At first, I thought this was my HG moisturizer. However, once fall rolled around, I realized this is not heavy enough on the moisturizing side. I have combo skin but I can get pretty dry in the fall/winter months. This doesn't cut it during that time. But it's a good summer moisturizer, especially here in TX where we have many days over 100 degrees. It's light and doesn't make me greasy, even in T-zone. But it also doesn't do great around my really dry areas.
It's not more of a secondary moisturizer. (I just discovered CeraVe!)
I'd recommend this for oily skin.

i have combo skin and prone to cystic acne (hormonal). sometimes my skin is chapped and dry and sometimes its moderately oily (nothing a light dap with napkin can't solve).

when i first bought this product i kind of liked it. although my skin still felt dry, my skin looked more even toned and looked healthier and softer as soon as i applied it. i wore it indoors for a few days.

when i tried it with liquid foundation (mac) the tone looked weird and the texture was off.

when i tried it outdoors i looked a little ghostly. and after a few minutes i was really oily. i carry a pack of oil blot sheets and hadn't opened them since i purchased them months ago. BUT when i wore this outside i used nearly the whole pack! but i still felt my skin was dry! ugh...

i really wanted to love this product but its just not for me.

i'll keep trying it with different products to see if i can find a good combination to make it work.

Unexceptional. Runny, doesn't absorb well into my skin. I bought this because it had some SPF and I love the Alpha Hydrox brand, but I burned a little on a really hot, sunny day. This is weird. I have dark skin. I never burn.

The pump doesn't let you get at about one quarter of the bottle's content.

My skin is oily, but it is usually less oily when I use the right amount of moisturizer. This didn't help. It made my foundation slick.

For combination, oily skin types: BEWARE!!!!!!!
This moisturizer is extremely heavy in the summer (winter months may be ok) but (for me anyway) it made me extremely oily, makes makeup lift and run and I was extremely shiny the whole day. It's awful and will never purchase again! I believe that this is more so for those with drier skin types.

It even weighs your face down. It's terrible!!

I read a lot of good reviews on this product, so I decided I'd give it a try. It worked fine during winter time but if you apply too much it makes you look white (ghost like). I have oily skin and it didn't make my face oiler but it did not control the oil either. It feels a little too sticky/heavy during summer time. Not the best moisturizer, irritated my eyes horribly... :/

This is in my holy grail category of products. This actually is nothing like a moisturizer but more like an SPF lotion, smells and spreads like a physical sunscreen. this is great it makes my skin matte and doesnt break me out, its hard to find a SPF lotion for my super oily acneic skin. Many spf lotions do not leave my skin matte. I recommend this for people with uber oily skin only. I also have sensitive skin and this gentle enough to use hydrate and protect. It also doesnt irritate my eyes which is great. I do really wish they come out with a spf 30 formula, 15 is not enough. Im still searching for a product just like this sheer silk but with a higher SPF. I need something super matte but spreadable/blendable. Any suggestions? UPDATE: I absolutely love this stuff this is the only spf lotion i have used that actually keeps my skin MATTE and non-greasy. 99% of sunscreens make me too shiny. This is a god send for my oily skin.

I love the light texture. It's lightly moisturizing - not heavy at all. I may want something heavier in winter, but summer's just around the corner and this is perfect. It neither feels nor smells like a traditional sunscreen. It does take a minute or two to fully absorb, but that's not a big deal to my routine. I wish it had a higher SPF but 15 is good enough for my everyday. The price can't be beat and the online customer service is wonderful. I don't know if I'd say this is my HG, but it's a very worthy product. I'm about halfway through my first container of this and I WILL be buying it again.

Update 6/13/2011: Well, it's not quite as great as I thought. It's still a very good product, but it's not agreeing with my skin as the weather gets warmer. I find myself getting greasy in the afternoons and my pores clog more easily. This does have myristates in it, which aren't a good match for my skin. It's still a very good lightweight moisturizer with SPF and it worked well for me this spring. It'll probably be a good choice for fall as well. It's just not going to be my first choice for the heat of the summer.

I really like this! I would prefer my moisturizer in a tube instead of a pump, since it's easier to get the last bits of it out. I'm not a bacteria nazi.
This is great for my oily skin. It leaves a matte finish with just a bit of a gleam to it. I recommend for oily skin.

This is really a nice physical sunscreen. It leaves my skin matte and rubs in well. The smell is a bit artificial, but it doesn't bother me. Also, this does not irritate my sensitive skin. After a week of using this I do find that it's a tad (really just a tad) drying.

This and the Equate SPF 15 for sensitive skin are my favorite sunscreens that are under 30 SPF.

LOVE!

(i have acne prone skin - mostly in the hormonal areas like chin, but when i stick to my routine i can keep it clear. i also have oily skin.)

i used this moisturizer over a year ago but at the time i was using other alpha hydrox products like their souffle. it all turned out to be too much for my skin. so i went completely back to basics. only gentle unmedicated cleanser & moisturizer.

once i got my skin back under control i just completely forgot about this! i usually use borghese moisturizer which i love for the winter & one morning the pump broke! i was freaking out because i have very finicky skin. i went to my mom bathroom & found this.. it was my only option so i used it. since i have to order my borghese online i knew i would be using the alpha hydrox for at least a few days.

by day 2-3 i noticed my skin was looking better than before! & it wasn't near as oily in the day. it helped to control the oilies on my nose overall, my pores began to look cleaner. my face just felt more balanced. to make a long story short i never got more borghese - i ordered the alpha hydrox instead!

i use it only in the day. (i use retin-a at night) i doesn't feel like it provides TONS of moisture when you first apply it, but it really does keep my face balanced. it's helped inprove my skins tone & texture. it absorbs quickly & my make-up goes on well over it. in the middle of the winter i anticipate i might not be able to use it. (but i live in san diego so that won't last long.)

