Impulsively and regrettably, I swapped a full bottle of Hypnotic Poison for a full bottle of Badgley Mischka, unsniffed. It was spring, and I wanted a change. I already had a bottle of Hypnotic Poison parfum, and felt the EDT was going unused. I wanted to shed my heavy, gothy, rosey, tuberose, and decadent notes for something just as sophisticated but sweet, fresh, fun, different. The review in Perfumes: the A-Z Guide made Badgley Mischka sound like the perfect fit- a gorgeous and sophisticated fruity floral.
I can be traditional in that I love unabashed, feminine florals, many of which do fall into the "fruity floral" category. However, I don't particularly like fruit notes except for peach, and only when it is an accent, not the focus. Badgley Mischka is all fruit, as Sanchez says, "a big, breathtakingly gorgeous fruity top note". Well, the adjectives work if you like fruit, but if you don't, replace gorgeous with stressful and you have my reaction upon receiving a full bottle in the mail. I immediately had swapper's regret, and have missed my Hypnotic Poison EdT ever since.
Today my Badgley Mischka is once again headed out for swap, and I've tested it just to remember my reaction. Anything is easier to appreciate when you know it will soon be gone, and so this time, I notice the jasmine middle notes, and the patchouli base and woody dry down. As far as fruity florals go, this one really is sophisticated, and would stand out among the other department store fruity florals as chic, subtle, and glamorous. However, those fresh, fruity, synthetic top notes still nag me, and I will not regret sending it off to someone else who will hopefully appreciate it more than me.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Went out this morning for some me-time and sat reading my kindle while eating a bagel with cream cheese and lox. Which always makes me feel like a seal. I digress. So anyway, I decided to check out TJMaxx to see if they had any of the 5 star fragrances in that Perfume book I read last night.
They had Badgley Mischka. For 10 bucks. I thought "SCORE!". I ripped it open in a MUA frenzy in my vehicle and spritzed myself twice. WTF! I may not be a highly evolved perfume expert but according to my visa card I have an extensive collection and YUCK. It smells dated. A melange of powdery mess. I have no desire to play "pick the note" with this because it smells like I sprayed pee powder on myself.
I had Tocada and Beyond Pleasure on my list of things to pick up and just stuck the list in my paper shredder. By all means pick it up if it's 10 bucks just to experience it and scent IS very subjective but it was not for me.
Edited to add: Yuck. Ptooey.

Surprise HG-- it won me over slowly. After seeing it at Marshalls and noticing it was distributed by Arden, I think I had an olfactory bias. When I smelled orchard fruits on the front end, I immediately dismissed Badgley Mischka as just another fruity-floral-gourmand, along the lines of the Britney Spears schlock empire. I assumed it would dry down to the same cheap, cloying synthetic orchid-musk. I washed it off and thought nothing more.
But then I began reading the positive reviews-- Luca Turin, Chandler Burr. Those folks hate cheap gourmands, but they raved about Badgley. I purchased a small parfum rollerball and let it settle on my wrists and neck. Wow... wow... WOW!!! was my response as the layers of sophisticated, layered brandy-like autumn fruits gave way to smooth white flowers and then a delicious, clean-but-soulful hit of patchouli-chypre on the drydown. This is seriously scrumptious and sexy stuff. And definitely a high-end, well-constructed fragrance for grown women. I can't wear Angel, though its patchouli-sweet juxtaposition intrigues me-- Badgley is my answer!

This is a 2 in one perfume. Starts like Miss Dior Cherie, ends like Coco Mademoiselle. And costs much much less.

Now Smell This: the notes include wild berries, peach, creme de cassis, osmanthus, peony, jasmine, caramel, sandalwood, amber, patchouli and sueded musks.
Found this for a steal at TJMaxx, and wasn't completely sold on the scent when I first smelled it. I could cognitively enjoy it but didn't want to wear it on anything more than the back of my hand. The first time I actually wore it, to go on a date, my husband had his nose stuck in my hair all night.:) The more I wore it, the more my heart caught up with my head. It gets heavy rotation now, and the dry down, imo, is seamless. That initial fruity blast is still hidden in the background, and marries beautifully with the base. This is perfume at it's best.

I've enjoyed sampling the other five-star fragrances from Perfumes: The Guide, so when I saw that discounters carry mini parfum bottles of Badgley Mischka for under $10, I had to order one. (That's practically free, right?) I'm so glad I didn't pay more. It's very similar to Coco Mademoiselle or Miss Dior Cherie, except that while those two fragrances last all day and then some, Badgley Mischka goes through its entire life cycle of generic fruitchouli to synthetic laundry musk to nothing at all in under two hours. Perfume longevity is rarely a problem for me, so I'm not sure if this is the shortest-lived pure parfum in existence or if there's more to it that I'm just not capable of smelling, but we're definitely not meant for each other.

