Overall I like this lip balm as it moisturizes nicely but I think the citrus/lemon smell is too much. My favorite organic lip balm would still have to be lavera

Very nice and emollient lip buddy! I love it. Would by again, used it all the time while having a tube in my bag. Tastes good too. It is comforting to know that there are not any nasties in it, since you lick some of it off of your lips.

Been lemming for this forever so when I finally saw it in a shop I bought two. Wanted so much to love it... but unfortunately this isn't the best moisturizing balm ever. I tend to have rather dry lips nowadays, and I find that this balm doesn't really soften them, just sits on top. I have other balms that really penetrate, and this isn't one of them, as much as I wanted it to. Bonus points though for being organic -- it's good to know that whatever you're putting on your lips is all natural. It smells good too. I'm trying my best to use it up now since I heard that a tube lasts only six months, and I don't think I might be repurchasing this.

This was an impulse buy awhile back...I wanted a citrusy lip balm. Price was around $6, selling point is probably that it is organic.
The balm is a bit yellow/green in color and goes on clear. It is smooth and quite a bit thicker than Chapstick or Blistex lip balms. It is moisturizing, but I always feel like there is a layer of grease on my lips. The scent is pleasant and citrusy, but doesn't remind me of cleaning product. The balm tastes like citrus oils, which I neither liked nor disliked.
The stick of balm is quite soft. If your balm no longer goes down the tube, pushing it back down even a very small distance is difficult and messy.
Personally, I could care less if a lip balm is organic. There are cheaper lip balms with textures that I like better out there, so I will not be repurchasing this.

This is a staple that I keep in my purse. It's great, almost like an olive oil lip treatment. It imparts the perfect shine, without being sticky at all and comes in a chapstick -like tube that is easy to carry. It's clear, so I can put it on without a mirror. It's also a fantastic base for lipstick and lipgloss.
********* But do NOT use this 24/7.
There is something about this product that will cause you to become addicted if you use it too much. I almost wonder if it's because it's so gentle and smooth as silk that the skin on your lips never has a chance to shed. I'm not sure.
Bottom line, this is fabulous to have around, but be aware that it's not for exclusive use.

one of the best for sure.
i finally wrote down all the lip balms i've tried on a paper, and it is over 60 now.
i've bought or sampled at least three times every single one i've ever heard of.
from kiehls to burt bees to la mer to dr bronners to by terry to aveeno to dior rose balm to korres lip balms to ole henriksen etc, the list goes on and on. there are five out of that 60 that i will ever bother to buy again, because the variety we have nowadays in lip products allows me my high standards. price, ingredients, and results are the three major points i expose in lip products. let's discuss this particular one.
price = $7 @ Whole Foods not bad, still dr.bronners is $3. so it's a medium range of a balm. there have been far more expensive balms $45 and $70, but as an organic (not drugstore) balm this is on the lower end of price matters.
ingredients = excellent love that it has fancy oils like rosehip, wheat germ and hemp, but esp effective are the citrus oils. unfortunately, this balm lasts only 6 months and it will go bad. it melts easily because of the ingredients. so if you can't use it every other day, it's not worth buying.
results = great, not perfect. dr. bronner's, pangea's, and ole henriksen's are still better. if it weren't for dr.bronner's, i'd most definitely buy this. but the price and results are better than this, and the ingredients are similar and also excellent.
i will probably not buy this again, because of the 6 month usage requirement and the really liquid texture of it (probably due to the olive oil?), but this balm is definitely in the top ten of all the ones i've ever tried. a definite recommend.

I love natural and organic products, but this balm falls far short of expectations. The scent is boring and a bit too earthy for my taste, and the texture is waxy and not at all moisturizing. There are a lot of superior organic balms on the market, like those from Pangea.

Ugh, I had the same problem. This product actually makes your lips chapped and raw. I don't understand why because it wasn't like this during the first week of use. Now I"m trying to get my lips back to normal but it feels as if its sunburned. They are red, chapped and dry. :X I love John Masters Organics. I use their shampoos and bodywash, lotions but this product is just bad. Stay away! You've been warned!

