This is a very unique colour. It's a nice deep purple with gold-ish glitter. I like to use this liner to change up my nighttime look every once in a while. It has the usual creaminess and long lasting qualities of the UD 24/7 liners. Love it!

This liner works GREAT for me. I'm very fair with very green eyes so this compliments me quite well.
Glides right on and has decent staying power on the waterline. The sparkle is very very subtle. The brown/purple color is quite pigmented. It's a lighter version of Rockstar, it's what Rockstar should have been.
Sadly, it's so creamy that if you used it daily, the pencil would not last long. so I use this sparingly because paying $19 for a single eyeliner is insane. Though this liner is worth it, that's still too much money to pay more than once every few months.

I very much recommend if you have a lighter complexion. If you're naturally tan or darker, this won't really work for you..

As much as I adore UD's 24/7 eyeliners, this particular one is quite lackluster, IMO. It does nothing for my NC44 complexion, it barely shows up. All I really get is a little bit of glitter. Disappointing.

Sadly, this 24/7 pencil doesn't do it for me. Hazel eyes normally suit purples and plums, but this shade makes my eyes almost look sore or bruised. It's just not right for my skin-tone and colouring, I suppose. It's a very metallic pencil, which I like, but the gold glitter is just a bit over the top for my taste. Unlike most other 24/4 pencils, 1999 doesn't show up very well on my eyes (which could be the cause of the slight "bruising" effect) and is especially non-transferable to my waterline. Swatched on my hand, it looks good (still, not my colour but at least pigmented and creamy) but it's hopeless on my eyes. Other friends have tried it and liked it, but I've yet to have someone say "Oh yeah, I'm going to go get one of my own!" as they have with my other 24/7 pencils. This won't be a repurchase for me, unfortunately.

I was at Sephora with my grandmother and she pointed out the collection of Urban Decay eyeliners and she picked out Stash and I found 1999...
it glides on so easily and smoothly, it looks so cool as daytime or nighttime makeup... I will definately repurchase. It's like a gold-ish purple hue that's really pretty and rare. Looks good with my hazel eyes.

it pains me to remove two lipsticks from this!
i am disappointed in this for 2 reasons; 1stly, the colour does not come out the gorgeous lilac, pinky gold it promises, more like a slightly gold eggplant that just looks like an interesting brown from afar and barely shows on the waterline - and 2ndly this is a BITCH to apply! (and it's warm weather at the moment!) 'Baked' and 'Lucky' go on like an absolute dream, but this is mission impossible, and it kind of hurts! these pencils also constantly need sharpening, and i honestly feel like this was a waste of money. MAC's kohl in 'Prunella' is better in my opinion. a bit of a shame. won't buy again.

however, once i have spent a century applying this (lol), i DO think it looks nice on my brown eyes. especially with a matching crease colour and a pale eyeshadow to make it stand out more. it does look very complementary and does do a nice job. it also stays on (the lids, not waterline) perfectly.
it has made me want to get MAC's fluidline in 'Macroviolet' instead, but that's a bit pointless to say in this review.
overall, disappointed and feel like '1999' has been marketed falsely.
buy this if you want a 'better than brown', slightly shimmery liner with very good staying power but takes a lot of tugging to apply, otherwise please don't bother :(

This is such a unique color - shimmery pale purple/lilac - if I may say. Now that my skin is lighter in the winter, this color would work on me. I use this when I feel like a very soft shimmer look for my eyes. We'll see if it would still work with my tan skin tone in the summer. I'm taking one lippie, because this color somehow not showing up on my waterline.

This colour may come as light for darker skin tone people. I am quite fair (NC15 Chinese Asian). I actually dun find UD eyeliners very pigmented. However you could build the colours by layering them slowly. Overall this colour is beautiful and lasting power is great.

my HG eyeliner! I even got my mom to switch to this after I bought her one in black. All the 24-7's have outstanding lasting power - I sometimes even have a trace left after washing my face with normal facial cleanser. The purple/gold combo is so light and works best for daytime & summer - good for light definition and widening the eyes, but not for a night-time look. The only bummer is it has to be sharpened very often: the pencil is quite soft. Sometimes the cap doesn't stay on well either.

