Many years ago I bought this in soft orchid shade. By the name you would expect some kind of pink/red color, and the color sticker shows a watermelon red. However the actual lipstick color is a disgusting orange-brown which looks horrible on me, like a mature woman who has been worn out by the toils of life. The texture doesn't help either, it goes on super shiny. Not a hydrated look, but rather an strange fake shine . I just found this in my old stash and will discard it instantly.

Wow, I've had excellent results with this and am amazed at the bad reviews. Mostly it sounds like a lot of people bought theirs at the dollar store and hate them, but frankly, makeup from the dollar store (and I buy it there too) is older anyway, or on closeout, so it isn't' going to be fresh or new, so you aren't seeing it at its best. I have the clear on right now and it's a silky pleasant feel and smells like raw silk. I am looking to buy more.

Oh my this color is nasty on me! It's very brown I thought it would be more of a rose. Well the good thing is I only paid $1 for it but still a waste of money. I'll be giving this to a friend with a deeper skin tone hopefully this will be a good natural lip for her.

I bought this today at the 99 cent store and was disappointed. I got it in #500 clear (yeah, it's a lipstick? idk) and it looked like a concealer in the tube so I figured it would be a nice basic. Anyway, it was really glittery and pretty much clear... not as moisturizing as I would like either. I'm not sweating because it's not like I spent a lot of money. I will not repurchase.

I had wanted to purchase these in the past, mostly because they are a lip color with spf, but I hestitated because of the low ranking on here. But when they popped up at the Dollar Tree, I figure if I lose a buck it isn't to bad. I ended up with 3 colors, Rosewood, Pink Pearl, & Coffee. Coffee was a pretty brown but to dark for me. Pink Pearl was too sheer and frosty but I love Rosewood. It's a pretty MLBB color. A brown with just a slight hint of pink. Pretty impressive color. I would have paid normal price for this one. A pretty lip color with spf, I plan on going back for more, especially for summer. Only cons are they don't last long and the ones I got smell like chemicals. Maybe they are older, I don't know. But I definitely buy Rosewood again.

I bought this for a dollar not long ago. I chose the color Red, more of an experiment, since I typically buy pink lipsticks. It was hard to tell what type of red this was, since I needed a blue-based red and it looked more brown in the packaging, which is white and silver with a clear bit in the middle (at least it clicks closed, which I like). I did like the cooling feeling it left on my lips, and it is very pigmented. Almost a bit too pigmented, so I've been dabbing it on my lips and putting clear balm on top. Otherwise, it is a very nice true red and a lovely introduction to red lipcolor!
EDIT: I went back and got the color Petal also, which is more coral, and I like how subtle it is with a smoky eye.

I know alot of people disliked these but I really enjoy them. when first applied they feel like a balm, very moist, although I don't feel any real moisturizing effect on my lips. I absolutely hate the packaging though, the tube doesn't alow you to really se the color of the lipstick, which means I had to buy a few to figure out which colors really looked good on me. My favorites are "Red", the perfect shade of bright, true red for me, and "Plum", a sheer plum color with a small amount of iredescent shimmer. I do agree with everyone else that these have a very strange, chemical smell to them.

Moistening immediately upon application, but slight chemical odor that fades quickly. Unfortunately, so does the color.

i have extremely dry lips but this ALMAY product is absolutely amazing. It does what it says-Hydrate ur lips. I have it in Peony and its a natural pink colour (matches the colour of my lips). Top this off with a clear gloss and I'm out the door. Its so perfect for work. love it and will buy again!

Dreadful. Thankfully only paid a dollar for it and promptly threw it out after testing. 'Soft Orchid' was gritty, colourless, and smelled so rank. Thought it was just off but the other tube smelled identical. Didn't want it anywhere near my face...what on earth did they think??!!

[In a conference room down at Almay corporate headquarters, three directors sit down to a meeting.]

Quality Control: The factory just sent us those lipsticks you asked for. Thousands of them. There's only one problem.

Creative Director: Hoo boy.

QC: Formulating sent the factory the wrong numbers. Turns out the lipsticks have 100 times more water than they're supposed to.

CD: And... that's a bad thing?

QC: Oh yeah. Lipsticks are an emulsion, so you need a really precise ratio of water-based to oil-based ingredients. Otherwise you get a gritty, digusting mess.

CD: I see.

QC: I need your signature here so we can get these disposed of --

Marketing Director: Wait, hold on a second! We can still sell them!