I was excited to have the Badgley Mischka fragrance. Fortunately I purchased it through Home Shopping Network, where now until
Jan.31, there is an extended return policy. So, I could take my time
trying out this fragrance.
The top notes are quite nice - berries and spices to my nose. Something then happens into the middle notes - perhaps the osmanthus and jasmine - which become almost indolic (nearly stinky on my skin), then the base notes become pure stickiness! What is that stickiness? I did not pick up any patchouli which I was looking forward to (I really enjoy patchouli), but there is that sticky note like most Escada fragrances have - as an example of what I'm referring to. It smells like someone spilled a tropical drink on me and I can't wait to wash the stickiness off.
So, I'll be returning this purchase to HSN for a refund.
The price is about relative to what is being sold in dept. store fragrance counters now and the design of the bottle is lovely and chic - a nice addition to anyone's dresser display of fragrances.
Notes include: "Red Wild Berries, Fresh Peach, Crème de Cassis, Osmanthus Flower, White Peony, Jasmine, Caramel Amber, Indian Sandalwood, Patchouli"

When I first sprayed this perfume on a card I thought " Well...that's sticky!". Luckily I kept the card. I had a sniff next morning, and was absolutely shocked how much I liked the scent! I kept sniffing it for days and weeks (the card). I did not want to buy it as I was in such a disbelieve that it was the same "sticky perfume".About 3 weeks later I finally bought it. I am on my 3rd bottle now, I love it!! I feel grown up, feminine and glamorous when I wear it. It also makes me feel exceptionally beautiful. The scent is heady, I think you must be very confident to wear it, but that what makes it different, anyone and everyone can wear Prada, Channel and Dior. This takes you to a different level of femininity and sophistication. I think I found MY Signature Scent :) xoxo

I'll admit that I bought this perfume not only because I thought I would like it based on its composition, but also to own the label. Shallow, I know, but I couldn't resist and bought a miniature, a lotion and the complete gift set without testing it out first. The bottles were a vision of crystal elegance, but the scent did not appeal to me. It was a powdery sort of scent and seemed to be all musk, sandalwood and patchouli. I had been hoping the peony and jasmine notes would be a little more overt, but they were totally overwhelmed by the others. The whole impression wasn't awful, but the longer it was on my skin the stronger it became, eventually getting so heavy and cloying I had to wash it off. The scent just didn't work well on me, but I thought it might work for my mother. I gave her the lotion to try and she absolutely loved it. It smelled much better on her, so I gave her the whole set for Christmas with the mini as a stocking stuffer. She's thrilled with it, and I was glad to give her something pretty (the gift set is gorgeous, even the box!) she would never have bought for herself. Perfumes are very subjective, of course, but this one was really quite awful on me. Maybe it was karmic revenge for my materialistic avarice.

This is such a lovely chypre! I found it interesting to see how other reviewer thought like I thought... It's a wonderful mixture that smells so similar to Coco Mlle., Chance, and Miss Dior Cherie (I love all three of these). I love that it is sweet as well; the sweetness makes the fragrance more innocent and playful. This is definitely not a dark, sultry perfume but a confident, glamorous fragrance. I love it! :-)

A great bargain at my local discounter and one I've passed on to friends to their great delight. A beautiful floral chypre--with just that hint of sharpness that keeps it from being dull or boring. A definite winner!

This was a successful blind buy from Winners (the Canadian TJ Maxx/Marshalls). Rich, syrupy fruit with gourmand notes and white florals. It does sound like it would beat you over the head with heaviness, but somehow I think it works beautifully. The fruity and foody notes seem more luscious and rich than cloying and sweet. I like this a lot for a romantic night out. The lasting power is excellent, too -- you don't need to apply much at all.

This one hits you as soon as you open the bottle. It is a floral of course, made of informal wildflowers like honeysuckle and dandelion, but the first note that comes to mind is a mushy overripe peach sitting on a picnic table in the middle of summer, close to fermentation. If my peach schnapps smelled like this, it would probably turn out better than any of those found in the bars I frequented in college. It's hard to imagine this perfume offending anybody in composition alone, but it is strong and could very easily become overpowering, not to mention the effect is essentially improper. Youthful and happy, but by no means innocent. Badgley Mischka is waiting to meet her tenth summer lover in a poppy field, not her first.

I just got this boxed set after reading the reviews and it was right on the money! This does remind me of a cross between coco and miss Dior Cherie ! Except that both of those is a lot better than this one, its not as good as coco but It is soo incredibly strong! My nose never adjusts to this and I smell it on myself for days after. Its a classic and gorgeous fragrance.

I read Tania Sanchez's review of this in Perfumes: The Guide and immediately hopped on the computer and bought a 50mL bottle off the internet. I waited anxiously for it to arrive, and, when it did, I opened it up and sniffed it eagerly. I got a huge shock. To me, it did not smell the way Sanchez had described it; instead, it smelled of overripe fruit and dust. For several days, I looked sadly at the little bottle, wishing I would like it. Suddenly, after taking one more sniff, I realised that it did not smell of overripe fruit and dust; instead, it was a beautiful fruity chypre, smelling of lush fruits, various woods, gorgeous ambers and soft white florals all at once. It might smell similar to Miss Dior Cherie and Coco Mademoiselle, but this does it better. I'm not even halfway through my 50mL bottle and I'm already lusting after a 100mL. But if there's one thing I've learnt from this, it's to never buy another perfume off the internet without having smelled it beforehand.

Smelled fine when I sniffed the open bottle--perhaps a little strong--but it's FAR too strong for me once it's on. Even the tiniest bit, and I walk around wondering, "Is this as overwhelming to the people around me as I think it is?" (And I'm a "one spritz is plenty" type with any scent.) Wish I could see what it smelled like if it were just...LESS. I'm giving a friend what's left of my sample.
One plus if you do like it: Great staying power. This even lasts through a shower!

Beautiful bottle, but this fragrance to my nose smells like a drug store knock off. A cheap rendition of Prada or Chance. If you are a patch fan, you'll be disappointed. There are far better patches out there. Too linear. Just another generic scent.

One of the stronger fragrances I own, and I wear this when I want to feel classy/elegant =P Like others have said, it's fruity w/ a hint of spicy and the scent lasts all day (maybe even into the next day). Sometimes I think it can be a lil overwhelming.
