Im on the bandwagon about this cheapie lipstick and im not a lipstick girl I much prefer a gloss but I have been trying to find a Red lipstick that will suit my undertone and not make my teeth look yellow when I apply it and this did the trick I came across it just browsing around in CVS I absolutely love it, I have dry lips and this is very moisturizing and apply so smooth and creamy. I even bought a back up just in case its discontinued. When ever the occasion calls for it I will have this in my beauty kit, I found on close inspection that it does have a little bit of sparkle in it.

I bought this because I wanted to try a red lipstick without spending too much. For the price aspect this was perfect - I paid just under 2$ for it, bargain! It is a smooth lipstick, which works better if you apply liner first (like most if not all reds) because without a liner it does have a tendacy to bleed. As it's so smooth it won't dry out your lips, and it feels great on - without being greasy or anything either which is nice. It does appear to have a slightly orange undertone to it. I tend to have sensitive lips which are very easily irritated by products but this lipstick was fine and caused no irritation whatsoever. The packaging could be better but hey, for around 2 dollars, who in their right mind would complain! Overall, a decent lipstick for a great price - if you're looking to get started with lipsticks or just try out a new colour then this could be the ideal starting point for you - a great way to experiment with colours/looks without spending a fortune.
I'll likely buy again just because it doesn't irritate my lips and it's good value.

This is a great lipstick for the price! I've been on the hunt for a red lipstick and currently this is my favorite. It's slightly on the orange side of what I want, but still works really well. It goes on nicely and seems to last for several hours. I recommend a lipliner to make it work the best. A bit of blotting can also help make it look classier.

This is a true, bright, fire truck red lipstick with no shimmer. It's just beautiful. Ultra Moist definitely describes its texture, it's so creamy. The packaging isn't the sturdiest, but the product inside makes up for it. The only con would be the smell: it smells like cheap plastic. But apart from that, I have nothing but good things to say about this lipstick. :)

The person who turned me on to this lippie said of red "Go big, or go home!" She was right! This is the ultimate red, serving as a dupe for Russian red by MAC, but better, because of the price!!! $1! Or when Rite Aid is having a sale, 60 cents! Unbelievable! Love, love this lippie.

The application is good, not waxy like NYC lipstick were when I was a kid. Great color; retro, but subdued (for a bold red, that is). Brown-based, rather than orange. Good pigmentation and doesn't smudge!

Red. Red red red. Very bright, highly pigmented red, only for those times when you REALLY MEAN RED.
That said, lots of fun. An almost perfect (certainly passable) match for the excellent Wet'n'Wild nail polish in Red A Good Book, for your budget retro-ing needs.
Semi-matte finish, comfortable to wear and not drying, seems to last pretty well -- after blotting, still as bright as it was before blotting, so I think you could even sip from a glass a few times and it wouldn't take much of a hit.
This is not as flattering to my fair, slightly yellow complexion and dark red hair as Sheer Red is, but I wear it when only the most vivid glowing red will do. It *will* get you noticed.

NW20 for reference. This is my HG red and it's $2. $2. $2. $2. $2. I don't wear reds during the day, but I adore "Mod Night" at a bar down the street and what a perfect 60s red this is! It stays on without reapplication through weekly 4 hour dancing/drinking (with a straw) sessions. The packaging is cheap (expected) and ugly as sin, but I can deal with that for the price.

I use to do theater and needed a cheap red for shows. For the price, it works and did the job. It rubs off fast and needs to be reapplied (what lipstick doesn't?). The color is a bit orangey also. Overall for the price its okay but I wont be repurchasing.

So I have been on a red lipstick mission, trying it out various from different companies and price points. I was looking for Sheer Red, but they just had this left.
Pros: Great pigmentation of a classic, bright red-orange, creamy, lasts decently on lips, the taste and smell are not that bad, price.
Cons: Pulls a little too orange on me in low/fluorescent lighting, smears a lot even into my teeth, packaging sucks since you can easily smear the plastic portion if you're not careful. The first time I wore this without lip liner and just balm underneath, it made my lips flake a bit. With a liner, it was better.
Recommended if you are new to lip sticks and want a cheap red. I like it, but I don't think I need to buy it again.

