* great product to take you in between dye jobs - or reduce your itch to dye if you get major lemmings to change it up too often for your own (hair's) good!
* much, much better than john frieda's color glazes - those leave my hair feeling like irradiated straw! this product conditions as it adds color pigments (and shine!) and so far, this has been working out very well for me! i've temporarily replaced my conditioner with it.
* similar concept to natural instincts "2 week color refresh" - which i'm sure took their cue from this product!
* i use the one with "beyond brunette" with "auburn" tones (versus the regular brunette one) and now in the summertime sun, i do see visibly redder highlights.
* if you prefer reddish tints to your hair but hate how reddish brown or auburn hair dye washes out super easily, this is worth trying to keep the "reddish brown" color alive.
* i do think it is being discontinued but i've started seeing these at dollarama!

I guess if you use this enough you would see a huge difference, but I always forget to use it that often! The smell is a bit strong for me, but not a horrible smell, just perfumy(if thats a word). I think it does make my hair seem shinier even after one use. I always leave it in for the maximum time of 5 min. So Id buy this again if I was looking for something to bring out some shine.

LOVE. THIS. PRODUCT.
love love love love love love love! <3
I use it every other day and it immediately boosts my color. I get a rich, chocolate brown, with red tones. It doesn't weigh my hair down, and the product itself is very creamy and thick- much better than the John Frieda glaze, which is more like water and falls everywhere in your shower. It's cheaper than the JF one, too, so that's always a bonus. will continue to buy this product because it's so perfect. It also keeps my hair moisturized and shiny. Loving it. Can't get enough.

I have tried Sunsilk & John Freida for several months to really be able to compare products. I have to say the Sunsilk is far superior! I have been trying to grow out my hair from coloring(tired of the maintenance) and this has really helped that transition. I do have a lot of gray at my temples etc..and it just makes it a nice light brown color with just a hint of red. Looks very natural. The JF just does not cover gray nearly as well & it makes my hair look dull and dry.
I really wanted to like the JF because its very hard to find the Sunsilk here where i live but the SS just colors & covers better for me.

Horrid compared to the John Freida Glaze. Left a flat looking film rather than Freida's candy gloss shine.

This product is infinitely superior to the John Frieda glaze, which was a big waste of money and time. The Sunsilk version does seem geared toward light or medium browns, so I'm not sure that those with darker hair would benefit as much from the color depositing. I purchased mine for $2.50 at a Bed Bath and Beyond, so even if it hadn't changed my color, I wouldn't have been too distraught. But it did indeed deliver on its claim! I have been trying to grow out my hair, previously dyed a light reddish brown, to my natural color, a medium brown. Since I've sworn off permanent dye, I've been using demi permanent, which is fabulous for conditioning but not so much on the longevity. I bought the color boost to extend the life of the demi permanent color, and I love it. It won't drastically change hair color, but it doesn't claim to. It helps bring back the glossy, chestnut brown when the lighter duller hair starts showing through. And just how I love how my hair feels after using demi permanent, this too adds glossy manageability to my hair. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this little gem. I hope it is not discontinued!

I LOVED this product... it smelled like cinnamon, like Christmas... I loved the consistency, and it does what it says. I bleached my hair and it no longer holds color, but I am trying to grow it out, so I constantly have blondish-looking lengths of hair towards the ends of my hair and my natural brunette roots. This kinda helped even everything out a little bit. It's not dye so it doesn't do miracles but it spruces things up a bit. The best part isn't even the color, it's the condition it leaves your hair in... smooth, silky, bouncy, beautiful. I love waking up in the morning after using this the night before.
I got it at Big Lots for $1.50 and no one has written a review in some time I see, so I'm guessing this product is discontinued and that is a SHAME!

I bought this after dying my hair dark brown (i had dark copper hair with blonde highlights before). I wanted to save money from getting all these dye jobs so i decided to buy this to help maintain my brunette hair. It's worked so far since my hair color hasn't faded. Be warned: this stuff smells slightly of hair-dye. So if you can't stand the smell of chemicals, this isn't for you.

I just used this for the first time and so far I like what I see. I recently died my hair dark brown over really light blond. When I started to see more and more blond showing through due to the color washing out I decided to try this product. I have only used it once and I already see a slight difference. The blond hair that was showing through is a lot less noticeable already.

Today is the first day I've used this, and I hope I keep getting these results! I have old highlights that I have been growing out for 7 months - so there is some serious growth going on! I wanted to try and tone down the blonde highlights and give a boost to my flat, dark blonde natural hair color - basically evening out the color and making the growth less obvious. It didn't really do anything for the highlighted part of my hair, but it made my natural color pop. I love my natural color now! And my hair is glossy and silky, and it was a snap to fix this morning! I really love it! Nothing got stained, including the tub and my hands, and it wasn't messy at all. It smells great, too! The Walgreens near me had this on clearance for $2.25! I hope they're not discontinuing it.... That would be just my luck.
Oh, and my hair type is baby fine, with some damage from the highlights. I usually have to use a very light conditioner to keep my hair from being weighed down. But this stuff worked like a charm. Yay! Sunsilk... who knew?

