I love this product. A perfect lip stain, bold enough to give lips a pop, but not over the top. Very pretty, flattering color that actually lasts all day. My lips never feel dry when using Just Bitten lip stains ( I always use a gloss on top, though ) This is so much nicer than the disastrous benetint. Vastly superior in quality, price, feel, look.

I love lipstains and it's generally quite hard to find one that is the perfect shade of pinkish red for me. I love this lipstain! I agree with other reviewers here, the rollerball applicator justs doesn't work. It's messy and it applies unevenly. I Found that using a lipbrush helps me apply it evenly, and to prevent that irrupting ring at the insides of my mouth I apply my lip balm. The color is so lovely, something that I can never find in other lipstains. Its almost red but with orange undertones, it isn't too bright if used sparingly, but its enough to make my face just look bright and healthy. Im quite fair, with black hair and the color is just lovely.

This review is for the now discontinued Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in the color Blood Orange.

I like this product a lot. I purchased it a few years ago and it got pushed to the back of my lip products. I recently organized my makeup and rediscovered it. I've been wearing it non-stop since. It really brightens up my face and provides a polished look. Figures it has been discontinued.

Color - I'm NC 15 with pigmented lips. Many red lip products turn fuchsia on me. On my lips it shows up as a nice neutral red. It doesn't lean orange. The color doesn't scream - hello, I'm wearing a red lippie. Instead, it is a nice just bitten stain - go figure Revlon got it right with the naming. I tend to wear this with a sheer nude wash on my eye, eyeliner, mascara, a bit of bronzer for contour, and a neutral blush.

Consistency - It's a liquid consistency.

How I apply - I don't wear a lip liner. The stain is in a small vial with a roller ball top. I just roll it on and smooth it out with my finger. It's very easy. I usually apply a few coats in the morning.

Feel on the lips - It is not sticky as are some lip stains. It is not moisturizing, but it is also not drying. It really doesn't feel like I have anything on my lips when I use this product.

Wear - It wears well. I apply a few coats in the morning. I don't bring it with me as I don't like to carry makeup in my purse. I like makeup to last and wear (and wear off) well. This product fits the bill. It's not as long lasting as some lipstains, but it typically lasts until lunch at full strength. It wears with eating and drinking. But, it wears off evenly. Some lipstains tend to wear off blotchy. This doesn't.

Packaging - There's a picture attached to the review which shows you the packaging better than I could explain it. It's a small product with a roller-ball applicator. It has a screw on top - which is nice as it won't fall off. There was white print on the side of the item which has worn off over time. The packaging doesn't look or feel luxurious, but it does the job and it doesn't leak. It's a small item, but there is a ton of product. I have been using it daily and it's still full.

Price - I don't remember the full price. I believe it was around $7 or $8. I purchased it when it was half price at Walgreens. I hate buying drug store products at full price because without testers its always a crap shoot.

Would I buy this product again? Yes, if only I could.

About me - NC 15. A bit paler in winter. Blue eyes. Pale blonde hair.

Does this product still exist? I loved the orange-red color of this. I've had bad luck finding a good orangey lip stain; most turn that bright fuchsia marker color which looks awful on my complexion.

I remember that this product would kind of coagulate in the tube. Also, it wasn't a thin liquid like most stains, and the taste was sort of awful. I would still look past those problems to find another stain in a color like this.

Good colour. Suits my asian complexion very well. For some reason it makes my skin look paler! I dont mind the rollerball that much, its actually pretty smooth considering how much people hate it. I just even it out with my fingers afterwards. It doesnt taste or smell bad which is a big plus for me, I just wish it absorbed abut better. I use a lipbalm on top and it seems to stay on for a long time.

I originally bought this lipstain some months back and just couldn't get it to work for me - I found the roller ball application a bit messy and uneven. However, I recently returned to this product with a different purpose in mind.

First I exfoliate my lips with The Body Shop's Lip Scuff, then I apply the lip stain lightly and press my lips together. Once dry, I use Chanel's Lip gloss in Big Bang and WOW. The look is amazing, gives depth and longevity to my gloss. I have never received so many comments on my lip colour - I seriously suggest you give this a go. I doubt I will purchase this product again as by the time it runs out, I am sure to be onto something else.

