This is my favourite new shampoo! I have fine hair (not baby-fine) that needs moisture, because I flat iron it every two days after I wash my hair. Most "moisture" shampoos leave my hair really oily and greasy a few hours after use, but this shampoo leaves it soft and super clean for a whole two days! I have been using it for the past two months and I am so impressed. It can be really hard to find a shampoo that is moisturizing but not too moisturizing that you get the oily residue if you have finer hair.

The shampoo makes your hair feel smooth and silky, then again I don't know whether it is because of all the coatings attached to the hair. I have fairly sensitive skin and one thing I notice is if I accidentally let the hair touch my skin all night the next day I got red itchy lump on that area. I think it must be all these "goodies" they put in the shampoo that give me the reaction.
It took me a while to realise this. I am now switching to another brand.

Horrible! This is just a ridiculously overpriced silicone shampoo. After using this and Lait Vital I literally lost a clump of hair trying to just comb my hair out...it was a tangled dried out mess!! I have baby baby fine hair and I try to be as gentle as I can, but ...ugh. Totally disappointed esp since the masquintense is awesome...oh well, guess I'll stick with the bain de force + ciment which are 10x better. UGH... 2 days later and my hair is still shedding from this - what the heck is in this stuff!

terrible, my hair is normal, not coloured and this shampoo made my hair looking dirty on the roots right away, it feels like I went to gym and worked out for 3 hours and after I spend 3 nights fishing without having shower! No jokes, even if I wash 2 times my hair, nothing helps, it is the worst shampoo I ever tried!

Ever since using this shampoo, I wake up every morning with silky hair! In fact, I can go days without having to comb my hair- that's how incredible this product is, especially for lazy people like me! Even with constant use of the hairdryer, my hair feels moist and fluffy instead of damaged. The shampoo is dispensed out of a little hole at the top of the bottle, but it's still easy to control how much you use. At first I used to think that the smell was too full of chemicals, but as I continued to enjoy the benefits of this shampoo, I grew to like the smell!

I really like this shampoo, it made my hair very clean, shiny and soft. I wouldn't use it every day, because it can make your hair a bit greasy, and can cause dandruff. I still haven't found my HG shampoo, but I'll keep on searching until I do!

Used to think this was my HG product ... used it now for about a year or so, and have had great results. Then one day I ran out and had to pick up some Dove Oil Nutrition or whatever that stuff is called ... and guess what! It does an as good as, if not a better job than Kerastase ... if you're reading this and wondering whether to go spend £12 on this shampoo, stop! Try Dove first.

This is the only Kerastase shampoo that my hair and scalp completely agreed. My hair type: Asian, thin, naturally straight hair, black, been colored and Japanese perm every now and then. I've tried Bain Divalent (good, used it in early 2000, formula might changed now), Bain Reflection (purple pink bottle, didn't like it at all), Bain Resistance (makes my scalp oily, yikes), Bain Volume (I don't remember well, I guess it's so so). Bain Satin 1 is so perfect, not too over conditioned nor too silky. I don't like too much conditioning properties on my hair, because my hair is thin, flat and fragile with no texture, therefore this is enough. My hair stays manageable and healthy when using this shampoo, no matter in humid, cold or dry, warm, hot weather. It's the only one that works. I like to pair it with my fav Japanese conditioner, called NIGELLE LX (when I abused my hair too much) or NIGELLE AX. If you have the same hair type like me, thin, fine, flat, you only need a light conditioner with this shampoo. The shampoo already does everything. It doesn't make my scalp oily on 2nd day, unlike other shampoos. Note: I live in Los Angeles, low humidity and hard water. This is a must, but I don't use it everyday to prevent build up, plus, it's expensive.

Absolutely amazing shampoo! Expensive but worth every penny. I have fine hair but lots of it and I live in a dry environment where I work outside. This product is just what I need to keep my hair shiny and manageable.

Smells awful and the product itself is nothing special. WAY overpriced and I found it quite drying and too harsh on my hair.

This product is AMAZING!

This review is mainly for people who have tried the more intense Kerastase lines and those didn't work for them.