This is an awesome natural lip balm. It goes on sleek. It is enriched with fruit oils and is high in antioxidants so you feel like you are doing something good for your lips. I use this on the go and use NUDE lips at night as a treatment. My lips could not be happier in the dry winter months. Also, i do enjoy the smell from the fruit (lemon, tangerine & lime) ingredients.

Start off saying I am not a fan of the lime-lemon scent from this lip balm it’s hard for me not to think of cleaning solution when I take a sniff of something with a citrus scent but it does seem wears away quickly. Over all its moisturizing and has a sheen and doesn’t feel thick (I like thickness to my lip balms but not waxyness). Defiantly will keep using, I will always need a natural lip balm in hand :)

My number one beauty pet peeve is chapped lips! I ALWAYS have to have on some kind of lip balm - I hate the feeling of bare lips, and even worse is the feeling of chapped lips.
John Master's Lip Calm is honestly the BEST product for my lips ever - I will never go back to anything else. I bought it on a whim because I needed a balm and was so pleasantly surprised by the results.
The formula is all natural - which is SUCH a plus, especially considering this is on your lips and going into your mouth! It's creamy, not too rich, not at all sticky. It has absolutely no smell or scent - which is a big plus for me. You don't have to apply much to get great results - just glide it across your bottom lips back and forth once and that will be enough for a few hours.
This is great for if you don't want to wear any lipstick or lip gloss, because it adds no additional color to your lips but gives them a beautiful, healthy shine and plumpness. I wear it by itself regardless of what other makeup I'm wearing and I always know my lips look (and feel) so moisturized and beautiful.
The only downside to this product is that it's hard to find (I believe, strangely, Border's Bookstore carries it - it is also available online). Also, don't expect to layer it directly under lipstick or gloss. If you're going to wear lipstick or gloss, put the balm on right when you get out of the shower and let it sink in while you apply your makeup - don't put on any gloss or anything over top because it just doesn't layer on nicely.
After using this product, I feel the price (slightly higher than Chapstick brand or drugstore brands like Vaseline) is completely justified, and I will be a faithful user of this product forever! <3

I VERY dry lips, especially in the Winter, and this is one of the few products I have found that really keeps them moist. I carry on in my purse, leave one in my desk, keep one by my bedside, and yet another in my makeup bag. I can't live without this stuff!
As much as I like this, there are a few downsides. First, it has quite a strong smell, so if you are funny about how products smell you might not like this one. Second, I think it is expensive for lip balm. However, it works so well I'm willing to pay the price. Third, a dear friend of my tried this and felt it was much to heavy and greasy for her. I think it is best for someone with very dry lips.

I couldn't tolerate the strong smell of this - which reminded me of Mr. Clean floor cleaner every time I used it.

I thought I would never find a lip balm I liked better than Dr. Hauschka's ... until I found this one. Not only is at just as moisturizing, but it's significantly less expensive too! I think Dr. H's is around $12-$13 at Whole Foods and I paid $5.99 for this tube. True, is more expensive than your average lip balm but it's soooo worth it. As I said, it is moisturizing and it leaves a soft sheen on your lips. It has a subtle, sweet citrusy floral scent to it. (I can detect no taste.) And, almost all of its ingredients are organic. What's not to love? My new HG!

Wonderful product. The best lip balm I have ever tried, and I've used all of them from the drugstore: chapstick, blistex, carmax, and burt's bees to Kiehls, etc. Very happy I happen to stumble upon this product while I was waiting in a loooong line at Whole Foods and now am hooked and am curious about John Masters other products as his lip balm is simply the best.

Love this. I have repurchased a number of times, and have one in each bag. The packaging is great, the smell and taste are wonderful, and it does its job... better than any other product out there, and believe me, I've tried them all.

This comes in a plastic tube like any other lip balm, but that's where the similarities end. Upon application, it is extremely emoilliant and moisturizing. Instead of feeling like you are coating your lips, it actually feels like the ingredients are absorbing into your lips and softening them. Since using this balm, I don't have to reapply nearly as often, maybe 2 or 3 times a day at most. It has a nice lemony scent, and makes a nice base for other colored lip products. LOVE THIS - highly recommend.