I love lip stains and this is a good one. When I first saw this I read the label and thought-orange-no way!! But on my lips it looks really natural, a sort of flushed pink/red rather than orange.

It usually lasts about four hours or so on my lips, regardless of if I drink or eat in that time. The roller ball is really annoying and the application can sometimes be a little uneven-you can fix this by using your finger or a brush to even it out.

This is $30 in NZ-not worth it for that price, but since I got it for $6 from the States, it's great.

I really like the idea of lip stains because often I want a bit of colour without depth or shine, but as others have said, your lips need to be really smooth before using this. The rollerball applicator makes patchy coverage on its own, and it stains your finger if you use that to smooth it in.

I've never bought an orange-toned lip color before, but I was surprised by how great the colour looks -- I have light olive skin and dark hair, and on my lips it literally looks just bitten. The colour lasts a while if you don't lick or touch your lips. I don't like the taste though -- it's oddly bitter. I've since got the Berry Juicy one too, and it's the same (and much less natural looking).

I was so disappointed with this product. I love the color, I so wanted to love the product too, but it's just not well made. It's nearly impossible for me to put it on evenly. I felt like I was trying to use colored water as a lip stain. The consistency is so thin that it runs straight to the edges of my lips and looks completely blotchy and uneven. And that's not over time, that's the second I put it on.
At first I thought that I was putting on too much, so I tried applying again, only using my finger to dab a little on, then blotting with a tissue. It was looking ok, still a tad uneven but not as bad as before. A few minutes later, however, I noticed that all the color had collected in a line where the upper and lower lips meet, making it looking like I had been eating an orange and forgot to wipe my mouth.
I really wanted this one to work but it just didn't. Unless Revlon fixes the formula I won't be repurchasing.

You know, I really love the color of this. It actually makes my lips look like they've just been bitten in a sexy way. ;] it gives a great flush to the rest of my skin. Works well with my light skin. I want to love this, but I will only wear it every once in a while. Why? After about an hour's wear, it fades VERY unevenly! My bottom lip had all the pigment, while my top lip just had a big, bright circle right by the cupid's bow. Not pretty! Maybe I just need to master the application .. apply with a quick hand, it dries quickly! (also annoying)

I like the stain, but am still not sure if the color looks right on me or not. Doesn't dry my lips out or taste bad to me. I was really excited to get that orange lip color thats "in" for fall/winter, but it might be to dark for a pale girl like me.

OMG Love this stuff but do not like it on its own. Have put it over Chapstick and Carmex strawberry lip balm and it makes a great lipstick but very moisturizing. Over lipstick it sets the color and it does not come off easily. I am over "of a certain age" and I want the impossible: moisturizing without gooey-ness without feathering without coming off all the time: this baby delivers in a big way. Highly recommended and going back for more colors but I do like the blood orange because it's a bit of a ping on Winter complexion. Cheers! and only $7.99 at Wal-Mart. Also, it works over lip glosses, which I have some but could never seem to wear them before I had this stuff to settle the goo factor.

Just bought this yesterday, I went to get Cherry Tart but they were out of that and the only thing they had was Blood Orange, so i purchased that. It's a beautiful orange/red lipstain. I like Revlon's lipstains. You must apply lip balm or vaseline before applying this lip stain. It's stays on my lips all day, i just have to touch up once in the afternoon. Some people having issue with dry lips with this, for me, ever since i started wearing revlon's lip stains, my lips never feels chapped or dry. I currently own BO and Plum and am planning to get all the shades as possible since this is limited edition.

I honestly tried to like this stuff, heck I liked the color, like some of the other gals, FINALLY something other than hooch red or goth plum....SO I bought it and put it on. Not good. It dried my lips out like you wouldnt beleive, I dont know maybe this is supposed to happen but I dont like it. It was very blotchy and didnt build well not even with gloss, also the taste is like watered sugar. Uh uh nope, no way. However I didnt mind the packaging just too bad the stuff in it sucked for me!

First off, I have to say I love the color. It is a bright orange toned red, just gorgeous. I do not like the packaging though, the letters rub off very quickly and you end up looking like you're applying a tube of viscous Halloween blood on your lips. I think the rollerball is too big for a precise, even application, I would much rather have had a wand applicator. However, when smoothed out with my fingers it is very gorgeous. It, however, does not build very well if you want more color. I'd recommend this if you want a sheer to medium wash of color, but if you're looking for a more buildable, opaque stain, I'd try something else. Despite the drawbacks, however, this still is a good product, which is why I'm giving it a 4.