I had the most brittle, disgusting, dry hair with split ends and horrible tangles. Nothing I used made it better, so I went to a salon, and they talked me into buying the Masquintense with the Bain Satin 3 (the super moisturizing shampoo and conditioner by Kerastase that is for extremely dry hair). I finished both of them, and my hair condition only got worse and frizzier. I then tried the Oleo Relax line, and had a lot of hair loss. I was desperate, then someone told me to try the Bain Satin 1 and the matching conditioner (I think Lait Vital 1), and after just a couple uses, my hair was completely calm, and not as dry. I have been using the Bain Satin 1 for 2 years now, and my hair is in better condition than it ever has been, in fact I didn't even know I could have such straight, healthy, gorgeous hair. It literally transformed my hair. So if you've tried the more intense treatments and you think those don't work, give Bain Satin 1 a try, because trust me the Masquintense and the other lines don't even compare. My only complaint is that the Bain Satin 1 is moisturizing and kind of ways my hair down, so there's less volume, but atleast my hair is healthier, shinier and just better than ever so I wouldn't change that for anything. By the way, I've also tried Pureology, and Kerastase is better IMO.

My hair dresser recommended this shampoo for my dry damaged hair. My hair is over the shoulders...it is wavy soy I have to flat iron it every day. I have to wash it every day, otherwise it gets reaally greasy at the roots. 3 weeks ago my hair changed its texture or something happened with it, because when i washed it didn´t foam, I couldn't run my fingers properly to massage my scalp...after washing it it felt dry and oily, i couldn't comb or style it...that is when my stylist recommended this...that saved my life!
The packaging is nice, the scent is like herbal...directly from the bottle it is not a nice scent, but when you wash your hair it turns into a herbal-clean fragance that doesn't stay in your hair for long...After just one time using itt i noticed a change in my hair, it felt more smooth and really clean. Now I have just bought de conditioner.
It is really expensive!!! and another thing that I don't like is that kerastase tests on animals...so I feel guilty for using it...maybe that's why I wouldn't buy it again...but over all a great shampoo

This use to be one of my favourite shampoos, but now i think there are better products out there.I have fine hair and i need something to moisturize but not weight down my hair. This leaves my hair smooth ,but ther tend to become oily the third day after i've washed it.So,i dont use this anymore, after i've discovered Leonor Greyl Bain Aux Algues, which is on the same price range but better for my hair.

I bought the 500mL bottle because it's far more economical that way. Kerastase shampoos are darn expensive, and they finish fairly quickly as well. Now, Bain Satin #1 is good for hair types that are mid-length, dry and unsensitive scalp. Unfortunately, I found out that my scalp could not tolerate the 'build up' of silicones. I had to use another shampoo to rid the silicones twice a week. It's a manageable product, but after 3 months of continuous use, I had noticed that I was dropping alot more hair in the shower and everywhere! I can only conclude that this was happening because of the heavy build up. So unless you have mid-length hair and a super strong scalp, this product will do better in your ratings.

I don't mind this product, but for the price and reputation it fell far short of my expectations. I have long, fine, wavy hair and it cleansed it well without weighing it down, but for heaven's sake so does Trader Joe's shampoo -- and with far fewer chemicals, to boot. Many have raved over the smell, but I found it mildly pleasant. Basically, I found this entire product mildly pleasant - it cleaned my hair, and smelled fine. For the price of this however, come on. I feel like I'm a spectator at the Emperor's New Clothes parade.

Was this some kind of a JOKE played by my hair stylist?! Cuz this product did nothing for my hair! Sure, it made it feel a lil' smooth but u can find a million other products to give u that effect! For THIS price, I expected a LOT more than this...even herbal essences are better in comparison to THIS! The smell of this puts me off....a very...umm...hair salon smell...I don't know why i was recommended this...I'm gonna dress down the next tym I walk into a salon. Bain satin?! Bain blah!

Pass on this one. Too many silicones in this. My hair was weighed down and very greasy feeling. The scent wasn't really appealing either. Definitely not worth the expensive price tag.

I have been using this shampoo for two years now and simply love it. I have always been a Kerastase fan since 6 years now and have never regretted that decision. I have long, highlighted, fine, wavy hair and this shampoo really does justice to it by prepping it for further conditioning and leave in treatments. I was using the Kérastase Bain Miroir 1 for Colour Treated Hair before and that was good for my color treated hair but that was before I moved to a dry cold country. Bain Satin has been just so good at repairing my hair of the moisture and vibrance lost. I am often complimented on my hair texture and therefore I believe in this shampoo in combination with Masquintense Epais 3 thick (once a week) and Kérastase Sublimateur Jour (with every wash). I can also swear by the latter two products. Oh and just to add - I have oily roots and dr ends.
