It hurts my waterline. Didn't leave any mark on either. When I tried swatching it on my hand, the white line was very faint. Even dragging the rock-hard pencil on my hand hurted quite a lot. Wasn't creamy at all. Hate the cap that comes out with sharpener, I guess that's what makes the eyeliner hardens faster. I'll stick with higher dollar brands than this :(

This is such an awful product. It doesn't blend. It's only 1$ may be that's why the quality is bad, compared to other elf products. The sharpener on the cover is only cute, but that's it.

I was really excited to get this but it was a complete disappointment. There was almost no colour payoff unless you practically scrub it onto the waterline (which isn't pleasant) and even then it hardly showed up. Heating it up with hair dryer did nothing and it wore off quickly.
The cap is awful too.

Useless!

I am so sad to see the bad reviews for this item.. NOt sure if i am just lucky to have got good pencils but i LOVE this pencil.. i use it nearly everyday (i alternate between this one & the shimmer pencil in Iconic Ivory) This is a great pencil for a few different things. i know Elf has improved alot of their pencils so maybe since i got the New/Improved pencil, its so soft & creamy!
=PRICE/AVAILABILITY=
The Professional Eye Widener comes from the Essential line that will only cost you $1!! its super cheap & affordable for everyone. This pencil can be found on the eyeslipsface website in the essential eye group or ive also seen this at Target. Availability will vary depending on your location.
=SHADE/FORMULA/PERFORMANCE=
The Elf Eye Widener is a nice soft white/pearlescent liner that i find is excellent for lining the waterline to open up the eyes a tad more w/out being too harsh/unnatural as a pure white liner also its great for lining the inner tear duct area for the smoldering eye look. I use this everyday for those purposes. Its nice opaque white but a pearly white color thats great for the inner tear duct. i love lining it & topping the liner w/ a champagne shadow that way it stays put all day. i have allergy/watery eyes & doing it that way, i dont find it wears away like most pencils. I love this pencil on the waterline. it makes my eyes look a bit bigger. Alone it will wear for a few hours but using a primer & topping this (even on the waterline, if you have really watery eyes, def suggests trying this step) with a powder shadow. this will help w/ staying power. The formula for me, is a nice soft pencil. its not super creamy but creamy enough that this dont pull or tug on the eyes. Its pigmented pearl color. Its a sheer pearl color so i dont expect it to go on opaque. Elf is spot on in its description (which sometimes they can be a tad deceiving) but i totally agree. " This soft white eye pencil goes on smoothly and blends easily, creating an illusion of bold and beautiful eyes that sparkle. Helps to awaken tired eyes for a more youthful and vibrant look!" Its not BOLD but more natural & pretty & i love the formula. The pencil is great & smooth & so great for daily use.
=PACKAGING=
The Eye Widener pencil is like their Shimmer Pencils which are regular wooden pencils that have to be sharpened. this one is great since i find i have to sharpen it once a week basically. if you want more of a sharp point everytime, you will have to do so more often. i like somewhat of a point but nothing too sharp on my waterline. The pencil plastic top has a built in sharpener which i dont use since i dont want a bunch of wood shaving & product bunched up inside there getting on the pencil itself. it would work in a pinch if say i had to use it but its not practical to me. It would eliminate the need for a separate sharpener but elf makes a great basic sharpener that works great which i use to sharpen this. The pencil is easy to sharpen, no wasted product due to the tip falling off. The creamy product sharpens to a point w/out falling off. The pencil is a great size & will last forever. Its def worth the price. The pencil is white in color w/ metallic writing/logo. Simple & chic- nothing too fancy but a great pencil overall.
Overall, this is a nice pearl liner thats great for lining the water line, the inner tear duct & even have used it on the cupids bow.. i find it shows up well & is soft. Not sure if i was just lucky to get a great pencil since i know sometimes w/ elf or any bulk products, there are inconsistencies but i got a great product & use it a ton.. have bought backups for when or if i ever get thru the pencil.. ive been using it for a few months & it hasnt gotten dried up or anything. great simple but essential product for me!

I am in general always impressed by E.L.F's quality in comparison to their prices but this is one of those items that simply does not work. Its extremely hard, the color applies patchy and if you attempt to use it on your waterline you wont only get really sore eyes from the hardness of the pen but the color itself wont even show up. Save your money for something else.

I really like this product! It works great if you use it around the inner corners of your eyes! It really brightens them. This product is only $1, which is an awesome deal, and the lid has a built in sharpener! The only problem I found with this product is that it doesn't show up on your waterline, but it makes a great inner eye corner highlighter and brightener!

I decided to try this out because it's cheap. I have been searching for a good white eye pencil that will show up on my waterline...much like NYC's white eye pencil.
This one doesn't do that. I like the packaging; I like that there's sharpener that acts as a cap on the pencil. I like the color of the pencil, but it does not even show up on my waterline. It's okay on the outer lid though.
If you want something that'll show up on the waterline, definitely do not buy this pencil. If you just want something on the outer lid, this is an okay choice (since it's only $1) but you can find better.