I swear I've reviewed this product already, but can't find my review so I'll do it again. I LOVE this lipstick! It's the perfect lipstick imho. What everyone says about this being an orangey-red is true, but I find that it's extremely flattering on my lips. Contrary to what others say, I find that this has great staying power, and I can eat and drink a full meal without fear that my lips have become a patchy mess. It doesn't dry my lips out like most other lipsticks, which means that I can wear it without gloss on top, and I think it looks best as a matte colour anyway. It was less than CDN$2 which is a steal for something of this quality! My only gripe would be the packaging: Since the tube doesn't go all the way down, there's a good chance of you slicing the lipstick if you have shaky hands, or if you put the cap on without paying attention. Nonetheless, I like the clear cap and being able to see the actual colour of the lipstick as opposed to just a shade sticker. I definitely recommend!
For those of you who have problems with the staying power, here's how I apply it: Apply a thin coat of lipbalm on your lips and let dry a little before applying the lipstick. This helps keeps your lips from feeling too dry as you wear the lipstick throughout the day, and it gives the colour a more "smooth" appearance on your lips. Then apply the lipstick slowly, molding out the shape that you desire. Since it's a bright red, you'll want to shape your lips well to prevent it from looking like fake wax lips. Apply several coats if you want a more intense colour. Then, brush translucent powder (or baby powder) over the lips. Don't be surprised if most of the powder disappears into the colour. Then once you've added powder over your entire lip area, apply one or two more coats of lipstick to finish it off.

On my dark pink pigmented lips, this is a light, very warm true red creme. Although I am warm-toned, I actually found it a bit too warm and bright for me. It's very creamy and moisturizing for a lipstick despite opaque coverage in one stroke, but also not very lasting - it came off just drinking a glass of juice. It has a typical waxy "lipstick" smell mixed with a hint of fruitiness, which I like. The big minus for this product is the packaging - it's almost impossible to get the cap off without scraping the bullet, and the bullet is loose and rattly in the tube. This line would be a good bet for people who like to depot l/s into palettes.

I love Retro Red. Great true red color; great moisturizing lipstick, highly pigmented and with good stamina; and best of all, fabulous price. The packaging is totally cheap though, so I freeze the lipstick and put it in a vintage metal tube.

Everyone knows how hard it is to find a good red lipstick, but this one is awesome! Its a bright darkish red, I love that it is so red and not orangey like lots of red lipsticks turn out. It's a dollar, its retro, its smooth, and its lovely.

Okay, so: this is exactly what it claims to be, and exactly what you'd expect. A lot of the negative reviews on here just flat out don't make sense.. "Isn't long-wearing" - well, yeah. It's a TWO DOLLAR LIPSTICK!! And also, it's "ultra moist", which indicates right there that it's going to be moist, but not have great staying power, as that's only something that drier lipsticks can really claim. And the fact that it's "bright bright red" - well, yeah. That's the shade. Ugh. Y'all are pissing me off!!
Look, it's a bright, bright, gorgeous red, it's definitely "ultra moist", and for two bucks, it gets the job done. Not sure what anyone was expecting, but I, for one, love it.

This is why mua rocks. I remembered that some lipsticks from NYC are highly lauded here, so i picked this up at walmart. 2 cndn dollars only! Was afraid it would be too bright/ugly/unflattering but the opposite is true! Cheap awesomeness! Colour is beautiful lit-from-within red that will make you glow. Did not experience bleeding or poor staying power even without lipliner--until i made wudhu that is (the five times a day ritual washing that muslims must perform)... That's when there was almost imperceptible bleeding near the edge... However... With lipliner (which is a must with bright red lipstick anyway) this is perfection. Highly recommend and don't really mind packaging... If worst comes to worst, i can 'depot' and microwave it and stick it in a little empty mints tin :)

If you couldn't tell by my username, I love retro glam and vintage styles/ makeup, and have been looking for a perfect pinup shade of red for a while. This is it!!! This is a really nice orange based red, but the orange is not overpowering. It's matte and is probably better off without gloss over it if you really want the look. It goes on smoothly and isnt drying, bit i havent found it super moisturizing either. The packaging is pretty bad, and I'm afraid if I put it in my bag it will die, so be careful. The tricky thing is is that it doesn't have the longest staying power in the world, so you need to carry it around for touch ups, which is hard to do if your afraid of it breaking. Someone mentioned earlier that it whitened your teeth, but sadly it did no such thing fir me. It didn't make them look yellow, by any means, but it didn't enhance them either. It does have a fake fruity sent, and smudges a tad, but its under a dollar, and the color is so absolutely gorgeous that I don't mind at all. Will deffinately repurchase once it runs out! I plan on trying the other colors in this line as well

i really wanted to like this 99 cent lipstick, but really...
the smell is horrible, like a fake fruity, plastic scent. kinda like kids' play makeup. the bullet doesn't screw all the way down so watch out in case you scrape it with the cap. the shade was soooo bright and red. i liked the way it felt on my lips, but i would never ever wear it during the day time.
i wouldn't recommend retro red, unless you like extremely bright, orangey red shades.