I love the color of this eyeliner! It's a very pretty plum with burgundy tones and gold sparkles. It doesn't smudge and definitely stays on the whole day. I put it on my eyelids and lower lash line, not on my waterline but it was still great. I don't know why so many people had problems with getting the color payout :[

1999 Is A Burgundy/Plummy W/Gold Finely Not-Scratchy Glitter....SOUNDS THE BOMB....It Is I Like It...Not My Usual Bright & Reminds Me Of MAC's Pearlglide In Miss Fortune...W/O Gold Glitter & MF Being a Tad Brighter!!! I wear 1999 on days I want a fresh non-makeup eye....especially when my mouth & blush takes center stage...I will say that $17 is not fair for a E/L that's barely there...so I will not be repurchasing this.....such a shame cause the color is Gorgeous!!!!

I have tried almost all of the 24/7 liners from UD and liked them. This is the only liner from them that I have had trouble with. The color is so pretty, a deep plum with silver glitter. However, no matter how many times I go over a line, the color does not show up on my waterline. I randomly reach for this when I wear purples on my lids, but always end up tossing it aside and settling with Zero or Bourbon, because 1999 doesn't show up. Disappointing.

I love this liner. I'm very surprised to read so many neg reviews. The color is a gorgeous plum with gold sheen which fades a little to a lighter purple during the day. None of the chunky glitter that the 24/7 liner in Bourbon has. The formulation is wonderful too wich goes for most the 24/7 pencils. It's just everything I wanted this to be. Applies so smoothly and is just what I need to set off my green eyes and dark lashes with. Does fade a little so when I'm going fo a more intense look I apply over Chanel's Brandy liner.
I just love it, it works for me!

I want to like Urban Decay eyeliners. They have so many pretty colors that would be flattering but unfortunately the one I got for my birthday (1999) ended up being a disappointment. The color is very pretty and I was hoping my parents would pick a purple liner for me. While the color is nice, applying it is the tricky part. The color is barely visible and even pressing down hard doesn't do the trick. I like my eyeliner to show up and have a well-defined line so my eyes will be front and center. This one doesn't do the trick. Plus, sharpening it wasn't any better. It came out uneven and had sharp edges so it actually could scratch your eye out. Ugh.
One positive thing I noticed about this eyeliner, however, is that you could wear it when you go swimming because the color stays on, plus it's very natural so it doesn't look like you're wearing makeup. If I wore any of my eyeliners I own now (MAC, Clinique, Stila) they would smudge like crazy. This one on the other hand stays put. I hope I do end up finding one that has what I'm looking for because I think this eyeliner is promising. I just wish the pigment was better...

The reason I dont like this product has nothing to do with the actual quality of the product because I think the 24/7 are one of the very best eyeliners on the market. I felt it necessary to write a review on this because I think the color is AWFUL. 1999 is the exact color of the reddish purple that I have just color corrected around my eyes! Boo! I have tried to utilize this color every which way but it always just ends up making me looking tired, bloodshot, and cracked out. ....which is cool....if you're going for that look.

BEAUTIFUL reddened purple liner. I like to wear it with a black, though, because it doesn't work quite perfectly on my coloring by itself. I really like using 24/7 liners in my waterline, but this one I can't. I has decently chunky glitter in it, and I am a contact lense wearer...so that would just be trouble. It has great staying power on the lower lash line. Once you give it several seconds to "set" it isn't going to go anywhere. I have watery eyes, too, and it doesn't fade or transfer. I don't care one lick for the pricetag, though. I know UD is a big name, but the price is quite steep for a product that wears down quickly just due to sharpening. Which brings me to...it is a VERY soft pencil. Now, this could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Because it is so soft, it doesn't tug while being applied, but at the same time you will lose a lot of product to your sharpener. I don't know that I will repurchase 1999 again. I like it well enough, but I have found a better, cheaper, non-chunky glitter dupe!

this product is just ok. i like to layer it with black eyeliner to add a little color and sparkle. on its own, there is very little color pay off. it doesn't show up on the waterline at all, but it did on the lashline. it's a red toned sheer plum color with sparkles.

got this in their 24/7 e/l set the other day, i didn't have high hopes for it because everyone said its not pigmented and didn't like it.
My opinion...i really like the color of this. I usually go for dark e/l so with this i layered it on to make it darker but on rare occ i do like a light eye including light liner. I like the gold play in this too, looks great on brown eyed redheads =D
Deff repurchase because this shade is hard to find.
EDIT: Im adoring this liner still, its such an awesome color & doesn't smudge like zero does. Will repurchase in full size!

Color is pretty sheer and shimmery. Its pretty, but not enough omph.

I tried to line my waterline and practically no color transferred- only slight shimmer. I just wish it was more intense.