I just bought this and I HATE IT. It is chaulky and it doesn't even apply, when I started applying it to my waterline it didn't even show up. This product is a complete waste, Benefit Eye Bright or even just the White Rimmel Eye Kohl works A LOT better.

I did not check makeupalley or did I do any research first before buying this so... that's lesson learned. Now, off to spilling out why I don't think you should buy this.
Formulation. This is a soft pencil but not in a good way. Think of an eyeliner that's overheated with a hair blower--unusably melted. It's not smudge-proof nor water-proof.
Packaging. It's a pencil with a very nifty plastic sharpener cap (see the photo above) that doesn't fit the pencil well. It falls off all the time! Now, if for some reason you like this and decide to bring it with you--I say, DON'T (or atleast secure it with a masking tape). Loose cap and melted eyeliner combined is not a good idea. It will create a silver mess on the (probably really cute) lining of your bag.
Color. This liner is silvery white on the pencil. But if you apply it on the skin, it's more silver than white. It seems pigmented as shown in the photo below--but on your waterline, it's barely there.
Staying Power. If you can get it to show on your waterline, it can last you a (not so) good 30 minutes to 2 hours.
I tried using it on the inner corners of my eyes, on the browbone, on the cupid's bow--it didn't even last 'til lunch.
Value for Money. This costs Php 99 and despite it being cheap, 99 still costs to much for this product. I felt like I bought a good sharpener for Php 99. The sharpener consoled me.
Application. This doesn't glide easily on the waterline. You need to apply it over and over for the pigment to show, and when it does, it's barely even there. You'll just end up hurting your eye.
Also, since it's creamy-melted--it clumps on the lashes.
Now, if you use it as a highlighter or cream eyeshadow, apply it ever so lightly, else, you'll break the tip of the pencil (yes, that's how soft it is). Also, don't expect it to last, if you're oily, you'd have to reapply every 2 hours (or less)
Would I recommend this? No, not even for off-label use.
Would I buy it again? Never again.
Bottomline, even if you see something cheap on the shelves, TRY not to buy it unless you've already googled it or atleast heard something good about it.

hmm...I had never bought white eyeliner before so I figured i would try it since it was $1. I probably won't repurchase because I probably won't ever finish the one I have. Whenever I apply it to my water line, you can't really see it except for the liner that has clumped up on my lash line. I rarely use it. The only time I use it is when I have a lot of time to fix it when it clumps at my lash line.

After reading all of these reviews, I definitely must have gotten a new version of this, because I really like it! The pencil is soooooo soft and creamy, and I LOVE the cap with the sharpener! Just keep in mind that it is NOT WHITE, but a metallic silver color. Also, it goes on a little clumpy when applied to the waterline. Still, it's really good!

Looking at the reviews, I must have purchased an older version of this product, because it took me about all of 30 seconds to toss it in the trash. I bought it to highlight the corners of my eyes by the tear duct and it flacked, clumped and was way too bright.

This pencil didn't work for me at all. At all. I still have it for some reason, but it's just taking up space until I throw it away. I'm not one to completely give up on a product, but I just can't find any use for this one at all, since it's impossible to get it to do anything. I hope I have one of the 'old' formula ones, because if they're still selling this they need to stop.
Also, I HATE the built in sharpener caps!

I've recently bought this pencil. I like E.L.F. products because of the low prices and fairly good quality, but I have to admit that I've got no idea what this pencil is supposed to do. I use it as an eyeliner on my upper eyelid and than smudge it out a bit. Eyshadow is just a little to much make up for my personal taste, so I use this pencil instead.

I definitely got this in the new formula, the pencil is in pearl white and not the matte white as I has expected to be a good eye widener. It actually glides on very easily, the formula is very waxy but at the mean time it gets rub away easily as well, so expect to do alot of touch up or expect it to be gone before mid-day. This is not a good eye widener pencil for me due to the shade (not obvious on drawing) and lasting power but it's smooth on application and it's cheap, so if do not mind keep touching up i think it's ok but I won't purchase again.

I don't hate this pencil, but I don't love it either! It does go on smoothly, it brightens up my eyes and it looks nice when you first put it on. BUT, it only lasts maybe 1 - 2 hours and then it's pretty much gone. If I try to put this on top of an eye primer, it doesn't go on as smoothly. (I use this for the inner corners of my eye and sometimes my bottom lash line.) The cap/sharper is a good idea but after using the sharpener the product kind of gets stuck up in the blade and gets greasy and messy. For 1 dollar I guess this is an ok product but I will not be buying this again.

I don't get why this has gotten such bad reviews? Maybe E.L.F has changed the formula, because I don't find it hard and waxy. But its very sheer and pearly, so the color pay off on the waterline is not great. But I use it on the inner corner of the eyes and on my cupids bow, and it works great as a highlighter there.
