since 'it does the job' :) :) ......

I just tried this product today and my foundation went on smoother and lasted much longer than usual. I didn't touch up at all in the 10 hrs I had my make up on. I used mac studio fix moisturizer underneath it for the first time so I don't know if this any effect on it. Will update if it doesn't.

Aaaaahhhh! A stinky chemical spray that made my pores even larger! It's going back today.

The retinol in this product stings a little sometimes, but overall I was happy because this filled in my large pores & my makeup goes on much smoother after I put this on first. I didn't notice line smoothing exactly, I mostly just want primer to help disguise large pores that makeup by itself almost can seem to highlight. Would be better if it had SPF15 though.

I really like this product.. made my skin smooth and i did not break out. I like how i can spray it onto a sponge and apply it. I am oily and it kept my oil at bay for a couple hours which isnt too bad

This did nothing for me. I use MMU and I thought I would try this to see how it did with that. #1, I do not get the whole having to spray it out routine. They could have saved money on that feature. It comes out cold and kind of foamy. I rub my fingers in it and put it on my face. Nothing. No smoothing - just nothing. Nothing bad but nothing good, either. It may work for someone else, just did not work for me. I am putting mine on the swap list if you want to try it!

I like this product personally. I use it under a cream foundation and find that my foundation has more staying power when combined with the Sally Hansen Primer. After I apply this product and than touch my face, my face has a silky feel to it. Don't know if it neccessarily "smoothes lines" but heck its a good primer in itself. Would repurchase

Absolute crap. Why I picked this up on a whim I'll never know, but it's useless. The aerosol is annoying and squirts all over the place, including my clothes, the bathroom counter...everywhere but my hands. It feels cold upon application and then dissipates to nothing... where did it go? What does it do? I don't know. It's just lame and pointless. I can't wait to return it to Rite Aid and get my 7.99 back.

HORRIBLE. I bought this as my first crack at a foundation primer and WHAT A BAD MOVE. I tried it for two days and it was two days too long. It made every imperfection on my face stand out. It was very chemical-y and like the other reviewer said, it made my face makeup turn orange. Everytime I checked my makeup throughout the day, I was disgusted. Save your money and invest in something high-end.

Hoping this would be the perfect primer to keep my makeup from melting away and keep me somewhat oil free. It didn't. It did nothing for me. Makeup did not last any longer nor did it control oil. No flawless look. Nothing. Will not repurchase.

I tried this under everyday minerals mmu and it turned orange on my skin pretty much as soon as I brushed the foundation on. I does have some smoothing properties, but that doesn't do much good with an orange face. I also tried it under the Jane mmu and it also turned orange. I haven't tried it under liquid foundation, so it might not be effected.

I am dissappointed that I did not find this product to be all that at all. The aerosol spraying is completely unneccessary, and messy. I don't get it. My skin stung a lot after application, and after several days, I discontinued use because the red irritated patches were even showing under my concealer. I felt like it dried my skin, and almost made my fine lines more noticable. It does, however, keep make-up on all day as promised. And the price is very affordable. I may try using it again, since I still have content in the can, but most likely will not repurchase. I have dry skin, not oily, so maybe that's the catch.

this product was great for a primer and mattifier. however, it made me break out in cystic acne terribly. gave it a break for two weeks then tried again with same results. definitely can't use this.

Hi there, I am brand new to Makeup alley and this is my first review. I am also new to makeup primer and had gained a lot of insight from all the reviews on here so here I am adding one myself. I am sampling several primers now and this is the second one I tried. This product does help my makeup to stay on a LOT throughout the day and it also does help to smooth lines, particularly under my eyes, which was where I had the most trouble with my makeup staying put in the first place. I did not notice a change in my nose as far as shininess/oilies but I don't think it's gotten worse, so that's good. It has been less than one week of useage and no break outs but who knows how long it would take. I do feel a slight tingling sensation when I first put it on but it goes away asap. For the price, I would totally keep using this. I have samples on the way of some more expensive ones. I echo everyone else, shake very well. EDIT- One month later. This is the one I use the most of the ones I've tried (Tarte Clean Slate and Smashbox Photo Finish) My nose oilies are now less on the days I use this and I really notice it on these hot, humid Chicago summer days when my husband and I walk to the train and up the stairs. He is sweating and my face is dry! Woo! Still really like the flattening of the lines around my eyes and the way it stays on. No breakouts to speak of. I don't plan on trying others at this point since this is so affordable.

I was on the fence about this product as I LOVE smashbox primer. Here in SC it is HOT and HUMID. My smashbox seemed a little heavy for summer. I am a paramedic which means a lot of outside in the weather, melting. The Sally primer is lighter and drier than other primers I have used. But perfect under my Laura Mercier mineral foundation. Mineral foundation will sometimes stick to your primer and look blotchy. Leaving you to buff and buff until you have a even finish. This defeats the purpose of the quick easy application of mineral makeup. Sally's primer fills in pores and lays a smooth canvas on your skin. It took me a couple of times to get used to the difference in the feel. Its still silky and smooth but not that velvet feel that Smashbox gave. Smashbox is my favorite for cooler weather but for the humid days of summer this is a great product. I have LM silk finish foundation as well as the mineral, Sally primer works under both. As others have said you MUST shake well and let dry. 40's combo skin, pores

i used this over Clinique City Block Sheer and CARGO wet/dry foundation over that. I put it on at 7:00am and at 9:00pm I went to wash my face and couldn't believe it. My makeup looked perfect. My T-zone was matt and my blush was still there. Impossible you say? Try it for yourself

I received a free coupon for this primer so thought I would give it a try. I was nervous at first about break outs, as with any new product, but so far so good. It is very light, and it makes my skin look great. I don't use foundation much, but it works great over my moisturizer and under the concealer I dot under my eyes and over any blemishes. (so I'm sure it would look incredible under foundation) It is perfect for this time of year when you want a little bit of coverage, but don't need anything heavy. Not so crazy about the aerosol can, but I do think it has something to do with how light the product is. Will definitely purchase again if I continue to stay break out free.

Having tried a few primers over the last six months I have to say that I am very impressed with this one. No shimmer, does not affect make up application-sensible prce (although I receieved it in a swap!!) I do hate the aerosol application though, and I'm not sure why this is necessary. Will repurchase.
