This and the regular Vanicream are my new HG products. I use tretinoin and glycol acid on alternating nights, and therefore, my skin became very dry and flakey. Nothing cured the flakes...until I started using Vanicream's wonderful moisturizers. The Lite Lotion is perfect for day use and for under makeup. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin dewy, healthy, clear, and glowing. The dryness is GONE. I recommend Vanicream Lite Lotion one hundred times over...it has literally cured my irritated skin.

My Derm gave me samples of this since I have dry sensitive but also oily skin as well as acne prone..yup I have everything going on. I liked this because it absorbs quick but is still a good moisturizing consistency. I actually use this at night and wish I could use it during the day but it lacks a SPF. Didn't have any additional acne or reaction. I will use in the future for sure.

I use this mostly as a body lotion, but also as an extra moisturizer on my face.
I have sensitive, dry skin, and it's been fabulous. Love that it is unscented, and developed by dermatologists at the Mayo Clinic. Has safe, healthy ingredients.

This is a wonderfully moisturizing cream for super cheap! I learned about this at the Derm office I work at, and this stuff is the deal. I use the vanilite lotion anytime I have any bit of dryness or flakes, and under my Obagi NuDerm Sunshield on days when I may be a little sensitive after using Atralin, and this stuff is wonderfully creamy and absorbs in about a minute. Would recommend to anyone, it's only about $13 for a 16oz pump-steal!

I wrote to Vanicream for a few samples of their products (they're VERY generous with samples, by the way) and this was the first product I tried on my rosacean, acne-prone, oily skin. It felt very nice when I first put it on and my face felt clean and fresh. In the morning, I woke up to an explosive rash and breakout all over my face. Nice. My forehead was downright sore to the touch with tiny little bumps all over and blinding redness. I can't believe that a product that is supposed to be formulated for sensitive skin could cause this many problems in one night. Regardless, I'm afraid to try the other samples now and this one is most certainly going in the trash. =(

Dermatologist recommended this as a moisturizer for my acne prone, oily skin. Perhaps she thought my skin would be dry due to the topical prescription creams - not so. I don't think there's any product out there than can put a dent in the amount of oil my face can produce - not happy about that. This cream didn't break me out but it made me that much oilier. I'll give it to my sis or mom.

I've been using samples of this for a while now, just went and bought the big 16oz pump bottle. I have had problems with oily skin and sebum plugs for a long time. Since I've started using this with a cleansing oil / Eucerin redness relief cleanser / tea tree & acv toner / metrogel routine it has cleared up very well. I put just a small amount on while my face is still wet, and that seems to make a difference. Not a hg, but pretty good.
Edit: I dropped my rating from 4 to 2. It gave me some pretty bad cystic acne on my chin. I stopped using this and the problem went away, none of my routine changed. Using up as body lotion which works ok for spring, but I have doubts that it would work during winter. Won't repurchase.

I dont use this on the face simply because of the petroleum oil in it. I do use it on my hands and dry patches of skin. I was introduced to this when my DDs pediatrician prescribed it for her burns. It worked wonders on my dry cracked hands. I just wish it was easier to get and i didnt have to go to a pharmacist all the time.

Me: 22, combination skin - oily nose & chin, dry/sensitive cheeks & forehead. Redness all over.
The product: I received a sample of this from www.psico.com (someone needs to tell them their website name looks like psycho.com!) It was a pleasantly large trial sized tube and would have lasted me at least a whole month if I had kept using it. The actual product is around $8 for 8 ounces. Fragrance-free, like all Vanicream products, and a nice short ingredients list for those of us who love that sort of thing.
Me: Broke me out in a splendid constellation of whiteheads and little red bumps every time I used it. I seriously could have given Orion a run for its money. End of story, end of the trial, end of this review. It was such a huge disappointment, because I loved how hydrating it was without being TOO heavy, but that's life!
Ingredients: Purified Water , White Petrolatum , Cetearyl Alcohol , Ceteareth-20 , Propylene Glycol , Sorbitol Solution , Simethicone , Glyceryl Monostearate , Polyethylene Glycol Monostearate , Sorbic Acid , BHT

Let me preface my review by stating right off the bat that I have ridiculously sensitive skin. Some days, even water on a soft washcloth is enough to leave my face beet red, stinging, with little angry red bumps (not acne). Finding products to use on my face is tremendously difficult.
I have been trying a slew of products as of late and everything has been a disaster. On a whim, I purchased the vanicream light lotion today after my dermatologist recommended it. I gave it a spin tonight after washing my face.
Vanicream Light is a very light lotion and a little bit goes a very long way. All I can report at this time is that it didn't make my face sting or turn red. After an hour, I still do not have little red bumps or any irritation. My face feels soft and comfortable. That alone is astounding.
This is not a natural or botanical product. It's main ingredient is a petro-chemical (white petrolatum), which is a big no-no with the organic, whole foods crowd. Quite honestly, after having some of the worst reactions of my life from organic, natural skin cares lines, I really couldn't care less what is in it, just as long as my skin can tolerate it and it is effective. Vanicream Light lotion also contains simethicone, which could cause be a pore clogger, especially for acne prone folks
I'll update as my use continues to see if I wake up with clogged pores or have any unexpected acne (which I am normally not prone to in the slightest). I have been disappointed in the past within the first few days of trying a new moisturizer, but my fingers are crossed.
***UPDATE***It has been a few hours since application and my cheeks are beginning to itch. Not a good sign.
***Update*** My skin was itchy and irritated all night and I woke up to a raw face. Back to Wallgreen's it goes. Alas!

In the winter my face becomes a desert. A flaky, flaky desert. But after getting a tip from a friend, I got wise. Vanicream is a Minnesota company, which is why I haven't heard much about it.
I think that the Vanicream Lite is fantastic, as long as you use it in conjunction with other moisturizers. No added fragrance or unnecessary chems, which is good for sensitive skin people. I like to use half a teaspoon of this, rub it in, and then use Eucerin for Sensitive Skin with SPF. Since I started using this combination, I have not had flaky skin. Excellent.
The original smell of this isn't great, but it goes away quick enough.

I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin and have tried several different types of oil free moisturizers, only to have them break me out. I use Purpose (spf15) moisturizer during the day, but couldn't find anything to use at night--which is problematic since I use Differin which can be drying. The dermatologist recommended this. I've used this for a week so far and really like it. It absorbs quickly and moisturizes well. The best part? No acne! Will update in a few weeks.

I had a few samples of this (thanks to Pharmaceutical Specialties for their generousity with samples). While it was light (hence the name) and highly spreadable, it wasn't nearly enough moisture for me. It didn't feel like petroleum was the second ingredient, thankfully. Actually, I liked it on my legs after shaving because it wasn't tacky and didn't cause my pants to stick to my lotioned legs.
But on my hands or where my skin was dry/flakey/cracked/etc, I applied generous amounts, it absorbed well, and then soon after (without handwashing), my hands were dry again like they were bottomless pits of moisture neediness.