My hair is dyed to a warm dark brown, with auburny tones. This product is used in place of conditioner. You can leave this product on for 3-5 minutes and it claims to boost brunette hair color. It did make my hair very shiny, soft and evenly toned. I use this every once in a while when I want richer color. I think it generally does what the packaging claims. I was looking for something that would tint a tiny bit more for a deeper, more cool-toned brown, but this definitely evens out the color of my hair. All in all, I will continue to use this product, but would keep my eyes open for other brunette color tinting products.

I really like this stuff. It leaves a nice, shiny deposit of color on my hair, and it conditions well. I've tried both the ones for non-highlighted and for highlighted hair, and I find they both leave a reddish tint, which I like. I use it every other time I wash my hair, alternating with the Beyond Brunette conditioner.

I really wanted to like this based on the reviews. I felt like it coated my hair. It felt waxy somehow. I returned it to Target. Maybe I'll try Aveda next.

My hair was brassy, orangey and dull, so in order to avoid more reddish tint, I avoided the type for auburn browns (I chose the type for non-highlighted brunettes). I hoped for deep brown glossiness. Instead, I did get more redness. I guess they figure most people have mousy brown hair that use this, and want reddish hints. It did a pretty good job of conditioning and did leave a subtle tint, so if you are after a slight chestnut boost, this may work for you.

A very hydrating condioner that offers a lot of slip and rinses out without leaving any build-up. I was very impressed and people commented how dark and glossy my hair was. Prior, I had a lot of natural highlights from the sun that I didn't particularly like. This took care of that. If for some reason you don't get a color change from it, I highly recommend it as a great drugstore conditioner.

I like this product a lot more than the John Frieda equivalent (Brilliant Brunette Color Glaze). The JF stuff leaves my hair feeling dull and wiry, whereas Sunsilk leaves it so soft and silky. Also, Sunsilk instructs you to skip the conditioner when you use Color Boost, while JF tells you to both condition and use Color Glaze for 3 minutes, so it becomes time consuming to do both. With this stuff I can just shampoo, rinse, put on the Color Boost, and during the 5 minutes you're supposed to leave it on I do the rest of my washing and by the time I'm done it's time to rinse. Aside from giving your hair a nicer texture than JF I think it also gives it a deeper, more noticeable tint. It also smells pretty nice.

I was rather unimpressed with this...I dyed my hair myself, and rather than getting the color I wanted, I ended up with reddish hair which I really didn't care for :( I had hoped that the Sunsilk Colour Boost could remedy this situation without having to dye over my mistake and I had a $3.00 off coupon, so I bought this in the brunette shade for non-highlighted hair (not the one that is supposed to deposit auburn tones). Overall, I really can't tell any difference in the color of my hair after using this. Some other reviewers even comment on how much they like it as a conditioner, but honestly it does not seem that great to me. I have super thick curly hair though, so I typically use ultra-rich conditioners and maybe that is why the Sunsilk seems so average to me. It's definitely not horrible though as a basic conditioner. Although I don't intend on buying this again, I am probably going to finish using up the rest of the bottle. Maybe with continued use I'll see some more results???

I really wanted this stuff to work for me. It made my hair heavy and flat and I did not see any colour boost. I think my hair may have been too dark for this product. I gave it to my mom who has short very light brown hair and she likes it.

I started using this because I used to dye my hair all the time all the strange colors and wanted to start over and chopped it all off.... I'm talking from lower back to pixie cut. Well I really wanted to give my natural hair an oomph so I bought this thanks to the reviews I found here. So glad I did. It leaves my hair really shiny, soft and well conditioned. I find that color wise it makes my natural highlights stand out more in the light too. I'm using the regular Beyond Brunette and have been searching everywhere for the one with auburn tint since my highlights are a bit more on the reddish side so if anyone knows a store or chain that sell it I would be very thankful. Yeah so this stuff rocks!

My once purply red highlights ditched both of those colors and decided to head for copper. I figured this was worth a shot to try to get them looking more blended with my medium brown hair (that had naturally reddish tones to it). It leaves my hair super soft and shiny and makes the color of my hair look more even. I love the smell of it, and it doesn't stain my hands (but I do wash right after I apply it). I took off one lippy because the color is supposed to gradually wash out, but I feel as though it doesn't linger nearly as long as it ought to. But the benefits outweigh it's slight lasting power downfall. I will use this as my highlights grow out and maybe even beyond to make my hair shiny!
