NW10-15 (neutral-cool toned, very fair), blue eyes, Color season is True Summer, Baumann Skin Type is OSPW.
Eh. I keep trying to "make it work" (Tim Gunn!). For some reason, this just comes off looking strange and I end up looking pale. I think there is just a hint too much warmth in this red for my skin tone.
Also, L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Plush Plum seems very similar. Not sure if it's a 100% dupe though. Formula is moisturizing too.

Dolce Vita is definitely an MLBB for me. It is sheer, so I can look natural and not caked-on, yet it adds color and volume to my lips that they would not have on their own. If you think it's too sheer, just add more. It feels like a chapstick, which is great, and has no odor. I am pale, but tan easily and have deep brunette hair (except for when i'm wearing my auburn wig); this lipstick looks good on me no matter what my hair color is or whether i'm currently pale or tan. That's the best part - it's adaptability. I am taking off a single point for its price: $24 for a sheer lipstick is high.

Interestingly enough, this lipstick does nothing for my asian skintone. I am NC15 and i thought this would be a great lipstick to have on hand when you have no makeup and want to brighten your face. it really didn't do anything for me and actually just blended into my own lip color. there wasn't a really gloss or sheen to it either. i don't think i would buy again.

I bought Nars DolceVita lipstick upon its popularity on the Nars website. Well, the colour is a very natural one and gives some healthy look to your lips. However I would recommend to wear it with the dark eye make up (blak/smokey) or with a tanned skin. Although it is a natural one, it has a little pale look in the colour. So it may make the pale skins look more pale. The texture is smooth and creamy which does not make your lips dry. It almost smells nothing. I love the lipsticks with a taste and smell. It makes me feel like I am wearing something on my lips. Good for everyday use! Instead of a moisturizer you can wear it as a lightner and moisturizer!

I am constantly wearing something on my lips. I have to because if I don't I continue to lick my lips which leaves them dry. Anyway, I love, love, love this lipstick. It makes me look polished. I am not allowed to wear makeup because of my work but I continue to do so anyway. Ha Ha!! I'm a rebel. As long as my makeup is not theatrical. I do wear a full face of makeup but this lipstick is awesome. Very expensive though. I purchased an eyeshadow from Nars but it received poor reviews so now i'm going back to Sephora to purchase Gypsy.

An excellent lipstick which flatters my asian skintone.
This is one to keep in the car and bag as it suits all types of makeup and looks quite natural so ideal when you need a quick top up and do not have a mirror or a lot of time.

I was disappointed with this lipstick. All the great reviews I read on other websites made me think this lipstick would be the end all. The texture is very dry...the color is okay..nothing to write home about and drugstore quality at best...I bought it from sephora and am taking it back....not worth the $$ spent.

I just wanted to say that when NARS is good it's VERY good but when NARS is bad, it's VERY bad. I completely agree with what the person below said and would also love to know what's going on!!!! I have only ever noticed the rancid plasticky lippies and dried out shadows from NARS and no other brand....??? Why????

Let me say this first and foremost..as a makeup artist for over 10 years AND a consumer there is one thing that needs to be said about NARS lipsticks and ALL of NARS products...
They are VERY INCONSISTENT! I don't know if this is a problem in formula or production or perhaps just each product is made in such mass quantities? Once upon a time you could have only found NARS in the high end dept. stores now it's EVERYWHERE. The lipsticks are so inconsistent in formula and smell and texture from same color and color to color. Sometimes I have purchased ones that have smelled "crayony and waxy" and rancid. The shadows are no different. Some are richly pigmented others are barely workable and dry and colorless. I don't know whats going on with that company, but Francois needs to get off his private beach in Tahiti and get back to his business!

Dolce Vita is hands-down my favorite lipstick of all time, a definite YLBB lipstick. NARS makes a top quality product and he's yet to let me down. I will always have one of these around, as long as he's making it.

I love this lipstick. I have it in Gipsy, as I was looking for something very sheer that wouldn't wash my already too pale face out. It provides a nice layer of color, but it's hard to tell if it's lipstick or just really healthy lips, which in my book, makes it a perfect color. The only downside I can see is that although the texture seems moisturizing, it's dried my lips out a bit--but I'm giving it the benefit of doubt, because I've only worn it in the winter so far.

Dolce vita is a great shade - but it is too similar to my own lips. I wear it anyway for the sheen and the feel of lipstick, but it is not much different. The price is ridiculous, but it's a good product and people are paying for it.

I love Gipsy. Purchased a tube at Neiman's in Tyson's Galleria a few weeks ago after I told the MA that Dolce Vita is my holy grail ls. She recommended I go a shade deeper and try Gipsy. Love it!

I must agree with those that say that Nars lippies are dynaminte--they are! THey don't have an unpleasant odor (à la Laure Mercier) and have the perfect, glossy finish. I always head straight for Nars at Sephora, and these lipsticks are part of the reason!

Like both of these products. The Dolce Vita seems to have more of a shine to it. The Gipsy has better color, but is quite flat. I prefer a more glossy/shiny look ... but you can always put your favorite gloss over this yummy color.

I liked this color when I tried it on in Sephora. However, it really dried my lips out and the color didn't look as nice as I thought. It was returned.

I love NARS lipsticks. Very creamy and lovely with no weird taste to make me cough (remember Revlon from the 80's? UGH that awful perfume taste--thank goodness they've since reformulated!) anyway, NARS are wonderful and Dolce Vita is a great sheer pretty red--I bought it after reading about it in Allure and on this website! Thanks gals for helping me choose this red!

Nars makes great lipsticks. Love these two shades. Highly recommended. Worth every one of those $21.

Two of my staples! Dolce Vita gets a 5 plus from me ... a pink-rose sheer YLBB color that works everyday, esp. with flushed cheeks. Gipsy is a cool red that stays a pretty cherry color rather than turning fushcia. It is not bright at all, but is a stronger lip alternative to DV. These are two fabulous lip colors, worth even the ridiculous price.
