I'm not so sure of how to describe the color of this lipstick, but I'd say it's a brownish-nude with a hint of pink. just like the other Moisture Extreme lipsticks, this one is very moisturizing but not really creamy; more like satiny. this is a versatile color I can see myself using all year long.
UPDATE 04/13/12: I've come to not really like this color on me, therefore, I lowered the rating from a 5 to a 3! it looks really 90s on me, and would probably look much better on someone with different coloring. oh well, the formula is still great.

I love this product! The formula is so creamy and it is a perfect nude for my skin-tone. I loved the fact that it was only for a dollar at my local Big Lots, so it was win-win. I recommend everyone to try this line of lipsticks by Maybelline excellent range of colors and the price is extremely affordable.

I have no idea why this shade does not work on me. It's in the shade family that I usually buy. Nudes, browns, pinks. It even looks good swatched on my hand. a nice satin finish, mauvy brown. then I put it on my lips and it looks like I smeared Hot chocolate powder on my lips?! I have fair skin with yellow undertones and when i tan i'm golden tan. I couldn't even leave this on for a day at home the color is so off. I tried base, even revlon nude attitude to bring out the true color of the lipstick still hot chocolate brown...

Love the moisturizing formula, but this color is too brown for my taste.
UPDATE: I actually like this now on top of nude lipsticks that are too light for me, so I'm bumping up the rating.

This brownish, mauvey nude lipstick looks great on my asian tan skin. When you first apply it, it can look a little cakey but when you let it set in after a few minutes it looks great. It has no shimmer to it and it has a nice cucumber melon smell to it. My only problem is that I have apply it again after a few hours.

i used to have this allergic reaction to maybelline lipstick. but decided to purchase this colour when i needed to make an emergency stop to buy some make up. and since maybelline is the only brand available at that point of time, i bought this colour. and i must say, i love it. i didn't expect to look so natural with this colour (i am a NC30). i love that this lipstick packs moisture (i guess, hence the name "moisture extreme"). the only thing is that i'd need to retouch my lipstick after 4 hours.

This is a slightly cool-toned beige, and it looks like a good neutral on my pigmented lips and olive skin tone. Unfortunately, it lasts about 10 minutes. Total waste of money.

i like the lipstick, but i dont like the colour. i have really pigmented lips and i my skin is NC20 but this colour makes me look like my lips are dirty. for some reason cool tones, like this lipstick, tend to give my lips this weird effect. i guess i'm just not cut out to wear lipsticks. but i really do like the lipstick itself. its so moisturizing and kinda gives this nice shine on the lips. it doesnt last very long though, and has this kinda .. watermelon-ish scent that i'm not exactly a huge fan of but its still tolerable

I am a NC40 and have very pigmented lips. This is my HG lipstick!! I love it! It goes on sheer, like a nice light hint of brown nude. Perfect nude colour for me and it has good lasting power!!
This goes on very smooth and silky. I feel like this also helps to moisturize my lips too. Already bought my 2nd one and will always buy this.

This is a very nice neutral shade, slightly pink and slightly nude. It's great for work or an "everyday" shade. It is definitely moisture rich. I wish it lasted longer, but I can usually get about 4 hours of wear out of it.

I am uber picky when it comes to finding the perfect shade, as most women are, because my skin tone is finicky and only certain specific tones look decent with it. This is natural pinkish mauvish. It would do best on lighter skin tones and not on olive or darker skin tones, as it would probably make you look dead if you had those tones. I have blue undertones and am on the fair side. This looks GREAT with smoky eyes and big lashes with very pink cheeks. It's perfect. Will repurchase and will recommend to those with like skintones.

BOOOO i was so excited to get this, cuz of the raves i heard about being so natural looking...
well WRONG although this could pass off as natural (maybe with someone whose a different skintone than mine)...on MY LIPS, it made my face look DEAD, thats right it made me look DEAD, the color is Completely FLAT and LIFELESS on me, its looks like a very MUTE light brown, disguisting there is not much pink in here ..ewgh so much for all the hype

I am sooo happy I found this. I used to have Rimmels Sheer temptation in Naked and I was so upset that they discontinued it, it was perfect on my lips. This moisture extreme in chestnut is identical, even down to the cucumber melon scent. I think its a bit more pigmented though. After 2 years finally I found a match! This is rosey/beige on me, not too dark, very natural looking. I have very annoying red pigmented lips that do not compliment my natural skin tone! Also my lips dry soo easily and so far this lipstick seems to be moisturizing them extremely well. It is SOoo hard for me to find lipstick/any lip stuff that suits me. 5 lippies for this!!

I had tried 4 other Moisture Extreme lipsticks last year, only to be disappointed by them. I picked this up because it was free with rebate, and there was a display that said, "New Formula," so I thought I'd give it a try again.
The color is very similar to MAC's Hug Me lustre lipstick. A swatch of both on my hand reveal that Hug Me has more peachy tones to it while Chestnut has more beigey-rose tones to it. L'oreal's Aishwarya's Beige swatched on my hand shows up as more of a brown beige. However, when applied on my rosy pigmented lips, Chestnut & Hug Me are virtually identical. I don't much care for the cucumber melon scent, but the texture is sheer and moisturizing just like MAC's lustres. There is no discernable taste.
Chestnut would be a nice "expendable" lipstick to use in place of Hug Me. For example, I'd carry it in my purse on hot days & not worry about it melting in the heat. I'd bring it with me on a day at the amusement park and not worry about losing it.

Ok, for all the ladies who have been looking for dupes of Aish beige, Chestnut is the closest dupe that I have been able to find so far (NC 25-30 skin with neutral to warm undertones). This is a new release (released with other colors) and according to Maybelline (I emailed them), Chestnut is permanent and not an LE color! Yay for me since Aish beige is an LE (although L'Oreal might make it a permanent color because of the high demand). This new batch of Moisture Extreme lippies have been categorized for light, medium, and dark skins. Chestnut supposedly is for light and medium skintones. The color is a mauvey, rosy-beige on me (I have rosy pigmented lips).
Because it's a moisture extreme, Chestnut is creamy and moisturizing. It's not long-lasting of course because of it's creaminess/moisture, but that doesn't bother me. Aish beige has very subtle, micronized sparkles (at least that's how it looks look in sunlight) but Chestnut has no sparkles or frost. Like other moisture extreme lippies, chestnut has a cucumber-melon scent, which I find pleasant, and which is a vast improvement from the perfumey scent/taste of L'Oreal's colour riche lipsticks, including Aish Beige.
Another bonus is that Chestnut is cheaper than Aish beige. The only negative is that the packaging is cheap looking (Aish beige has a better look to it) but I can overlook this for the great color and quality. UPDATE on 3/24/07: Well, Aish Beige is now becoming a part of L'Oreal's permanent display and after a closer comparison, I do think that Chesnut is *not* a dupe of Aish Beige. Chestnut has more of a dusky rose color. I still love Chestnut!
