I had been eying this product for months and finally tested it in Sephora (sounds gross - the girl who was helping me cut the top and sterilised the product first). Once it was on, it worked, but I was not impressed enough to pay $20 for it so I left it behind and went out for a girls night.

Let me tell you, I am the oldest of the group of girls I was with by at least 5 years and was the only one who got carded. The rest of the night I was swarmed with guys and could not figure out what was going on with me - I was wearing a plain t-shirt and jeans to the other girls' much cuter outfits. As I washed my hands in the bathroom, I looked up and was a little taken aback by how fresh and pretty my eyes looked. I work crazy hours and have a packed schedule so I am almost always sleep deprived and this was the first time in a long time you could not tell. I looked closer and the product was still on my inner rims - 6 HOURS later.... amazing because I stopped wearing waterproof black eyeliner on my inner rims years ago because within 20 minutes of application I had terrible racoon eyes no matter what I tried (where the waterproof eyeliner kicked in ...meaning PANDA EYES ALL DAY)..

Whether this works well for you may depend on your coloring. I'm olivey/tanned and this nude popped on me while looking natural, but I can see how it might not do much for someone with already very light inner eye rims for example. For me? I'll be going back for this.

I have the Inner Rim Brightener. It's a nice nude color that disguises the redness in my waterline, especially early in the morning. It goes on smooth and the color is perfect, I just wish the staying power was better. It does last longer than any other similar brightening liners I've tried. All in all I'm pretty happy with it and use it daily.

I needed to try something new due to my sensitive eyes. I bought this and really regretted it. I returned it to Ulta. It was very dry going on and then it was gone in a couple of hours. Also, it didn't make my eyes feel any better. I will keep searching.

It's a good concept, because I always put my liner on the inner rim, but this product has not worked at all for me. I got mine in brown, and it barely shows up, plus has zero staying power. Overall a pointless and expensive failed experiment.

The staying power is horrible, it's too dry, it doesn't apply dark enough, it's runs in about an hour. I love how skinny it is, and that you don't have to sharpen it, now all they have to do is make a better product to put in the wonderful packaging. Very disappointed will never repurchase.

I use the Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener. It's a nude liner that I use on my waterline. I have small Asian eyes that look even smaller behind my coke-bottle glasses so I'd been looking for a long lasting white liner for the waterline. I was tired of reading reviews so I just went to a retailer and asked what the clerks would recommend. They took me to this product to test it out. What I loved instantly is how creamy this is, allowing it to glide on almost effortlessly and the nude color is more natural-looking than using white liner. I decided to buy it and went about my day. To my surprise, when I returned home hours later, my eyes still looked fresh and big. I was only going to use this when I wear my glasses but I love it so much that I wear it when I wear my contacts too. At first, I was worried that applying it to my waterline while wearing my contacts would be a bad idea. It stays in place and doesn't bleed or flake into my eye so I'm really pleased. Will definitely buy this product again.

It's a crumbly mess. For an "inner rim eye pencil," it sure doesn't live up to its name. I'm worried when it crumbles too close to my eye that it will break off into my eye and cause irritation. Plus, it's not too waterproof. I find myself reapplying this (or something of better quality) within thirty minutes to an hour of using it. It's only redeeming quality is the shape of the pencil. I love the design and the concept of the "clicker" and I've found that if you don't put too much product in the end piece, it works out okay. Still, I'm not using it too much and it's about to meet its expiration date. I think I'm sticking to other pencils for now.

This review is on the inner rim brightener. I found it to be hard to work with, crumbly, and unnatural looking. It didn't brighten my eyes, just made it look like i drew pink marker on my waterline. I added a picture to show. Also, When I wound it up to see how much was in there, it broke while I was winding it back down, and I never even touched it!

Glad that I got this for free. Its texture is really bad, very crumbly. Impossible to use it on top lid or waterline. Gave it two lippies becasue I still can use it on my lower lash line with care, otherwise it still breaks and crumbles easily. I will not pay for it.

I went into Ulta trying to get Tarte EmphasEYES for my eyebrows, but thought I couldn't find my color (little did I know there was only one shade) so I picked this up in Chocolate. Not knowing it was eyeliner I used it to fill my brows, and I was surprisingly in love! This does not have any red and it matches my eyebrows perfectly. Another plus is that it stays put, it does not smudge. I have worn this out dancing with my friends and I have worn it outside in high humidity. The tip is thin so it's easy to do soft, small, realistic strokes, I think using the twist up liners are much better than using a pencil because you can be more precise, so it doesn't look like I sharpied on brows.

Well, after I realized it was eyeliner for the inner rim I was psyched because I line the inner rims of my eyes whenever I want a dramatic look. When I applied this it hurt my eyes and I could barely even see it. It was one hundred percent off within 20 minutes. So if any of you bought this and hated it and don't have a recipt, try it on your brows.

For a brow pencil I give this a 4.5, but for it's actual purpose as an inner rim eyeliner I would give it a 1, so that is why I gave this 3 lippies. I would ONLY buy this again for my brows.