This is my first lipstain and I was immediately charmed by the idea of a drugstore lipstain. I use the rollerball to apply to my lips and finger to spread the color out more precisely. I don't really need a dramatic look so a single layer is enough for me and dries very quickly. Once it is dry, I use a lip balm over it as I would my bare lips. This is perfect for my very-low maintenance look!

It's incredibly rare to find a lipstain in any other colour family than pinks and plums. Hence the reason, I, a cool toned brunette bought Blood Orange. I will admit to being quite afraid of the colour when I swiped it on my hand, but on the lips it's a really pretty orangy-red. It has a very interesting see-through quality, so pretty when topped with gloss. Revlon really developed a gorgeous colour with this stain, it's so well done that I really want to go back and pick up Berry Juicy.

I wear a lipstain almost daily, so I've had lots of practice in putting them on, even the roller ball ones. My first Lorac lipstain had a roller ball applicator, even if it was about two times smaller than the large one stuck on the Revlon stains. The secret to getting a lipstain to last is to apply then to dry clean lips. I exfoliate my lips the night before, and go to sleep with some sort of treatment balm on them. In the morning, while I'm doing the rest of my makeup I apply a bit of balm to my lips to keep them soft and smooth. When I'm done all my makeup, I take a bit of Vaseline, rub it all over my lips, and then take it off with a tissue. You'll end up with dry, clean lips. They'll feel tight and like they need a balm. This is the way you want them.

With roller ball applicators I find it easier to pucker my lips slightly and apply the stain to both the top and bottom centre of the lips. Then you take your finger and you fan out the rest evenly. It should stick, and leave enough even color so that nothing looks patchy or blotchy. Stains are always sheer, if you want more colour, you have to build up the layers. I always start with one sheer layer, then step back and check the progess. Then I wait about a minute or more so that things are good and dry and when I stain has set, I apply a lipbalm. This helps lips not feel dry, and adds shine, so that it looks like you have pretty shiny lips instead of dry crackly stained lips. Depending on how well the stain took in the morning, or the number of coats, a stain can last the better part of the day. I pull about six or more hours out of one application. As the day progresses, I just keep layering either a gloss, balm or lipstick over the original stain colour.

The texture of this stain is kind of oily I find, so it slips around a bit more than usual. Smoothing with a finger helps keep it in place and pat into the right spot.

You will have to wash your fingers though, as this one produces a pretty intense stain on fingertips that can't be wiped away easily.

I dont really understand the hate for this. Maybe its not the best thing ever but I for one am beside myself with excitement to find a stain that ISN'T PURPLE! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I use it on my cheeks as well, its all the same thing. I always like to use a stain under powder blushes even though the only ones I can ever find are PURPLE or PINKY PURPLE and I cry with too much purpleness. All I want is peachy/normal red! Blood orange lipstain fills this gaping void for me and I am happy. Very happy. MLBB.

Don't know about all this Limited edition whatsit, the illuminating lotions are hideous and overpriced IMHO but this is ok, will buy again.

ETA. Will definitely buy again, played with this before going to bed and woke up still with coloured lips, it counteracts the blue undertones of my lips and doesnt look artificial at all! Definitely try if you are a blue dead lipped gal like me :D

P.S the ingredients are so cute (actaully has berries quite high on the list) raspberry, blackberry, boysenberry, cherry, blueberry, strawberry and orange fruit extracts. Awww. Maybe this is why it doesnt taste horrifying (I have found some stains can)

Exfoliation is a MUST and lipbalm over the top is good (I use Lucas's paw paw and find that it doesnt disintegrate the stain)

I really love this stuff! I found it very easy to apply, and did not experience any sort of bleeding or "clown ring" effect. The color is really pretty and it lasts forever. It shows up well but still manages to look like you're not wearing anything since it doesn't make your lips look shiny or matte or anything. I didn't really notice any taste at all, so I don't know what other people are talking about. I think this works as well or better than the other lip stain I have tried, the one made by Urban Decay. No complaints here!