QC: Uh, no we can't. I just told you --

MD: Oh, come on, how long have you been in this business? Think about it: Water! Hydrating! Moisturizing! Refreshing!

QC: Yeah, but that's really not how it --

CD: You know, I think you have something there. How about we call it... Hydracolor!

MD: It'll be a hit! I'll call Allure right now and see if they can get us placed in the Beauty Awards!

[CD and MD leave the room, laughing and patting one another on the back. QC, dumbstruck, watches them go.]

QC: I have got to find another job.

This lipstick is very moist and excellent as I just apply on my lips, but then gradually drys up and becomes very heavy. As a result, I do not think I would buy it again.

I lucked out when I bought this in "Apricot", it was exactly the shade I was hoping for! I agree, it's hard to tell what the color will look like through it's packaging. Apricot is a gorgeous medium peach shade with some shimmer. The smell isn't pleasant, it reminds me of the old REvlon Colorstay lipsticks. This isn't sticky or gooey like a lipgloss, but it's not hydrating, in fact it reminds me of a long-wearing formula, but it's not drying either. It lasts a very long time, isn't sticky, and has SPF, so I love it, but I can see why other people would be disappointed. Can't wait to try other shades! UPDATE: I purchased these in "Pink Pearl", "Soft Coral", and "Dusk" and love all 3 of those shades too!

Man oh man, was this product disappointing! With a name like "Hydracolor," you would expect this lipstick to be moisturizing. The day I bought it, when I got home I hurriedly opened it and spread it on my lips, only to create a yucky, thick coating of orange. Not moisturizing, but instead VERY dry looking - like a mutant putty.
I have since made my terms with this and have not, remarkably, thrown it away. My reason is that I got Apricot, which when dabbed lightly over a thick layer of lip balm or Cargo's Plantlove Lipstick in Lindsey (pale pink), creates a lovely peachy color to my lips that I can't create with any of the other items in my whittled-down lip products collection. I will NOT rebuy, but I am not chucking it in the garbage either. Therefore, a 2.

Wow!, the reviews for these are so bad and I actually think this isn't. It doesn't moisturize as much as I thought it would, but this isn't drying either. It keeps lips pretty smooth as long as you are wearing it, once it wears off your lips will feel a little dry. I have this in raspberry pearl and it looks kinda scary in the tube, but is actually a pretty brick red color that makes my teeth look whiter. I won't buy it again because I know there are better lipsticks out there, but I'll definitely buy the shade in some other brand.

Almay Hydracolour Lipstick is a very pretty lipstick. I received this free in a package I won a while back and got given the colour Mauve. It is a shimmering, almost frosted light pinky mauve that's a really flattering shade on my golden, light beige skintone. It's not as moisturising as I'd like, but it's decent. I love how it provides a soft, sheer whisper of colour to my lips with a slight sheen. It applies creamy smooth and doesn't wear off or fade while drinking or eating. This is great for everyday wear; it contrasts well with a deep, smoky eye and is perfect for a natural, no-makeup look.

I love lip products of all types--everything from old-school lipstick to gloss. I regularly skulk around the beauty departments of my local CVS and Walgreens and decided to try this product after it went on sale at the former (plus I had five of that store's "Extra Bucks," which is tantamount to a 5.00$ coupon). Besides the savings, what also enticed me into trying this product were all the claims about its purported moisturizing properties. Those clever marketers--the package even features little drops of what you'd swear was dew or rain!

Even though I always wear red lipcolor, choosing a shade was difficult--the product's actual color doesn't resember the color on the packaging, and the frosty, semi-opaque tube distorts the color as well. I chose Cherry and Garnet. Cherry was much brighter than I had thought; probably only a select few can pull off a red THAT bright. Garnet was much more to my liking, although it was a little too brown for my tastes. (A friend later showed me her Clear, which wasn't really clear at all--it left a bizarre, rather thick coating of dull, silverish sparkle on her lips.) This product feels rather cool when you first apply it--it only takes one coat to get good coverage, which is initially very pretty. It's not moist at all, and my lips felt rather dry after wearing it for an hour or so. It does not wear evenly at all. While waiting to pick up some medications last week, I noticed a huge bin full of drastically reduced cometics--this product was among them. The display for it in the Almay section had been completely emptied, so I'm guessing that this is being discontinued. No great loss to the lipstick world, in my humble opinion!

This stuff is HORRIBLE! It is not hydrating AT ALL. It actually sheds off of my lips, it looks so gross. It also smells terrible. I gave this more than a few tries and it always shedded off! I threw it away, what a waste of money.