EDIT: Had to change the rating. While this looks amazing on my eyebrows it does smudge a bit. I need something that last for the entire day, even after the gym. The best I've found is MAC in Spiked, it's the same color and has a skinny tip and lasts longer

SO I bought this yesterday at Sephora, and I was really anxious to try it out. Well I did, and it is horrible.
The eyeliner keeps breaking and it scratched my eyes. I applied it to my inner rim, and it doesn't show up at all! I'm so disappointed in this eyeliner. The only thing I'll be looking forward to is returning it!

I love the Tarte Emphas Eyes Inner Lid Brightner in Nude.

I wears really well for the inner water line. It doesn't come off and it doesn't irritate. It brigtens the eyes.

I notice I can use it for lining the outside of the mouth to improve the lip line and also to fill in crease lines very accurately to lighten and camophlage them before adding foundation. It is even a great spot blemish treatment.

Great Product!

I received this black, inner rim liner as part of a Sophora VIB perk and I don't like it. It's dry and crumbly, as others have mentioned, and I'm just not impressed with this at all.

I got the Tarte Inner Rim Brightener a week ago and have used it every day since. It's a nude peachy tone that's not frosty and is less obvious than most of the white pencils I usually use on my waterline (like Ulta Yeyo, NYX Milk, WnW White kohl, etc.) although I have to be careful I don't apply too much because it can be a bit too obvious looking for my taste if I do. I also use it on the inner corner of my eye though I've noticed it doesn't last as long there as it does on my waterline. On my waterline it just wears and wears and I'm not sure how they've managed to make it stay as well as it does but it lasts about ten hours on my waterline (with a little fading but I find I like it better with a little fading anyway) and I'm a contact lens wearer so my eyes can be watery. I'm very pleased with it so far, though I'll update this review if I find anything better.

NC25 Chinese, oily lids and red waterline.

Re: the Inner Rim BRIGHTENER (creamy peach color). I totally passed on the Stila Topaz (way too glowy apricot) as well as the UD Yeyo and TT Crystal Doll (both too frosty for daily).

Really does brighten, and probably due to my application technique and that it's automatic pencil tip style, it draws more in a "line" vs a more smudged out look for my waterline. Eyes definitely look brighter and reflects light nicely without being obnoxious. Alternately I also like the NARS Rue Bonaparte (light almond) for the more smudged, albeit matte, look on my lower lashline.

First off, this waaay over-priced eyeliner is a total rip-off. It breaks nearly every time I use it! The ONLY thing it has going for it is that it comes in Black.

Take note that I don't use this on my inner rim but in place of a 'traditional' thick eyeliner.Having 'hooded' asian eyes this is the only thing that doesn't lay down an uber distracting, thick line around my small eyes and doesn't eventually wear off leaving me with a big ugly raccoon eye effect after several hours. (Yes, I've tried waterproof liners but one stray flake or wrong move and that liner flub will fester and not budge off my cheek for like the next week, lol).

Other brands like MAC, Clinique, Kevyn Aucoin, Anastasia carry ultra thin eyebrow pencils which I would gladly use as an eyeliner but none make a Black shade. aarrrghh! And of course my beloved Maybelline Define-a-Brow in Soft Black got dc'd a few months ago.

So this Tarte dud is what I'm left with. It's black and wears relatively well and works ok as long as you're super careful not to press down much. short, soft, feathery strokes is the way to go with this stuff. Not clicking out too much product seems to help a little.

I always follow up with a dusting of the coppery, purple shade from Aveda Plum Mist trio and it sets the eyeliner nicely. Alone it does smudge but the line is so subtle it's not that noticeable and prevents the dreaded mid-day raccoon eye. So yes I will buy this again, begrudgingly shelling out $18 dollars for it but sans raccoon eyes.

PS I've tried the Charcoal and the Plum (?) shades as well. The Charcoal is not a true sooty gray like I had expected but a glittery silver which is nice but not very natural and the purple shade was a very pretty, subtle plum. I prefer Black as it serves as the best base for making eyeshadow layered on top really pop.

i got this a couple years ago because my friend said she really liked it and after i bought it i really liked it too. i bought this again a couple months ago and it is completely different. it kept breaking once i slightly pressed it against my skin. i thought i had a dud so i exchanged it for another one... same thing happened. i was so upset because the first one i got was creamy (almost like urban decay 24/7 eyeliners) and it stayed on forever. i wouldn't even pay a dollar for this now.

This liner does not go on smoothly. It is crumbly(which I find dangerous if winds up IN eye). I just didn't like the texture or shape. It seemed square rather than round which pulled on the skin on my lid when applying.
It is thin for fine lining.

Eh, nothing amazing. I like that it has a turn up style container but, it crumbles and breaks often. It has decent staying power but it is not a smooth as I like my eyeliner when going on.

I bought this in the black travel/mini size from Sephora. There were a couple of things I liked about it in the first couple of days but by the end of the week this liner was useless. The best thing about this liner is the that it's skinny. I don't line my inner rim but this thin design lets me get close to my lash line easily for a more natural looking line. I even liked the fact that it was a compact travel size. The first few days it went on smoothly and stayed on better than most liners. The color was a true dark black that didn't fade out or smudge off after an hour on my oily lids. 4-5 days in this stuff began to dry out and became harder and harder to apply. A week later it feels like I'm dragging a tiny hard wax crayon over my lids over and over and the color is not as rich nor does it seem to be as smudge or fade resistant. Glad I didn't buy a full sized liner I couldn't even get through a mini.