LOVE the spf, LOVE the pump.

Over the past 3 months I revamped my skin regime to include ALPHA HYDROX products and this is one of them.

The moisturizer is light, easily absorbed and my make-up glides on over it and because it has SPF, it's one less layer I have to slather on.

My face has been glowing, I would definitely buy this range again.

When I ordered the range online from Neoteric Cosmetics they threw in an extra moisturizer which I thrilled about.

I hate to admit, I know I should moisturize but I really hate to. The ONLY moisturizer I have ever liked it the Philosophy Hope in a Jar for sensitive skin. I have always felt it has some magic ingredients that kept me from breaking out and kept me non-greasy/non-oily. This is a cheap alternative for me. I do like the price. I have discoverd it seems to be the only moisturizer with SPF that does not break me out. The dermatologist has assured me that SPF should not break me out, but I am not sold on that fact. So far, at 5 days, I have no new breakouts. AND, I am getting the SPF protection which is a bonus!

I have combination, very sensitive, redness prone skin that hates a lot of thing. I just finished my first bottle of this and I am going to buy another. This will be the first facial moisturizer that I have ever repurchased. I love the way it keeps my skin clear and moisturized just enough - I don't need a lot of moisture. I would have given it 5 stars but now that we are getting into winter, I actually think I need a little bit more moisture. I haven't had a single breakout since using this and I love that I'm getting some spf with it.

I bought this some time ago, had it in the bathroom drawer. I don't know why I stopped using it. It is a little thick and takes a bit for it
to absorb into the skin. I've been using it just around my eye area during the day, and using it on my full face at night. I haven't used it under make up, fearing it would be too oily. I just purchase the oil-free gel, I will use under make up. I'm really pleased with Alpha Hydrox products, they do more than just moisturize- my skin is smoother and brighter, with pore size less noticeable.

I love this stuff! I'm a user of the entire alpha hydroxy line and I love this daily moisturizer. First of all it doesn't break me out, which is a miracle. It feels very light and silky going on and doesn't leave a white cast. It doesn't flake off later either when I put on my MMU. It's the best daily moisturizer with SPF I've found. It also has lactic acid which is a gentle exfoliator that I love. I'm thrilled!

I bought like 4 of them so i just want them to be gone so im just using them so that i can buy something better for my face. I dont recommend this product.

I'm in the middle with this one. I've been on the hunt for a good, hydrating moisturizer that has enough spf in it but also doesn't change the color of my foundation. This moisturizer does a well enough job, but I feel like it could be better. Sometimes it feels a little too thick when applying, and I have to give it time to soak in before applying my foundation. The good thing is that it doesn't change the tone of my foundation or makeup. Although by mid-day my face feels a little oilier than usual when I use it. Definitely has that 'sunblock' texture to it. I'm a fan of Alpha Hydrox, but because I'm on the fence, I think I'll keep looking for a good moisturizer. The good thing about this moisturizer is that it didn't break me out.

I love this product. I use other products (mostly from Alpha Hydrox's line) that have harsh ingrediants like Retinol or Acids so I need something for moisture and SPF daily. This does not break me out at all, and is quite light weight. It seems to deliver a luminescent effect on my skin which i really love... my only gripe is the packaging. I bought mine from ULTA and opened it up in the car only to find that the tube that sucks the products up to the pump was missing. The ULTA is 1 hour away from me so I ended up just removing the top and putting it in my hands...I like the pump idea, if I had one that worked :)

otherwise, there is not that much product, but it is so wonderful I don't mind and will buy again.

I have tried other Alpha Hydrox products, with good results. I tried the Nourishing Cleanser in conjunction with the 10% Gel, and now I am trying the Foaming Cleanser because it seemed the combination of those products was a bit drying on especially dry weather days. However, THIS LOTION I didn't like too much. It didn't clog my pores or make me break out, and it did its job of moisturizing, but on my oily-prone skin it seemed to just .. sit. It felt very heavy. On days where I did not wear makeup on top of everything I would feel my face become oily. When I scratched my face, there would be white gunk under my nails, showing that the lotion just.... sat there, and it made me look chalky and a little blanched. I think it's too cakey for me.

Excellent moisturizer for my combination skin: light and non-greasy, without the "spackling compound" quality that so many sunscreens have. As another reviewer noted, the packaging can be a problem: the pump stops working. BUT I contacted the company, and here's the useful reply I received in less than 24 hours:

"We are planning to put the Sheer Silk Moisturizer in a tube in the future. In the meantime, the easiest way I have discovered to get the moisturizer to begin to pump without priming it for a while is to remove the silver bottom and push up on the inside to remove all air bubbles. Once the moisturizer starts dispensing, replace the silver bottom and you should be set."

I tried this, and it does work. Bottom line: Great product, very responsive company.
